Steep river gorge with a panoramic road & railway outfitted with dramatic bridges & tunnels.

This bridge is about 20 minutes away from the train station in Andermatt. You will have to cross a tunnel (short one though) to reach the bridge...and it is fantastic! There is also a Monument (Suworow) very close to the bridge. The people into rock climbing also have the chance to do so in the area. Pristine waters, nature and high mountains make it an awesome place to visit!
Very nice hike that is easy to get to from Andermatt. We walked down the path to the pretty bridge at the bottom (all downhill). Then walked back up and then cut into the tunnels to check out the other side of the river. It’s cool to watch the people doing the via Ferrata (near the start of the trail). Easy-ish hike/walk and very pretty scenery.
Historic site with several attractions like Devil’s Bridge, Suvorow bar, Russian monument. Great views, close to Andermatt, easy hiking.

Oberalp Pass (Alpsu) – A Scenic Alpine Connection The Oberalp Pass, also known as Alpsu, sits 2,044 meters above sea level, linking the Swiss cantons of Graubünden and Uri between Disentis and Andermatt. This high mountain pass is a stunning route through rugged nature, perfect for hiking or driving while enjoying breathtaking views of the Alps. In winter, it transforms into a fantastic ski area, although it may be closed during bad weather. From the pass, you can hike to the source of the Rhine in about two hours, making it a rewarding destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
Try this beautiful viewpoint by The Glacier Express. It has a stop here and you can take advantage of the view
A Perfect pass with a number od hiking and cycling paths. Wonderful views. Parking od for 5 CHF for a one day.
We passed this pass in March and it was frozen. Filled with a huge blanket of snow. Wonderful to see.
Amazing views at the top and along the way. This is not a hike for beginners and definitely pack light if you are going to different lodges or go slower if you are carrying a lot of weight. Main complaint is the markers don’t say the distance to the next location because they are marked by time. Everyone is at a different pace so the time markers don’t really help people gauge how much progress they have made and how much they have left.
Whichever direction you decide to drive from the road and views are breathtaking. An old school drivers road.
Switzerland is a stunningly beautiful country known for its breathtaking landscapes, charming cities, and pristine natural beauty. Here are some of the most beautiful aspects of Switzerland: Alpine Scenery: Switzerland is famous for its majestic Alps, which offer some of the most breathtaking mountain views in the world. The Swiss Alps provide endless opportunities for hiking, skiing, and mountaineering, with iconic peaks like the Matterhorn and Eiger. Crystal-Clear Lakes: Switzerland is home to numerous pristine lakes, such as Lake Geneva, Lake Lucerne, and Lake Constance. The combination of crystal-clear waters and the surrounding mountain scenery creates picturesque settings for relaxation and water-based activities. Swiss Villages: The country is dotted with charming alpine villages and towns like Zermatt, Interlaken, and Grindelwald. These villages are known for their picturesque architecture, flower-filled balconies, and a peaceful atmosphere.
One of the most breathtaking places to visit. Too bad we didn't spend much time there because we were on the Glacier Express (St. Moritz to Brig).

Staying at Basecamp was an amazing experience. Larz (owner) and his family were an incredible host and provided everything I needed to ski after my bag was lost by the airlines. The Basecamp is right on the ski slope, it is a true ski in, ski out hostel. I thoroughly enjoy my stay and can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend staying here.
Had a fun comfortable stay with Lars, Maarje and family. Perfect place to enjoy a snowy ski season in Andermatt if you don’t mind hiking or skiing to your accommodations.
Stayed here for a few days in December and had an incredible time. Lars is a gracious host and maintains a beautiful property with the best ski access I’ve found. The house is literally on the slope and very close to the gondola/lift. If you want to ski in Andermatt, look no further. I really appreciated the vibe and culture of the place that Lars cultivates. When I was there, most of the other guests were repeat customers, some of whom have stayed there 10+ times. That should tell you everything you need to know.
Basecamp was incredible! Lars was awesome and super friendly, perfect location, and super clean kitchen and bathrooms. Super quick access to the town and the gondola! This was by far the best hostel I have ever stayed in, could not have asked for anything better. The room was super clean and very spacious. Comfortable bed and clean sheets.
Doesn’t feel like a hostel but rather a 4 star accomodation. Only downside is that access is only by a 200m walk up the slope (no stairs) which is challenging if you do not have the shoes or desire. Ski in ski out isn’t that beneficial because there are only gondolas at the bottom which negates the benefit of the ski in ski out. Really great service too. Cats and dog roam around which is adorable. Very warm inside. For the price it is incredible.
Wonderful ski in ski out lodge. Clean, comfortable and in a fantastic location. The host family are very friendly and give excellent advice about the town, the skiiing or any other questions you may have. Met some great people here and had a fantastic time. The kitchen is large and well equipped making it easy to cook your own meals and the sauna is amazing after a long day of skiing. Really can't recommend this place enough for a ski vacation.
I spent a week at Basecamp in Feb 2020. It was the perfect place to stay for my solo first time trip to the Alps. The atmosphere at this hostel is fantastic. The amenities are high quality and shared well with all the guests. The other guests were extremely friendly and really added to my overall experience. Price was very reasonable. The location is great with an awesome view of the city and great ski in, ski out proximity to the lift. There is no road that leads directly to the hostel so getting there with heavy luggage can prove a challenge but it’s totally worth it once you arrive. I plan on going back someday.
Excellent Experience staying at Basecamp Andermatt, the hosts are friendly, accommodating, and helpful with recommendations. We had an excellent time meeting other guests who were staying there as well. The sauna, hot tub were excellent bonuses on top of the spacious kitchen, dining room, and living room areas. Can't recommend Basecamp Andermatt enough, and will certainly be back.

One of the best courses in Switzerland. Greenkeepers do an amazing job considering the short season. Excellent conditions, top greens. Tough but scorable with no wind...
Good course. I've played a handful of times, most recently mid-July 2025. It's alpine, but surprisingly wide and flat. There's a couple of short par 4's that are tight as they go up the side of the mountain, but otherwise it's fairly straightforward. Tee boxes and fairways were in good condition, the greens were good but a bit slow. Scenery is wonderful, but quite bare, reminds me of Scotland in places. The weather can be surprising. The times I have played it's been windy with no let up, I felt a bit battered by the end of the round. And this time the weather was poor, lots of light rain and quite windy, the temperature dropped to 10 degrees and felt very cold. The staff were nice and friendly at the reception and also on the course. The ranger even gave my friends a quick lesson on the practice chipping green, which was super nice, never seen that before in Switzerland. The main disappointment was our late tee time of 1600. Originally, my friend called the course to check tee times and we booked at 0824. Perfect- morning golf, lunch, afternoon hike, then restaurant for dinner. So we all planned around this, time off work, family schedules, and our fancy dinner reservation. A few days later they call back and tell my friend there is a tournament that day! Ok, no worries, its not great but mistakes happen. We agree to the re-booking at 1600, but with the hope that we can get on earlier as tournaments often book too many tee times to play safe. So on the day, we are repeatedly asking them when the touranment ends and when we can play. I was on the practice area and watching the tourament groups go out, the last was not much after lunchtime, and by 1500 I couldn't see anyone on the course (they had a split start on 1st & 10th, and easy to see all dressed in red). So I think we could have easily played after that last group, maybe at 1330, then had plenty of time to get back, drink, shower and have dinner at 1900. So making us wait and extra 2.5 hours seemed quite mean. It meant we had to play in more rain than if we started early, the light was going by the end of the round, and it wiped out our dinner plans. We had to have a snack dinner at 2100 and then got gently nudged out of there as it was 2230, all the other diners had gone and the staff wanted to close up, which is fair. And to add to that our round was interrupted by groundsmen, trimming stuff on the 1st tee box, watering the 2nd green, etc, etc! I'm have no idea why the course manager didn't let us play early, especially as the original mistake was there's, but making us wait so long and play late at 1600 didn't seem very fair to me.
This is the most beautiful golf course I've ever played at. The conditions were amazing. The greens were fast. The views are breathtaking. And best of all, the staff were friendly and took care of us! Highly recommended!
Best course in this climate conditions I have seen so far. Greens firm and fast. Details like bunkers tee boxes are top. It's worth the money
e breathtaking views surrounding the golf course. The overall condition and maintenance of the bunkers, fairways, and greens is commendable, rating a solid 7/10. The main area for improvement is the pace of the greens, which is currently slow; otherwise, it would have earned a higher rating.
Great high alpine golf course, challenging for good players and enjoyable for the less advanced ones as well. The conditioning, considering the altitude, is among the best I've played. Very nice practice facilities, a must play for any golf enthusiast.
Hotel Chedi is top BUT the golf-house doesn't belong to it anymore. Having said that, the whole golf-area with all little roads is prohibited to walk through, no matter if the golf-club is open or not. So this nicely advertised nature is only accessible to some old men. As a occasional golf-player and frequent Chedi visitor I strongly disagree with this elitarian approach, no-go to the power of 2. This fantastic landscape should be open to all.

Andermatt is a village in the Ursern Valley in the Swiss Alps. A cable car offers access to Gemsstock ski area and a chairlift links the village with Nätschen's gentler slopes. To Andermatt’s north, the path leading to Devil’s Bridge, which spans the sheer gorge of Schöllenenschlucht, is one of many trails. The village’s narrow streets are lined with traditional chalets, one housing the folk museum, Talmuseum Ursern.

I had my second time ever ski experience supervised by excellent instructor Mr Michael. His maturity and well understanding made me fearless and try the slopes for the first time in only couple of sessions. I can’t wait to come back and continue my sessions. Hope to see you expand to another cities. Wish you all the best guys!!
Thanks for Mathias coaching during the 2024 session. Very professional coaching through the 2-hours course. It did not go too hard or too easy, just the very essential tips for beginners. great experience for me and my lady for the first ski. Additionally. Very good English for international tourists.
Hi Peter and team, our week spent in Andermatt skiing was such a seamless experience!! May I highly recommend Gyorgy to anyone looking for skiing or snowboarding. He is superb instructor, excellent connection with my boys. We had an amazing 5 private lessons with him, besides being flexible and patience, he is also very skilful and knowledgeable. Thank you so much Gyorgy if you read this. Take care and we will miss you very much!
I spontaneously had an hour's ski lesson with Martin from Alpine Sports Andermatt and am SO thankful to him. He was fantastic and spotted immediately several things I was doing wrong (I've just come back to skiing after a 20-year break...). He helped me to fix them with some drills, advised me competently on ski length/hire and was very patient, relaxed and supportive. The Alpine Sports ski school itself was also very flexible, helping to arrange payment remotely without any trouble. I understand it's a very international school with lots of ski instructors who speak different languages (Martin's English was perfect). I will definitely book another longer lesson when I go back to Andermatt in a couple of weeks. Many thanks!
Cannot recommend Peter and his team enough. your wish is their commend…. They have set us up with everything from transport to/from the airport to ski lessons for our young daughters and an instructor to keep me company and help me with my form when my husband would rather go to the spa than ski that day. This is our 3rd time in Andermatt and a trip here is not complete without their help. Peter and his team are so friendly and they take great care in setting up the right instructors for the individual. Our girls (5 & 7) couldn’t not have been in better hands with their instructors, they were skiing on their own and with confidence in no time. booking next year asap!
Phenomenal experience with Peter, Mayta, Natalie and team. We were about to give up on skiing in Andermatt since only some of the slopes were open, happened to stop in at Alpine Sports and Peter immediately put us at ease. His team was excellent and provided a full-service experience. Mayta and Natalie were our instructors and they were nothing short of amazing, helping us every step along the way. Outstanding instruction, and gave us follow ups to practice on to help improve our skills over the long-term.
Great experience from start to finish. Our instructor Asmus was excellent at teaching and encouraging beginner skiers (AKA 3x Bridget Jones’ 🤪). We also learnt great tips to traverse tricky terrain. Thankyou! We will be back again.
Brilliant. Took three nervous beginner skiers and turned them into skiers capable of coming down the mountain in a week. Friendly, patient, capable, always early to the lesson, and always prepared to help out with skis and getting the kids back to hotel afterwards. I could not recommend these people more highly. We are coming back next year, chiefly because of this excellent ski school.

It makes one realised he is in another world upon entering this very old building. There are at least fifteen rooms which reflect different areas of interest ranging on the early pioneers' tremendous efforts, the living atmosphere with very basic utensils, the dangers they faced with the avalanches, the beginning of tourism and the skiing sports beginning. A small ancient beautiful house can store many interesting items till the third floor and the attic. A comprehensive tour would take an hour plus. It is opened in the evenings from 4-6pm. Adult fee is only CHF9 and children CHF5. This visit makes me appreciative of the struggles and effort done to make this place such a beautiful and scenic place.
(Translated by Google) Talmuseum - judging by the photo, this is a historical house in which Suvorov stayed for a while during his Alpine campaign. The house is one of (if not the) oldest in Andermatt and the surrounding area. The interiors and furniture of that time have been carefully preserved. There is a bed on which the commander slept (or could have slept). Suspiciously small in size)). But overall everything is very interesting and informative. 2 floors are dedicated to the history of the campaign. There are artifacts. The mood of the museum and its very presence in such a well-groomed form leave an extremely pleasant impression. Easy to find. If you enter Andermatt from the direction of Brig, it will be on the right in the direction of travel in the depths of the cour d'honneur with parking for cars. Excellent service again with friendly drivers. Our experience was entirely positive.
I had a great experience with Pearl Shuttle Service. They responded promptly to my query. Reasonable rates. Excellent service! Michal was communicative, on time and drove us from Zurich Airport to Andermatt in a clean, comfortable car. I would definitely recommend them.
We can’t thank Michal enough for being our airport hero during our trip to Andermatt. Not only was he professional, punctual, and super courteous, but he also tolerated our questionable sense of humour with saint-like patience. Someone really should give this man a medal. He even made scenic stops along the way so we could snap photos and pretend we were in a Swiss tourism commercial. Honestly, by the end of the ride, we didn’t just feel like passengers. We felt like we’d made a new friend. Pearl Shuttle isn’t just a ride from point A to B. It’s part of the whole travel experience. Highly highly recommend. Ask for Michal if you want your trip to start and end on a high note. Dave Walker
We called Pearl service recommended to us by the Tourism Dept in Andermatt right next to the station. We spoke to Michal a day earlier from our pick up and he quickly quoted us a reasonable price and we confirmed almost immediately. He was super sweet and on time to our pick up from Andermatt to Lucerne Burgenstock. The car was clean and comfortable and he even offered us refreshments. Highly recommend. Thank you !

The Suworow Monument is undoubtedly an impressive and historically significant site. It stands as a reminder of the past and is an excellent location for those interested in history and culture. However, I find the large-scale tours from Russian-speaking countries somewhat overwhelming and not entirely in line with my personal preferences. While I may not fully agree with the influx of such tourism, I appreciate the monument’s role in preserving and showcasing an important piece of history. It’s a remarkable spot worth visiting, both for its historical value and its picturesque surroundings.
An impressive monument carved into the rock that honors the 18th-century Russian military leader Alexander Suvorov. Lately, the memorial has been subjected to paint attacks in protest of the Ukraine conflict. PS: Make sure to also visit the adjacent Devil's Bridge!
The Suvorov Monument in Switzerland is a powerful tribute to the bravery and strategic genius of General Alexander Suvorov. Located in a picturesque setting, the monument stands as a reminder of the historic Alpine crossing during the Napoleonic Wars. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking, with the rugged mountains providing a dramatic backdrop. The monument itself is well-maintained and the plaques offer insightful information about Suvorov’s campaign.
Excellent place, full of history. Parking is limited and can be paid by either coins or using app.
One of the foremost generals in all of military history, and considered the greatest military commander in Russian history, Suvorov has been compared to Napoleon in military generalship. Undefeated, he has been described as the best general Republican France ever fought, and noted as "one of those rare generals who were consistently successful despite suffering from considerable disadvantages." Suvorov was also admired by his soldiers throughout his whole military life, and was respected for his honest service and truthfulness. An incredible monument right next to a -ferrata- climb and a breath taking view. Swiss military ways and bunkers become visible at the attent observer.
This monument honors Alexander Suvorov, a Russian military who is considered a hero by many. In 1799-1800 he crossed the Alps in order to join the Russian forces already in Switzerland and help drive the French out. Unfortunately I can't read Cyrillic characters but if you can, I have posted a photo! This monument is within walking distance from the Devil's Bridge so you can visit two interesting places in one trip.
Super cool historical venue. Be careful with the infamous Gotthard tunnel traffic jam. It is the largest traffic jam you probably can experience in Europe.
Monumental place. Picturesque views.
