We had an incredible experience in November and saw so so many dolphins. We didn’t get to see any whales but instead spotted a super rare leatherback turtle and sharks in a distance. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and let you know that their whale spotters did not spot any whales but did see dolphins so you could make a choice whether or not to take the tour! It was honestly so magical to be so close to the wildlife.
Excellent center, amazing team, all really careful with their clients but also with the nature and animals. A specific briefing is given in small groups, with detailed informations about the animals. All the staff is kind, and know a lot about the whales and dolphins. They are also into research projects that reinforce the sustainable side. We did a whale watching, swimming with dolphin and 4 costal dives. I’ve seen stingrays in all my dives and different types of whales and dolphins. I definitely recommend this particular center for all these aquatics activities! Thank you to all the team 🤙🐋
We can’t say enough good things about this tour - we did not book ahead (definitely book ahead!) but were able to snag the last two spots on their 5pm outing and we are so glad we did!! The staff were incredible and we were able to see so many whales! It was an experience we will never forget! CE Azores are so experienced and respectful of the whales, but also made sure we all had the most opportunities to see the whales. 10/10 !
We did whale watching and snorkeling with dolphins and were incredibly lucky with the animals - what an experience! The guides were fantastic and very caring when some people got seasick. They also provide free drybags as well as water- and windproof jackets, which was super convenient. Communication beforehand and the booking process were also super easy and reliable. Highly recommended!
Wish we made it out, the weather and whale's did not play nice. The safety review and team onsite were very helpful. No guarantee you will head out, they only go if you will see a whale which is better than a wet useless boat ride.
Nice experience with the snorkeling with dolphins. Even though we needed to wait for 60+ min before departing due to difficult to spot dolphin family, we managed to snorkel with baby dolphin and family! Exciting adventure and kuddos to Simon and skipper!
Highly recommended company! We did a morning whale watching tour and saw loads of sperm whales and dolphins! The staff were really knowledgeable and passionate about the animals and had their welfare in mind as well as ours. Our dolphin snorkelling trip was cancelled due to lack of sightings. We were refunded for this and really appreciated the company being so honest with us! We will definitely use this company again next time we are in Pico!
Swimming with dolphins! We were taken to a huge super pod of Atlantic spotted dolphins and got to swim/ snorkel with them 4 times. They were literally everywhere! Skipper/ team were super helpful, giving advice where to locate as many of them as possible one you went into the water. Such a joyful experience!

They keep spots open early in the morning for walk ups that arrive before 6am. Make a reservation if you can but weather can change rapidly.
You have to have either reservation or pay at the cash desk. As we came it seemed to to booked out and only possible way we found that was to book tour guide that was for about 80 euros per person. As we called in the mornings the mountain house we found out that there are a plenty of places to go. They check your shoes and I definitely recommend you to take hiking shoes. The way up there is quite rocky, but the view at least to the crater is definitely worthy, if you’re lucky enough you’ll enjoy the view of the islands, too.
I’m a 22 year old girl and I decided to go with a group and a guide to climb Mount Pico. My profession is a personal trainer and I strength and endurance train 5-6 days a week. My mountain guide was claiming I was too slow and I needed to catch up. Meanwhile the guide was so far in front of the group and would not bother to wait. Sure it was tiring but I was mainly “slow” because I was watching my next step. I don’t think you can force people to go faster on a climb that they’ve NEVER done before. Especially a climb where is promoted to be careful. My guides name was Marco Silva and did not feel safe or supported by him. He told me that I should stay behind if I couldn’t keep up and he left me on the mountain ALONE. I was scared because I was on this volcano by myself with no knowledge of getting down. There is NO trail it’s all loose rock. Not the best experience. I got down by following a father and a son.
The mountain/volcano is definitely one of the highlights of the Azores. Even if you have to pay €25 per person, it is worth making the climb. Important: Hiking boots are required, otherwise you will not be allowed through at the reception. It is also advisable to have at least a long-sleeved top with you on warm days (and ideally also a windbreaker as a jacket), as the wind is very cool at the top. A car is recommended to get to the parking lot, as there is no bus service as far as I know. The ascent and descent takes about 6 hours, including a 30-minute break at the summit.
They would not let us hike up as we didn’t have the right shoes? Not kidding, while others walked in with similar footwear, they claimed our Nike’s didn’t have enough grip. Ridiculous.
Our trip yesterday was canceled in terms off very bad weather and there was no possibility for us to hike on the next day. The Pico hike was our planned highlight. Maybe in the future it is possible to climb on the next day if you booked a ticket.
This is where the climb to Mt. Pico starts. Friendly staff will brief you and give a GPS device in case in get lost. They will also produce you a "certificate" upon your return. Please note that one must reserve their hike in advance. The staff won't do it for you and, since there's no mobile internet up there, you won't be able to reserve your hike on using your phone. So, make the reservation BEFORE showing up. The hike itself is short but steep and for the most part there will be no well defined trail, so one will need to figure out the best route from one post to another. The descent is harder and takes longer, so make sure you have enough time. Other than that, it's pretty straightforward and suitable for most healthy adults. Also, pack some warmer clothes as it gets colder once you get past 2k.
Lovely ascent, a bit of a scramble and reaching the smaller peak at the top was a challenge. We climbed on a fairly clear day, and were able to see the marked trail posts easily. There was no real trail, and many variations to how you could climb up. The terrain was mostly solid rock but did in parts have very loose gravel/shale which made the descent very difficult and unpleasant in part. We didn’t have hiking poles so they could be helpful in the descent. Views were spectacular, you did go above the clouds but could still see some island on our day of hike. The Mountain house was simple but did it’s job. They gave you a GPS tracker and the two men behind reception were very helpful in a briefing about what to expect. Plenty of parking available and the drive up could be done in a small car (watch out for cows). You need to book in advance on their website as there are limited spaces in each time slot, and it cost about €25 each.

Great place to get a taste of the local varieties and try some of the well known labels. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and guided us through an exploration journey of the local varieties. We learned a lot about Pico and its wines as well as possible pairings. Better make a reservation beforehand as it can get busy and also a bit noisy.
We came with best intentions to do a wine tasting and learn about their wines. Unfortunately staff was unfriendly and didn’t seem interested in hosting us. I was telling we would rather skip the red wine but would like to try a certain white from their portfolio to complete the lineup, but this was refused. I understand that 20€ for tasting 3 wines is local standard and I am always happy to support wineries and pay this price, even though it’s beyond international standards. I would just expect a little flexibility and customer orientation in this case. The opposite was the case: We have never been treated with this level of indifference at a winery. So in the end we decided not to do a tasting and skip this winery for good.
This isn’t your usual winery tour and tasting, you’re literally going to be ushered into a small room with a load of strangers and given some vinegary wines by a gruff woman who doesn’t really seem to want to be at work or know much about wines. Don’t do the cheeseboard, it’s overpriced and it’ll just be shoved on the table so you’ll have to eat it whilst everyone else watches you.
The tasting is very good. The server is nice, takes the time to answer questions, the wines are very interesting, it's something you don't find in France. In truth, you have to go there even if for my taste the tasting is a bit expensive. The downside is the reception. You arrive and no one comes to see you, you have to run after it a bit and you don't understand how it works. There is the tasting and then you also see a kind of place where you can eat / drink but I still don't understand how you can go there.
We had the most wonderful experience at the Pico Island Wine Cooperative thanks to Ana. Despite our very last-minute request, she graciously accommodated us for a wine tasting and welcomed our young family with warmth and patience. Ana is incredibly knowledgeable — she shared not only exceptional wines with us but also deep insights into the unique viticulture and history of Pico. Her passion was infectious, and she went above and beyond to make the experience engaging, educational, and relaxed. It was a true highlight of our trip, and we left with a much deeper appreciation for Pico wines. Thank you, Ana!
Nice experience and a very competent guide that explains all aspects of tasted wines. On the other hand - quite high prices and a bit of organisational chaos. We stood at the bar instead of taking a seat, but the staff took care of us very well.
Halo, Guten Tag Picowines I am super happy because I have made a degustation in there with a young girl. She was really nice to receive us at last minute and my parents were really happy that they could try some Wine. She had answered all our questions and even another lady joined and told us a story about the way they used to do wine in there. I seen also a lot of the previous comments, and let me tell you guys that the Team was great and very nice, possibly we not talking about same people here.. The favorite wine of my parents was Lajhido, a sweet one and mine was Rola Pipa recommend by the girl that made us the tasting and it was just great. Got a bottle with me indeed and I'll try get more online for sure We are from the Netherlands and we want to come back next year looking for a wine that is at the lava caves according to Fellipa. Thanks for receiving us 😄 Best regards, Joshua Marks
Good experience. We hat the tasting of 9 wines. It was great and the price of 25 Eur totally okay. The wines are great and we can recommend it.

Good Specialized road bikes. No issues during the week. Good communication. Very friendly owner. Essential for us to get around without any cars available!
Good scooter, checkin/checkout efficient. Convenient because Right in front of the ferry terminal. Just don’t expect a friendly warm welcome nor a smile from the owner. 33€/day in high season best booking it in advance
Fair prices and scooter is in great, new quality. Staff is super nice. However the helmets are very limited available and most of them do not have a wind shield, which is bad with the lot of rain and bugs
Had a pleasant experience with Pico447. The owner was really helpful showing us the best routes. The scooters of Pico447 are in good condition and really good to use around the island perhaps better than A car in good weather conditions.
Scooter was brand new. The owner gave us a lot of tips and tours to make in the island. I recommend.
Excellent service and scooters in good condition. Very affordable too. The scooters are very well suited for the discovery of Pico and Faial.
The scooters are good but the lady helping us was not really helping and not welcoming.
Very Good Service and very Good prices. When you need a bike or scotter, you will be here on a right place.
