One of the places which you need to put on your do list. Great historical place, great facilities and amazing staff. You will be very impressed for sure especially with the tours, the tour guides have impressed knowledge and passion. I really recommend it.
12th century Abbey ruin, some of it is still intact. Very grand and impressive. Tickets are very affordable. Kids get a small present after they find symbols. Worth a visit! ❤️
It was an enlightening experience. Always Abbey ruins make me sad. Jerpoint Abbey has some interesting features not found in other monasteries. There is a strong connection here with The Knights Templar. Michelle at reception was very helpful and kindly gave us a nice concise overview of its history.
Today, my wife and I went with our four children, and honestly, we were treated wonderfully. They gave our kids some tasks to do, like a treasure hunt, and the staff, especially the woman who was there, were fantastic. We really enjoyed the visit; it’s a beautiful place and definitely worth it.
Jerpoint Abbey is an absolute gem nestled in County Kilkenny’s lush countryside. The twelfth-century Cistercian ruins remain remarkably intact, inviting exploration beneath lofty arches, graceful cloisters, and serene chapter rooms. Delicately carved stone figures and vivid biblical panels adorn the cloister arcade, each telling its own story and rewarding lingering inspection. The enthusiastic guides weave local legend and history into captivating commentary, yet give visitors space to wander at their own pace. Interpretive displays are concise and informative, and the small visitor centre sells excellent guidebooks and Irish crafts. Free parking, spotless facilities, and peaceful grounds dotted with wildflowers complete the experience. Plan at least an hour to absorb its timeless magic. You will leave inspired and eager to return.
Lovely! We were able to do Jerpoint & Tintern Abbey in the am. Both are definitely worth visiting. Tintern has more inside than Jerpoint but the courtyard here, imagining the stone carvings in full color, just remarkable! The hands of time have taken their toll but it remains a heavenly place.
We LOVED this site!! Amazing and helpful staff, the site is in fantastic shape. We learned so much and left feeling inspired and amazed at what was accomplished here. 100% worth your time.
One of my favorite ruins to see when visitors come over. They have a special treasure hunt for children - matching the pictures with the real carvings or art at the location. Easy to find and free parking.

The owner allowed me photogaph the ruins as I was not with a tour or private group and it was just after some very heavy rian, a lot of the land was covered under water, but she allowed me access and it was fantastic. It has so much to offer, I would loved to have had more time to photograph it from all angles but the owner was expection a visitor. A stunning location and well worth a visit, cheers
This was such a hidden gem of a historical tour- the owner was our tour guides and had a wealth of knowledge and presented it in a way that was matter-of-factly and not too heady or boring- it felt like we were talking with our cool aunt! By the end of the tour we were laughing so hard we were crying and for some members of our family the experience was very mystical. The grounds themselves are beautiful and it was an intimate and enriching way to engage with history.
This place is reverently amazing. Hearing the history from the property owners was a gift. Their respectful tending to history is such a special vocation. But truly… the sheep herding demonstration won our hearts! What an incredible stop from beginning to end!
A lovely stay here very quaint and full of history. We enjoyed our comfy room and a very nice hearty breakfast next morning. Followed by a free tour full of great information thanks to Joe and his lovely dog.
Jerpoint Park easily became a group favourite on our Ireland trip! Maeve was quick to reply about bookings and we got in for a private tour of the medieval town as well as a sheepdog demonstration, all very affordable at €15/person. It was just our group when we got there but a tour bus showed up as we were leaving, so call ahead of time to really get that private experience. I was pleasantly surprised at how elaborate the tour was; covering the settlement history of the area, archaeological finds, architectural design of the ruins, and not to mention some notable names in the graveyard - including St. Nicholas (yes, Santa!) The owner, Joe, is kind, knowledgeable and entertaining. His tour was especially enjoyable as his passion for this unique history shows. If you’re looking to explore remnants of Ireland’s past in the beautiful countryside while hearing stories from a local, seriously don’t miss visiting Jerpoint Park. The sheepdog was also very cute haha ❤️
Enjoyed the informative tour by the proprietor of the land. They call this place "The Lost town", which Joe had plenty of facts about, enough that the town almost came to life before your eyes. If you get nearby, this is a cool place to learn about. Property borders the River Nore to which you may take a stroll on the banks of. Very enjoyable time.
Joe was a really good tourguide and was very engaging in recounting some of the history behind Jerpoint park. I didnt realize that Santa was based on a real person... who is actually buried in his backyard haha (there is a st nicolas’ gravestone in Jerpoint Park). The guided tour was 10 euros fyi - this is not clearly stated at the entrance, but it is worth the amount in my opinion.
We had every intention of going to the Abbey, but got sidetracked here and never made it. No regrets! We splurged and bought a private tour of "The Lost Town" with Joe, plus a sheep herding demonstration with his cool dog "Cap". Then we strolled by ourselves through fields and streams and sheep - Idyllic. My family voted this their favorite excursion during the entire 2 weeks (1,646 miles) in Ireland.

This place is a hidden gem! It's perfect for a day trip, with a stunning small waterfall and plenty of scenic walking trails to immerse yourself in nature. The spacious picnic area, complete with numerous benches, is ideal for relaxation. You can easily explore the entire area within 90 minutes, but you'll have plenty of time to unwind, as it stays open until 6 pm. Note that it's only open during July and August, so plan accordingly! The entry fee is reasonable, at 7€ for adults and 20€ for families. We absolutely loved it and highly recommend it!
A seasonal location with loads to see and explore. It houses a stunning cottage a beautiful mossy valley with lovely stone bridges. Good parking but little or no water flowed from the waterfall, cheers
Kilkenney is Enchanting. I’m officially enchanted. So many beautiful shades of green. The grass is so soft, the light is magical, and I feel God’s presence everywhere. He definitely showed off in Ireland…and epically so at Kilfane Glen & Waterfall! We spent a magical, enchanting, delightful two hours exploring this bit of paradise and easily could’ve stayed longer! Love love love. Happy sigh
Beautiful gardens, incredibly well maintained considering the low price of admission. Please remember that it is a private house when visiting, treat it as if you were invited to someone's home. The Glen and waterfall are too amazing for words, just go and visit, you won't be disappointed.
Kilfane Glen and Waterfall in County Kilkenny is a hidden gem that feels like stepping back into a romantic, fairytale landscape. The 18th-century gardens are lush, peaceful, and beautifully preserved, with winding woodland paths leading to the stunning 30-foot waterfall that cascades into a clear pool below. It’s an ideal spot for a quiet stroll, a picnic, or simply soaking in the natural beauty. The place has a timeless charm—rustic bridges, mossy stones, and wild greenery make it feel untouched and magical. Perfect for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, or anyone looking for a tranquil escape.
The place was incredible and I she who was working in the office was very friendly.
These gardens are hidden, where the highlight is the area around the waterfall in a little steep valley; we did not really know what to expect but it is a beautiful place. Kind of like an Irish version of a rainforest. Worth a visit.
We and the boys loved the little trail around Kilfane Glen and the waterfall at the end is just perfect 💚

Delightful grounds and chilled atmosphere. A hidden away treasure for relaxing meals and snacks, or to buy plants or artwork. Kids love exploring the brook that runs through the gardens.
Had a small menu selection which is a good thing. Soups, salad and sandwiches which are all made from scratch on site. Very tasty food. Also in the cafe crafts and Arts which are for sale most of which are made locally. You can walk around the garden after you finished your tea coffee and food.
A delightful place with lovely features.
This garden is a hidden treasure,it is very compact and it is very easy for anyone to walk around, there is a little stream running through it and the café serve very good food and beverages, all of the staff are very nice and friendly, you can also purchase a wide variety of plants and shrubs.
Lovely Fairy space

Lovely gardens for a short stroll with little ones. Small selection at the café and delightful staff. Great selection of plants at the garden centre.
Lovely scone jam and cream with a perfect cup of coffee served by very friendly staff. It's an amazing job they do.

It was owned by my G Grandfather Thomas Dalton when it was The imperial/ Hibernian. He passed away in 1910, so it was quite some time ago
It's been a while since the last time and nothing has changed. The gigs, I believe, are still legendary and the decor is still brown and dingy.
Fantastic character, great people and lots of live music!
You basically haven't been in Thomastown unless you been in Murphy's.

I was walking, exploring and noticed this gem, sparkling by the river Nore. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly crew. The landlord was a sweetie, served the bestest gin & slim. The locals shared their Irish hospitality. I am only sad to leave and miss the live music on Saturday 14th September. Now I have made new friends I will return when Irish eyes are singing! Thank you Trish for your welcome 🤗
Got to experience the Friday night session with the musicians. Had a great time. Exceptional musicians and singers. One of the best nights we had in Ireland. Would highly recommend it.
Great pub. The music session on Friday night was brilliant, on every Friday night we were told. Very friendly place, worth a visit
Traditional Irish bar experience with excellent service
A friendly spot and a good place for music. Mick Hanley, Anto Drennan, Eoin O'Neill were playing on the night I was there. A great gig.
Live traditional irish music, friendly atmosphere, kind staff, delicious sandwiches...thank you, great evening!
Friday night music session is the place to be for good music and craic
Great service and a great atmosphere and more importantly a great pint of Guinness.
