My new home. It’s been a year since I moved here. Have now for the first time really started appreciating the beauty, magic in the air and home.
Lovely little harbour surrounded by fish n chips and icecream huts etc..West bay beach is stunning. Great for families but as a solo hiker, I prefer somewhere a little less busy.
This is a great place to sit, chill and unwind. Views are spectacular and stunning 😍 Plenty of amenities close by, with pubs, restaurants, tea, coffee, just great!!! Great food available right near to where you could sit a d chill! Very romantic setting as the sun goes down! It's a "must visit place!"
Lovely walks and my places to stop for drinks and food
Nice little harbour with plenty of benches to sit down and have your picnic or food from one of the food huts we had small cod and chips and a tea really nice.
Nice harbour at West Bay with south west coastal walks on both sides. Good place to stop for food, coffee, ice cream, toilets, etc.
Stopped here on a coach day trip on the way to Swanage. It's a lovely town with a lovely market and lots of nooks and crannies down by the Custom House. Well worth a visit.
Bridport is a thriving community with always lots going on

Thanks to the team at Lyme Bay RIB charter for an incredible trip along to Lyme Regis. With all three boats out filming for their socials yesterday, it was a fun and thrilling trip. Living close to West Bay, this was something I have wanted to do for a long time but never quite got round to! I would recommend it for both locals and tourists as an amazing way to see our beautiful Jurassic coastline.
In all the years we've been to West Bay we'd never done the Lyme Bay RIB, so we finally did this year and wasn't disappointed! One adult and two children cost £65 for the coastal cruise down to Seatown and back up to West Bay. Staff were thoughtful and conscientious of children, picking the best boat for them depending on clients, and seating them where they'd be most comfortable. Skipper Tom was brilliant, stopping and pointing out local areas and sights as we went along. We will definitely be having another go in the future... Maybe brave it up for the 15 minute Blast! Staff also upfront and honest about sea conditions - if they can't take you out they'll refund you or book you on another day. Top crew!
Best day of this year! I liked that we went over the other boat wake. I liked it because we went super fast and it was super fun. Milo was the best Captain. Would love to do it again. From Seb. Aged 8. (Best of Both Trip)
What a wonderful Father’s Day gift from my two teenage sons and wife! Exhilarating, but before a lovely cruise to see the coastline from the sea. Great people great fun and worth every minute. Hold on and have fun!
Would highly recommend this boat trip. We did the ‘best of both’ which includes high speed boat fun and some gentle bits to take in the scenery. Skipper was friendly and welcoming.
Fantastic fun for all the family! Whether you’re local or on holiday, you have to go on a rib ride! There are lots of different options ranging from scenic, more chilled rides to fast thrill seeking rides. The Jurassic Coast has to be seen from the water… it’s breathtaking. The team at Lyme Bay Rib Charter are absolute professionals and safety is paramount. We look forward to our next rib ride!
Having looked online and seen the options, I figured that our party of 12 would appreciate a "best of both" experience starting from West Bay, near Bridport, and ending at Lyme Regis. As this particular dish was not on the Lyme Bay RIB Charter menu, I picked up the phone and spoke with LBRC's very polite, knowledgeable and helpful Zoe. We agreed on an à la carte package that would combine sightseeing with the fast, furious and frantic! And we certainly got our money's worth... Our skipper, Milo, first took us East down the coast on a relatively sedate jaunt to Bridport, where he turned off the engines and stopped the RIB a few hundred yards out from the beach. Very scenic, very enjoyable. After a couple of minutes, though, it was time to fire up the engines, open the throttles and light up the afterburners as 700hp propelled us West towards Lyme Regis at SPEED, lifting up and crashing down as the RIB ploughed across the choppy late-October waters. After some time, we slowed down to catch our breaths, and I swapped my row four (out of six) seat for one at the FRONT. Then it was back up to SPEED. Wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW! Our exhilarating 45 minute experience came to an end as we slowly navigated into the harbour at Lyme Regis - 12 smiling faces and 12 great memories. Would we do it all again? NOT HALF! Tried to add a photo, but I failed.
We had such a great trip on the RIB. Everyone was professional and we had safety advice prior to going out. My partner was a bit unsure on the trip, waving to the skipper behind us bought the RIB to a complete stop instantly, my partner was then seated at the back of the boat where she felt alot better. The seating allows you to experience different levels of the ride. I sat at the front and loved it. Would go again for sure loved every minute of it.

What a great way to spend a Sunday morning! Went out as a family of four with John for a guided tour along the River Brit. It was enjoyable, informative and (most importantly!) great fun 😊 We learned loads about the local area and spotted not one but two water voles…who were probably just running scared of our wayward paddling 🤣 Thanks to John for an enthusiastic, interesting and fun morning out, was very much appreciated.
6 of us had the most fantastic afternoon on the river yesterday with John. John was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable as we canoed up river. It was a perfect relaxing activity for our family hen do and has inspired us to get onto the water more often. Would definitely recommend if you want to see Bridport from a different perspective and escape the crowds on land. Thank you John.
Finding activities that suit two family groups with 4 adults and 5 children (aged between 5-13) isn't always easy but our adventure on the river Brit was a complete winner. John was fantastic providing advice and information before the booking and Nick was incredible on the day. They were so friendly and supportive with the children, putting them all completely at ease despite not having much canoeing experience. Being out on the river was really tranquil and we loved hearing all about the history of the area and spotting nature. Seeing a gorgeous Kingfisher, who led the way up stream, was a massive highlight. Thanks to the West Bay Canoe team for a wonderful time to add to our Dorset holiday memories.
Be in the moment on River Brit! What a way to see the River Brit in West Bay, Dorset. Two canoes roped together to provide better stability, which also meant Graham didn’t have to row so much! Cormorants, dragonflies, water vole and being in the moment - wow. Great commentary by Nick too!
Amazing afternoon. We did the 2hr guided tour with Nick. So informative. He made the whole experience so fun for all of us. Would highly recommend these guys.
Really fun Canoe tour up the river. Incredible surroundings and beautiful wildlife- we spotted an Adder swimming across the river and lots of ducklings and baby Moorhens. John was really knowledgeable and told us some very interesting facts about the river and surrounding area. We stopped off at the Brewery and had time to pop in to the shop to get a bottle to take home. Highly recommend!
My wife and I had an amazing time. Our two hour guided trip was led by Nick, who had a wealth of knowledge about the various parts of the river we passed through, and was incredibly calm, kind and supportive in encouraging us as two inexperienced canoers. The river is beautiful, and the meandering course from West Bay towards Bridport is wonderfully secluded and peaceful for most of it's length, with plenty of wildlife pointed out to us by Nick. Not too strenuous, either - we took things at our own pace, so were able to focus on the nature the calming effect of being on the water in such a beautiful place. Highly recommended!
A brilliant fun morning for three generations of canoeists, 10 in total, guided by John who gave fascinating insights into the river history and wildlife as we went along. Very enthusiastic help by his daughter helping the group onto the water. Highly recommended for a peaceful change of scene and activity.

Just had a Sunday lunch here and I have to say was amazing!!! Great food, lovely flavour and fab portion sizes. Staff have been friendly all week when we have popped in for drinks and today was no different!!! Efficient, clean, happy and friendly. This is a must for a meal if you come to west bay, 5⭐️ thank you team, take a bow 🥰
We live in West Bay and have never used the West Bay hotel, previous tenants have been awful. We gave it a go last week on the off chance and boy were we pleasantly surprised, good food and great staff made our visit worthwhile. We will be back.
Pleasantly surprised with this small pub/hotel! Our room was well presented and clean with some thoughtful touches. The pub is ideally placed in the centre of West Bay right on the beach and walking distance to all the amenities. The breakfast was absolutely stunning and the steak and eggs served were an absolute highlight! Highly recommended!
We visited for dinner on 19.8.25. The building from the outside doesn't grab you as enticing but once you enter the restaurant, it's well laid out with plenty of seating. The food was excellent, we had the Half Pint of Prawns and the Seafood Tortellini in a crab and lobster bisque which I must say was the nicest plate of pasta I have had in a long time. Dessert was an Orange Cheesecake, the biscuit base was a bit difficult to get a spoon into but the taste was delicate and creamy. Service was of a high standard and you could see the staff worked very hard. All in all 5 out of 5 and we would would return. Well done
We'd never been to The West Bay hotel before, but went for Sunday lunch with family, who had recommended and booked the meal. Well, we were not disappointed. The meal was amazing and the service and friendliness of staff made for a very enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back. Well done team West Bay Hotel.
Called for lunch with a wheelchair bound grandad and very infirm nana. Superb. Helpful staff, easy chair access throughout, good disabled toilet excellent seafood lunch, Palmers beer. Everything you need
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. £15 for an average Sunday dinner which they don't put enough gravy on it, knowing that you are going to ask for more gravy and then rinse you an extra £1 for a thimble of gravy. Holiday makers are definitely classed as second class citizens
A real diamond, recently renovated and in keeping with its history. Lovely place for a really good, value, high quality meal. Our room was excellent, luxury and spacious. Everything we needed. Awesome breakfast. Really friendly staff.

Stayed at The Durbeyfield for a weekend trip. The furniture and decor could use an update, but it was clean and the bathroom spotless.Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast could have been better! If you are not picky about style and just want a clean, quiet place to sleep, this does the job!It is not modern or fancy,it is pretty tired looking but with some updates this property could make a much stronger first impression! Not a bad stay, but definitely not budget friendly for what it is! Beautiful pictures made by Ruta😘
The couple that runs it were so friendly and sweet! The breakfast was wonderful and the location is lovely. We had a great stay and would visit again. It is a bit dated, but clean and serviceable. The value is good for the area during tourist season. The free car parking was a nice bonus.
Just had a wonderful stay staff warm friendly very welcoming . Breakfast was lovely 😍 thank you for a fantastic stay shall be back 😀
Great location, practically on the beach with two nice cafes within a stone's throw. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of free tea, coffee and biscuits.
We are on our way home from a lovely time away, staying at the durbeyfield guest house. It was a lovely room, lovely fresh to order cooked breakfast 😋 will definitely use again next time we're in West bay
I'm not sure if this still operates as a bar. It's great as a B&B which is what we booked it for, comfortable room good breakfast, good access during the day and night close to the harbour and walks along the coast.
So the location is good, right in the centre. Parking is free and spaces for around 10 cars. Walk into town or the beach is 5 minutes. Nice harbour nearby. Few restaurants, lots of take aways. Local beach is pebbles, and dog friendly in certain areas. The guest house offers breakfast which was nicely done. The room was comfortable and suitable for a building of its age. The staff were friendly. I cannot fault this place to be honest, and found it a nice place for a stop over. Bar downstairs. Also.... dog friendly!!!
Great location, friendly staff, small carpark. The property it's self was clean for the most part, but very tired in places. I sat on two toilet seats both were loose. The lamp shade in the room was dusty. Nice full English. Has its very own small Bar and art gallery.

Nice little visitor centre lots of interaction for little people and free. Though donations keep these places open.
It is such a lovely little place. They always have a children's activity table at half term and there is a microscope and erosion activity that is always enjoyed by the children. The staff are lovely and warm too.
Amazing small museum with some creative use of historical and factual information on the local area. Our 4 year old never wanted to leave and was fully entertained for nearly 60 minutes. Is a single room of an old Chappel. A little gem in West Bay and a must visit.
Definitely worth coming into. Staff very helpful and friendly. Pop up Exhibition ‘West Bay in the War’ Bridport and West Bay like all towns was hugely affected by the impact of the Second World War, both from a civilian and military perspective. In this exhibition we aim to highlight some events that took place here which played an important role in achieving eventual peace in Europe in 1945.
A great place to visit, interesting history and development of West Bay it's easy to spend an hour there whether it's sunny or raining. Good refreshments 50 metres away.
Well worth a visit with kids to this little gem!
Free! But donations accepted. Great small place, mine were all interested. Colouring (& other stuff)for younger children and really cool microscope for the slighter older kids. Staff were really helpful.
This is such an interesting and well thought out free Descovery Centre. Lots of fun things for kids to do l learned alot about ship building at West Bay and loved the interactive screen and videos. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, well done West Bay, well worth a visit👍😊.
