A fascinating museum in a fascinating old house. We were given a tour by a very helpful member of staff. She explained so much to us. It is one of the strangest places I have ever visited, and one of the most intriguing. It is like "living history". Real tradition. Visit here after seeing the Basilica. I recommend it to everyone!
A small but very interesting museum, with great video to start off with before exploring the old traditional wine stores and exhibits of the ‘costumes’ the horses wear for the running of the wine events
A fascinating museum about the wine horses of Murcia. There is a display of the beautiful hand-made costumes for the horses over many years. It is interesting to see the traditions continue.
Fantastic museum in Caravca de la Cruz well worth the visit as was the town...simply a beautiful historic Spanish town
A fascinating small museum. A short video show will explain everything about the tradition of running the horses here. Then you can view the stunning decorations that are lovingly made for them, the fine detail is incredible. I would recommend a visit here to learn the history and traditions of this famous event before visiting the actual area where the run takes place once a year.
A hidden gem in the countryside of Murcia. What a beautiful place to visit and to discover. Its people so friendly and engaging, a place with interesting history too.
A great insight into the history of Caravacia! The embroidery on the horses coats and other accessories is amazing!
I didn't visit as pets are not allowed in, there is no obvious sign outside and inside you have to search for the notice on a back wall, it is not obvious. I would have liked to visit, maybe they should consider a rule that you can visit with small pets that are contained in a pet carry bag or pram as do other cities and towns , for example you can visit everything in Merida as long as your pet is carried in an appropriate bag.

Fascinating and beautiful with a piece of history that brings the whole town together in celebration. You must visit here, and you must pay the 3 euros to see the upstairs museum where a video explains everything, and then go to the "Museum of the Wine Horses" to understand even more. An amazing town.
Well worth a visit as the place is stunning. I would also recommend the museum as they have some beautiful artifacts. To see the True Cross you have to be there at 30 mins past the hour when the Basilica is open.
Beautiful and you see over the town from there, not so difficult to walk up there
A beautiful piece of architecture that is free to enter. 16th & 17th century paintings adorn the walls, statues and tapestries decorate many spaces. It is an incredible space. The architecture spans different centuries but is beautifully woven together so as nothing appears to be out of place. An absolute must if you're in the region.
Only 3 stars as we had travelled 3 hours from Valencia to visit this famous site and the door was literally closed shut and locked in front of me. Apparently there was a mass being celebrated but when I managed to (rudely, I admit) gain entry through a side door there was "one" celebrant and "two" staff listening to a " recorded" mass, not a priest in sight!!! Practicing Christians at their best!! To clarify, we visited Sunday at 11, when their website says it's open. Now, remind me why the church is losing its respect.
Caravaca is dominated by the medieval Santuario de la Vera Cruz (Sanctuary of True Cross), and contains several convents and a fine parish church, with a miraculous cross celebrated for its healing power, in honor of which a yearly festival is held on 3th May.
Always like to visit Caravaca when in Spain. Very peaceful on this visit
I must say this was a real surprising experience. The history of the double cross is a mystery yet to be unveiled. Great prices and picked up a 5 ft pilgrim’s staff in the local village

(Translated by Google) Located in the old town of Caravaca, very close to the Plaza del Arco and the Tourist Office. It is located inside the desecrated church of La Soledad, at the beginning of Subida al Castillo street. At first the collection may seem small, but it is an important sample of pieces found in the surroundings and the municipality of Caravaca. The pieces, among which we can find remains of ceramics, weapons, agricultural utensils, jewelry, coins, sculptures, among others, represent samples of a broad stage in the history of humanity, ranging from the Paleolithic and Neolithic to the Middle Ages. There are also samples of the Chalcolithic, the Iberian culture, the Roman period and the Arab period as well. Perhaps the most important samples, in terms of quantity and quality, belong to the Roman era, with several important sites in the municipal area. Perhaps the most important of these sites is the archaeological complex of La Encarnación, a few kilometers from Caravaca, very close to the district of Los Prados. In the complex, a sanctuary from the late Republican period stands out, from the first century BC, built on a previous Iberian temple. From this temple are the largest and most important remains in the museum, bases of columns, capitals and remains of the cornice, some of which are collected in my photographs. The museum is very well organized and the pieces are arranged chronologically to learn about the historical evolution of the city. Very attentive and friendly, the person in charge of visits to the museum.

Very nice park to walk or chill on hot days. You may come with dogs on leash, following the normal rules of behavior
We had a great dinner here. All the food was cooked, and tasted lovely. The service was very formal. No welcoming words, smiles or pleasant interactions with us, other than taking the orders. Very nice situation and views and we extremely appreciated the air conditioning as it was a very hot day.
Very peaceful and beautiful park. Easy to walk round as flat and accessible. Will be going back in the summer to visit again
A very tranquil place full of woodland, springs, history, caves and plenty of free parking. Been many times and always enjoy it, nice to have the tree shade in the Summer
Lots of little waterfalls at the moment. The carpark has moved but you can still visit. A lovely place to visit as a kind of park with space to run around and kick a ball about and lots of picnic tables.
Beautiful. Lovely to have a picnic and walking distance from the town. Good free car parking.

Although the origin of the convent dates back to the 16th century at the hands of Saint Teresa of Jesus, it underwent various renovations throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, giving it its current appearance. It has a single nave with a Latin cross plan, with side chapels covered by barrel vaults with lunettes. The transept is covered by a dome on pendentives decorated with Carmelite Saints and rockery. The choir is located at the foot, and has two sections, upper and lower, closed by wrought iron lattices from the 16th century. On the outside, its single belfry located on the Epistle side stands out, as well as its 18th century doorway. It is believed that when it was built it had a double function: to inform of possible dangers and to serve as a reference point for the shepherds in the area.
