Made a hike here from Cabra motorhome Aire. The building began in 1260, linked to the appearance of the Virgin. The first historical record in which the sanctuary that is preserved is named in 1396. It underwent a major modification and extension in 1591, giving it most of its current appearance. The last major renovation was carried out in 2007, renewing the roofs of the entire sanctuary, and refurbishing the church using local marble. During the same restoration, the viewing platform was improved with a stone map of the views and the floor. Inside the church are carvings of Saint Ferdinand, considered the patron and founder of the sanctuary, and of Saint Anne, a work from 1742 by the sculptor Cecilio Antonio Franco Roldán. To the left in the nave there is a modern image of the crucified Christ called Cristo del Picacho, made of varnished wood in its colour, with four nails, carved by Miguel Arjona in 1980. In 2013 the image of Saint Augustine was added, a work by the Cordoban José Antonio Cabello Montilla. Various pilgrimages are held each year during the spring, and every 4th of September at 4pm, during the local fair, the traditional "Bajá" or transfer of the Virgin from the hermitage to the neighbouring city of Cabra takes place, where she will remain for a month in the church of the Assumption and Angels until her return to the hermitage.

After the winding road up and down you will find the church/sanctuary, the "miracle" cave, several viewpoints, a picnic area with public services, two free parking areas. It also has a bar, but it was closed. I have also visited it upstairs but I have not been able to see the rooms because they were closed, but in the hallway you can see very beautiful antique furniture. (Translated by Google) The best place ever!!!! And that was it. A completely unforgettable experience. We ordered half an eggplant with honey and black rice with cuttlefish, shrimp, and aioli. We had to ask for plates so we could eat the eggplant because they didn't bring them. Then the rice arrived, and we had to wait a long time for a serving spoon. Up to that point, well, it could have been passable. The worst part was when we started eating, the rice was completely cold and there was no cuttlefish in it; it was chunks of raw squid, and the shrimp were the same. My wife and I had to spit it out. We told the waitress, and she apologized several times, although it's not her fault. She offered to remake it if we wanted, but that it would take about 20 minutes. So, if they prepared it immediately, it should have come piping hot. The kitchen staffer should be ashamed of themselves. Lack of professionalism in the kitchen. First and last time. We paid for what we consumed and had to go eat somewhere else, so you can imagine the level of frustration you feel when you leave that place.

(Translated by Google) It was closed, it is almost always closed. We asked tourism for the hours and they told us that the priest opens whenever he really wants. This revolts me, I will complain to the bishopric of Córdoba even if it is of no use. They could leave the key in the tourism office and so we could see the heritage that belongs to everyone. We travel 1,000 km to see these towns and most things are closed. Then they will complain that they don't have tourism!! There was nothing open in Cabra. I won't come back. It's what they deserve! And closed churches are unacceptable when they have a certain relevance as in this case. In another life, I ask myself to be a priest of this town! No volveré.

(Translated by Google) Curious totally baroque church that preserves the air of the mosque that was before 1240, due to the four rows of columns of (fake) red Cabra marble, which delimit five naves. Inside are Catholic images in two and three dimensions, many of which are paraded through the streets of this town, where processions are organized each and every day of Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. . I point out two altars that display a very politically incorrect painting and sculpture. The painting shows Saints Cosmas and Damian, a white surgical patient and the recent corpse of a sub-Saharan man. The skilled surgeons have given a black, but healthy, leg to the light-skinned patient, and have attached the affected and excess limb of the operated one to the stump resulting from the black involuntary donor, who had died a short time before. At the top of another altar, Santiago, dressed as an elegant knight on a stark white horse, exterminates the Moors with his merciless saber. There are thousands of Santiagos Matamoros and Santos Cosmes y Damianes spread across churches and museums in Spanish territory. What do we do with these fantastic images? Can there be anyone who believes that the past can be changed by eliminating its traces in the present?

Amazing nature. Really lovely place. Great restaurant at the central square.
Some stunning vistas, especially near Zuheros. If you want to do walks other than the Via Verde i recommend getting proper maps as the directions on the tourist maps are not accurate enough.
Lovely area for trekking, mountain biking. Good weather in general, but in winter can get really cold if not sunny. Lots of ammonite fossils. Great for children.
Beautiful natural park. Perfect for biking and hiking.
Fantastic cycling with wonderful views and great weather.
Disappointing that nothing was ope and no park attendants to be found and gates were all Locked but views remained breath taking and we enjoyed the day and visiting the magnificent towns and the food and hospitality, Party of. 6 adults staying at Brazos Abiertos. Iznajah. From England. U. K.

(Translated by Google) I see, from another previous review from last year, that after a year they haven't had a chance to repair the air conditioning or the elevator (the building consists of a ground floor, two upper floors, and a basement). We wanted to see the museum itself and also see the specimens from the "Jurassic Goat" center (which is no longer located in the building listed on Google. According to information we received, it has been partially relocated here). There was air conditioning in the reception area, where the only staff were, but not on the two upper floors, and in the middle of July, we were horribly hot. Our interest in the Natural Sciences alone prompted us to visit those two floors, but we didn't spend enough time and were very uncomfortable. I also emphasize that those of us who went were elderly, with some mobility issues and a higher risk of dehydration. Last year's review, along with what has happened to us now, suggests that it may be because there aren't enough visitors in the summer, and the electricity costs for air conditioning and the elevator aren't worth it. I can't say for sure that this is the cause, but it seems that way. I think this information might be useful to those planning to visit the museum.

This is a wonderful wee museum! Just the right size, not overwhelming but still full of tremendous artefacts from tiny finger rings in cases to huge Roman mosaics mounted on the walls so they are easy to see. All the periods of local history are covered, with examples of found objects of everyday life that really make you connect with the folk who have been here before us...long, long before us. There is even a little dark area where a film about the local caves is shown, with sound effects to give some sense of what they were like. The items are very well explained in Spanish and there is a wee robot that can accompany you, but we didn't try that out! You will find some marvellous statuary, including the best Iberian lion I have seen so far and a couple of touching small Roman sculptures of young children. Add to this the delightful and helpful staff and you have a great place to visit: don't miss it!
Displays of artifacts found locally from paleolithic to Roman. Well presented. Most interesting is the Mithraeum reconstructed after Mithraic finds were made at the Villa Mitra, a recently excavated site nearby. Unfortunately most information is in Spanish only.
Small town centre museum, very well presented displays from Neolithic to roman times. Life size replica of temple of Mithras. Several roman mosaics, all patterns except one that is of tigers.
Small museum with some really good Roman mosaics and many small objects like arrow heads, jewellery and ceramics

Lovely park! Huge and very clean. An hour drive from Cordoba and our kids had a great time. There is a cafe as well and the prices are very reasonable.
Fun place for children of all ages. Offers beautiful views of the castle
We went because the website online states there are sandwiches and food. None to be found apart from sweets and crisps. Park was fun but the website needs updating
Best place for parents (and children love it too)! A place surrounded by a high fence full of toys for all age and in the middle there is a shady terrace for you with tapped beer and tapas to overwatch the little ones.
Fabulous place for kids of all ages. Free entry. Parking available not too far away and a nice kiosk to have a drink, snack or Ice cream. Clean toilets.
Massive playground, free. Great to spend 2h with kids
Great place hidden in a small city. Huge trampoline. Full of different activities. Worth a stop.
Very nice place for kids

Closed on Mondays but looked amazing. Incredible history.
(Translated by Google) Essential visit. You cannot leave Cabra without having taken the guided tour of the castle. It was one of the best guided tours I have ever attended. The person who accompanied us made it enjoyable and interesting. It is clear that he is vocational and that he likes his work. A 10 for her. How he tells the story of the Castle, of Cabra, how he answers our questions, chapó. An Egrabense and a Basque, with love. (Original) Visita imprescindible.
(Translated by Google) Nazareth's guided tour of Cabra Castle and its surroundings was fantastic. A great connoisseur of the history, legends, and artistic heritage of Cabra and its surroundings, Nazareth explained why there is a reproduction of El Cid's Tizona in the town, how a castle ended up being converted into a school, and showed us the surprising interior of the keep. Highly recommended. We took the tour on a Sunday at 12:00.
(Translated by Google) It is worth visiting. To enter you must reserve a place and go with a guided group. Currently, part of it is used as a school, but it maintains many things from the old palace. The round room, the most different of all, reminds us of an Arab room, with inscriptions, stained glass windows, arches and furniture typical of that area.

(Translated by Google) The castle was closed. There are no specific opening hours anywhere, no signs, and no one knows how to get in. There's no phone number to call, and the tourist office was also closed. It's a shame that something so emblematic in the town is closed, making it difficult for people who want to visit. (Translated by Google) I have read some reviews with which I totally disagree, since as a long-time customer of the Subbetica Taxi, I do not believe in a cocky attitude on the part of the driver, he is a quite responsible, punctual and pleasant man. It always lends itself to all services and also from my point of view it gives a service of 10.
