Beautiful place. Lots of interesting wild life. Easy trails to walk around the crater. Very windy and in the high 50’s in the middle of summer.
This lagoon was formed by the accumulation of water in the crater of an extinct volcano. The shades of this body of water range from green to deep blue depending on how much sun it gets. There are no commercial excursions to get there. If you want to visit, you should rent a car or hire a chauffer from one of the local travel agencies. Maca Tobiano has the most competitive fares for this particular trip. Once there, the only thing you have is nature, no food or drink stalls, or information office so take your own refreshments, and warm clothes, scarf and mittens, it can get very chilly and windy. Best time to visit, October to April.
nice and windy place close to the city to travel to and see, it's a nice view on it's own and you can also relax sitting in one of the rocks around the place and drink mate :)
Super rainy, foggy, moody day out here at the lagoon.
Beautiful place of natural beauty.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful place, southern edge of the continent, an active lighthouse, a museum, and a beautiful penguin colony! Rumbo Aventura took us there in a 4x4 all-terrain vehicle, essential to get there without any setbacks and to be able to enjoy the landscape. Mr. Pedro Márquez, your operator, also took us to Estancia Monte Dinero, and El Condor on the way to the Lighthouse. If we had not found a brochure we would not have been able to have this unique experience. Highly recommended!!! Don't miss it. They also take you to the Blue Lagoon and Punta Loyola, where the Maryorie Glenn ship is stranded, and there are monuments to the Avisdores Héroes de Malvinas, which is really very exciting. I recommend calling or writing to the Monte Dinero tourism office beforehand to confirm whether it's open or not. The road to get there is horrible, but it's worth it. If you're going, go and enjoy the peace and quiet, as there isn't a wide range of things to do; just enjoy the view, the peace, and the wind. (Original) Excelente, no fui como turistas pero disfruté. It's the old house of the first locals who started expansion of the town. Great guide!
It's a small but cute museum about one of the oldest houses in Rio Gallegos. They do have English and Spanish signs around the museum to explain what everything is. You can do a self guided tour or ask for a tour guide to explain all the items in the home that were donated to help make this museum. Definitely a treat to learn about the history of a town and a nice little garden to walk around.

Small but very nice museum. You get greeted at the door including a small introduction. The explanations etc are only in Spanish but there is free WiFi available so that you could for example use translate. We enjoyed it very much especially as everywhere in town you will find references to the Islas Malvinas.
Knowledgeable staff gave a good tour in Spanish. The museum is small but full of information and artifacts. A war veteran was present, even. There is clearly a nationalistic bias, but educational nonetheless. Free.
Very interesting small museum. Just reopened some days ago. Nice employee explained a lot for us. Everything is labeled in Spanish. Worth visiting!
Place is tiny but definitely worth visiting. We were curious about the war and wanted to know more about it from Argentinian perspective. The lady arranged us a tour in English, explained everything and answered all our questions. She even recommended us some books where more info could be found ♥️ if you are a foreigner do not hesitate and visit this lovely place.
Interesting to see how Argentina views the "war". For incorrect reasons many people feel the Falklands should be under Argentina control. Unless the history I read is rubbish, Argentina has no more right to claim the islands than Spain or even France. I suggest people Google and read the facts. Britain did NOT throw anyone out in 1833 by the way. But whatever, the war was a travesty. For Galteri to send troops, conscripted boys too, to the islands to "take them back" was a disgrace. Did he really think Britain would do nothing? What message would that give? Yet everyone blames the British for the deaths of those boys and men. Britain was defending its people. Right or wrong. Argentina military would have done the same. Then the Argentine military planted thousands of mines. Why? They locked up over 120 residents in a small building with little to eat or drink for 2 months. Why? Destroying radios so there would be no contact. Why? Winning the hearts of the locals? Such a shame the Argentine people can't see that Galteri sacrificed those men to make himself look good. Thanks to him over 900 decent young men, British and Argentina died. For what? A little island. And then he got thrown out anyway.
Really interesting, and very balanced view. The staff were super friendly and explained everything well.
Interesting museum. Basically all in Spanish, though. But you can see pictures and other stuff that dont really need words. The most beautiful part was the letters between warriors and their families. I missed to read some from the English warriors too, but I understand that they want to show that their on Argentina's side on the war, so the museum isnt as neutral as I would expect. War is sad for everyone, be them Argentinian, British, or all the flora and fauna living around their conflict areas. One thing that I didn't like much were the staff talking in the back room, as I could hear them and that was making it difficult to focus on reading. But I like the guidance provided by them and I thank them for their volunteer work. Worth visiting the museum!
A really interesting museum about the Malvinas War. Run by volunteers, with many artefacts, models and letters. The volunteer when we visited was so helpful and friendly and explained the exhibits in English. The information is written in Spanish, but they have Wi-Fi so you can translate with the photo translator option on the Google translate app. Don't forget to donate when you visit!

We painted them half yellow and half red on the sides. We used to put the tare and gross weight on them. We sometimes drank mate on one of those locomotives. I remember that inside the workshop, there was a tall man with white hair who didn't have any yerba mate. He gave us some mate so we could drink it to keep us warm. It's a beautiful memory for me. That would be wonderful!!! (Original) El museo tiene mucha historia. Es interesante ver como trabajaban en aquellas épocas.
