Great spot that’s well worth the visit. As opposed to the commonly visited “middle of the world city” in northern Quito, THIS one is actually the legitimate equator (the other one is close, but off by about 70 meters). We had an English speaking guide who explained everything.
Museum located on the equator line with some great explanations (including diagrams) of the related astronomical phenomena. Fun to play around with your phones compass too. There is also an agave garden with an impressive collection. Well worth a short stop whilst pasig through. Far less crowded and gimmicky than similar equatorial museums
Great fun for all the family. English speaking guide. After the brief tour we were free to wander and it’s a lovely place.
We had a guided tour and it was excellent. We learnt quite a lot and we loved all the interesting facts given by Cristobal. Everybody was very friendly and we enjoyed wondering around the botanical garden and taking many pictures of the Equator Line. We bought the complete pack and it is amazing. We highly recommend visiting this place.
Nice monument at latitude 0, that can also be seen by IR satellite imaging. Surrounded by a nice cactus garden. Local guidance, not so good english. Good explanation signs everywhere. At the end of the tour, they give you a whole lecture on a new mapping method the suggest..... From all the "middle of earth" locations near Quito, this is probably the best.
Cool, interesting site/museum. Informative english/spanish tour is included in $5 entry. I was one of the only people there so basically could had the whole place to explore for myself!
To be present on the sun dial is absolutely amazing. This is if you've been dreaming to go there. To get here with public transport is quite an effort. So if this is the option that you consider, get going by 6 a.m. To follow Google Maps direction is good enough. The busses are crowded so prepare to swim among the sea of commuters. Quitsato is a NGO and has a $5 entrance fee. The explanation from the guide there was comprehensive and very detailed. There is also a Agave garden which is impressive. At the end Quitsato sells their branded maps. The maps are a little expensive, but if you love maps, they are only sold at Quitsato Solar Clock. So if you are not planning on going back... Well you can decide for yourself.

If you are looking for a traditional place to have chocolate and bizcochos, I’ll say that this is the place. It has been opened since 1974. The flavor is amazing. Make sure to get: queso de hoja (if you are a cheese fan you might like this). Parking can be a little tricky, so keep in mind that.
This is the factory where the busicuit tradition basically started. Located just across the cemetery, you'll find this authentic place where you can purchase and sit to enjoy the experience. It is not particularly a beautiful or warm place but you'll feel welcomed. Luckily we arrived at the time when the bizcochos were being made and were able to see the process. It is a must visit if you are in Cayambe
The original and most delicious bizcochos. Each bag costs around a $1 and includes 7, which is an amazing deal for some well made bizcochos. Also recommend purchasing a dulce de Leche or dipping sauce they also sell there. The owners and staff are also very friendly.
Famous bizcochos. Delicious Ecuadorian cookies.
A must if you travel to Cayambe. These are the real ones!
Nice restaurant for traditional Bizcochos de queso. Bizcochos are freshly made there. Breakfast is great, very popular place with a musician playing outside
This place has been open for business since the mid 70s. It is located near to the cemetary of Cayambe, this is where all the locals go for this delicacy- bizcochos cooked in wood burning clay oven. They give you a freshly cooked sample so you can try it first. Fresh string cheese available too. I highly recommend it! Open til 7pm during the week.
Best bizcochos anywhere! We’ve been coming here for years and we love this place
