Not really sure how someone could rate this less than 5 stars. We came here to start our self guided 1066 tour as this makes sense chronologically. We purchased the overseas 9 day pass, so this castle was included. There is magic in the walls. So much history, too much to write about. I recommend reading up on the history before you come, it will be more interesting. The WW2 touch is simply amazing. Centuries of history live in these walls. If you are not into history, the walk alone is very nice. I highly recommend giving yourself about 2 hours. We took a short drive down to the coast to take a picture at the “spot” that the Normans landed (yes I know, that spot has been reclaimed by the sea, but still, use your imagination). Car park around the corner within walking distance and an overflow lot for a fee.
Went there as somewhere different for a dog walk. There were no restrictions on where we could go. Great place to see some English history, and how it has been involved during centuries of history.
What a great place to visit. Having lived in Aussex all my life and driven past the castle, I always thought the walls you see was the castle itself. What a surprise we had when walking through the arch. It's well worth a visit.
Very nice castle. The grounds are quite large and free to visit with some information boards, so great for dogs. It is rare, at least in my experience, to see rounded Roman walls, which was then built upon after 1066. The keep you need to pay for, a touch bare but nothing an audio guide can't fix, and there are a few rooms with exhibitions for extra viewing. Don't forget the dungeon.
A great place to visit. The outer walls built by the Romans, The castle built by William the conquerer and still used during ww2. access to all areas, audio guide and dogs allowed. Parking close by with spaces for motorhomes.
Just a short visit to Pevensey Castle, trying to fit a lot into our day. After first visiting Battle Abbey, another English Heritage site, it was only a short drive down to Pevensey & like Battle Abbey, Pevensey is well worth a visit. We were fortunate to have lovely weather for both our visits.
Amazing castle with lots of layers of history. The kind lady in the shop was extremely knowledgeable which made the experience so much more enjoyable.
Once a roman fort, later a norman castle and on the end WWII stronghold. Lots to explore and on top of it it's a dog friendly place.

It's much quieter here than Eastbourne, when the tide is low quite sandy too.
It may not have a pier or attractions, but this was a peaceful pebbled beach with historical significance as it is where the Normans landed in 1066.
A very peaceful beach without the noise of tourists. Excellent facilities such as a large pay and display car park, 10 huge litter bins with proper handles to stop the seagulls pulling out litter. 5 unisex toilets, 2 disabled toilets, one with a changing room and a shower unit. So peaceful, you could hear a pin drop. The waves, when the tide was in, were a joy to listen to.
Great stone beach , good size great for a walk, dogs are allowed , shame no bonfire permitted. Nice and clean.
The best. Never found it over crowded. Has car parking and facilities adjacent to the beach. 2 minutes to high Street for a great bakers/cafe plus other establishments all good including fish and chips or general store other food outlets. Love it there. Always worth checking the times of tides. Low Tide revealing miles of sand. HI tide will mean you need to move to the top of the pebble beach. Very popular with dog walkers especially at low tide. Enjoy.
By far , my favourite beach, the beach car park is expensive though, especially if you just want to park for 2 or 3 hours as it's £5.00 minimum for hours!
Nice shingle beach on the south coast (sand at low tide). Great pub on the seafront (Aqua Bar) ideal for a few beers and a meal overlooking the beach.
It can get very busy as it's a small seaside village, car park is right next to the beach with toilets, a good place for family, no amusements but has cafes the beach is the place to be

This is a pub on the beach, what's not to like? (See the moonlit beach video). Staff are down to earth and friendly, food is good but basic, views are fantastic and there's (paid) parking nearby. It can be a bit windy even on a warm day (but I'm not one for sitting outside in the UK , so I might be a bit biased) but the view makes it worthwhile. The venue is also available to hire for events. They provide a buffet service, though the one I saw was somewhat small and very limited in variety for the £500 price tag (I see a lot of hotel buffets at my events, and this was not on a par with those for value). Hence the lower food score, the pub grub was nice but the buffet wasnt great value. Staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful all evening, and the atmosphere was great. Despite it being a beautiful night outside, the ambience keep everyone in the party. It's hard to find, as Google navigation will take you to a dead end back alley behind the venue (which as I found is too small to turn a medium sized van in). Instead, aim for the public car park and walk the last 100m.
Great location but lacking the charm and character of a typical pub.
Good food, affordable prices, good quantity of food, lovely views. they gave us some free roast potatoes, staff were very friendly and seems very family friendly
The fish and chips looked amazing, and i was told it was blooming marvellous. Being gluten-free i could not eat it. Lovely staff great place to meet the family
Brilliant pub, had great food and everyone chats to each other and lionesses won ⚽
What an amazing pub! Clean and modern inside and out but still individual and charming. Lovely bar staff, great food and choices of drinks. They have a really nice garden that literally extends onto the beach!!
Lovely place, lovely staff, and lovely atmosphere
On holiday popped in 3 times, had lunch twice with drinks and drinks in the evening another night all with my family. Can't fault the food or the bar, however found my car blocked in the car park. After asking around, it appeared to belong to the attached accommodation. I knocked on the door and asked if they owned the car and could they move it PLEASE. An obnoxious beaded man appeared accused me of being rude, I explained the car was blocking in 3 vehicles. He subsequently took his time moving the vehicle, fiddling about with dog baskets and then a dog while smiling at me!!. I am a man of little patience and my wife was holding me from getting out of my car and confronting the man. When he did move the car the owner of the bar appeared too. Not a word from him. Sadly my money will be spent elsewhere while l complete my holiday and by my family who are following me down next week will not be visiting the bar. Families that spend money on food and drinks with no budget are in short supply and should be looked after. Not short of £250 was spent by me in 3 visits.

Really cool little gaol and museum, lots of boards with facts and history...very interesting history in the cells!
Lovely and interesting little gem. Free to visit. This place is run by volunteers and there was a lovely man there when we went. Loads of items there with lots of information. Definitely worth a visit.
Small but beautifully formed museum with many items and displays. Covers the significant major historic actions which shaped English and French history, also local, smaller occurrences that are also of interest.
Great place, small but very informative. Lots to see, you will love it if you enjoy history, fascinating and free.
Great little museum, fascinating exhibits, some natural history finds and plenty of local history, open bank Holidays too.
It's free to get in. It's small but has so much history. It's a bit scary downstairs where the jail rooms are, but worth going. The volunteer had so much to say about the history of the building.
Tiny museum on the high street, full of interesting history. The museum is based on the first floor with some really interesting papers, pictures and displays from the area. On the ground floor there are two prison cells showing life of the time.
Little museum with interesting local law court history

Popped in for a meal and pint, Unfortunately there was no food available that day .Very helpful staff a couple of bags of crisps an a great pint saved the visit. Good selection of ales .Dog friendly .
Fab fab place. Staff super. Atmosphere superb. Lovely people and wonderful mix of different age groups who make this place perfect. One of the best pubs in the Eastbourne area. Love it.
My first time here. Deric spotted it on What pub. Up to three real ales. I had another Harvey's of Lewes Best bitter. Excellent. A U shaped pub around the central bar. A good sun trap rear beer garden. Two dart boards. A couple of TV's and a lovely real fire in the left side room. Live music venue. Definitely a community pub. Weekend food.
Quite a nice looking pub, located about halfway between Pevensey Castle and the station. The interior has been partially opened out into a U-shaped bar. Very friendly barmaid. Clean and neat restrooms. Love the ‘family garden’ that consists of some café style seating on a paved area that leads to some picnic tables on the lawn. There are also a few tables and chairs under a shelter that also houses a BBQ for sunny days.
Lovely solid local pub. Can’t comment on the food. Just a nice atmosphere and a good beer garden with a variety of seating. Support your local!
Came for a quiz, hadn't been before, really great atmosphere, staff were so friendly and accommodating. We played an unusual game of bingo, which was so much fun & is a regular Thursday evening feature. Great place to spend the evening.
Just moved to Westham and visited the Heron, we found it really friendly and welcoming. Great bar staff.
Brilliant local pub. Food very limited, but tasty. Welcome always abundant and genuine

Played here whilst staying at the bay view section of Pevensey bay holiday park. Literally a five minute walk from my caravan. Testy little course where you have to club down and play mid irons instead of your driver. Very friendly, especially Hannah, who runs the club house facilities. Perhaps the holiday park should offer a discount to holiday guests as they own the land it is on .
Fantastic Value for money. Perfect 9 hole course for a summers evening after work, short and easy course but still has Bunkers and a couple of holes long enough to get the driver out. Nets to warm up in, quaint but well kept clubhouse with everything you need in it and a friendly woman behind the counter. Grass on the greens very long but can't have everything.
Very nice 9 hole course, challenging enough for a novice like me. But not so overwhelming as to be intimidating. Friendly staff and a small but more than adequate reception/ clubhouse area. Would visit again 👍🏻
I have been coming here with my daughter for the last year and have had no issues, always been welcomed and she loves watching the golf. However today after being halfway through our round we were stopped and told we were not allowed on with our daughter. As we left we checked the websites rules which clearly states under 16s are allowed so we told the lady ,who might of been called Karen, that she was in fact allowed ,but rudely continued to make up excuses as to why she wasn’t allowed on the course ie as she wasn’t playing yet I told her there were multiple people walking round with their partners acting as caddy’s on the course, Also that we used a pram to which I told her trolleys are used on the course so what’s the difference to which she had no reply until she had the audacity to tell us "it’s just common sense to not bring a child” which was ridiculous as other children were there.we’re happily accepted and warmly welcomed at all the clubs in Eastbourne and other professional clubs around.
Good golf course for beginners! Well maintained for the price you pay! Affordable and good for quick 9 hole swings!
Lovely little golf course, well-kept and friendly staff nice quit location
This is a great place for golfers who have not been playing for long and need somewhere not too taxing to practice their craft. The staff are unfailingly friendly and the course is kept in good condition although the greens are slow and often a little fluffy. This is not a course for the accomplished golfer but for the beginner it is really excellent.
Staff always great And it’s a great little course

Beautiful country church dating back many centuries. Tranquil and peaceful ideal place to get in touch with the divine and your inner self
Beautiful and peaceful church. Kept very well and clearly is an integral part of the village.
Wonderful medieval church daring from 1216 still in its original form. Amazing to think that crusaders prayed here before departing for the Holy land. So much history. Well worth a visit.
Beautiful church
Lovely church next to the historic Pevensey castle in the heart of Pevensey village. Worth a short detour to visit if you are going to the castle and/or village museum
Fantastic historic church right next to a very important castle lots off history and beautiful place to be
A well maintained and still active Norman church that dates from the reign of King John. Worth looking in if you're visiting Pevensey Castle nearby
Wonderful Church. Kind, helpful staff. So peaceful! Perfect!
