Had a lovely walk up to bird sanctuary from the harbour. Staff at bird sanctuary very helpful. Got the bus back, this is a total rip off . For my wife and I and our 7 year old ant 4 year old it was £17 for 3 3/4 miles and the bus was falling apart.
A GEM OF A PLACE THAT NO ONE SHOULD MISS VISITING. I have visited Rathlin Island every year for more years than I care to remember. I've stayed overnight in the Manor House (though not since the renovation and new management took over) and at a number of guesthouse cottages. Rathlin has a wonderful relaxed ambiance to it, even in the rain. I suggest visiting in the summer months from April to September. The West Lighthouse and RSPB Seabird Centre are places not to be missed. If you are reasonably fit, walk the four miles (6.5 km) from Church Bay, where you get off the ferry, to the West Lighthouse, the terrain is reasonable, there's no rush and little traffic, save the puffin bus. That way you see more of the island and more chance of seeing Chough - rare corvids that have bred on the island. A second visit you should walk to the East and Rue Lighthouses, a wonderful ramble across the cliff tops for part of the journey and visit the place where King Robert the Bruce of Scotland hid following defeat to the English in 1306AD. A nature lovers paradise, there a lots of species to be seen resident and migrant on the island, don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for the Golden Hares and if you're into scuba diving, it is one of the best places across the UK and Ireland to dive. Remember to book your ferry early (online) and allow sufficient time to complete whatever activities you have planned - time, tide and the Rathlin Ferry wait for no man. Also check weather conditions, there are occasions earn the ferry has to be cancelled. As I said, a place not to be missed.
A treasure of the North Coast. My kids and I love it here. I run boat trips to the island and all my passengers enjoy seeing the Upside Down Lighthouse, the Puffins, and having a pint at McCuaig's Bar. I highly recommend a visit. Tim (Abháinn Cruises)
Visited and worked on the island quite a few times now! Great wee place for wildlife especially if youre lucky enough to see the dolphins and seals. Cant eait to try the new pods out
Short ferry crossing £12 return and took our bikes. There is a little bus collects from harbour to the RSPB lighthouse which i have done before but wanted to see other parts this time. What an adventure...tranquil and beautiful. Wild geese on the mini lochs & seals basking on the rocks. Really special. You could walk if on the island all day and i see there is a cycle hire also. This aerial photo i took is of the oldest lighthouse on the Scottish side where Robert the Bruce is said to have hidden in the cave below. Lovely day out.
Heart of wild life, charming harbour, friendly people always smiling. Place you have to visit on any Northern Ireland trip!
Beautiful Island Worth visit!
Beautiful island, be sure to spend at least a half day to take it all in or hike.

Stunning place to visit. Found the volunteer who helped me a really nice guy. Unfortunately I’m disabled so couldn’t make it down to see the puffins. I knew this beforehand but I still wanted to be there with my friend. Would have loved if the RSPB could provide a live feed to a screen inside the centre. Then those who can’t get down at least have some experience of all the birds.
We got a little sick on the ferry ride over, but I think it was worth it. The biggest draw is definitely the puffins; they’re very unique compared to most other seabirds and I really hadn’t seen anything like them. The staff here are friendly and helpful, pointing them out and giving more information about them. And the cliffs that they hang out on are gorgeous, too.
Rathlin is one of those places that must be seen while on the northern coast of Ireland. A real treat for lovers and amateurs of nature and birds. I highly recommend it. From the port to the lighthouse and the pufinks 4.5 miles, you can walk if you have more time or take a local bus that will take you there in about 15 minutes.
Beautiful experience to see puffins, fulmars, razorbills, Guillemots and kittiwakes and also to walk through the lighthouse and read the story of the Irish lights. The puffin bus was an experience in itself . Well worth a visit.
Such a great wee place to see lots of different sea birds, the upside down lighthouse is cool as well and there is information on it on all the different floors. You get amazing views from here as well and RSPB staff and volunteers are amazing, they had so much knowledge and were also very friendly and helpful.
Hundreds of thousands of guillemots nesting on these spectacular crags in season. Not many puffins this year. A return journey on the Puffin Bus from Church Bay costs £6. World class.
Fantastic place to visit if you want to see shore birds. Extremely informative volunteers and great views of thousands of birds.
Nice place but make sure you are there in the right season (May-July)if you hope to see Puffins 😂

A nice little information on Rathlin packed centre. The staff member was very helpful and pleasent. Upstairs has a collection of interesting island artefacts, downstairs collection of news articles over time, and a mock-up of a kitchen area from times gone by. Worth a visit but can be crowded at busy times due to its size
We arrived on the island with very bad weather. Terri, a very nice and friendly person, let us into the boathouse during her break. We found out a lot about her, the island and its people. The small exhibition was also very nice. It's definitely worth taking a look.
The most incredibly friendly and helpful woman working in the visitor centre went way out of her way to help us. Customer service at its best
Nice little information centre. The upstairs has a variety of display cases containing items from the island and a little gift shop area. The girl working there was helpful and happy to answer questions. Downstairs contained numerous posters giving a history of island and then there was posters detailing myths and legends regarding the island which I particularly liked. There was also a little mock up of a 1920's style kitchen I think it was. Also downstairs was a colouring area for kids. Got a couple of puffin teddy's for the kids in the gift shop and powdered smoked dulse which goes lovely in an omelette btw.
Lovely wee visitor centre, with very friendly and helpful staff (Theresa I think). Lots of history and artefacts and a lovely location at the end of the beach. Well worth a visit.
Fabulous venue showcasing the history of this wonderful location.
A peak into the rich history of the island
