A Hidden Gem of Peace and Beauty I visited the Monastery of St. Mary in Zvërnec yesterday, and I was absolutely enchanted. The wooden bridge leading to the small island gives you the feeling of stepping into another world — peaceful, untouched, and full of history. The monastery itself is a beautiful piece of Byzantine architecture, simple but deeply spiritual. Surrounded by tall pine trees and the calm waters of the lagoon, it’s the perfect place to disconnect and reflect. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Vlora area. It’s a short drive but offers a truly unique and serene experience.
The Monastery is nice and in good condition, there is a free parking place, so it worth taking the time to visit. I gave 4 stars because the lake is dirty with litter and the access pontoon is in a bad shape.
A small church that is worth visiting more for its position on that island and the special pontoon that leads to it! There is also a large parking lot that seems to be little known because most people park on the road. Park in the parking lot, it's free and you clear the road too!
St. Mary’s Monastery is a beautiful and peaceful place full of history and charm. The old stone walls, icons, and altar create a truly spiritual atmosphere, and the surroundings are just as lovely. The walk across the wooden bridge to get there was really cool and added to the experience. The only downside is that the water around it has quite a bit of trash, which is a real shame for such a special place. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Beautiful very climatic small monastery. Ideal if you are passing near Vlora for 30min stop to spread your legs a bit. The bridge was very fun and I must say very good place for nice pictures of the surroundings. Heard that there are nearby some very interesting bunkers but due to gravel road we passed this as were in rush. The monastery is very old and a bit shocked that this is rather underdog in regard to popularity.
A gorgeous Monastery located on an accessible island. The Monastery itself is small, but the area around is gorgeous. There are many well kept buildings, a small garden and a bridge that takes you there. The whole experience is worth it.
We from The Netherlands visited the Monastery during our round-trip through Albanië. Very well you feel the ancienity and the bridge towards it, makes the trip very special. Inside the church is beautiful as you can see on the picture enclosed.
Nice small place! Entrance was for free. If you have a bicycle you can leave next to the monastery - on the bridge! Good to combine this place and light house next to

During my recent trip to Vlorë, I had the chance to visit the Independence Monument, and it left a lasting impression on me. Standing in front of this towering symbol of Albania’s fight for freedom, I couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to the sacrifices and struggles that shaped our nation’s history. The monument is breathtaking in its design. Ismail Qemali, proudly holding the Albanian flag, immediately caught my attention. It’s not just a statue—it’s a vivid representation of the moment Albania declared its independence on November 28, 1912. Surrounding him are figures representing the unity of Albanians from all regions, including Kosova, who joined hands in the fight for a free and independent Albania. As I stood there, I couldn’t stop thinking about the struggles our people endured to achieve independence. It reminded me of how intertwined the histories of Albania and Kosova are and how both continue to fight for their rightful place in the world. Visiting this monument made me appreciate not only our history but also the resilience and determination that define us as a nation. If you’re ever in Vlorë, I highly recommend visiting the Independence Monument. It’s not just a historical site; it’s an emotional experience that connects you to Albania’s past and inspires pride in our heritage. Whether you’re passionate about history or simply exploring the beauty of Vlorë, this monument is a must-see. For me, this visit was more than sightseeing—it was a reminder of what it means to be part of a nation that never gave up on its dream of freedom. If you haven’t been yet, add it to your list. It’s an experience you won’t forget!
The Monument of Independence is a monument in Vlorë, Albania, dedicated to the Albanian Declaration of Independence. It is found in the Flag's Plaza.
Vlore is a lovely place to go for a visit or even to stay at an apartment for a holiday as the beach here is lovely and the sea is perfect. You can walk out for ages and you are just up to your waist in the water. So warm. Feels lovely on your skin. I would go back there.. loved vlore.
The Independence Monument in Vlorë is a powerful and symbolic landmark, beautifully representing Albania’s struggle for freedom. The monument is striking in design, surrounded by a vibrant square where history comes alive. A must-see for anyone visiting the city, as it offers both cultural pride and a perfect spot for photos.
....nice place, huge monument!
Nice monument and a must visit
Impressive monument in celebration of Albania's independence from the Ottoman Empire proclaimed in Vlore in 1912. The monument itself dates from the 70s so it is typical of the heroic Communist style. The park near it is clean and well maintained. Don't miss the ancient ruins of Vlora very nearby

We were there in April, admission was free. Only a wall remained from the castle, but the view of the city is simply wonderful.
Cool castle ruins with a beautiful views but not worth the price paid. It was 3 euros and took about 5 minutes to walk around the site. There was one plaque with a bit of information on it. I would recommend it if it was free and on your way, but I would not say it's worth going out of your way for it.
A historical spot with a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere. The ruins are well-preserved, offering a glimpse into the region’s medieval past. The views from the top are beautiful—especially at sunset—and the surrounding countryside adds to the experience. There isn’t much signage or tourist infrastructure, so it’s best for those who enjoy exploring quietly and imagining the history on their own. A great stop for history lovers and photographers alike!
We were the only ones ( in April) there so we had plenty of time to take as many pictures and just relax up there, it was great with amazing views. But I can imagine that if it's crowded in peak season you might have a different experience.
Kanina Castle was one of the highlights of our trip to Vlora. Just a short drive from the city, it felt like stepping back in time. No crowds, no noise—just epic views, ancient stones, and total peace. You can see all of Vlora Bay from the top. Tip: Go before sunset for the best light and fewer people. Bring water and good shoes—the path is a bit rocky but totally worth it!
Only ruins, but I recommend the hiking trail though, it is beautiful, but unfortunately hard to find from the bottom of the mountain
In Albania every piece of stone has history. Kanina castle was rather ruins but still very beautiful.
Beautiful castle, well maintained, amazing views, definitely worth visiting. Few restaurants and bars inside

Ali Pasha Tepelena Castle near Porto Palermo Beach is a must—just a quick 5-minute hike up from the pebbly shore. 3€ per person gets you in for those jaw-dropping sea views from the top. Compact, atmospheric, and the perfect beach break; totally elevates your day. Highly recommend!
Interesting castle. We visited during preparations of some concert, so cables, chairs, stuff was everywhere and it kind od ruined the photos. The views are nice. Great price of history. The path leading to the castle was not really welcoming, lot of rubbish everywhere (like in all Albania).
A small fortress, a well-preserved piece of history, but not well-showcased. There are no legends or descriptions of the times and history of the fortress. There is no dedicated parking; you can park your car near the bay and walk for about 5 minutes. The fee is minimal, and it's worth a visit, but again, without descriptions, a story... the experience feels dry.
Porto Palermo is an amazing place full of history and charm. The views are absolutely stunning, especially on sunny days when the turquoise water sparkles in the sunlight — it looks truly breathtaking. There’s also a nice restaurant nearby, maybe not the cheapest, but the food is genuinely delicious and worth it. The whole area has a fantastic atmosphere and is definitely worth visiting. However, there is one major problem that really needs attention — cleanliness. Unfortunately, the place can be very dirty at times. We’ve been there several times, and piles of garbage with a terrible smell were left lying around. It’s shocking that such a beautiful and popular destination, visited by so many tourists every day, is not properly maintained. It’s surprising that the local authorities allow this to happen in such a remarkable location. Despite this issue, I still highly recommend visiting Porto Palermo. It’s a beautiful spot where you can swim, relax, or even come with a camper van or launch a jet ski or a small boat. It truly has great potential — I just hope the cleanliness will soon match the beauty of this place.
For €3 per person it was fine, but not a place I’d go out of my way to visit. Nice views from the top of the castle and it is probably interesting for those that know the history, but there was no information about the history on site for those that didn’t do any reading prior to the visit. We went during off season so there was enough parking, but I imagine that parking would be tricky when it’s busy. Entry fee was only payable in cash.
Porto Palermo Castle is a great stop if you’re exploring the Albanian Riviera. The entrance fee is 300 LEK (cash only), and there’s plenty of parking right in front, which makes it super convenient. The castle itself is small but interesting, with beautiful views over the bay and some great photo opportunities. There’s also a lovely little beach right next to it which is perfect for a quick swim or just relaxing after your visit. It’s a nice, easy visit that doesn’t take too long and is definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area!
Very nice and big castle to explore. We had only a few people there, but I think it can get crowded. There is a free parking at the beach (the beach I wouldn't reccommend, because there was quite a lot of trash around, but some people were still there)
Porto Palermo Castle is a stunning surprise on Albania’s southern coast. Perfect for a break from beach days, its fortress walls and sea views transport you back in time. Explore, snap photos, and soak in history with a side of Adriatic breeze.

A notable 16th-century mosque now stands as a cultural monument with a prayer hall & stone minaret.
Slide 1 of 8
Visiting the mosque gave me a deep appreciation for its nearly 500-year history and its role as a symbol of Albania’s cultural and religious harmony. If you’re in Vlorë, it’s a must-see destination that beautifully combines history, faith, and architectural beauty.
We drove out specifically to see the mosque in the middle of the week during the middle of the day. It was all locked up, and we were not able to enter at all. It is a powerful looking structure in the center of the city, but it is definitely not worth the drive and working to find parking only to end up seeing the outside alone.
When we talk about Turkish Architecture, immediately we remember Mimar Sinan. The Muradie Mosque or Lead Mosque (Xhamia e Plumbit) is a Cultural Monument of Albania, located in Vlorë. Few days ago, we visited other Lead Mosque in Shkoder. The mosque was built in 1537 by the famous Ottoman Turkish architect Mimar Sinan during the rule of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. A water well is in the ground of the mosque.
Surprisingly new and functional, clean, bright mosque, clean fence, orderly shoe stacking, colorful carpets, obviously renovated with care outside. Very modern ablution area, new looking gorgeous red patterned tiles outside, white marble, with ornaments even. Nicely done. Inside is very old. Very small but interesting, consider how long it's sat here. Minaret surprisingly looks original (how many earthquakes has it seen?), in great shape. Parking on the street wherever, not easy to find. Located right in old town, near open square and giant monument.
Yesterday, I visited the 16th century mosque located near some local landmarks, approx 1 to 5.5 minutes away like the Independence Monument, the old town of Vlore and the wall ruins of Aulon.
The Muradie Mosque (Xhamia e Muradies) is one of the most important Ottoman landmarks in Vlora, Albania. Built in 1542 by renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, this mosque blends Islamic and Byzantine architectural elements. With its elegant dome and well-preserved stone structure, it has stood for centuries as a symbol of the Ottoman presence in Albania. It’s the only known building in Albania designed by Mimar Sinan — the same architect behind Istanbul’s iconic Süleymaniye Mosque.
A beautifully renovated mosque that attracts attention with its charm and peaceful atmosphere. I had the chance to visit it years ago, around six years back, and now the improvements are very clear and impressive. The restoration kept the traditional spirit alive, making it both authentic and welcoming. The only thing I found unfortunate is that the Friday prayer was not being held here during my visit, as the mosque seemed closed for that purpose, which left me a bit disappointed.
Unfortunately it is under renovation, but the janitor shows us this mosque.

In the House of Independence, where the flag rises, A light of freedom, under the care of Ismail Qemali, For a free, strong, and glorious Albania, In this sacred place, filled with pride and faith.
Very close to the hotel I stayed. I used google to reach there. Such a nice and old building constructed in 1844. It has few rooms, mainly photos of Albanian heroes against Ottoman invasion. You only need to read to understand. Few visitors and the tickets is 300 Lek for my visit which ends in 2 minutes.
A fascinating museum that brings Albania’s history to life, a great way to learn about the country’s history and its founding fathers! I recommend the curators of the museum to add more informative captions in english for the non-albanian speakers.
A small, but interesting museum going through the history of the Albanian independence. The curator was friendly and the tariff is inexpensive. The museum isn't always open according to the times on the door.
I was there with my fiancée, we like visiting museums, art galleries and other cultural venues, however the experience in this museum was hugely underwhelming. We went there spurred on by the positive reviews, but we left massively disappointed. The museum consists of mainly of the pictures of figures that were important in Albania’s history, but there is no real narrative through the museum. Next to every picture is pretty much the same mundane description this John Doe was a hugely important person in Albania’s history, but it gives you no real insight how and in what way. I was expecting a museum which would teach us a bit about how Albania’s independence came about and give a little story about and what we encountered was just photos of some faces. If you already are an expert in albanias history it might suit you to visit, otherwise it’s just a waste of time and money.
Small place, not much to see but what was there is very important for albanian independence and for Albanian Nation. Blessed to be albanian from Kosovo! 🇦🇱
Interesting museum going through the history of the albania independence from the Ottoman Empire, something that I had no idea about. The place is small & you won’t need more than 30mins to visit the whole museum but it’s well worth the 200lek to get in. My suggestion would be to arrive around 6 as it’s a little cooler inside.
A nice tiny museum in a strategic location. If you wanna learn a bit about Albanian history it's the place to be. Entry costs around 3 euro per adult.

We tasted a lot here and everything was excellent. Some people complain about bad service, but during our visit everything was fine.
Very nice place, interesting design inside, from outside also its looks so stylish. There are not bad menu, good choice of desserts, waiters so good and enough fast works with good service, but after 20 minutes after eating that dessert and drinking that coffee I started to have a pain stomach, and it was until 4.00a.m. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place by my experience, but maybe you ll have another one...☹️
I ordered a cream pancake and the cream was nowhere to be found. I understand it is supposed to be a flavoured cream inside the pancake but you need to specify that in the menu. The service was slow and not helpful. Food arrived before drinks and it took them 15 mins to get us drinks
A beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere, delicious food and affordable prices. I spent my birthday there and when they found out about it, they brought us a whole plate of fruit and an incredibly delicious piece of cake 😍
Ini is a place to be in 😄👍 The waiters are good , the food is great, the atmosphere is nice everything was great! I recommend it 100%. And yall should try the crepe Lotus it is very delicious 🤤 The girl who makes them is also very sweet and helps you if you can’t choose. The coffee is amazing too ! See you next year again Ini!
Very modern and well atmosphere with very well cooked and tasted pizza and kind server with the store that is very cleaned and well organised and decorated
Good food, open space, big windows, and great service.
We ordered 2 makiatto. Tatste of coffee was hardly noticable - I guess barista decided to divide 1 portion of coffee between 2 cups. The total was 220 lek, waiter took 250 and never gave the change. The only good thing is that they have good interior.

Yesterday we celebrated my husband’s birthday here. We really liked the place. We ordered the table in advance. The waiter was really nice. He suggested to order a special big food, which was very tasty. The beer also was good. Thanks 😊
Terrible staff who don’t appreciate Irish humour (ironically), proceed to not put alcohol in cocktails after watching them make it. Also they play cricket noises in the bar outside for some reason, fits the settings. Avoid, go to a proper place.
This place is not in business. It has been closed for a while. I have reported it to Google Maps on multiple occasions, but they don’t seem to care. Actually about half the places listed on Vlore beach area are either closed permanently or for the season, so don’t expect all the places listed to be open, half of them are not. Too many to try to let Google Maps know. I have sent them several. See the pictures.
Decent place but mismanaged. The waiter is incredibly helpful and quick. The place lacked a lot of products, the menu is outdated and with wrong prices. Overall it’s okay
I need to start off by saying that this is undoubtedly the worst bar I have ever been into. It was so bad that I turned around and walked out within 5 minutes of arriving, having not had a drink. The atmosphere was not what you would expect of an Irish bar, there was no traditional music, the bar was empty at the time I arrived (and departed), with the exception of two people at a table, who didn't look particularly merry. The bartender was not knowligible, they didn't know about half of the drinks I asked about. The bartender was also not presenting a happy or helpful demeanor. The selection of alcohol was severely lacking, not even having Guinness. I think that the fact that this supposedly Irish bar doesn't have Guinness is all that needs to be said about their available alcohols. I would like to finish by stating that the only thing Irish about this bar is the four leaf clover logo. In summary, do NOT go to this bar if you are looking for a good place to go for a drink.
Beer was good but service super bad. They dont bring the food to nobody in the surroundings after 1 hour, I was calling the waitress and he saw me and tell another "ignore them" because I was with my hand raised waiting 30 min someone came. For the owner: the waitress was the only overweight guy with bad mustaches you hired.
Lucky me, I chose this place to drink some beer and have a dinner. After 8 hours I was already pucking in my toilet with body temperature 38.5. I would never recommend this place, even more - it ‘s better to avoid for your own sake Adding info after 4 hours after comment: My girlfriend sick too. We literally hate this place…
No Guinness here unfortunately... In fact, you'd have to take a good hard look to find anything Irish about this place at all, quite the mystery indeed. Decent beer on tap and friendly service, nothing special

Amazing family time. Small pool for the kids, and a much bigger one for everyone. Good music and drinks, great staff and restaurants nearby deliver food if you want to it.
The music was not as loud as I wanted :P and the beach isn't one of my favourites. It's a nice place if you go with your family, but it's not so cool being there with your friends.
Very bad experience ! This disco on the night is a place for Albanian people and not for any other . In this kind of disco you can not meet any girl because people do not want and the security personal will stop you . Only Albanian music and Albanian men.you have to take drink and stand up in front of a small table and you can not walk around ...... why ???? Very bad experience ........ we are so far from the concept of enjoy the nightlife ......... probably thy will need 10/20 year to get tourism as we have in Italy !!!! Experience to be deleted and the day after we leave Valona immediately .
Every summer I go there, it is relaxing. You can go with friends and family, there is very good music, the water is usually very clean (depends on the weather only)
Very nice restaurant literally on the sea. Nice romantic view. Delicious shrimps with sambuca. Reasonable prices. Good service.
Place looks like only for VIP. They wasnt very happy when group od 10+ students came to party. They gave us high price for entry. Then we decided to change location..
If you are a tourist you need following to enter: *** Ladies *** More money than albanian people (which I'm sure going to Security pockets) *** Handle the rudiness of security Would put 0 stars, but there is no option for this.
Amazing staff! Awesome pool great service you have both the beautiful beach and great pool! All day service! Loved it here

I recently took a tour with Aquamarine to the Karaburun Peninsula and Sazan Island and was absolutely thrilled. Everything went smoothly from start to finish – from booking to the tour itself. The team was super friendly and well-informed about the region. The boat tour was fantastic: stunning landscapes, clear water, and amazing views. I especially appreciated how well the history and nature of the area were explained. If you’re looking for an exceptional and well-organized tour in Albania, I highly recommend Aquamarine.
The Best Boat Trip in Vlora 🌊🌞🌴 Our day trip with Aquamarine Boat to Sazan Island and the stunning cave was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment I met the lovely girl Essi in the morning who made me a strong Albanian espresso (bless her!), I just knew the day was going to be awesome. She has such a great attitude and just what one needs for a good start of the day! Every single person on the crew was fantastic — warm, helpful, and full of good energy. The speed boat ride to the cave was nothing short of incredible. We were expecting a wild rollercoaster, but it turned out to be a safe, smooth, and super professional adventure. Hats off to the captain — what a legend! The beaches we visited were breathtakingly clean, with deep blue water you just want to dive into again and again. And let’s talk about the food — it was fresh, tasty, clean, and served with real care. You can tell they put love into what they do. The music on the boat was lively but not overwhelming — just the right vibe for most, though I personally could’ve gone a touch quieter. But even that didn’t take away from the experience. Sofi (my daughter) made new friends, we soaked up the sun, swam in paradise, and felt truly looked after by the staff the entire time. They really do take care of everything and everyone. We’ll definitely do this again. Can’t recommend it enough!
It was a wonderful all day boat adventure. The beds are an additional up charge so just know that going in. The bartender on board was super fun with our group. We absolutely loved our time on board.
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO RUIN YOUR VACATION, DON'T GO The organization is disgusting! As soon as we came to the boat there were no seats, we had to sit in the restaurant. We were told so beautifully about the fruits and we were really looking forward to them, but when we went to get them, the unpleasant bartender waved her huge nails and said no, she didn’t even apologize for what happened. While some people took several portions. Why can’t they give out fruits with coupons, you have information on how many people there are. When we arrived at the beach, there were a lot of people. As a result, we return to the ship and in our place they set the tables and told us to leave these places. When I tried to approach the girl (in pink) and find out why she did this, her eyes widened and she didn’t understand what I was telling her at all, it felt like she didn’t understand who she was and what she was supposed to do. In the end, of course, we had to change seats, while everyone had eaten, they had just brought us food, and we waited a very long time. The service is terrible. The attitude towards the customer too. We were left with sad impressions. My family and I regret that we went and spent money on this.
Absolutely Unforgettable Boat Trip Experience! From start to finish, this boat trip was pure magic. The crew was incredibly friendly, professional, and made everyone feel welcome and safe. The boat itself was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped — perfect for relaxing and taking in the stunning scenery. We cruised along crystal-clear waters, passed hidden coves, and even stopped for a swim in a secluded bay that looked like something out of a postcard. The views were breathtaking — from rugged cliffs to golden beaches and open blue horizons. There were plenty of opportunities to take photos, sunbathe on deck, or just enjoy the peaceful sound of the sea. One of the highlights was the local snacks and drinks served onboard — simple, fresh, and delicious. The captain also shared interesting facts about the area’s history and marine life, which added an educational touch to the adventure. This wasn’t just a boat trip — it was a memory in the making. Whether you're looking for a romantic escape, a fun family outing, or a peaceful solo experience, I couldn’t recommend this more. Truly one of the best experiences I’ve had on the water!
Terrible decision to spend the day in Vlora. Not worth the money, super expensive and you dont get what you pay for. Also very crowded, noisy and the service is unresponsive. Find a better way to spend your holiday.
I had a really good time with Aqua Marin tour guide. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the trip enjoyable. The places we visited were beautiful, and everything was well organized. Only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that I think a few things could be improved for even more comfort, like timing or small details and not alot place to sit . Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend it to others!
I will always repeat and recommend! Great travel, nice atmosphere.

Really fun guided tour with national tour guide. Lots of interesting fun facts shared, you get to snorkel 3x😎, and have an hour at an abandoned WW1-2 island site. Snorkeling gear included ✅
We hadn’t planned this trip when we came to Albania — we booked it by chance, and now I can’t imagine our holiday without it. From the very first moments on the boat, with the wind and salty spray on my face, I knew it would be unforgettable. We swam among colorful fish on a small island, climbed rocky cliffs and dove into deep, transparent water, and enjoyed time to walk, eat, and sunbathe on another island. But the absolute highlight was the cave — a place of breathtaking, almost unreal beauty that left us speechless. Everything about this trip was perfect, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Albania — it will be the memory you treasure most.
The best boat trip in Albania! We had a great time exploring all the hidden gems of Karaburun and Sazan, which you can't see any other way. The booking process was smooth, Eugene was very friendly and welcoming. He speaks great English, so we understood each other perfectly. He offered info and tips about the places we visited. We also had snorkeling gear, life vests and cold drinks for all the trip. I recommend them!
Fantastic experience ! Eugene was our guide and we did the snorkeling and Shazan island trip. We'd really recommend this if you're in Vlore
We went on the Snorkeling 360 Experience in Sazan Island & Karaburun yesterday and it was amazing! One of the best experiences while being in Albania! 😍 Our guide Eugene was super nice and helpful, he took us to super nice beaches and snorkelling spots where it was only us! There were soft drinks, water and beer included in the price, as well as snorkelling equipment provided. Would recommend this to anyone visiting Vlore!
Fantastic boat trip with four different stops along the way. The highlight was entering the cave – a truly amazing experience. The trip also included snorkeling, swimming, and sightseeing. Highly recommended
I would like to recommend to everyone this boat trip it was really enjoyable and everything was well explained during the booking process. All trip was very professional, we’re enjoying the views and amazing beach with crystal water, swimming in the caves and other picturesque beaches and nature that was surrounding the areas we saw. Anther advantage of booking this trip was that cold drinks & food was included. The tour guide speaks four languages and it was so easy to communicate with him in the same time he was providing good atmosphere.
Good boat tour service. Although the weather was not in our favor and the boat choice was not the best, it was a fairly pleasant tour. Drinks were included in the price. The captain was friendly, with experience and also knowledgeable about the area. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with hidden coves that we wouldn't have been able to see otherwise. It was a good experience.

The sever didn’t speak English and the experience was lovely nonetheless. It’s on the second floor so it’s a nice view. Enjoyed a latte and a freddo macchiato.
Coffee is okay, the glass was broken and there was caramel I didn’t ask for
