Awsome castle. A guided tour is included in the entree ticket, and I highly recommend it. You get so much more information about this castle. Olavinlinna has such a long and interesting history. After the tour you are free to explore the place by yourself. Only the towers are accessible with a guide. The staff was super friendly too!
Spectacular castle with great history and very cool towers and walls. Tour is usually 1 hour long, bit time flies, even with kids when going through. Be aware that during summer, it is very warm.
Very well restored in the late 19th century to its former glory. A place worth visiting, a beautiful old castle with an interesting and eventful past. I recommend the guided tour, which lasts 50 minutes.
The city of the Opera and and for those who enjoy history I recommend a visit to the city of Savolinna. The day trip was worth it especially the castle where the 1 church of Finland is. The guide tour saved us time. Though I recommend at least 2-3 days to enjoy the full hospitality of the city. Don't forget to enjoy Muikku or a glass of nice local wines while enjoying the waters at the tori. The hospitality of the city was worth the visit. It's really a summer city.
Aila was a wonderful tour guide, she was very knowledgeable and I would highly recommend using the tours which are included in the price of the ticket I was particularly impressed to learn about the Savonlinna Opera Festival which I will definitely try to attend next year!
Really beautiful castle. Worth visiting. I recommend taking part in a guided tour (available in Finnish and English).
Olavinlinna, also known as St. Olaf’s Castle, is a medieval fortress located in Savonlinna, Finland. Olavinlinna is one of Finland’s best-preserved medieval castles and a popular tourist attraction. It has three large towers and thick stone walls designed to withstand cannon fire. The castle was built to strengthen the Swedish Crown’s eastern defenses against Russia. Its strategic location on a rocky islet in Lake Saimaa made it a formidable military stronghold. Nowadays Olavinlinna hosts the world-famous Savonlinna Opera Festival every summer and offers guided tours, exhibitions, and special events. The castle’s dramatic silhouette and rich history make it a symbol of Finnish heritage and resilience.
Olavinlinna Castle in Finland is a remarkable sight! Its stunning medieval architecture, perched on an island surrounded by beautiful waters, creates a truly picturesque setting. The history surrounding the castle, dating back to the 15th century, adds an intriguing layer to any visit. The tales of sieges and the cultural significance of Olavinlinna. The tour guide was great

The cathedral is of utmost historical importance. You will get a guide in English language too. The guide describes pretty well. A wonderful place in summer. No idea how it goes in winter.
Savonlinna Cathedral is a nice architecture located in the heart of Savonlinna. It was built between 1874 and 1878 and features by its Neo-Gothic architecture with a tall spire, red brick exterior, and arched windows. It restored in the 20th century, it remains an active parish church. Its serene interior, beautiful altarpiece, and historic organ make it a cherished landmark and a peaceful place for reflection in Savonlinna.
I liked everything except the tour led by a girl in glasses with a rainbow ribbon around her neck
Beautiful church to sing in. Organ is lovely.
During the summer there are many life concerts in the church

This is one of the top 10 rated things to see in Finland (somewhat descriptive about the country), so we rented a car and drove from Helsinky to see this beauty, was it worth it you may ask? Every last kilometer. It has magnificent balls. When holded, luck is being granted to you. Also make sure to take road 62 and 438 when you drive there, in this case the journy is also the destination.

(Translated by Google) One night of thunder, Russian troops besieged the castle again. The castle's Christmas-looking black ram was driven into the tower after knocking the lord of the castle into the back rail earlier in the day. As the lightning struck, its light shone through the tower's windows, revealing to the enemy forces a ferocious-looking castle guardian minotaur. Then the enemy troops left the place screaming without leaving even their fleas behind. The next day, the ram wasn't slaughtered in a rill found on motonet, but was made into a statue celebrated on May Day. There it is still frolicking on the shore today, as it has been doing for almost 400 years. Quite a ram!

Nice place to catch-a-fish, like muikku, delicious finnish summer treat! Also burgers are good in here and not to forgot lörtsyt !!!
I'm sure it is stunning in Winter, or perhaps at the height of summer...we arrived in late May when everything was closed as owners/staff presumably took their post season break. The whole place is nice tho
It was admittedly a cold and rainy day when we visited this market, so a more pleasant day is suggested if possible. We had lovely meals there, regardless of weather, especially the "Lohikeitto" (Salmon Chowder/Soup).
Best place for a summer visit, where you'll find snacks, souvineirs, people, music and lörtsyjä! Highly Recommend!
High tourist prices for farmers’ market produce and the clothing and souvenirs that are really crap. They close some stands already early afternoon even if it’s the best tourist season in July. 😬 plus several drink bars as well as the beautiful location next to the lake.
Bestplace to enjoy the traditional Finnish dish, Muikku with boiled or mashed potatoes. Great place to enjoy a refreshing drink in the summer. The service is attentive and courteous. A must go if visitó g Savolinna town.
Its very beautiful market, very peaceful and boat rides are amazing. Please don't miss the chance to visit savonlinna.
Great place to grab a coffee and a snack in the heart of the city, right by the lake.

(Translated by Google) A really wonderful church right along the main street (olavinkatu). The church was originally built as an Orthodox church in 1848, which was then sold to a Lutheran congregation in 1938, and since 2017, the church has been operating as an Orthodox church again. There have been many changes in the ownership of the church, but it is still open to the public for relaxation and familiarization. The church got its first organ in 1985 and the altarpiece in 2000, which is a Christmas-themed painting from the 1600s that is considered an icon and depicts the birth of Christ. I recommend ☀️✨ 🌳 🌄 (Original) Todella upea kirkko aivan pääkadun (olavinkatu) varrella. Suosittelen ☀️✨ 🌳 🌄

It is worth to take a trip with the steam ship. It takes you around the lake between some islands and then returns back after circling around the castle. The ship is not immacutely restored, you can see it's an old, working vessel, but everything works as it should do, it's just has that patine, which adds to the atmosphere.
Definitely worth of visit. Over 100 years old steam ship takes 1.5 hours scenic trips near Savonlinna. You can see the Olavinlinna castle from the lake and get a good view on Finnish summer cottages around lake Saimaa. The shop has a little bar and also sells ice cream and cinnamon rolls. There are 2 toilets on board. The ship has two levels and quite steep stairs. There is a nice sun deck upstairs, but you can enjoy the scenery from downstairs as well. If the weather is bad, you can stay inside the saloon. Very nice personnel!

(Translated by Google) Really bad. Overpriced. Bad nasty staff (Original) Todella huono. Ylihinnoitettu. Huono ilkeä henkilökunta
(Translated by Google) Absolutely amazing scenery from the top of the slope! The weather was good and the visibility was great. There aren't many places to compare skiing places, but it's a perfect place for you to learn skiing. There were easier hills and (much too difficult for me) hills. I would have liked more signs for the routes. Otherwise, a nice experience, there was good service in the equipment rental. We will come again :) (Original) Aivan mahtavat maisemat rinteen huipulta! Tullaan uudestaankin :)
(Translated by Google) Small place, but nice slopes. It's a long way from the steepest slope to the lift. (Original) Pieni paikka, mutta kivat rinteet. Reunimmaiselta jyrkimmältä rinteeltä pitkä matka lykkiä hissille.
(Translated by Google) Good place, nice cafe and nice staff. There could be more slopes, but it's really good (Original) Hyvä paikka, kiva kahvio ja mukava henkilökunta. Rinteitä vois olla enemmän mutta tosi hyvä
(Translated by Google) The slopes were in excellent condition, the lift was in excellent condition, the jumps and rails worked. The rails were still all over the place, but the free fall was not prevented. In coffee, e.g. Tazza and omar donuts! Yes yes! Kahviossa mm. Tazzaa ja omarmunkkeja! Jes jes!
(Translated by Google) Fairly gentle and easy slopes, the red one is quite short, but the hills aren't big anyway.
(Translated by Google) Pulkkamäki and slope coffee just right for our group. There were enough people and a good mood. It was enjoyed. (Original) Pulkkamäki ja rinnekahvio just hyvä meidän porukalle. Väkeä riitti ja hyvä meininki. Nautittiin.

Good courts. Cheap prices. Excellent customer service.
(Translated by Google) Overcrowded and small changing rooms, but perfectly functional. 6 outdoor fields, one of which is artificial grass. The benches in the outdoor stand are uncomfortable, so bring a seat cushion! In summer there is a small terrace. Inside, you can play not only tennis, but also squash, ping pong and sahhli. Also a small and affordable gym. Really small spaces to watch tennis inside. Customer service is satisfactory. 6 ulkokenttää joista yksi on keinonurmi. Asiakaspalvelu on tyydyttävä.
(Translated by Google) Great place for tennis. Mainly great arrangement and spirit. Savonlinna is great as a summer city...🇫🇮🍃☀️🎾🤔👌. I will come again. (Original) Hieno paikka tennikselle. Pääosin loistava järjestely sekä spiritti. Savonlinna on kesäkaupunkina loistava...🇫🇮🍃☀️🎾🤔👌. Tulen uudestaan.
