This is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. I live in Michigan and we have some amazing beaches. I've traveled all over Florida, southern California, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and along the east coast of the US. This beach beats anything I have seen. I will dream about this beach.
Can’t believe this is in Ireland. Warmest North Atlantic water ever. Such a beautiful beach and drive there and back. Some roads are super narrow use caution.
This is the most beautiful beach I've seen in Ireland. Yellow sand, not gray, not shells, and not rocks. Wonderful yellow sand and warm ocean water. I'll definitely come back here again.
The graveyard is a beautiful thing to see. Public restroom, lifeguards and free to use beach games and toys for kids. Not many parking spots, the there are staff members here to help you find a spot. Highly recommend. Beware of jellyfish, they are many in the water.
A fantastic beach along the Ring Of Kerry ~ Stunning views & great walking trails 👣 😀 👍
Beautiful sandy beach, crystal clear water. Spectacular views especially at sunset.
One of the best beaches I have ever visited - bright blue waters, sandy beaches, rocks you can wander out on, and fairly well protected from the wind. Not too busy either!
A huge and beautiful beach, with some calmer areas for entering the water if you want.

I wasn’t expecting such a unique experience at this OPW site. We sat through the 20-minute movie on the history of the home, and I highly recommend doing so if you can. The grounds are beautiful as well as the home. Well worth stopping if you have the time!
March '25, cold and sunny day, the house was fresh. Due to on going works only 3 rooms open to the public. Each room has good explanations of the exhibits there in. I was reminded of history lessons of many moons ago. The carriage was a surprise.
Wonderful visit. The house is lovely with the furnishings, artifacts, displays, and video telling the history and story of Daniel O’Connell, but even if you have no interest in history you can thoroughly enjoy the building, period furnishings, and grounds. There are excellent gardens, a nice cafe tea house, and it’s basically right on Derrynane beach just over an elevation. I was generally familiar with O’Connell’s political role as the “Great Liberator” but it was interesting to learn more about his career as a successful barrister and his family history. Given how remote the house is by road in the era of cars it’s hard to imagine how the house was an active social scene and place of business back in the day.
Very nice historical site. Beautiful structures and gardens surrounding the area. On narrow roads getting there and back are a little tough.
If in the area of Caherdaniel this is a must visit. A well laid out museum to Daniel O'Connell in the house where he lived. Note that as of May 2025 some rooms are undergoing renovations and are not open to public. Entry to rooms that are open is free however. Nice cafe there and interesting walks around the house including a fairy trail. Derrynane beach is a short walk away and is stunning.
A lovely place to visit. Very accessible and gave a great feeling about what made the hose and location so special for Daniel O'Connell.
Wonderful historical home. Beautiful location. Interesting history.
Lovely old house, video of Daniel O'Connell's life, coffee shop, great variety of walks in the grounds, including a short path to the beach and all free of charge.

The best place for a horse ride. Breathtakingly beautiful beach, dunes, mountains and surrounding landscapes. Really a wonderful place for a trek, even worth it on a grey foggy day. Horses are lovely, quiet and well trained, ready for a good canter if the rider is able. One of few places open all year long for outdoors riding.
I recommend this place, I had so much fun! In 60 minutes ride we went to a sandy bay close to the Derrynane Beach. Those who had the skills could canter, those who didn't - were just trotting. At one point we went to the grassy elevated area from where we could see the ocean. I wish we could go to the actual beach, I suppose we didn't, because of the beach-goers who are not very happy with horse poop on their golden sands :) the group was big (11 horses) and two instructors were very attentive (especially Aileen - did I remember the name correctly?). The horses are well taken care of and well trained. The equipment (saddles) could be in a better shape, but I was given helmet and boots that were really okay.
Great Trek! My girlfriend and I loved it. Went through hilly areas and the beach. Horses were well behaved, we were given the opportunity to Trot quite a few times in our hour journey. The Host and her daughter were fun and nice to talk and swap stories (as we come from Los Angeles). Would definitely go again
My brother and I had an absolutely fantastic time riding here! I wish I could rate this more than five stars, it was that good! When we were planning our vacation we were not originally going to go horseback riding because the weather looked like it was going to be bad. So literally the day before we ended up going, I called and asked if we could squeak a ride in, and there was no problem at all with it! I would have totally understood if they didn't want to, since it was just the two of us, and with such short notice. The ride itself was absolutely amazing - the scenery and the whole area was gorgeous. We were able to trot and canter for much farther than I had expected to be able to - most places either won't let you do that at all or just for a very short distance. Here, they seemed to genuinely try to make the ride enjoyable for the riders' skill level. I have never had as much fun on a trail ride before anywhere that I didn't either own the horse or personally know the owners. And as if this wasn't enough, the price for the ride was literally half that of nearly everyone else I looked at in the area! I cannot recommend Eagle Rock enough! If you are driving the Ring of Kerry and like horseback riding, definitely give them a shout - but probably do it sooner than the day before you go... ;-)
Wonderful experience ! in amazing scenery, to ride on the beach was such a treat . my daughters are experienced riders love the chance to trot , while myself & my husband as inexperienced went gently. Smiles all round 😊 Caroline was a perfect host & full of local info & history with beautiful horses . Highly recommend, s highlight of our trip . Thank you 💕
Very enjoyable ride on the beach and around the dunes. Very friendly staff and lovely horses. For experienced riders, you won't be challenged but you will have fun. For beginners, you will be well looked after.
A super Stables just off Kerry Way on the Lamb Head Peninsula. Offering 1 hour rides mainly on Derrynane beach. Very friendly, lovely mix of horses. Great cantering opportunities on firm sand. Recommend a visit. The rides are tide dependant so pre-booking is essential.
Best horse trekking experience ever for me and my 2 boys. Spectacular views- Lovely horses and very friendly staff. We'll definitely go again next year. Thanks so much

A great place to visit with great food, friendly staff and beautiful views. Great pint of Guinness and probably the best seafood I've ever had. Would recommend sea food platter and Chowder. I had the platter twice one day after another.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 We stopped at O’Carroll’s Cove during our Ring of Kerry road trip, and it was one of the highlights of our journey! The location is absolutely stunning — a beautiful beach with crystal-clear turquoise water that makes you feel like you’re in the Mediterranean, not Ireland. The restaurant is cozy with a great seaside vibe, and the food was delicious. We had fresh seafood and burgers, and everything was cooked perfectly. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick even though it was busy. It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the view, grab a bite, and maybe even dip your feet in the water. Don’t miss this gem if you’re driving the Ring of Kerry — it’s a little slice of paradise on the Irish coast!
We were needing lunch along the Ring of Kerry and had read mostly good reviews of this restaurant and a few bad ones but thought we’d try it out. The food was good. We’ve had better seafood chowder. The service though, was awful. Our waitress wouldn’t even look at us or talk to us. She also disappeared for a long time and never asked us if we needed anything. We would’ve liked ketchup but she never even made eye contact with us to ask for some. After taking our order, she didn’t speak to us, she brought our check and ran our card and didn’t say a word. The food took a long time to come but that was fine, it was made to order. Just be wary eating here, you could have a good experience with the right waiter. Overall, very dissatisfied due to the service.
What a great find!!! Everything was awesome: the food, the staff, the atmosphere, and the views!! Just a heads up, the staff all work together, you will not have the same waiter or waitress but they did an amazing job keeping our drinks full and giving us prompt service!
Amazing views of the sea from the tables indoor. The chowder was great and had lots of fish in it. Very tasty food overall and visibly made with dedication.
Great restaurant, with fabulous views and very friendly staff. I had the chowder and local mussels and my wife had the fish and chips which were both delicious. OK price wise, very popular venue.
My family and I have been going here for 3 or 5 years now , since we have been camping in wave crest the campsite beside this restaurant and camping area . The service has changed to always being rushed and we are always told before we head to our seats that we need the table back at this time . This cuts the mood , the food has been good but not up until this year the food for me on the menu hasn’t changed. You want something to catch you off guard like a sensation that’s bursting with flavour in your mouth that will make you hungry for more . The food is bland and tastes the same , they don’t add new flavours or experiment with new textures . The atmosphere is what you expect from a pub , everyone is lively and having fun with each other while drinking a pint or two . The service is poor there’s not that many staff there when you want to ask for something and if you did ask for something it would be a while until they get back to you .
Only had a pint of Guinness and a dessert. Dessert was fabulous, chocolate brownie but wasn't too heavy. Just perfect. Guinness was exceptional.

Loved it. Took us 45 min to find all the Fairy houses, the 4 year old was thrilled. Thanks for providing such a magical experience <3
- this is not a theme park for people wondering - It is a small forest trail near Derrynane Beach. There are small fairy houses hidden in trees, under rocks or anywhere on the trail. The trail itself is really nice in summer and really nice for kids, but we enjoyed it too. If you expect an attraction don't go here, if you're in the area and just want to take a walk and look for tiny fairy houses then do.
The former reviewer was correct. Please never go here. The views and hiking were terrible and the people weren’t at all friendly. It was all a snore. My daughter loved it but she is only 9 so she doesn’t really know good things.
We loved it, this place is magical! The tiny houses on the ways are so cute and made with love. Also the big garden ist beautiful, so many exotic plants, we would definitely recommend it!
Unfortunately it was vandalised. Don’t know when they will reopen it. It’s really sad, an amazing experience destroyed by people with no ethics at all.
Fun stop with the kids
(Translated by Google) Can't understand the other reviews. We went there with our child - it was absolutely magical. A great activity for the little ones to discover tons of fairy houses in the forest at the end of our hike (we probably saw 30+) and then reward themselves with an ice cream on site :)!
(Translated by Google) A one-of-a-kind experience combining a beautiful walk with an unusual glimpse of a fairytale in the fairy forest, a special experience to take with small children. (Original) Esperienza unica nel suo genere unisce una bella passeggiata ad un insolita immagine di una favola nel bosco delle fate cosa speciale per andare con piccoli bimbi.

Mussels in white wine - sauce is so well balanced, and mussels are small but plump and so full of the taste of the sea. The batter of the fish and chips is so well prepared, and the fish is the thickest i have had. It was really good! The seafood chowder was loaded with plenty of fish and mussels, and every spoon had sufficient bite. The chowder itself was very well flavoured, and certainly makes a good appetizer. The servers were all friendly, prompt, and the food were served very promptly. Great place to dine!
The best food in our three days in Ireland so far. My starters came after the entrees, but they were worth the wait. The mussels were delicious, the sauce became the dip for my family's french fries. The goat cheese salad was also really good. The salmon was tasty and cooked well, the sauce complimented the salmon well. My daughter says her pasta was really good. The cups were also the best we've had in Ireland, so far.
I liked a lot about this place but they had no lobster (the wrong season apparently). The food portions are fair, but I was really hungry so was left wanting after finishing my meal. Probably for the best since I did find the food delicious, bigger portions would have had me eat myself into obesity. About half of the food on offer is deep fried, but it is a pub.
Fun family friendly and fair prices. Food was excellent. Servers kept you well informed. Lots of tables in a true Irish Pub. Even the owner comes around and checks in. When I return to Waterville, I will definitely eat again and suggest it to my traveling friends. It was greeting seeing small children eating at the tables next to older folks and everyone having a good time.
Great tasting food! We were a bit confused at first when we came in as we saw a buffet style display on one end but it was later clarified what it was and how best to order. Location is in a perfect spot and kids were able to run around the beach/rock area afterwards to get out some energy. Seafood delicacy indeed and you cant go wrong here especially if hungry!
This was a welcome stop for a group hungry after touring the Ring of Kerry. Sunday roast was amazing, as were the fish and chips! Service was great and drinks cold.
Please note their kitchen is not open at least until 3.30 pm and specials like lobsters only starts from 5. So if you going early there for a brunch or lunch please note it. We tried the fish and chips, sweet potatoes, chicken wings and beef burger, but they were all just Okay. Not the best but not bad.
This restaurant is brilliant for family or friend gatherings, my family and I have been going here for a few years. It has amazing views of the sea and the mountains surrounding Waterville and restaurant has outdoor seating if you want to look at the amazing view. The service is wonderful we had lovely and amazing people serving us, the time waiting for the food wasn’t along time, we got the food in good time . I go the rack of lamb and my mum got the sole , the presentation of the food is what you expect from a good restaurant, the lamb was just cooked right it was juicy and tender and it was seasoned well with the sauce , my mums dish , the fish was cooked very nicely , the fish was garnished with capers . Overall we left the restaurant with a good review and we will be coming back again next year .
