A step back in time to a castle steeped in history. Sean, the owner has spent his life restoring the castle bit by bit. It was a shame I'd had car trouble that day, causing me to arrive only 30 mins prior to closure at 5:00. Do contact Sean in advance as a courtesy before you arrive, as it is their family home, as well as Castle. See the many videos there on You Tube about Leap Castle in advance, so you'll be somewhat aware of the history of this special place. Contact Sean by email. His contact address is on the official website, where you'll also find even further info about the Castle.
One of the most haunted castles in Europe with a dark history. It was nice to be able to walk through and see how the owner Sean has kept it over the last 20+ years. A must see!
This is a drive up castle to get out and take pictures. I do not belive you can go inside the castle. Someone does live there. It is a nice castle.
If your in to true history of castles, this may be a small one but the old guy who owns it lives there! He tells a good history story, hands you a flashlight and allows you to go up the narrow dark stairs to check it out. Must see. €6 to walk through but ring the doorbell first. A lot of artifacts to check out. Not for kids or people with small space anxiety.
A beautiful and authentic Irish castle full of history. Sean, the owner, bought the castle a few years ago and knows everything about its past. He welcomes visitors warmly and encourages you to explore every corner. The €6 entry fee helps with restoration, which is a great cause. Visiting feels personal and real, not commercial. A perfect stop if you want to experience traditional Ireland and support local heritage.
Amazing castle ruin being refurbished by a true Irishman. The host was full of great historical information and even played the whistle for us. One of the best stops on our trip! Make sure you bring cash for the $6 suggested donation.
5 stars expérience. Sean was a great host and sharing is knowledge about the castle history was really interesting to listen to to. Visiting the castle was also impressive since he as done all the restoration by himself. Just make sure you knock at the door of the castle on arrival since the ring bell ain’t working.
My grandaughter wanted to experience 'the most haunted castle in Ireland' . It's in a beautiful location & has an interesting story, as well as some lovely antiques in a partially restored castle

A truly exceptional day out. We traveled from London and haven’t had this much fun in ages. It was so good it’s hard to know where to start. There are trails for all skills levels, the blue jumps trail is particularly fun for beginners and intermediate riders. The army truck runs every 15 mins and collects you from the bottom of the trails (they all finish in the same place) and takes you and your bike to the trail heads. Or you can take the much harder (but very worthwhile) endurance climb to the top under your own steam. The views from the farm, particularly at the top are great. There were several people walking and relaxing while their families were riding. The cafe is great and sells very tasty goodies to keep you going. The mechanic’s shop excellent. You can use the equipment to resolve minor issues. I was amazed that the mechanic was able to repair a loose spoke and true my wheel by eye in less than 5 mins - an issue I thought was going to scupper my afternoon. In short - you have to go! This place is great. Enjoyed it so much we’re going to try and get another trip in before we go back to the UK. If that fails, we’re certain to make it the next time we’re on the right side of the Irish Sea.
Super place to go Mountain Biking. Ive been twice and both times I was met with super service!! Brilliant runs, efficient uplift, great food, great shower and bathroom facilities, great bike wash and delicious burgers for lunch. I'll be certainly returning.
Fantastic fun. Bring your own bike or hire one on site. Everything you need in one place for a great days mountain biking - toilets, showers, cafe, bike hire, camping.
Someone who often comes here recommended this place to me and I was definitely not disappointed! Good bikes, nice routes and gorgeous vista's!
Without a doubt the best day out in munster.. The staff are incredible, approachable, friendly and bend over backwards to make your day go well. The trails are well maintained and absolutely brilliant for people of all skill levels... The cafe us unreal .. food is amazing coffee is great and the price is very reasonable... More than anything there is an amazing community built up that's encouraging and it's great to see kids flying around on bikes. Visit you wont be disappointed. 🤘🤘
Amazing place. Really friendly, helpful staff. Trails are amazing and the uplift just completes the whole package. I'll be back over and over again.
Just finished our 1st time at Bike Park Ireland and had a great time. The staff are super helpful, food was excellent from the onsite cafe and not expensive. Changing rooms etc were clean and whole place was well maintained. Will def be back again soon to master the blue jumps run. Had a crack at the red jumps and the new black which was good but tough with its off camber rooted sections. Really worth travelling to go to. Gonna get a jersey soon too.
Great place, well run and well set up. Facilities are all brilliant from the uplift service to the trails, toilets and showers. Café is great with top notch food and friendly staff. Would highly recommend for a visit!

Such an eerie place but beautiful all the same. The history of it's origins are a tad spooky for women and it's superstitions are a thing of the past and yet I'm oddly drawn to visit this place multiple times each visit to Ireland Oddly I fell in love with the scenery the second I laid eyes on it. It's a magical place.
A stunning location with loads to explore. You can explore the interior where you will find a large tomb, some stunning crosses, with access to the roof and a fantastic old ruin in charming surroundings. Parking is at the farm gate
A true hidden gem of Tipperary, this is something experienced by few tourists. Originally on a lake, this has since been drained and the "island" can now be walked to. Legend had it that no woman could live on the island, while no man could ever die there. The Monastery dates from the 6th century, and makes Roscrea among the oldest inland towns in Ireland. Graffiti present on the trees (which are also among the oldest in the country) show a history of tourism dating back centuries.
Lovely wee spot to visit 💚 use the lane opposite the house
Quaint little "island" ruins in a pastoral setting. Access is difficult by car so recommend parking at the entrance road and walking.
Kevin from Ballaghmoore castle told us to check this place out. Beautiful and quiet!
Beautiful isolated Abbey totally off the beaten track. Peaceful and quiet. If you don't specifically look for it you'll miss it.
This place is beautiful. It's completely open to explore. There's even a stairs to nowhere...or the roof. I'm not sure! It's a short walk across a field, but the cows are great company! There's a sense of silent history here, which allows you to imagine the Abbey as a crannog surrounded by water. The land around it was drained in the 18th century, leaving it as the bog it is now. I absolutely loved our visit here.

Very beautiful place I can just recommend I speak German but English prayers are very cool Nerver heard an English prayer I can just recommend trying it out.
A beautiful location with loads to explore, some lovley walks to enjoy too. It has excellent parking is spotless and well kept, the small cemetery is unique, then onto exploring the large church and have a nice walk around the grounds. Its a location that is well worth a visit, cheers
Our visit to the Abbey was relaxing and peaceful. We greatly enjoyed the many walking trails and water features. Prayers and song by the monks were spiritually uplifting. The cathedral is beautiful and worth the visit on its own.
The best surprise and Free. Park and walk. Saint Joseph’s Monastery has beautiful walks where you can even bring your dog. A stunning weeping willow stands beside a man-made stream, built in layers. From there, you can follow the esker path lined with oak trees, cross a little bridge, and either continue down another route or linger in the open field. On the way back, take the slightly hilly path for lovely views of the poplars. It leads you back to the car park, right beside the prayer area. Along the way we met older people enjoying their health walk, and even one gentleman making the journey with a crutch.
Beautiful place for a retreat. The nature around is very soothing and greatly enhances meditative/contemplative state. The food is healthy and very nutritious as the room was clean all inclusive and overlooking the main church which was beautiful. Highly recommended: A+++++
very peaceful. church worth a visit for the Harry Clarke stained glass windows. beautiful walks on the grounds.
Such a lovely place, perfect for everyday walks and relaxing

This place is lovely and nice i can’t wait to visit again
water - ice. during the last visits the water in the pools and in the shower was ice cold. we are a family of 3 people - we paid, in 5 minutes we froze and left.Friends have noticed this too. Are there really no standards where the water temperature would be indicated? If your water heater doesn't work, why do you open up and take money from people?
Was in the pool with my two girls and while I was taking one to toilet, my other girl had a wardrobe malfunction. There was a male lifeguard there and he saw me holding my daughters swimsuit and came straight over to help, then got me pins and the pool has swimsuits which he and another girl got me one and reassured me that my youngest would be ok as he would watch as the older one got dressed into new suit and then after all the commotion, he saw my eldest was distressed about the slide so he brought her over to it and let her on. As I was paying on the way out for the swimsuit, the girl that brought the new swimsuit and the person on reception were so nice about it. Excellent staff and the centre should be very proud of all them. 👏
Excellent swimming pool, probably the best one in tipperary, great for small kids
Nice place, with nice staff. They try to help you in any case. Avarage prices, wide selection of training equipments (from the treadmills some of them does not handle well the incrise of hight), indoor bikes, lifting weights, rower's seat, step machines and etc. Has a separate team classroom for spinning class, smaller weights, free exercises and etc. two swimming pools one for children. Swimming caps are obligations to wear in the swimming pools. Sauna and steam rooms are nice touch. Lockers at the swimming pool are working with 2€ coins and 🔐 what you can put around your wrist. Plenty showers and changing rooms are available with hot and cold water at the swimming pool and there are dry changing rooms with showers and toilet next to the gym. Place is clean, heated, vented, sometimes a bit too steam in the gym obvious reason. They have 3 or 4 🎾 courts. Daily combined (gym and swimming) for adult is 13€. Weekend membership is 25€. Nice altogether.
Great resource for Roscrea and the surrounding communities. Can be very busy at times with pool parties but if you are flexible about that and where you go in the pool you will have a great time. Water slide, sauna, steam room, 2 kids pools and a gym, as well as a party area. Local people are good natured, friendly and chatty. I have been taking my kids there for well over 10 years now and we love it.
Lovely facilty but very busy
Negative review: the toddler pool should be for toddlers last time we were there there was a group of kids about 12 years + jumping and rough playing from the learner pool to the toddler pool, leaping in off the sides nothing was said to them by lifeguards or parents, and another issue I have is adults using the sauna come out and sit in the kids pool everytime I’ve been there this has happened. It is a lovely facility with the separate pools but think there should rules in place,

Quite nice just walking around the grounds
A beautiful location to visit with the round tower and the large cross. Also across the road is a lovely church and cemetery which made it a joy to explore and capture all it has to offer. It has good parking which is always a bonus, cheers
The Black Mill is a beautifully maintained and welcoming place. A special mention goes to the extremely kind gentleman at the reception, who made us feel very welcome and was happy to answer any questions. The building is thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind, including a lift for people with disabilities, which is a big plus and shows consideration for all visitors. Overall, it's a lovely and inclusive place to stop by — clean, friendly, and full of character. Highly recommended!
Should be open to the public, I attend this amenity for local singing sessions.... this is a lovely place and promoted better.
An 18th century mill that has been converted into an interpretive center for the Round Tower and Church Gable that are the remains of the ancient monastery of Saint Cronan around which the town grew. The ticket for here also entitles you to a tour of the nearby Castle and Damer House, and vice-versa. The guides provide information on the monastery and mill. Inside the now glass fronted building is the 10th century high cross, a replica stands across the road, along with the Roscrea pillar.
We visited during heritage week for a weaving workshop. Great venue for workshops and other small events.
when the black Mills are open great for tourists Can be very interesting if you are into history And religious artifacts
Interesting place but rather small. Ticket includes tour of the castle up the road which is more interesting.

One of the nicest looking bars in the town. Always good craic on a weekend, with live music. Sometimes have quizzes or other events on during the week. Chilled out place, popular with locals.
Had one night thing there. Love the bar tender 4ever.
Best food in all of Roscrea. The owner of the restaurant/pub is the most gracious and humble of all of the county. She whips up not only local favs but travelers homelike comfort foods. Please visit this local fair you won't regret it! Blues brothers would've definitely agreed! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Friendly staff great atmosphere good value
Great place cannot fault the staff Oftentimes has live music like someone playing a guitar Great way to spend the night
Excellent brilliant service and staff thanks to Tara and Paul Great to see you all happy happy Halloween from me and marie and the brown family 👪cheers 🍻and good luck to both 😀
Great lively pub. Staff friendly and professional. Highly recommend a visit. Good music every weekend
Initially sold me as I was driving past with what seemed to be The Blues Brothers on top. Came in on a slow mid-week afternoon but the atmosphere was still comfortable and staff was friendly.

Great little shopping centre in heart of town. Lovely coffee shop/restaurant with delicious fresh buns, cakes, etc. Also has a great Regatta store in there, a beauty salon, barbers, medical center, doctors, pharmacy, couple of tech stores and a Euro shop. Room for pop up stores too.
Spacious yet compact. A few empty units but a lovely on site cafe. No on site public parking on for disabled. On site public toilets but up stairs so restricted access. Clean and tidy with nice public seating areas.
Lovely shops and facilities here.
Well, it's a shopping centre. There's not much in it but it's all we have here in Roscrea. The parking is great as everyone has been saying and the food is great also. Mary was very kind to me when she gave me my soup? <3 <3 <3
It's in good location good access for all keeped very clean lovely place to have a bite to eat shops that are there are good value could do with a few more retailers
This shopping centre is a nice little cosy one. It's small but has all you want under the one roof, there is even a lovely restaurant with beautiful food. The staff are excellent and very helpful.
Lovely place just basic small shopping centre
