Our 2nd adventure here. Love the hikes & the volcanic black sand beach is my favorite. When we move to Ecuador in 3 short years we plan to truly explore this beautiful area 🇪🇨❤️
A magical and beautiful beach. Most of it is clean and well maintained but when we walked to the north side we saw garbage and plastic thrown on the beach. It sucks that visitors to the place behave disrespectfully. Overall a great experience. You can rent an umbrella at the entrance, there are toilets and showers for a fee, parking $2.
Without a doubt one of the most spectacular beaches in the World! Absolutely pristine and breathtaking. Great for relaxing, snorkeling or simply taking in the gorgeous views. It's a protected national park so expect bag checks from park rangers and a closing time of 3:00 PM.
Fantastic place to visit. Private beach in Puerto Lopez Ecuador.
Beautiful, pristine, white sand beach with gorgeous cliffs. You can walk the entire length of the beach. You cannot bring food into this park it is prohibited to smoke and bring any glass inside. You will have to lock everything in a locker before you go in that is food or drink related other than water. Remember this is the equator so the sun is very intense here remember to apply and re-apply sunscreen every 3 hours. Bring plenty of water to drink throughout the day. The riptide was very strong during January and we could not go very far into the ocean. The water was beautiful and they also have snorkeling.
Not worth the trip, very disappointing. Entry fee, parking fee, and the scenery and beach are better in Puerto Lopez. My car now needs a new air filter from the 2KM+ dusty road. Don't bother.
Nice nature park beach, calm and relaxed walk
Definitely a five star beach!! Clean, expansive, picturesque, good for swimming, beach combing, sunbathing or exploring tidal pools and clambering over the rocks, this is a great place to visit. Sun cream and protective clothing highly recommended. If going by bus, please be forewarned that there is about a forty minute walk along a gravel road with no shade from the park entrance to the beach. Once at the beach there is a concession stand with some basic food items and beach umbrellas for rent.

Great location for scuba diving. Plenty of whales to see on the boat ride from Puerto Lopez. Observed giant mantas and whale sharks. Medium currents and good visibility.
The days are fresh and overcast with a wind driven mist in the air. We are near the equator where it should be hot yet the Humboldt current flowing from the Antarctic waters and La Niña are keeping the temperatures cool. A day of beauty and good vibes started with a hot cup of coffee on the swim platform. The dark sky highlighted the white splashing of water as humpback whales played. The Galapagos albatross could be seen offshore near the humpback’s as the frigate birds circle above near the barren cliffs covered in scrub brush and cactus. Several Blue footed boobies dove into the water with a vengeance hunting for prey. Tonight the stars could be seen in the water not the cloudy sky. The light drizzle formed a galaxy as it fell upon the ocean. The plankton glowed, like it was electrified as the droplets completed the circuit. Mesmerizing light patterns from gliding turtles and streaking fish. An unimaginable complex glowing river like flow with turbulent vortices could be seen as a giant ray flew by underneath the surface. Isla de La Plata off the coast of Ecuador is absolutely stunning and brings so much peace to my soul. Much love and peace, Gene @merlins.ocean.odyssey
Beautiful island to visit. Came during the off season (no whales) and it was still worth the visit- saw many baby blue-footed booby birds, took the “shorter” path to the cliff side that offered an incredible view. Hike was steep and little shade cover - straight up many steps at the beginning. Bring a hat, bathtub suit for snorkeling, good walking shoes, water bottle (no concessions on the island) and sunscreen.
Beautiful island with a lot of wildlidlfe like birds, snakes and other smale reptiles. Be aware to take a pet, sunscreen and insect repelient in rain saison. There might be a lot of 'non poison' insects/muscitos which are anoying. You have several hiking trails on the island which you can take dependent on the time you have. Also you can combine it with snorkling trip where you will see stingrays, pufferfish and a lot of turtles.
Poor man's Galapagos. Blue footed boobys and other birds all over. Turtles, dolphins and much more. $40 from Puerto Lopez outside of whale season. $45+ during whale season. Tours include small sandwiches and some fruit. Bring sun screen!
A true gem. They call it the poor man's Galapagos, I think not. Such an amazing place to visit. Saw many birds, turtles and snorkled. Highly recommended Great value.
Amazing wild place. You have possibilities to admire wilderness and animals.
This is a must to visit. The wildlife and the full experience is worthy!
