Had a great time visiting here with my family. Lots of really interesting exhibits and some lovely walks in between. It's a full day out and its great for kids too. Lots of animals to say hello to and the cafe was great, really delicious food. To top it all off the staff and volunteers were extremely polite, helpful and welcoming to the museum. Would definitely visit again and recommend to everyone.
Was amazing! We went in the Winter so unfortunately many areas weren't accessible due to reconstruction, so we will definitely be going back in the Summer! Even though some areas couldn't be accessed, there was still so much to see. There were so many snowdrops in bloom which was a delight to see. It's great to see so many aspects of Suffolk preserved, especially as we'd originally assumed they'd been sent to demolision. The staff were attentive, lovely and always willing to share all their knowledge. There are regular talks throughout the day and plenty of adorable animals to see. The cafe was lovely too, offering a good selection of food and drink.
Really enjoyed our visit. Lots to see, I loved the traction engines and old vehicles. My daughter loved holding and feeding a day-old lamb. 80+ acres of fields, water mill, and historic buildings. Coffee shop does great food too. Definitely going again.
Had a brilliant visit. Went for the school meals exhibition - really good and very nostalgic! And great food tasting. Lovely setting, beautiful grounds, house and windmill. Lovely animals (especially the gorgeous lambs). Great guided tour of the diary included in the ticket. Really interesting farm equipment and traction engines. Allowed 4 hours for the visit but needed more time to enjoy walks in ground and enjoy the cafe. I will be back as the ticket lasts for a year. Such a surprise and gem of a visit!
Amazing place to visit and certainly worth the annual pass, which costs the same as a day ticket, but obviously, with the chance of coming back! And even more special with events on, like the East Anglian Storytelling Festival!
A great afternoon at the Food Museum needed much more time than the 3 hours we had. The school dinners area was brilliant.
We attended the food museum for the pizza making & old school cake baking. We were members as we have attended before and got the annual membership (same price as normal entry). It cost £6 per session each 3 of us, if you’re not a member it would have cost £20 each. Very steep. It was lovely, we were the only family booked onto the pizza making so we had exclusive pizza making to ourselves. It was really fun to go pick the vegetables and herbs from the allotments and use them to put on our pizzas. The girls did explain there wasn’t any onions ready or the corn wasn’t ready. We picked some herbs & courgettes , tomatoes & green beans. The girls were really lovely and so fun. One of the girls was taking photos for me so I could enjoy being with my son. We made our pizzas and they were delicious!!! The tomatoes were 10/10. We then had a look around, quite a long walk round in the heat but it was still nice. We then attended the old school cake workshop which I thought was going to be the square cake with icing and sprinkles which was on the post on Facebook but it was chocolate concrete cake. By the time we took it home after putting a lid on a hot container it turned to cake wasn’t any crispy top. We were with another family there who kept licking the bowl clean made me feel a little bit sick 🤢. Not the organisers fault though. But overall lovely day out and we look forward to seeing what’s next. Maybe a Halloween theme? Christmas?
I am surprised by all those extremely positive reviews. People must have expected to go for a walk around an old farm and wished to donate 15 pounds per adult visitor. "Food Museum" is a misleading name leading to disappointment after disappointment... Provides some info about the local and national, recent history, but even there it leaves a great deal wanting. The café called "Feast" is a good but ordinary café, no feasting. "Meet the horses" did not mean we could meet the horses up close and see them in action, for example, but a lady giving the same info as we could read on the sign next to the horses. Only the British School food exhibition was done well but is not worth a detour on your road trip. The staff is friendly, and the old farm and animals provide a nice walk, but that doesn't make it a museum. There are open air museums that provide much more. I would have loved to visit a museum about the history of food, baking, cooking, food production etc. Imagine tasting bread how they used to bake and eat it in Celtic or Roman times, or even before. Even if it were only about East Anglian history, I would have done it so differently myself. Place with great potential, but this potential is hardly explored . Could be so easily improved.

Very fun experience, driving a hovercraft is like nothing I have ever driven. Hard to perfect but so satisfying when you get it right. All the equipment is provided for you.
Took my grandchildren and had a great experience, huge grins on faces all the time. Lee took the time to explain the technique for getting the most out of the ride, and was more than accommodating of our requirements. Excellent event would recommend you try it.
Had a great time, fun for all the family. Lee was great and didn't pass comments when mistakes were made. Highly recommend this activity.
It was a amazing experience and the whole family had a great time , would highly recommend it .lee was brilliant explain everything ,
Great fun. Highly recommended for the whole family!
A unique experience! Challenging & great fun.

The Middy is a super volunteer run heritage railway with regular steam days in the summer together with other events and activities. Absolutely worth a visit if you're passing between Ipswich and Norwich on the A140. Also a good starting point for several decent rural/agricultural and village footpath loops, one of which crosses the line between stations.
We had a nice visit to the Middy with the kids on a nice sunny day. The kids had a search around for some pictures on a treasure hunt style activity and got a small gift as a reward, we also had a few trips on the trains and a look round some model railways. We ended our trip having a drink from the carriage bar which was lovely. The Middy is a beautiful little place with some interesting history. The train ride is not particularly long, although it will be interesting to see how this develops as there are plans to extend it. We probably stayed for about 2.5 hours in total. Unfortunately, there wasn't quite enough for the kids to keep them occupied longer than this, but we enjoyed the time that we were there.
I loved the review from Sam Behling he visited and was disappointed that he had to pay admission to use the cafe, what did he expect! You visit for the museum the cafe is there for the visitor not the passer by.. Furthermore his entitled friend sneaked in to use the pub. My review now, it’s a project in the making it’s a great little railway, staff are really chatty and knowledgeable, one volunteer wasn’t exactly knowledgeable so he passed me onto to someone who could. The cafe was good value even factoring in the admission😁
Was staying locally in a cottage in Stowupland within their welcome pack had a leaflet for Mid-Suffolk Light Railway, having checked the website we noticed it was their last open day before closing for the summer season and planned to make a visit, my son loves Railways and trains which MSLR offered a wide variety of rolling stock, When we arrived we were kindly greeted by the front of house staff in the ticket office and told about the end of season event which included some vintage vehicles, live music and morris dancing, the ticket allowed us access to all the site has to offer as well as unlimited trips on the railway, the Aspal station platform was still a working progress which meant we were not able to disembark and see the platform but it was an enjoyable day none the less, Great onsite facilities including a cafe, bar and multiple information displays about the sites history, ample parking for both regular perking and those who require disabled access and toilets
Great time at middi today. Great to hear about the line extension being completed just waiting for that footpath permission being signed off looking forward to extension opening soon hopefully 2025 . New loco on loan smashing . The loco,'s in the shed are progressing on a pace the people working on them are really knowledgable and great to answer questions . Tea room lovely and a real ale bar as well . Really enjoy my visits here
the mid suffolk light railway having now been, i can say there are some great staff that are passionate and some that are not, notes of a few that need better people skills, a guy working the points on 03/08/25, very fussy and condescending as the train was finished for the day, stating " ill get in the way of your shot, if you do not move", it could have been said in a much better way ", The women over charged me for my tickets, when i have a carer with me is not good, i explain and showed my card, i did get a refund but having to explain myself when they knew exactly what they did is not the best, also fyi dont talk about toyboys or weird stuff like that when you are working, that is not very professional, overall the railway had a feeling of sloppiness, heritage railways are not easy but its the little things, i liked the engines, the engine shed, the model shop guy, but noticed the unnecessary health and safety messages repeated every time when boarding the train, because possible suing or being liable etc got old " dont jump out, stay in the train" stick up for yourself, tell them to shove it, people are not going to get out of a moving train i mean its the slowest ride ive been on, crawling along, this feeble cowardly world we now live in where everything is spoilt, so overall maintain and repair the 1800s carriages they need it , lots of wear and tear, the carriages needed brakes oiling, very screechy, clean out the smoke box very sooty, suggestion make the loco run abit faster even go up the line twice at good speed as an idea as it was snailing along, thank you to all the friendly staff good job and very smart.
Absolutely fantastic little railway. A credit to it's volunteers. It is hard work to achieve what we all do to keep railways alive. Keep it up.
Wonderful new year's day here, riding on the train, being entertained by a fantastic mandolin player in the bar made from a converted carriage. Free mince pies appeared too and were offered to all. We were given a tour of the footplate by the friendly volunteers, saw a vintage lamp display and had a marvellous time. What a lovely, friendly place.

Lovely cinema, really great acoustics and picture quality. Friendly and helpful staff
Lovely small and personal cinema. The staff are kind and helpful. Good deals on food for the children's snacks.
Just adore this little cinema They have every thing right. Prices are a lot cheaper than other cinemas. Plenty of leg room and scrummy cakes Car parking a breeze Well done staff and Stowmarket Town Council
Excellent independent cinema and live music venue. With cafe and bar. There are 3 screens and very comfortable seats
The Regal Cinema and Theatre Is local to me. I always enjoy coming here with my family to watch newly released films and the Christmas Pantomime hosted by SODS. There are hot and cold drinks and a slushy machine which serves a variety of different flavours, and some chocolatey snacks and sweet or salty popcorn. Staff are always polite, friendly and helpful. The Regal has an online website so you can see what’s on and book In advance if you prefer. The Regal café is located inside the Regal so you can get lunch and watch a movie after. There’s a car park next door to cinema. I Highly recommend coming here.
We attended our first film at this newly reopened cinema and really enjoyed the venue following its major refurbishment. The entrance is now pretty spacious for a venue of its size, the new cafe is great and the staff were friendly and all following social distancing. The cinema now has three screens, with screen one having great seating and excellent sound. Prices are pretty reasonable and parking is free on a Sunday. The only suggestion I have is to offer larger drinks as I had finished my soft drink by half way through the film.
Great breakfast wrap, awesome loaded hashbrowns. Legendary scones
Was nice to see the newly developed cinema 📽️ the cafe on the side is excellent. Cinema is small but excellent leg room for a tall one like me. Very enjoyable.

Really lovely place. Only just discovered. Open 1st and 2nd weekends of the month. Only open one more weekend then closed till Easter and maybe not reopening which is a shame. Free museum. Wonderful items. Lovely cake!
Lovely quiet campsite , beautiful surroundings, owners very nice. The only thing that would improve it would be having hot water. We will definitely go back .
Astonishing private bygone museum hidden away in suffolk. Wonderful to visit for any age.
Fantastic local museum focusing the locality of Buxhall. Spent ages in here and will return. No better advert that that.
If you like nostalgia and appreciation for past then this is the place for you. The exhibits are available to view up close and art work to appreciate They have a nice coffee shop for tea or coffee and cakes to enjoy and reasonable in price. I recommend it. They also have places to enjoy with your caravan, its peaceful , quiet and the owners will help you if needed with local area needs.
Nice for a quick trip out if on the local area. Good collection of photos and objects in the free museum. (Donations) Tea/coffee and a selecton home made cakes at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit!!
Well worth a visit. If you're over 50 it will bring back some memories. And to crown it all off a lovely tea room with home made cakes.
Always a pleasure to see such memories preserved in such a cared for way. A truly remarkable time capsule. Lovely way to spend an hour or more and of course has to be finished off with tea and cake in the lovely cafe. Ten out of ten every time!

Wonderful venue, run mainly by volunteers who clearly care about what they do. Nice to see it as a permanent memorial for John Peel, and it's a suitably welcoming place that I'll look forward to hopefully visiting again.
We had such a lovely time at the hoedown showdown last night. Great atmosphere. The staff were so lovely (a lot of them volunteers too!!!) Great venue. Would definitely come again.
Great gig by Ian McNabb in a fabulous intimate venue. All the staff were really helpful & friendly. Great selection of beers & other drinks.
Nice evening with Home Cooked Blues, album launch. Cool venue.
It's a great venue and you can get right up close to the band
Excellent live music venue in Stowmarket. Volunteer run and supported with bar, cloakroom and toilets on site. Great mix of local, rising and established live music acts. Intimate venue with great sight lines and terrific atmosphere.
Great resource for premium gigs, as well as encouraging new artists and music. Of huge value to the local community.
Saw the Thomas Heppell Band, who were excellent. Good intimate venue with bar, somewhere to park your coat, friendly staff and we even got a seat, so not always standing room only
