Beautiful scenery, majestic mountains. Short ride from Santiago. Worth visiting.
Absolutely beautiful but the road feels like a death trap
I came here on a day trip from Santiago as I wanted to cross the Andes off my list, but this is one of the few places I felt was a waste of time and money. It looks beautiful in winter, but in the summer it's just barren rock. But even so, it's just a reservoir surrounded by low barren mountains, nothing special. I can drive a couple hours from my house and see much nicer alpine lakes. If you've never been to the mountains before, sure you come here. Othwerwise, it's not worth it at all. Not to mention when we were there, there were tour vans illegally driving on the path and some local kid threw a rock at a fox. Actually, the fox sighting was the only thing that made it worth it.
Is a very scenic place with turquoise water and mountain views. The road is narrow and partly unpaved, so drive carefully. Nearby there is a small, mediocre café where you can buy water, empanadas, and instant coffee, but it’s better to bring everything with you. A quiet spot for photos and short walks.
A very beautiful place. The scenery was amazing, I totally enjoyed the view despite the freezing cold. This is a place totally worth visiting
Fantastic view. Out of this world colours of the water, mountains birds. Great to have parking place and cute cafes in the way. Road by car is not for the faint hearted but totally passable with a normal car.
Wonderful place! It's different in summer and winter and on both seasons the view is amazing. It's really close to Santiago and on summer you can go just by yourself. Rent a car and take your time there, guided tours will be expensive and you'll leave the place still wanting to stay a little longer. On winter though maybe a guided tour would be safer but on summer, go by yourself on a rented car!
Visited this wonderful location twice whilst on a trips to Santiago. We went both times with a great company called Ski total and arrived at the location after approx 2hr drive out of the city. The scenery is truly breathtaking and stunning with plenty of wonderful photo opportunities. There is a mobile refreshment van a short walk away if your feeling a bit peckish and a picnic area with toilets a short 10 min drive away. It really is a must visit location if visiting Santiago.

Great place for pictures
It may sound crazy but I drive through and walked this tunnel. Almost about in the middle it’s pitch black dark you can’t see anything . It was fun
Good place to visit. A little creepy but fun! :) We stopped by on the way to Cajón del Maipo. It has an interesting history behind it.
Emotional place with a cold and eerie feeling. RIP to the 20,000+ souls killed there by the dictatorship
Nice roadside attraction on the way from Santiago to Cajón del Maipo. The estructure itself is interesting, about 500ft long (from one end the other end can almost be seen) and can be traversed either on foot or with a small vehicle (ie, no larger than a medium-sized pickup). If traversing on vehicle, send someone on foot first to the other end so they warn off any vehicle trying to traverse in the reverse direction (otherwise you or it will need to go through a rather difficult and tight rear driving session).
When going back from Embalse el Yeso the tour guide offered to stop at the Tinoco tunnel a place where a guy killed himself because of a broken heart. The tunnel became a place of pilgrimage for locals. The "tour" is going through the dark tunnel. I personally was concerned about robbery but everything went well.
It is a must when you go to cajon del maipo
Very interesting spot

Amazing park filled with amazing mountains, hiking trails with the best scenery rivaling the Alps. Very easy to tackle with many simple trails, come out here with an experienced guide to really take advantage of all the trails this place has to offer.
Just wow! Must visit, if you are in Santiago! Great unspoiled spot just in couple of hours or so ride from Santiago. Easily accessible without pricey tours - there are several buses running, including regular (every day in summer time; weekends - in winter time) MetroBus MB-72 (starts from Terminal Bellavista de La Florida at 7:30; starts back to Santiago from Banos Morales at 18:00, 8K pesos per person for roundtrip). Hike is relatively easy, compared to Cerro Pochoco/ Cerro Manquehue and involves almost no climbing; takes around 8 KM from the start of the route (Baños Morales) to end of the route (Glaciar San Francisco). 5-6 hours should be enough for roundtrip (including some time for bird watching, flowersniffing and enjoying great scenery). Be sure to have plenty of water (2 liters per person worked in our case), hiking shoes, sunscreen (little to no shade on the route).
Perfect! A beautiful sight and not crowded with tourists. A 6 km total trekking with gorgeous views of the canyon.
Really worthwhile, a rather short trekking to a glacier valley. Small fee to paid at the entrance to be registered and stay safe.
Very nice hot spring area, the wind in the valley is a bit strong, but once you are in the water, it's warm enough to make you forget the wind. No hot water for shower, so be prepared. Charging room gets crowded in the afternoon.
Steep trail for the first mile up to the laguna, but flattens out.
Absolutely loved this hike please add this to your itinerary while in Chile. Bring some good boots, hiking poles will help for sure. I can't wait to go back!!
Great place for mountain trekking, gorgeous views, great chance to see the glacier even during the summer.

This a beautifully scenic hike just a two hour drive outside Santiago. There are a few different starting points, the shortest distance being a small parking lot in front of the gate of the Rock Quarry. It be sure to brink lots of water in the summer and wear proper sun protection because shade stops are scarce along the route. You’ll see alpine wild flowers as well as horses and goats while winding your way up the glacier carved valley surrounded by towering peaks on either side. 5/5 IG: adventureoveramenities_
(Translated by Google) It's been a long time since I was there at San Francisco Glacier (2011), but the memory is still fresh. It was a bit of a hassle getting there. It wasn't the path itself that was difficult, but rather the journey to the starting point of the path. Without the sensational persuasive skills of Julio (El Brasileño), who convinced a taxi driver to please take us to the starting point, we would probably have stayed at the bottom. The three of us, El Checo, El Brasileño y El Suizo, then hiked the relatively easy route to the glacier. Actually, up there you are almost only a stone's throw away from Argentina. The beautiful nature on the way to the glacier and there itself can be seen very well in the photos.

Super good experience, the trail is of low intensity, we went with an 8-year-old child and the walk was very comfortable for him, in certain parts of the trail you have to cross the river, but the water level did not exceed the knees. Throughout the trek there is the opportunity to go into the river, and the views are beautiful. It is important that you take your garbage away! In the Devil's Dungeon there were cigarette butts, garbage and lost clothes!! Please let's be responsible with our things and if you see trash, take it down ❤️✨🌿.

(Translated by Google) MY OPINION ABOUT THE COYANCO RESERVE CAMPING. Beautiful natural place🌾🏞️, however consider this before you go: 🪨The road at one point is quite rocky and difficult, so you must have a car 🚙🚗that can withstand that type of terrain and movement. 💰The price is $12,000 for camping, this considering that there are only 🚽3 bathrooms and🚿 2 showers (for ♀️and the same amount for ♂️), the faucets of the dishwashers🍽️ outside are quite deteriorated, the water does not come out well but shoots for everywhere. Furthermore, the water💦 runs out of the drums, we must wait for them to replenish it again. AND FEW RUNS 🗑️ that fill up. There are camping tables available, but you must arrive early to grab one. 🐝Wasps galore, if you're afraid of them, don't go hahaha 🎶 People who go alone to CARRET to the place, I have nothing against playing music softly but they play at FULL volume and this happens a lot in high season, when they go in groups, at night especially there is noise in the early morning. ⛲The pools are down on the left side of the campsite so sometimes the paths to go down to bathe are a little difficult, especially for older people 👵 and small children 👧, but there are always some marked paths where you can get off easily. ⛺Be careful, you cannot camp next to the river because the terrain does not allow it, it is very rocky🪨. Although there are people who cross to the other side and put up tents which is not allowed. 🧐Little supervision of the place, as I said there are people who camp outside the camping area and in general, there are no people in charge observing the place or the areas, etc. Therefore, reckless people expose themselves to danger, if they camp far from the camping area there is no road by car that arrives or rescue that arrives quickly. Be cautious.🙏 🚮People sometimes leave beer cans, food trash or packages so sometimes you can find trash on the road. Please pick it up and don't do the same.😮‍💨 The good thing is: ⛲Pozones are wonderful, there are all over the estuary and it is very long. Obviously the water is cold, but in the afternoon it becomes warmer due to the sun. 🚶‍♀️The possibility of trekking, since the terrain is gigantic and the further you go, the better the holes there are, be careful that when the camping area ends there is no more road by car and that's where the trekking begins. 😈You can reach the famous "Devil's Dungeon" personally, it is of medium difficulty but you have to cross the river about 3 times on the way and don't go with children!! There is a moment on the road that is quite dangerous and you can slip. Also, they can be easily LOST, since the signage that is only a white mark or something hanging on a branch sometimes does not look good. 🥲 If you go, do it early and bring food for the road, special shoes, a walking stick. trekking (ideal) and comfortable clothing. The road is about 2.5km one way and the same back. In the end the reward is 🏊‍♀️bathing in the Dungeon well where there is a small waterfall. The pot is pretty deep as you go, we're talking over 1.70. deep.⚠️ Be careful, the place may not be empty, there are quite a few people so they fill the spaces with shadow around the Dungeon. 🌲With all that I wish you a good camping trip and enjoy the nature 🏞️ that this beautiful place offers. Ideally go in low season it is more peaceful 🍃✨. It's a good place to go as a family👨‍👩‍👦‍👦, arrive early to grab a good place with shade✨ PS: bring a sunshade if you want to go swimming in the estuary, because there is no shade at all and a lot of people get burned.☀️and bring chalas or water shoes, there are too many rocks and they bother your feet. PS2: The photo I uploaded is the first signage of the trekking to the Dungeon and a video of the trekking path, and the last one is the Dungeon.📸 (Original) MI OPINIÓN SOBRE EL CAMPING RESERVA COYANCO.

Simple trekking of 1 hour and a half, from baños del plomo to the lagoon, were lives differents types of ducks as the Piuquenes, the Juarjual or the Taguas
