We had the absolute best time with Harriet. This is a MUST Do if you are in Hydra. The horses were so sweet I wanted to bring them home with us. Harriet was amazing with our 10 year old who had never ridden before and so patient and kind with all of us. I couldn’t recommend this experience more, we will always remit.
We had such an amazing time with Harriet and her beautiful horses! None of us have any real experience riding and we had three kids on the trip. Harriet had everything so well organized - super safe, super thoughtful and above all super fun! We all had a wonderful time and it’s clear that her horses are really well-cared for and well-loved. As one of our kids said ‘Harriet really made us feel at home’ and this perfectly captures the experience. It was definitely THE highlight of our whole trip for our kids!
What an amazing morning with Harriet and her beautiful horses, Chloe and Afrodite. We went for trek 5 which had amazing views and took a really cool route up. We were one experienced rider and a beginner and really enjoyed ourselves. Harriet is great at assessing your level and fantastic with beginners (and everyone else!). I highly recommend.
What a find! We last minute decided to take a ride with Harriet and I’m so glad we did. The view was great, but the horses were the fun part! Harriet was lovely and really cared about giving us a good experience. Book it, you won’t regret it :)
We had the best morning with Harriet, Sera, Dennis, Aires, Chloe, and Aphrodite! We booked the seatrek ride with Harriet, she was very communicative and clear about instructions and what to bring. She welcomed us in the morning and got us set up with basics and safety equipment. After reviewing the rules we mounted up and head in to town. Seeing the streets from horseback and navigating through the country side was so unbelievably beautiful. All four of us were in awe the entire time. It was very windy out which kicked up the current which posed some challenges for a "regular" swim for the horses. But Harriet prioritizes everyones safety over everything which we appreciated, so after a quick dip in the water and some time for the horses we made our way back to town. Harriet took the time to get a cup of coffee with us and give us some recommendations for our time in Hydra. (If she gives you recommendations, listen to them!!!) . We shared many laughs and shared fears of spiders, and started plotting our next adventure to come see Harriet together. We truly felt like saying goodbye to this woman who was a stranger 4 hours beforehand, was like saying goodbye to a friend by the end of our time together. We can not say enough good things about Harriet and the tours she offers. We cannot wait to come back and try a new trek!
If you ever visit Hydra, I highly recommend an excursion with Harriet and her horses! I went with Harriet and some other people on the trek to the beach, where we then went into the water with the horses. The horses are clearly loved and well cared for, and Harriet is patient, helpful, and very welcoming. The ride through the town is a little challenging, but once you are out on the dirt road and looking at the water as you ride the horse, it is breathtaking! Getting to ride around in the water with my horse was special as well. Harriet had all sorts of treks you can do, including some that are much shorter. Whatever you choose you will have a great time!
Absolutely loved my ride with Harriett! She had great instruction to put beginners at ease, yet the ride up to the monastery was challenging for more advanced riders as it was mostly uphill. You can tell Harriett loves what she does and treats the horses with care. This was the most unique trail ride I’ve done to date, it was a great way to see the island. I hope to return one day for another ride!
We spent our anniversary on Hydra and was excited to find horse riding as an option! Harriet's Hydra Horses have been around for over 20 years and Harriet is a knowledgeable and experienced horse trainer and rider. The horses are is great shape, we were provided instructions and it was a joyful and peaceful ride to a monastery. Harriet answered our questions about the island and its culture, making our ride worth every penny!

Very nice beach accesible by boat only. Reservation for sunbeds isrecomended. I posted a picture with the reservation number, as we looked for it and could not find it anywhere.
Very cool beach! 20 euro round trip boat ride from Hydra port to get to Nikolaos beach. The beach was rocky and had great seating/umbrellas, a cute shack for food/drinks, and small bathroom. No large permanent building. Very quiet cove for swimming. We bought snorkels in town and enjoyed seeing all the fish in the cove.
Beautiful and quiet spot with warm water with colorful fish and octopuses. If you would like to take a break from lovely swimming spots in the town take a boat ride to this beach. It is 20 min. by taxi boat.
My favorite beach in Hydra. You can come here by boat. Boat tickets 20€ /2025 sunbed I think 35€ 2 beds. I kerp this price expensive when you travel alone because you must pay from 2 beds even you need one bed. 30-40 min by boat from Hydra port.
In a word, one of the most beautiful seas I’ve ever swum in. We visited in mid-September and it was very peaceful—calm, with crystal-clear turquoise water and an amazing variety of fish🐠🐟 There’s a small snack bar with food and drinks available. Definitely recommended for a really enjoyable day! 🩵🩵
Amazing beach with clear, blue water! €20 roundtrip by boat. €30 for a set of two sunbeds and an umbrella — though I personally find that a bit overpriced.
Pebble beach, no shower, disgusting outdoor toilet and awful food. 20€ per person for the boat taxi, 20€ each sunbed, 17€ for a sad looking club sandwich with potato chips from a bag. Worst thing I ever ate in Greece. 3 stars for the beautiful scenery and ocean. We will never return.
Great place Captive once you get here Return boats 4:30 and 5:30 at least from 1 September

You should definitely visit this exhibition if you come to Hydra!!!
It's OK, but this is a very old-fashioned museum. Full of weapons, uniforms and paintings of rich people. Big display of letters and documents is inaccessible because there are no translations. Little on social history, ordinary lives. No photography permitted.
Only a 4 star because I wish it was more than a Military Museum. Lots of history with information about generals etc. interesting clothing from different periods. On the third floor there were clay pots from 18BC found on Hydra. We visited for about 2 hours.
Pretty overpriced for what it is. Some weapons and clothes that are pretty cool, but overall underwhelming.
Worth a visit if you need to get out of the sun and shave off some time before your boat back to Athens. Don’t you dare walk in that museum at 3:40PM when they close at 4 PM, the woman security guard will give you a death stare if you try and buy a ticket or even take a look at the gift shop. She’s not very nice and probably forgot that tourists are the reason why she has a job. Lol.
Your first stop at the port of Hydra. Nice museum with significant pieces of art and of Greek history from the early period of the modern Greek state.
Nice museum documenting the history of Hydra, and its importance to Greek independence. Couples with additional art galleries. Added bonus of air conditioning, making it a nice break from the hottest part of the day.
This not just a museum, this is a place where the history is so much alive. Great experience! When you visit the island should be your priority. Million thanks to mr Panagiotis who offer us a great dip into the history with his amazing guide!

We decided to stop here to have a quick lunch and we ordered the ham and also a turkey sandwich. The sandwiches were the perfect bite, crispy bread, not too heavy just right, probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve had while I’ve been in Greece. If you’re in Hydra I would highly recommend stopping here for a quick bite, plus on top that we were able to have a cat sit by side all through out our whole meal
Had freddo cappuccino and cold chocolate. We liked both. Nice location with views of the port. Friendly staff.
Really good professional and friendly service. Food and drinks were good at very reasonable prices. Great spot to sit and watch Hydra.
Came here to break our fast... with a cocktail. Ended up ordering two! The Pirate Zombie with its "overaged" Jamacian rum will have you singing a sea shanty in no time. As we sit watching the people parade by along the port, and the traditional Greek fishing boat bobbing in the water, we feel we are now on holiday. The staff were top notch: superbly friendly waiters (especially in contrast to the neighbouring taverna - which we left before ordering after their unfriendly welcome and never coming to take our order). See other reviewers here for reviews of the food here... we only had the crisps served with our zombies. Aye maties! (Recommended)
Nice place, I was there on 11/08/25 around 12:00 to 13:30. + Good service, + right next to the harbor, but away from the spot where the ferries come and go (so you get the perks without the harbor smell), + good sun cover in almost all seats.
Nice place to have a drink or a quick lunch !
The fantastic place on the very seaside edge of the brilliant Hydra island! Nice design and the very attentive service - that's all you need being there. Cold and hot coffee, cocktails of many kinds, good food, romantic atmosphere and the amazing view - and you will never forget your impressions, especially if you attended a pre-wedding party there. Highly recommended.
Anybody searching for food and quality coffee the pirate bar is the best destination. The bar is well known for its amazing cocktails and it is highly recommended. The staff I encountered at the pirate bar was polite and their service was fast.

Old mansion from which all the rooms of different use can be visited on the first floor. the ground floor hosts a painting exhibition and periodical exhibitions. Price of the ticket includes the visit to the atelier of a local painter. Also, the staff is very kind!
Good art anda glimpse of living in the past. View is amazing but the walk up is not for the faint hearted
Personally I don't think it deserves the 10 euro for a ticket. It's not accessible to people with disabilities. The person I went with has less eyesight and they had a hard time bc of the stairs and the lights. It was like six rooms to see and then you go down the stairs, you find toilets(again stairs) and the posters promoting Greece.(You see from the photos I submitted) The experience was difficult as it was not accessible. Wouldn't recommend it if you have any disabilities! The staff was really friendly ☺️
This was my favorite museum I went to while visiting Hydra. It is a great opportunity to see more of the island away from the port as you walk up small winding roads to get here. The museum is a great mix of Hydra history/artifacts and other exhibits, like one on Greek tourism that was on when I visited. Admission also includes admission to the Tetsis Home & Studio nearby which was small but really beautiful to see.
Lovely museum, previous house of Koundouriotis family. Lots items to look at and admire plus temporary exhibitions. Great views to Hydra port. Keep your ticket as you can use it for a free entrance at Tetsis house-museum.
Big yellow house at top of town. Rooms with original furniture and paintings. Basement had good exhibition on Greek tourism history. €5 admission.Small cafe, not open. It's a BIG climb up many stairs to reach house.
Calm, chill tour. Air conditioned. Extremely minimalist design and decor compared to other preserved homes of that era, which I guess is interesting in of itself. Very clean bathrooms.
Worth a visit for an insight into how this wealthy family lived; wonderful views too.

In the center of the harbor is the Cathedral of Hydra, built in 1648 and reconstructed in 1774. A three-aisled basilica with a dome and two marble bell towers, which inside has two silver chandeliers and a golden light that has on it the heads of the Louisians of France. In the past, the Church functioned as the Monastery of the Assumption. Today in the courtyard of the Church there are the busts of Lazaros Kountouriotis and Andreas Miaoulis as well as the tomb of Lazaros Kountouriotis. In some of the buildings of the monastery is housed the Town Hall, while in the old cells the Ecclesiastical and Byzantine Museum of Hydra.
Very nice to visit. Lovely church with bell tower. Beautiful interior with icons, paintings etc. Unusual first floor cloister ( some of which is used by small businesses). A necessary visit in Hydra.
Beautiful building, and right by the port so there really is no reason not to drop by if you're on the island.
I love this church. Especially in the early morning, without crowds of daily turists from Athens.
Absolutely stunning church interior. Small but quite ornate. Exterior of the church is a pretty walkable area with a few placards to read. Worth a visit because of how easy it is to get to, but will be brief (unless you go to the ecclesiastical museum where you can spend a bit more time)
Exquisite details inside the cathedral. A must visit at Hydra Island
Such a holy place! All in one place: Christianity, history, architecture, culture.. definitely a must-visit place!!
Beautiful church except the lady inside keeps shouting no pictures! So unfriendly to the tourists.

Hydra is one phenomenal island in multiple ways. It is super clean, scenic, very close to Piraeus (the port) about 90 minutes. Hydra has really good food, amazingly clean water with many fish considering its on the Mediterranean, and it’s super clean. It also has hiking trails if you’re interested.
Today was day 3 of multiple day trips from Athens to nearby Greek islands—Aegina and Agistri being the others. Hydra has the most amazing port area. The water is not as beautiful as the other two but the town makes up for it. It was also a very friendly island. Once you leave the main harbor area and pass the locals they will say hello to you 💙 I am so very glad I found out about and journeyed to Hydra. Be sure to use something like ferryhopper to see the different timings of ferries. I used Magic Sea. It was a great company, but they also have the least daily options. Also check out Hellenic and alpha to mix and match. In the photos you’ll find my favorite shop on the island for art. It is on the harbor directly across from the ferries. Then keep following the road for 20 minutes plus for the most beautiful scenes on the island after the harbor
Went here 50 years back, it has hardly changed. Just far too many tourists now but still wonderful. Even if you just do an overnight stay, the memory will last a lifetime.
An exceptional option about two hours from Athens! Truly a unique gem that needs to be cherished. The lack of vehicles only adds to the whole experience. Great people, great food and of course cats everywhere, if you are a lover to expect to stop every 5 minutes 🥳🤣. The place doesn't have what we would call beaches, but there are a few rocks from where you can dive in the sea. People use this place to set up their towels and sit. it might not be the most comfortable thing ever but it works and the water is crystal clear with a very nice blue color. there are exceptions however with a couple of beaches who have beds and options to eat and drink, but these are not easily reachable by food. you have to take what is supposed to be a sea taxi small boats who take you to the places from the port. Surprisingly, nightlife is not bad either with nice options to grab drinks and have fun with friends. All in all whether you are looking for a place to visit with friends or your partner for a couple of days, this is a wonderful option. Dare i say one you might fall in love with.
A beautiful island with stunning views — but incredibly expensive and, honestly, there’s not much to do. Most of the visitors are wealthy European retirees who enjoy a slow, laid-back vacation. Fish at local restaurants costs €40–60 — the same fish you can buy for €7 on the mainland in a supermarket. There are some lovely wild beaches and hiking options, but many of the trails are just rocks and thorny bushes. All in all, it’s fine for a day trip — but not much more.
People stay up half the night partying. They talk very loud! It's not young people. It's grown couples with kids running around. They are down in the main part of town, not in bars or in their rooms. The island itself is beautiful, but I don't want to stay awake until 2am because of rude drunks.
Beautiful island Welcoming friendly people Beautiful cats but most of the cats looks sick. Skinny and matted 💔💔💔💔💔
Absolutely amazing island, stunning and beautiful, nice people and good food! We didn’t expect it to be as beautiful as it was 😍😍😍 Just 2 hours to Athens and if you have the opportunity, sleep there ❤️

Whenever in the last 10 years i came to Hydra alone or the three times with my son Linos we meet Argyris with his horses and his wife Christina. Both are members of the animal welfare society in Hydra „Hydra Ark“. In the last years Hydra ark organized the special care with vet for equines twice a year. All persons on Hydra who work with horses join and take care for their animals!!! I also adopted two stray cats from Hydra and we live together in a rural farm house in Germany. Argyris is not only a very friendly and helpful man but also takes so much care for all his animals. Especially the horses, because he works with them every day and so wether he is transporting things with the horses or takes tourists to one of the beautiful rides on the island. I am hopeful and looking forward to meet him again as every year two times to greet him and talk to them. So often he refused to join me for a coffee because he works and doesnt want to park the horses in the sun or at the port. The comments of the two ladies here hit a topic that is a topic for the municipality of Hydra but none of Argyris. Especially in summer the horses of some people are at the port. In the last year finally the municipality established some sunshades but these are often closed because of strong wind. So it would be great if the critics would be more objective and adressed to the persons where they belong. Its good to write critics but they have to be true and do not accuse false. Argyris and Christina, i am looking forward to see you and all the friends soon. Stay all safe and healthy - included the animals!
I was in Ydra not so long ago, and I can confirm with the previous comment that the animals was there all the afternoon, attached and under the sun... without any water !! We stayed all the day in Ydra and every time we were going back to the center they didn’t change animal’s places. They were on the place near all the coffees and restaurants. Poor animals. Please don’t let them suffer like that !!! Shame on you !!
Scandalous!! Inacceptable !!! Animals under the sun, no water... You can saw than the animals are sad.. We see the horse trying to eat a lamppost so hungry he is
Beautiful small island, with charming character. No vehicles all transport by donkey and horses.
A fantastic experience and there is no better way to see Hydra Island!

Welcoming wellness center with a variety of services 🧖‍♀️ I went for a face massage and really enjoyed the facility and the well trained therapist. The staff was helpful and friendly and the prices are reasonable.
My husband and I both treated ourselves to massage at Armonia. He had a 60min remedial massage and I had a 60min lymphatic massage. We both absolutely loved our treatments! The staff were friendly, professional and highly skilled. My lymphatic massage was incredible, my therapist was highly experienced and knew exactly what a lymphatic massage should be (I’ve had many lymphatic massages in my time)! The actual treatment room was so beautiful, the oils used smelt amazing. We truely loved our experience at Armonia and highly recommend!
I had I have to say a horrifying experience at this salon. I was having a Brazilian bikini wax, which I have had countless times over the years and nothing like this has ever occurred. I am extremely swollen down there now, with big red painful welts, the skin is also broken with some needing and lots of wax left there which has hardened :///. The woman - who was I have to say very sweet in manner - used a strip wax which is never a great idea for a Hollywood or Brazilian wax because it’s much more painful. Also I think the strip wax they used must have been of very low quality to have had this effect. She also seemed highly inexperienced, having yo go over and over the same areas, taking twice the booking time to finish, well over an hour (I missed my nail appointment afterwards as a result). I called the salon to let them know, speaking politely and telling the receptionist was giving feedback for the sake of others coming in for bikini waxes. The receptionist was dismissive, with obviously no interest in what I was saying, said she’d tell management and promptly hung up.
I called and booked a 90 minutes massage and while walking there 2 minutes before I arrived they called me to say sorry cancel because we had a problem with our system, very disappointed, not recommended. After I made the very fair review they called me to complain very rudly about my review and cancel my next appointment mentioning that I'm not allowed to go to their place again, something they didn't mention on their reply. So be careful once you give them a bad review instead of improving their services or correcting their mistakes they will ban you. The woman that called me was so rude and I felt so much offended that I hang up the phone to her
Excellent. My husband and I travelled from Canada yesterday and had 1 hour massages today. They were unlike anything we have ever experienced - absolutely fabulous. The spa is pretty and clean, not to fussy. All staff were welcoming and kind. Highly recommend.
An amazing place to relax. The atmosphere is very calming with amazing smells and sounds as well as top notch facilities. It is truly an exclusive spa like no other that I’ve been. To top it all, they have a host of various services with friendly and knowledgeable personnel. Absolutely recommend it and I will be returning very soon!
You have to come here. Pilates, yoga, massage, nails, stand up paddle. You may think “how can one place do all of these things and be good at them?” Well, they do and they are fantastic! My wife and I got massages and did pilates. The nail salon looks solid and the SUP trip looks really fun! If I find myself coming back to Hydra, I’ll be going here for sure for a relaxing experience. The instructors and masseuses are really awesome too!
I went there twice : for a yoga class which was great and the yoga teacher is truly a nice and gentle person. I went back for a massage and I really don't recommend having massage there. The quality of the massage is really poor. It was advertise as a holistic / bio massage combining different techniques but really it was just an oil massage. The therapist isn't very experienced and some moves were really painful. Really it is not worth the price (for massage). however there are not much choice in Hydra so... : ) and the ladies who work there are nice !

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Kirki. The room was renovated, clean, fresh, and bright with comfortable beds and a modern bathroom. The staff was very polite and accommodating. The hotel is just off the main road, a short walking distance from the port. It's an ideal location for shopping, eating, and sightseeing but also at a safe distance from the hustle and bustle. I would highly recommend Hotel Kirki to visitors and would love to stay there when I visit Hydra again.
Such a lovely place! Also the staff were always so nice and welcoming. Would love to come again.
An amazing location! I love my room so much. Comfy bed, great bathroom and a balcony! I would only suggest a full length mirror.
Very cosy little hotel right by the harbour. Our room was very nice and spacious, with its own little balcony. We were very happy with our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to come here again! The only possible downside is that it's right next to one of the main streets of Hydra, so at around 8 in the morning a lot of mules will begin passing by, transporting food and water to the various shops and restaurants in the town. They do make a bit of noise, but it didn't bother us much. And also it adds to the atmosphere! After only a couple of hours, most of the transports end, and the street is pretty calm and quiet the rest of the day.
Great location just off the harbour rooms compact but very well equipped and nicely decorated and clean would stay again
Location perfect, just a 4 min. walk from the ferry ,few steps from cafes and tavernas. Nice staff, beautiful and very clean room and bathroom, enough space for a couple. Cute little balcony with a good view of the town.Warm atmosphere, good bed, great wi-fi , overall a nice stay.We would stay there again. Comparing to other hotels on the island, it is a good value for money. Δεν άρεσε · Some of the rooms, like ours, overlooking the pedestrian street, can be noisy at times, starting from 08.00a.m. .Facilities include just a little fridge and a hairdryer.Coffee -tea making facilities and an iron should be provided in each room to justify the price.
Great location Very clean Small rooms Great for a weekend stay, but for longer periods... the choice is yours.
Honestly a lovely experience all around. The owner was very friendly and helpful in every way possible. Room cleaning happened daily (unless requested otherwise) and the rooms are lightly but thoughtfully decorated and have everything you need in them. The TV was definitely a plus, since it was bigger than expected. The balcony was big and the air conditioning worked great.
