What a fantastic place to find on vacation! We were just looking for a scenic lookout to see the mountains and the road ended into the nature center so we decided to have a look around. The staff inside the center were all super-friendly and took the time to listen to our stories and tell their own and recommended a trail based on what we told them. A quarter mile up the trail from the nature center we came to an overlook looking over the river/marsh and there was a huge bull moose in the water munching away on whatever it could dredge up from the water. The scenery is beautiful (even without the moose). Picturesque mountains, a beaver dam, and lush forests made our hike incredible. Everything was impeccably maintained; the nature center, both boardwalks we encountered, and the trails were all perfect. And then, to top it off, our son accidentally left his favorite sweatshirt behind on one of the boardwalks when we continued our hike. We left and didn't notice it was gone. We came back 4 hours later hoping someone turned it in at the nature center. No one had so I took a quick re-hike to retrace our steps. The sweatshirt was exactly where he had left it; no one had touched it the whole time we were gone. Super-cool place and great views. Would hike again!
What an absolutely beautiful little Nature Center. Enjoy the manicure Trail. At the time of our visit the longer path was closed due to bear activity and the Salmon Run. The Beaver Pond The Overlook. The interesting Visitor Center made for a great visit. They have a few different hiking trails you can walk. The trails and very well marked making planing your hike a breeze. We really enjoyed our visit to the Eagle River Nature Center
Visitors - add this to your list! Beautiful and serene. The trails are easy to navigate as signs are clearly marked. Locals - this is a wonderful place to take a break and enjoy the quiet environment. *images are late September
I love this nature center! It’s a great place to walk your dog and bask in the sun while enjoying some fresh air and great views. The trails are constantly updated and maintained.
This place is a great destination for outdoor lovers, wildlife viewers, adventure seekers, hikers, campers, or even dog mushers. Small fee to park or you can buy the annual pass. Small animal exhibit inside with some souvenirs and snacks. Take the trails that lead you into the nature center but bring bear bells, bear spray, and a 10mm or higher. During the salmon runs you can run into brown bears. Be sure to check the recent bear activity signs before heading in. They update the signs for trail closures as well. The staff love their jobs and are very friendly. There are tons of programs for kids and lots of events here. Don’t miss out!
Eagle River Nature Center was a fun hike. We wanted to do Albert Loop and Rodak Trail but these were closed because of the Salmon and Bear. The one trail open was Iditarod which led down to Rapids Campsite and a peek at the water. At this point there is a small hidden path up to a bench and lookout with 360 degree view.
The Eagle River Nature Center is an amazing spot to visit outside Anchorage. It was our first proper stop on a long road trip across the state and what an incredible introduction to the beauty of Alaska! We arrived shortly before opening but the trails are still accessible and especially quiet at the time in the morning. As we were leaving, we received some very helpful advice from the couple at the welcome desk (including some further hiking suggestions). Highly recommended as a place to go exploring in the outdoors!
Great hiking and there was enough parking for our group. Very easy paths for kids and families with nice views of the river and surrounding mountains

We took this tour in late June 2024. It ranked very high on our long list of Alaskan Adventures. I think Bob was our tour guide. Accept the offered handkerchief to cover your nose and mouth from dust and be prepared to be covered in dust and I imagine mud if it’s raining. So worth it! The entire trail was beautiful. We were a group of 5, mostly beginners. The pace was quick, and while much of it was exhilarating but not scary, there was a fair bit of adrenaline involved. The short hike to the waterfall was nice, and although we didn’t see wildlife beyond birds, it was still a really beautiful adventure start to finish. We loved crashing through the stream bed and we only saw a few people on the entire trail, so we felt like the forest was ours. I highly recommend this adventure. We came from Anchorage and stopped at the wildlife conservation center before our tour in the afternoon. It was a very reasonable day trip.
This was an amazing half day excursion! Bob is the ultimate guide. It was a challenging, fun, scenic, exhilarating, wet and DIRTY tour of of the Chugach National Forest. Midway we went on a great hike and Bob knew where all the great photo op spots were (as an added bonus, he’s a great photographer and got some memorable shots of us with our own cameras). We were were glad we did the half day as it provided a ton of backwoods fun and gave us time to do something different in the afternoon! Thanks Bob!
Absolute 10/10 must do if you’re in the Anchorage area!! Bob was an excellent tour guide we had an amazing experience. Change of clothes is a good idea to bring and a GoPro if you have one. Even with minimal to no ATV experience, this is still an excellent experience and well worth it. We were fortunate enough to see a brown bear fishing for salmon in a river at the end of the tour. Bob was always looking out for wildlife and has years of experience on these trails. Some places ask you to leave a review but not here, I’m just writing this so more people can have a great experience with this company on this tour. Thanks again Bob!
Had an AMAZING tour this past weekend. Kris was the best tour guide, super knowledgeable about the area and very personable. Made sure everyone felt comfortable on the ATV before heading out and took us on some amazing trails with the most beautiful views. I seriously think this is the best and most authentic alaska ATV tour out there. Made unforgettable memories on this trip. I absolutely loved every second of it. Thank yall so much for the experience!!!
Ended up just being the two of us - Bob guiding and me following. Was good, flexible and fun. If I had one request it would be to go up higher in elevation…not sure if the ATV trails do but if so would be nice. Owner on the phone and txt was very pleasant and responsive and git me in last minute as I decided getting out in the dirt way better than spa day at Alyeska. My guide Bob was very cordial and also knowledgeable, with a good eye for spotting wildlife. Definitely recommend Alaska ATV Adventures. Thanks.
Phenomenal tour! ATV trail ride, a hike to see a waterfall, and we were able to see 3 bears with a spotting scope. It is a great way to experience some of Chugach.
This was an amazing Alaska adventure! The trail was challenging and high energy and fun! We took a nature walk to a beautiful waterfall. Really a great day on the Chubach trails.
This was a great ride through the forest. We had no equipment failures, and the hike down to the river full of salmon was epic. It has rained ,so there was water everywhere! Perfect start to our vacation.

It's one of my favorite hiking spots in Alaska! It is located in the heart of Eagle River. There's an easy way and a hard way to get to the top. Once you get to the top, you will be awarded with absolute stunning views!
Steep at the beginning and you can transition to switch backs. I only chose moderate because of the initial steepness and also because it can get fairly muddy. All in all, the trail is great. Fantastic views. Dog Friendly and kid friendly on dry days. Bear scat on the trail frequently so make sure to carry. To the top and back or take the loop to the top and around in about 2 hours or less. We spent lots of time at the top, so that's why I selected 2-3hrs.
I was nervous to go alone and immediately seen bear skat but I called people and made noise haha! Other people are around too. Went towards the homestead and it's been bulldozed. They cleared the trees along the trail though and the views are incredible. The other trail is for people that get out more than me! I'm a chubby tourist and know my limits!
Great hike for kids and broken folks like me. Absolutely beautiful view of Eagle River, the Arm, and Anchorage. Make sure you look this one up on the All Trails app or something similar. It's very easy to end up climbing the face or trespassing if you pick the wrong path because the trail is not marked and the information board has been empty for years. Might be a good Eagle project...
A moderate difficulty hiking trail and more so if you take the steeper short cuts on the way up!
BEAUTIFUL! If you plan on just driving up there, you still get an amazing view from the top! Park on the side of the road and walk to the edge to get the view 😎 For the hike, it was pretty rough. I would wait until the ice melts because that was extremely dangerous doing it. It's a steady incline all of the way up and it hardly flats out. The views from the top were gorgeous! I recommend having good ice cleats and walking sticks if you're doing this in the winter! For the summer, enjoy the climb 😀
A nice little hike. You need some entry level fitness and health to complete this hike to the summit. Trail can be slippery and lung capacity and balance are important
First time wearing crampons and glad we did. Pretty icy with about an inch of snow the day we were there. VERY steep! Cardio wise I was ok but, man! My quads and calfs were feeling the burn. 🔥 But ya know, pain is just weakness leaving the body. :-)

Great hike, a June 2024 update though. First off, the mud is no more. There are now VERY nice wooden walkways over the mud on middle and last parts of the trail. We went after a 5+ day dry period, minimal wet areas, easily dealt with. There were fish visible near shore on Symphony Lake, opens July 1st, check regulations. We took about 5 hours for the round trip, spent 30 minutes on site.
If you're looking for a trailhead that's only 30 minutes from downtown Anchorage in Eagle River that takes you on a fairly easy hike into a beautiful glacial valley and which is about 6 miles in and 6 miles out so you can plan on 4 to 5 hours of awesome, stunning vistas and not overly tired legs-- then you have found it in the South Fork Valley Trailhead. A popular location for the locals and a delightful place for their dogs, you'll have a great time. Just bring dramamine for the curvy and up-and-down road to the parking lot.
Small parking lot with a broken parking meter. Lots of blueberries up the trail! People park along the road outside. The homeowners around have signs asking for no parking in front of their property’s so be courteous.
Absolutely love this hike, one of my favorites in the area. I've gone there in the fall several times, but finally hiked it in the winter and it's great. It was a little hard to find the trail out of the parking lot... Will you leave the parking lot just fine but then so many people have forked off to go skiing, snowshoeing, or hiking.. We didn't quite know which trail was the correct trail. We were able to get to the correct trail very easily. The winter trail is pretty narrow because people have packed it down single file. I would highly recommend snow spikes, but most of our group didn't have them and did just fine.
Great hike near town. A near 12 mile round trip. The boulder field is a bit large but I mean, it’s a boulder field resulting from a Glacier so it’s to be expected. But it has a beautiful view and the hike has very little elevation gain when doing the Eagle/Symphony lake trail. There are other hikes that start from this point as well that have some serious elevation gain but the main trail does not. Great hike.
Beauty trail. We didn’t go the full length to the lake, but we stopped at the bridge and then turned around. To the bridge and back was right around 5 miles. The kids had a great time, and the views around the bridge were gorgeous. A great trail for beginners looking for that next level up.
Views are to die for!! You have to pay for parking but it was so busy we had to park down the hill. The hike to the lake is 5.5 miles. The first half isn’t too bad since the trail is nicely kept but after that it gets muddy and narrow. There were a lot of dogs not on leashes, just a heads up. Also, once you get to the lake it’s nothing but big rocks. Smaller dogs may have trouble, there’s lots of holes your fur friend can fall into. Bring comfy shoes and something to keep you warm.
So beautiful! The first thee miles are easy going then the farther you go the trail is less maintained. Worth it probably any time of the year.

First of all, I feel weird rating a church but, people need to know about this place. My husband and I grew up protestant. We converted to Orthodox in 2023. We hold this church near to our hearts. The people and Clergy are so humble welcoming and love the Lord. Amazing community. We have attended several weekday vespers and Sunday Liturgies when we're in Anchorage. It was so intimate and inviting. A place to truly worship the Lord. Bishop Alexai, Bishop of Alaska and Sitka, He is such an amazing teacher committed to loving and serving the people of Alaska. We hope in the coming years this church flourishes. God bless.
Beautiful Alaska Orthodox Christian community. Beautiful church.
Absolutely beautiful church and very sweet people! We were just passing through but wanted to attend a service while in Alaska. We went to a Pre-sanctified liturgy and had a great time. Fr Thomas was very welcoming and his wife has an absolutely beautiful voice! We visited their bookstore and found some amazing gems. If you're in Anchorage, you have to visit St Innocent!
They've changed alot since I was a young child. For instance my 80 year old grama attended a service and there were no chairs available for her to sit down and no one in there offered her their seat or tried to even help her. She told me of her experience.
We came from California to get to know Alaska, John was nice enough to show us the church. We really appreciate it his hospitality.
It is remarkable how people preserve and keep practicing their faith after so many years.
Was next door in an apartment my sister dropped me off..but looking really busy

Amazing drinks and live music! Absolutely love that they are family friendly and have a large enough space to either enjoy some quiet time with friends or dance the night away. Beer is great but also like that they have a variety of N/A and liquor options. And food trucks most nights.
Enjoyed our time here with great people we met on the trail to Thunder Bird Falls. Highly recommend the pararescue beer!
Great local brewery with an excellent selection of taps. They also have a kombucha and non-alcoholic sodas on tap. They now have TVs and hard liquor drinks as well. OMR also has a fantastic rotation of food trucks that satisfy your food needs. They also just opened their rooftop! Have a drink with a view! Their event space is great if you want to catch some live music or trivia, or host your own event. I highly recommend them!
Love the hockey theme! My favorite brewery in AK. Great food trucks also there.
Great porter with vanilla taste. Wine selection is small but quenching. Delicious beer along with the nachos from the food truck with extra spicy sauce. Yummy. Go early to get a seat.
Stopped in for a drink and to cheers my brother who got married across the country from us today. Very fun place. Originally sat on the rooftop patio, but moved inside as it got just a little cooler than we could handle. Everyone that works there was approachable and answered any questions we had. They don't have any food here, but did have a food truck outside and appear to have a few on rotation. The beers both my sister and I had were great. I had the El Guapo - a jalapeño beer that was delicious without being too spicy. I'd definitely come again if I was nearby.
Visited from Colorado and made it a priority to stop here. Hockey themed brewery? You had me at hockey. Great beer and friendly staff. The food truck was also amazing. El Senor Moose was the name and the carnitas nachos were insane.
Great atmosphere! Great choices. They just came out with a new brew called Sons of the North a White Stout (SO Good)! This is definitely the place to go if you’re wanting to try some of the best brew in Anchorage.

Went in off season. Trail was packed by snow mobiles so no need for snow shoes. It can be easy to miss the return turn (I only caught it because I had a gps) so keep an eye out. Good hike. There was evidence of Moose around. Road to the parking lot is very tight and coming up someone rammed into the drift because they were going too fast and lost control. Once we lost our momentum our 2wd vehicle couldn't make it up, thankfully sand is provided there.
It’s beautiful this time of year with the golden leaves blanketing the frozen ground.
Beautiful park well kept trails flat and easy walking for the most part great for kids and dogs
Well kept trails and gorgeous scenery. Couldn't ask for a better place close to home for a nice little hike.
So pretty and peaceful. The river is low today and the salmon are fun to watch.
Great short, but beautiful little loop and walk to the river.
Quiet, lovely walk to the river. About half a mile, flat. Sometimes very wet when it rains!
Nice place to relax an have lunch.... then see a bear and her cub eating and not caring about humans in th he area
Nice in and out trail, about 0.80 miles one way. It is recommended that bear protection be brought, especially during salmon season. Wonderful views and river bank access at the end of the trail.

Katie (owner) was very kind to walk me through her shop and show me how it is organized. Very knowledgeable and skilled in her creative crafts! She mentioned they rearrange a lot, but she took the time to show me everything and answer all my questions. I appreciate that she has a small, dedicated area for coffee or tea and a place to sit while waiting for her to help customers. I recommend supporting her local business and like that she mainly only sells natural fibers (cotton, and some wool available too). It is a comfortable space to visit and meet new people if they are hanging out too. Classes can be found online but be sure to follow up by phone (or stop in and check out her store) in case there is extra equipment or supplies needed for the class! She has a beautifully decorated and clean space a few doors down for the classes. (Suggestion: It would be helpful to have the supplies list posted with the class information online so students can come prepared.) Thank you, Katie, for taking the time with me today! I look forward to enjoying this new creative craft and supporting your local business as much as I can!
While on a tour with Country Heritage Tours we were fortunate and had the pleasure of visiting this darling store! Katy, the owner is so friendly, welcoming and goes over and above to make your shopping experience the best! She has many displays, variety of fabrics, supplies and decorated so cute. This is a must stop if you are in the area!
Very helpful and friendly owner. Lots of fabrics etc... Great place!
This is a wonderful store! I was promptly greeted by a warm person who would introduce themself as the owner. They were endlessly friendly, helpful, and recommended a quilting event I'm sure I will enjoy. They even shared some of the gorgeous needlework they were doing with me! The selection was great, the pricing was excellent and the overall feeling of the store was lovely. I do not ordinarily write reviews, but even a day later my positive experience is still on my mind.
A perfect selection of fabrics and quilting supplies. Friendly helpful service. Beautiful patterns and kits, accessories from buttons and sizzors to thread and DVDs how-tos.
I just went to Twisted Sisters' today. Katie and her daughter were working together. They went out of their way to help me with a rag quilt. These ladies are simply amazing. Its more than a just another sale to them. They made me feel so special as they helped put my fabric selections together. I will recommend them to everybody. What a pleasure. You won't be disappointed. I also bought a sisters box. It was full of usable fun stuff! I love it! Thank you ladies for a wonderful experience:-)
This is a great shop, every time that I have stopped in I have always been greeted warmly. They have lovely material and supplies to cover your needs plus many more items you want to have. They have beautiful quilts made up for you to drool over, some are even for sale. Even if you aren’t a quilter I think you would enjoy stopping by just to look, talk and listen.
Another lovely trip to this wonderful quilt shop. This mom and daughter duo make every moment a joyful shopping experience. I am so happy to see they are still strong and steady during such hard times. I for one am a BIG FAN 💖

I love taking my one-year-old to the open toddler time Monday through Friday 10 to noon. I also take him to a music class there. We went to the ice-skating competition last weekend and it was wonderful. Great place to get out in the community, especially in the winter time.
Nice hockey rink in Eagle river. They have heaters and live barn.
This place has gone downhill, the classes are short, the website is not kept up to date, and communication is terrible. I have tried multiple times to set up private lessons for my daughter but get either pushback or no response. They either need help or better management.
Best ice rink in eagle River also the only ice rink in eagle River (it is good though)
Staff was beyond helpful and open skate was so fun! Would definitely go again anytime! Bathrooms were clean and they also have vending machines if you want a snack. Ice skates and hockey skates are there to rent.
I showed up at 4:00 pm on Friday afternoon. Parking lot was nearly empty. I just wanted to practice with my fly rod. No one in sight on the turf. But NO! I couldn’t pay my $8 to practice because open “turf time” wasn’t “on the schedule”. When I asked when is turf time available, I was told to go to the Website. I looked on their website and turf time closed at 1:45 pm or something like that.
I love this place but I swear their turf hours change constantly and are never really updated online or in the building. One day we called and they were like it’s opened until 10pm and then next time we called they acted like it’s obvious they close at 4pm. Also it’s a bit pricey per kid for just turf. There is a guy that works there with dark hair and a dark beard that is super friendly and one guy I occasionally see on the weekends though who is nice. But wow the hours of turf needs to be a lot more obvious and when there is times blocked off
Everyone who lives in Eagle River knows the MAC Center. A home for youth and adult soccer, hockey, figure and speed skating the community has been well served by this multifaceted facility for decades. The walking track gives parents a chance to exercise during games and the snack bar and vending machines give nice options for those spending the day at tournaments. The stands are great for watching games and there is plenty of seating for both home and away fans.

Their carefully curated selection is both beautiful and thoughtful, with something for everyone—from charming home decor to one-of-a-kind treasures that make every visit special. The staff is warm and welcoming, always ready to help you find just the right item or share recommendations. You can tell they take pride in creating an inviting space filled with creativity and inspiration. It’s my go-to shop for meaningful gifts and a little personal indulgence!
A great store at a perfect location. A wide array of homegoods, high end clothes, adorable trinkets and accessories, seasonal items and a kids corner. Conveniently located adjoining Jitters this is a wonderful place to browse for things you didn't know you needed, to spruce up you house or find the perfect gift for a friend. The inventory changes seasonally, making it fun to visit every few months.
My go-to shop for a unique gift. You walk into a space full of all things beautiful, so thoughtfully displayed. You can tell the owner takes true pride in the store and product, and can always help point you in the direction of the perfect item for any occasion. I especially love their children's section - so many fun activities, books, and one-of-a-kind toys. There is also a large section of women's clothing that is high quality, unique pieces for a perfect addition to your wardrobe.
My favorite shop in Eagle River! This shop is my go-to destination for one-of-a-kind gifts. I appreciate the complimentary gift wrapping service, which adds a special touch to the already impressive selection of unexpected treasures.
The store is so cute with a bunch of little trinkets! The workers are not as nice though, didn’t greet me at checkout or nothing just told me my total. Also, kind of rude and dry when i asked about things being in stock. I felt bad being there like i was interrupting them:( Picture This…more like picture unfriendly and unwelcoming vibes
Very cute store. Horrible customer service. As a repeat customer I was in the fence about buying a discounted purse because I thought I had one like it. I said I would come back for it. With the sales persons encouragement that I could return it I purchased it along with another and multiple items. They were closed the next day and I went on a four-day work trip. Immediately on my return, I went to exchange the purse. And was told I could not exchange or return. I explained my situation to the same sales person that told me I could return it. She called the owner and they both confirmed they would not exchange or return the purse. Do not shop here with the expectation of honesty or follow-through. This is the first review I’ve ever written. Very disappointed with this small business value on its customers.
Oh man, so much fun stuff there. It's a little spendy, but a great and fun place to shop. The mom sign was my favorite. A lot of creative things... and so much to look at.
My all time favorite "secret" gift shop!
