A network of caves burrows into the cliffs around this white-sand beach popular for day trips.

Did a early (8am) Sunday morning hike to the beach, very quiet, water was amazing. Lots of campers (some waking up hungover). There are two bars, sun bed/chair rental and water activity toy rentals.
Little bit difficult to reach this beach via narrow path from main road - about 30-40 min walking. The entrance to the Gjipe canyon directly from the beach trough the "camp" place. The nice walk into canyon untill the first more difficult big stone obstacle cca 600 (800)m from the beach - unfortunately with the broken climber rope = finish = no way to proceed.
Cons: mandatory paid parking (400lek) , and the campsite and few businesses around the area have massive amounts of trash at the bottom of the bay ( it does seem like they’re slowly working on taking it out after tourism season) , and it got pretty crowded as of October 20th by late morning/ early afternoon. Pretty low dangling electric line as well dropped across the whole beach Pros: it’s a nice beach, with nice rocks/ canyon behind it
We parked for just 4 euros in September, plenty of spots since we arrived early and hiked down about 20 minutes to the beach. The trail's rocky and uneven with all sorts of stones, so sturdy sneakers are a smart move to keep it comfortable. The beach itself is a dream: pristine and peaceful, with rentable sunbeds (we brought our own and set up near the caves at the far end for that secluded vibe). The water is breathtakingly clear and inviting, perfect for a refreshing swim. There's a cozy restaurant with reasonable prices, public bathrooms, and a little bar for easy drinks. Campers with tents dotted the area, adding to the laid-back scene, and if you're feeling adventurous, you can explore the nearby canyon hike. Head back before dark, the uphill climb takes 30-40 minutes and feels tougher, but we got lucky when a kind local in a jeep offered us a free lift to the top (we tipped him gratefully for the save). An unforgettable spot that's absolutely worth the effort. Highly recommend!
Just a wonderful place. Crystal clear water and breathtaking views. A little difficult to get to (you have to walk about 30 minutes on a rocky road and the scorching sun). It is very crowded in the season but there is plenty of space if you arrive in the morning. There is a bar on the beach. Before the descent there is a large paid parking lot where you can leave your car.
The only reason to go there is to combine hiking and beach, as there is an access to canyon which is beautiful. The beach is okey, the water was nothing special- we stay in Himare - the colors and quality of water much better. The view from the water to the canyon is beautiful. If you ask me, will I go again - my answer is no. 1) the road On the map the road leads directly to the beach. It does. But last 15 min it is very very bad , big stones, very narrow, on the slope, without any side barriers. We parked the care on the big parking spot, paid 4 euro. Then you go down this road by food ( take your sport shoes on). 2) expansive It was not crazy busy, we came at 15:00. Took a sunbads - 20 euro. There is no shower. So I think for that reason it is overpriced. 3) dirty There are a lot of campers. Who apparently contributed to the big dump and all that trash that lays on the back of the beach. 4) rude ppl who work at the “cafe” cafe looks like abandon barn. Ppl who work there are quite rude. My advice: you can enter the canyon from the road side, have a hike till the beach, stay at the sea, and return without all that experience.
While it's certainly beautiful and quite unique naturewise, the quantity of people there during summer is ridiculous. The beach itself is public though you can rent sunbeds etc. It's super crowded, people partying with loud music, and party boats passing by. Heaps of aggressive wasps and rubbish. Parking is chaotic and private (4€-8€ for a car), and the narrow access road makes getting there or leaving almost impossible during rush hour. Keep in mind that you'll have to walk 20min downhill to get there.
The beach is great and clean but the road down to it is very challenging. If you don't have an off road car, you have to walk to get to the beach and park the car at the parking on the hill. If you have an off road car, note that the road has a lot of stones and no side protection barriers. It's very difficult when 2 cars are exchanged because the road is narrow. The canyon is an extra beauty added.

Ali Pasha Tepelena Castle near Porto Palermo Beach is a must—just a quick 5-minute hike up from the pebbly shore. 3€ per person gets you in for those jaw-dropping sea views from the top. Compact, atmospheric, and the perfect beach break; totally elevates your day. Highly recommend!
Interesting castle. We visited during preparations of some concert, so cables, chairs, stuff was everywhere and it kind od ruined the photos. The views are nice. Great price of history. The path leading to the castle was not really welcoming, lot of rubbish everywhere (like in all Albania).
A small fortress, a well-preserved piece of history, but not well-showcased. There are no legends or descriptions of the times and history of the fortress. There is no dedicated parking; you can park your car near the bay and walk for about 5 minutes. The fee is minimal, and it's worth a visit, but again, without descriptions, a story... the experience feels dry.
Porto Palermo is an amazing place full of history and charm. The views are absolutely stunning, especially on sunny days when the turquoise water sparkles in the sunlight — it looks truly breathtaking. There’s also a nice restaurant nearby, maybe not the cheapest, but the food is genuinely delicious and worth it. The whole area has a fantastic atmosphere and is definitely worth visiting. However, there is one major problem that really needs attention — cleanliness. Unfortunately, the place can be very dirty at times. We’ve been there several times, and piles of garbage with a terrible smell were left lying around. It’s shocking that such a beautiful and popular destination, visited by so many tourists every day, is not properly maintained. It’s surprising that the local authorities allow this to happen in such a remarkable location. Despite this issue, I still highly recommend visiting Porto Palermo. It’s a beautiful spot where you can swim, relax, or even come with a camper van or launch a jet ski or a small boat. It truly has great potential — I just hope the cleanliness will soon match the beauty of this place.
For €3 per person it was fine, but not a place I’d go out of my way to visit. Nice views from the top of the castle and it is probably interesting for those that know the history, but there was no information about the history on site for those that didn’t do any reading prior to the visit. We went during off season so there was enough parking, but I imagine that parking would be tricky when it’s busy. Entry fee was only payable in cash.
Porto Palermo Castle is a great stop if you’re exploring the Albanian Riviera. The entrance fee is 300 LEK (cash only), and there’s plenty of parking right in front, which makes it super convenient. The castle itself is small but interesting, with beautiful views over the bay and some great photo opportunities. There’s also a lovely little beach right next to it which is perfect for a quick swim or just relaxing after your visit. It’s a nice, easy visit that doesn’t take too long and is definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area!
Very nice and big castle to explore. We had only a few people there, but I think it can get crowded. There is a free parking at the beach (the beach I wouldn't reccommend, because there was quite a lot of trash around, but some people were still there)
Porto Palermo Castle is a stunning surprise on Albania’s southern coast. Perfect for a break from beach days, its fortress walls and sea views transport you back in time. Explore, snap photos, and soak in history with a side of Adriatic breeze.

Beautiful, crystal-clear blue water and a pebble beach. It was calm and peaceful during our visit in mid to late June, and I genuinely enjoyed it. Unfortunately, there was some litter scattered across the beach, which seems to be more due to visitors’ negligence than anything else.
One of the best beaches in the whole world! Water is warm (September) and crystal clear. No need to wear swimming shoe as the pebbles are small.
Very nice beach surrounded by mountains. You can rent an umbrella if you want. But there is also a place for staying with your own stuff
Nice beach. Free street if you get there earliest enough. 2 beds and an umbrella for 1000 lek
Wonderful, the water is like crystal so nice and clean hygiene,
A beautiful, quiet beach with free parking (all the way at the end—takes a bit of looking). No loud music, just the sound of the sea, with mostly locals and families enjoying the calm. The water is crystal clear, with small fish swimming around your feet, and the seabed drops off fairly quickly, turning from pebbles into soft sand. There are a few simple beach bars with a good price/quality balance, nothing fancy but perfectly fine for drinks or a snack. Up on the surrounding hills, new resorts are being built, so it’s hard to say if the beach will remain this peaceful and authentic in a few years’ time.
The beach is not big, I do worry about the health and congestion of this area as they continue to build more and more housing / hotels.
How can one destroy a nice beach so completely and devastatingly?.... all around bulldozers and horrible new blocks.... looks like a warzone.

Lovely beach with free umbrellas for shade. You have to drive all the way to the back for the local beach area!
Beautiful beach with a concrete jetty that is fun to jump off! However, it’s very overrun by sun lounges and umbrellas with a very small space for public use.
Livadhi Beach is super easy to reach by car. We parked right across the street for free, grabbed our umbrellas, and settled into the public section (rentable sunbeds available if you prefer). Just a heads-up: the road in has a ton of sharp turns, so take it slow and steady for a stress-free drive. It's a pebbly stretch, so water shoes are a good call for comfort. Totally open and welcoming, with space for both public loungers and paid setups. Tons of restaurants and bars nearby, plus hotels dotted around, so everything's conveniently close. The water? Crystal clear and alive with fish darting about—caught my eye in the best way. Absolutely worth a stop; it's got that effortless charm that makes the day feel perfect.
Our favourite beach in Albania - crystal clear water, chilled atmosphere (escape from the loud music) and a big public area if you drive to the far end before Babylonia. Free parking, good shops and restaurants and a brilliant bakery.
The beach itself is quite nice, but unfortunately, the surrounding area is poorly maintained. There’s a noticeable amount of rubbish around, and it seems like no effort is being made to clean it up. On our walk from the accommodation to the beach, we even saw sewage water running openly on the ground, which was very off-putting. Another major downside was the loud music from nearby beach bars, which made it hard to relax. The food was average at best—nothing particularly memorable. Having spent a week in Corfu, I noticed a massive difference in cleanliness, atmosphere, and overall experience.
The beach is set in a nice bay, as mentioned before there is quite a bit of trash left behind from the summer bars. PLEASE, if you are visiting in winter, please bring some food for the street cats and feed them as no one seems to live here in the winter. We visited end of October/November it was nice and quiet. There isn’t much open at this time apart from one or two expensive small markets without much choice. So bring food and supplies.
Love this beach! No shopping but there are a ton of restaurants, markets and places to eat.
It was an amazing beach but there is sewage water, draining into the sea at some point. The beach alone looks clean and beautiful but occasionally you can spot piles of trash at the beaches; Aquarium beach was the best of all in my opinion!

Incredible place. Could not recommend it more. Elton was a great waiter. He was very helpful when my friend needed ice on their foot. He was very attentive and always checked on us. He also helped sort some transport back to our hotel in another town. Thanks to the whole team at Folie Marine and especially Elton.
I stayed at Folie Marine for 4 nights. The rooms were spacious and the sleep very comfortable. The food by the pool was very good, although the prices were a bit high—similar to Switzerland. At the other restaurant, the prices were extremely high for the portion size! The hostesses at the entrance were polite, and while not all the waiters were friendly, overall the service was okay. The beaches and the water were very clean. Overall, it was a good experience, but the drink prices in particular were way too expensive.
This location and hotel is for 5…there are “mini” kind of things for 4,5 but it definitely is underrated on google with 4.0
loved it, very friendly staff
We visited Folie Marine and spent some time at the VIP lounge for cocktails, which were actually very good. Parking, however, costs €10 and there’s no official ticket or receipt, just someone at the entrance asking for money. The location itself is stunning, a natural paradise but unfortunately, it is currently overrun with reinforced concrete structures. What was once a virgin beach is now being transformed into a chaotic construction site, with mixers, scaffolding, dust, and constant noise. As a conclusion, the place feels stressful rather than relaxing, and we wouldn’t go back. If the beach were left as it is with only the Folie Marine structure at beach it could be perfect. But in its current state of overdevelopment, it simply makes no sense.
Absolutely terrible experience. When I complained that the AC wasn’t working even with the key inserted, the hotel downgraded me to an even worse room, despite the hotel being half empty. The AC works only when the keys are inserted, so the rooms are damp and prone to mold. I live in Florida and run the AC 24/7 to avoid mold, as it is a severe issue that's difficult to eliminate once it's established. The Staff were rude and unhelpful. The health department should inspect this hotel for the problems mentioned above.
Great service at this place. Very kind and welcoming
It’s a nice place, came here and tried the beach, club and restaurant. Firstly the beach was great, I have been here also last summer and it’s still clean and nice. The club was great, it definitely varies on the artist but it’s quite nice. I was surprised by the restaurant because it actually was quite good. I enjoyed it. I ordered a risotto and loved it. The salad was just fine but I can say that they probably put all the effort in the main course and that’s why the salad was lacking quite a bit.

Himara Castle is a peaceful and scenic place to explore, with amazing views over the coastline and the surrounding mountains. It’s not a traditional, fully intact castle but more like a historic village with ruins, old churches, and a few local homes scattered inside the walls, which makes it really unique. It’s a great spot to wander, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere. It’s usually quiet and not crowded, especially in the morning or late afternoon. I went before sunset and there was barely no one. Tip: Wear good shoes. The paths are uneven and rocky in some parts. Made the mistake to wear flip flops. Overall, a great little adventure and definitely worth the walk or short drive up from Himara town!
Loved this wonderful mix of fortress, old town, and castle. It is very unique, well-worth the 300 lek entrance, the views are breathtaking and it’s magical to get lost in the cute alleyways without signs or staff guiding you. There are a couple of nice spots for drinks/coffee, but not dinner. Walked there (roughly one hour and 40 floors) from Himare and easy to find a taxi back.
I loved visiting here because it seemed much less touristed than other castles. There are lots of photo opportunities. There are sweet little cafes tucked into the stone walls. The church is wonderful, with the original paintings on the walls. There are beautiful view of the sea and the surrounding environment of mountains makes for a perfect setting.
We had a great time walking through this old castle, some of it is rundown but there’s an old church that’s in good shape and the views from the castle are stunning! We came in November so pretty much had the place to ourselves, not sure how the experience would be if it was crowded but once inside the area, you walk through a small old town as well that’s quite tranquil. There is also a cafe (cafe butterfly) in this area with a great view and a nice spot to stop for a drink or coffee when exploring.
Watched the sunset and it was amazing. But of a maze trying to get to the top and viewing point. Cost is 300lek per person. Don’t like notes, or euros and definitely doesn’t accept card. The is some information available around the castle.
It was quiet when we visited on a weekday, off season. I guess it can become pretty crowded. We had to pay 300 lek to enter the old town. Not too much, but there's also not much to see. Nice view though
Speechless about this castle.Great view in the front of Livadi beach and at the back the wild mountains.Indide the castle people are still living there, damn lucky. Also, there are some cafe’s where you can enjoy greek coffee and ouzo. There is a majestic church ,that is small, but beautiful built by Himaera ‘s people on 10 th century!!Furthermore, you can arrange some apartments inside the castle ,that seemed to be beautiful and stunning. The locals are very friendly and ready to help. I have to mention that it is shocking that Greek people kept their identity, even though the borders are miles away.
By Himara’s historic walls, the sea and mountains meet. Arches collapsed, fallen stone, nice to climb in late summer heat. Go wander past the newly treaded way, look inside broken buildings at beautiful decay. ——- Ruins of Himara Castle on a hilltop overlooking Livadhi Beach on one side and the mountains/valley on the other. Worth the trek up / entry fee for the view. Make sure you go off the worn path and look into the former buildings. Lots of interesting nooks and an old church that still has religious items in.

We had an amazing time! The boat trip was such a great experience, we went all around the coast, stopped for a swim, and enjoyed stunning scenery the whole way. The captain and Sarah were super lovely and made the trip even more special. Highly recommended!
Fantastic Boat Trip Along the Himarë Coastline We booked the Grama Bay tour and had a truly unforgettable experience. Even though the boat didn’t stop at all the beaches that were promised, it still turned out to be one of the best days of our lives. The stunning coastline, clear waters, and relaxed vibe made it all worth it. A big thank you to the team—they provided snacks and water during the trip, which may seem basic, but it really shows they care about guest comfort. That small gesture made a big difference. Overall, a wonderful and great value-for-money way to explore the Himarë coastline!
This was the best experience I have done whilst in Albania! A group of friends and I did the Gramma Bay boat trip and WOW…. Many of the places we stopped off along the coast can only be seen by boat. I also did my research and discovered that this company is the best in Himara. I am so glad I booked with them because it was clear the skippers were extremely knowledgeable!!! I highly recommend this company for anyone considering booking a boat tour whilst in Himara.
I had an amazing experience with this boat company. The service was excellent from start to finish. The boat was in perfect condition, very comfortable, and well maintained. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and professional, which made the whole trip even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a reliable and pleasant boating experience.
Today we had a day trip with George who was very kind and very knowledgeable about all the beaches around Himare. We visited so many beautiful beaches and caves, which were away from the tourists. Highly recommend this to anyone and appreciate Emma for helping us book this tour along with other recommendations for Albania!
Im so happy i did this boat tour during sunset! I enjoyed my day touring around and swimming!🥰 the captain (Niko) explained the history of the places we visited. He was very good at navigating the sea despite the strong current. Highly recommended!
Unbelievable day out on the boat. One of the most beautiful boat tours I’ve ever done! Captain Christopher was so informative with the history and stopped at the most beautiful swim spots.
We booked a 3.5 hour, whole coast, private tour! Emma helped us to decide on the best and cheapest option for our group of 6 and we loved every minute! Our captain George was very knowledgeable and took us to the most private and beautiful locations. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone!

Can’t find any blue water like here, very deep in few meters. At mumbas Beach you will pay 25€ for the umbrellas, the restaurant is a high class , the price are little bit higher than usual but it is worth it for 1 or 2 days.
The beach is split, one part is completely private, where you pay 25€ per person (and you need a reservation?) just to enter, and the other half is "accessible for free", but when we were there, we were told that we couldn't lie in the sand, and that we had to rent a sunbed. (25€ for 2) The sunbeds weren't new or hygienic looking at all, so 12,50€ per person + parking is absurd, especially since we only came to snorkel for a bit, and you'd think that the beach is no one's property.
Great beach....very clean, quiteand not overcrowded...prices of umbrellas, food and drink are overpriced compared to the rest of Albania. Deck chairs €20 back-€30 mid-€70 front..coffee €4....pasta €12-€18
Amazing place! Wonderful beach, well equipped, with crystal-clear water. It has private parking, a bar, a restaurant, and high-quality sun loungers. Definitely worth a visit!
Quite expensive prices and crowded place. But the beach and water is just amazing
Just wanted to go for a swim Was told at reception that that hotel beach was not available But said we could use beach at the other end Once we started walking to this area of the beach Another staff member then proceeded to tell us is it was shut. Extremely disappointed, unwelcoming and unprofessional for a tourist destination.
Very beautifull, but very expensive beach. Renting an umbrella costs 25 euros and they don't allow you to just come, put your own towel and enjoy.
This beach offers very clear water but is quite small and crowded with sunbeds, which can make for a cramped experience. While there’s no entry fee, you will need to pay for sunbed rentals. The on-site restaurant and bar are also quite expensive. Overall, the beach’s limited space and high costs might outweigh its clear water and private feel.
