We had a wonderful experience in Lapland with Aurora Service Tours. The cottages are warm and well equipped, the guide Andrew is friendly and experience with the cold outdoors. The scenery is so beautiful. We can choose which day activities to sign up for based on our interest. Best of all, we are at a very good location to view the Auroras, just dash out the moment we receive the alerts! Highly recommend!
The company offers a transport service to Lomatarrpi holiday village close to Utsjoki, as well as multiple activities such as snowmobile driving, husky sledging and snowshoe walking. In addition, someone will drive you around North Lapland and Norway to chase the cloud breaks to spot the aurora. Our experience with Canice was great, he has been a great driver and a pleasant companion for all our evenings! Even though we did not spot stunning auroras, we have really enjoyed the activities and sitting by the fire in the Finnish Kota for a chat and warm drinks. The only downside was the price, which seemed very high for what you get, but still in line with the rest of other aurora resorts or services.
Such a highlight of our trip to Finland! Tony runs a small but full-service Lapland tour in Utsjoksi, up in the north of the country, directly across the border from Norway. The location at nearly 70 degree north latitude means you’re more likely to see the Aurora Borealis (though it ultimately comes down to a combination of the magnetosphere activity, weather and some luck). The cabins were super cozy with washing machine, drying cabinet, dishwasher, fridge, showers, fireplace, and of course its own sauna. We stayed in their Asgaard B cottages which are their newest and come with the above amenities. We chose a 4 night stay and saw the Aurora every night except for the last when we got a pretty big snowstorm. Some nights we viewed the AB from a large viewing tower right near the cabins. Other nights, we drove as far as Norway to see them, even stopping off the side of the road when the Borealis presented itself. At times it came and went quickly but when the activity was strong, we watched for 20-25 minutes at a time! After being picked up from the airport (it’s about a 2+ hour drive up to the cabins), we were dropped off at a large grocery store to buy all the needed supplies for the week. We had 1 hour which is just enough to translate some Finnish product descriptions (outside the obvious fruits, veg, chips, etc). Tony and team (Ian was really great, super helpful and also friendly and always made us feel so welcomed) offered activities on all days (the husky rides, ice-fishing, ice fall snow shoe walking, snowmobiling and reindeer farm visit) can be purchased à la carte and paid same day. This means you can plan them relatively last minute and if you prefer to just walk around the forest or rest in the cabins you can. The tours also provided full snowsuits and the snowshoes if you needed. Lastly, there is a covered common smoke pit near the viewing tower where we grilled artic fish one night, we saw our neighbors making smores and other foods too. We had a great experience and would recommend them to anyone planning a trip up to see the Aurora Borealis!
We had an absolutely fantastic time in Utsjoki, Finland with Tony as our guide! He showed us the mesmerizing Northern Lights and led us on thrilling sleigh rides with adorable huskies and snowmobile adventures. Tony was incredibly informative, enlightening us about everything in Finland. It was worth every single cent! Definitely 5 stars for Tony's exceptional tour… 🫎sean & vivian 💫
Incredible week chasing the aurora in Utsjoki, north Finland. Very successful too thanks to the expert knowledge and driving skills of Darren and Tony. Lovely comfortable cottage too. Highly recommended.
Tony is an amazing aurora hunter and guide. 100% recommended. Do not hesitate. The picture speaks by itself.
Best Aurora tour of my life! These guys know their aurora's and calculate the best place to view from. I was literally blown away when a corona appeared over head and proceeded to surround us in beautiful curtains of colour. 100% recommend the whole team!
Darren was a brilliant tour guide! He made our family dream trip perfect if every way, nothing was an issue and he was so very knowledgeable but importantly he made it easy for us to understand and to get 3 nights of the northern lights was outstanding and for him to allow us extra time to see the lights in all their glory was the perfect ending. Would have no issue recommending Aurora for anyone to book them!! Thank you you legend Dazza!!!!

I travelled solo in September 2024 to celebrate my birthday and what a memorable trip it was! I made wonderful friends during my week stay; a combination of solo travellers, couples and friend groups - perfect for everyone! The food was amazing and all the finer details were covered. Tiina is a fabulous host! I'm not used to booking an all-inclusive trip, but boy did this experience completely change my mind on that! I didn't have to lift a finger and everything was organsied and ready to go. I really could just relax and enjoy! We saw wonderful autumn colours, dancing northern lights on multiple nights, and some cosy rain while I was warm inside my impeccably clean cabin. Fantastic included activities; things you definitely don't get to do in ordinary life. I could not fault Tiina, her team and the wonderful experience they have created at Aurora Holidays - I truly believe this is the best way to see the northern lights on a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Thank you!
Our trip with Aurora Holidays (Tina & Sonja) was absolutely magical! From the moment we landed at Ivalo Airport, we felt welcomed and taken care of. The cabins were modern and spacious, beautifully renovated, with private saunas. Tina and Sonja expertly planned our days based on our chosen activities and weather, allowing us to relax and enjoy a well-paced schedule. The meals were delicious and plentiful, the king crab was out of this world! What truly set this trip apart was the convenience. We didn't need to chase the Northern Lights; they danced right above our cabins! The views were breathtaking. Tina and Sonja's passion for their locally owned business shines through in every detail. They genuinely care about creating an unforgettable experience. Their personal touch made the trip feel authentic and special. Highly recommend Aurora Holidays for a truly unforgettable Arctic getaway.
8 of us friends went to Utsjoki(sept16-21) to spend a week with Aurora Holidays. From the time we were picked up in Ivalo to the time we were dropped off at the end of the stay.....it was magical. The atmosphere was very homely. The staff were always willing to help. The food was amazing. The young chef came up with some excellent , tasty dishes and never repeated the same dish again. The tours during the day were very enjoyable especially the King crab fishing expedition. Our Guides were outstanding. Tina, the owner is responsible for making it very enjoyable and comfortable. She is there for every event and she took some fantastic pictures of us under the Northern lights. We were lucky to see the lights 3 nights in a row. The autumn colors were and amazing. It was a very memorable trip and our heartfelt thanks to Tina and her team for making this so memorable. We want to go back there to experience the Polar nights
An unforgettable experience! We stopped by for a meal before seeing the Northern Lights and were warmly welcomed. The host was lovely, sharing stories about Finland and even showing us videos of reindeer races. The food was incredible—our reindeer and fish burgers were fresh, and full of flavor. And to top it off, we were treated to breathtaking views of the Northern Lights. A must-visit for a magical evening!
I spent a wonderful 5 nights with Tiina and her team at Aurora holidays this month. As a solo traveller with social anxiety, I could not have been happier with my experience. Tina’s place feels like home, and she has a way of making one feel comfortable and at ease. The cottages are very cosy and well equipped, the food was excellent (with dietary requirements well catered for) and the Aurora hunting was a dream come true. I also really loved feeding the reindeer and the day trip to Norway. Thanks Tiina, Sonja and Saara!
I vacationed with Aurora Holidays and had a fabulous time! I would LOVE to go back after Polar Nights is done though. Tiina, Sonja, Sarah and the rest of the team were wonderful. Sonja is incredibly knowledgeable and so funny!! My cabin was cozy and comfy, just wish we had a TV but my laptop/ipad worked just fine too. The food was delicious. The restaurant has a computer and camera watching for the Auroras at all times so we know when to head out. Thank you Tiina and crew for such a memorable experience. I’ll be back, promise!
What an amazing holiday with Tiina, Sonja, Sarah and the rest of the team who make Aurora Holidays a real home from home getaway. The lodge is spacious and warm with everything you need. The home cooked food is very tasty and plentiful and the included trips are well thought out and very enjoyable (especially the day trip to Norway- a dip in the sea is well worth the experience whilst you’re there). The lunch with king crab is also out of this world! We had clouds the first two nights of our stay so were a bit concerned we wouldn’t see the Northern Lights but we needn’t have worried as the third night they were out in force even though we had to drive a short distance to find them. The following night we were treated to a spectacular show right above our cabin and we were mesmerised for hours. Overall the holiday surpassed our expectations and we have recommended Aurora Holidays to all our family and friends. Thanks again to the team for making our bucket list trip so special.
Tiina and the team at Aurora Holidays in Utsjoki go above and beyond to ensure their guests have the holiday of a lifetime. The accommodation is spotless, the food is delicious and the Guides are extremely knowledgeable. We were fortunate enough to have stayed over New Year 2024 into 2025, and even experienced 2 x New Years as we had one in Finland, then Tiina drove us over the border into Norway (an hour behind) so we could Time Travel and have a 2nd New Years Eve celebration! Tiina supplied sparklers, a glass of fizz and some delicious snacks when we returned to our accommodation. A New Years Eve to remember for a very long time :) The day trips are well thought out and very reasonably priced. My husband and I experience Snow Shoeing, feeding Reindeer, a tour of the local village and Dog Sledding. I even had a dip in freezing cold Varangerfjord and the Artic Ocean.... ....and if all of this wasn't brilliant enough....we saw the stunning and beautiful Northern Lights every night of our holiday ! We LOVED our stay with Tiina and the team at Aurora Holidays and can't wait to go back again. 100 per cent recommend

This place was very beautiful and quiet. We only saw just couple of people during our hike. It took us couple of days to get to the waterfall and back, but the views were definitely worth it. However, you should come prepared if planning to stay over night.
Best hiking in Finland! Good cabins and excellent scenery.
Unbelievable beauty of the nature. Many different biotypes along the hiking route. A must go place for everybody hiking in Lapland.
Maybe the most beautiful National Park in Lapland!!!!
Beautiful and well marked trail. Camping places were clean and fully equipped. Each place had enough dry firewood and axe. Wading points had straps where to hold on. We were lucky and saw beautiful northern lights. It was a bit pity that midnight sky is not fully dark yet in the beginning of September.
Unfortunatelly the canyon area was closed already in April, but we could ski freely in the fell part of the strict nature preserve. That was just amazing, the freedom and the love of skiing is what makes winter to be the best season
The canyon hiking route is a bit crowded (visited in autumn) and has very challenging stairs and slopes. Waterfalls and water crossings make the route very nice and interesting.
There is Kevo trail (62.5km), but check out opening times during the year. Some areas can only be entered by foot a few months. The start in Suloja offers an all year long open short roundtrip along two lakes, which is only marked on OpenStreetMap - the information board only shows the long Kevo trail. It is relatively easy to walk and has multiple information points and lake view installations. The start in Kevo was closed in beginning of June, and it was seriously unwalkable due to tons of melting snow. OPENING TIMES ARE SERIOUS!
