The town is very impressive , there are stil monks living here. Go down, along the place where the monks washed their cloths, and have lunch in the hotel in the left. From there we did a walk to Yecla
I didn't even knew about the monastery and the gregorian chants of the monks. Learned that by chance. Still a nice experience withnessing that on my way to Sad Hill Cemetery.
Small monastery with a rich history. Guided visit by a monk.
A long way from anywhere, this great Benedictine pile towers over the village around it. The Gregorian chant is past its Grammy-winning glory days, but evening Vespers still attracts a good crowd in summertime. A highlight of the cloister visit is the renaissance-era pharmacy, complete with a huge copper still, stone mortar and pestle, and dozens of jars, vials, and pots for herbs and potions...straight out of Harry Potter!
Don't miss the hymns of the monks at 8pm in the summer and 7pm in the winter. Amen!😍👍🙏
Very very nice and interesting, beautiful, you breathe history.
Great monastery. Do attend the Gregorian chanted masses when visiting, check the timetables.
Beautiful and surreal town with fantastic views and restaurants

Great to visit this iconic site. It's a steady and steep climb from the town following the road to the cemetery, we were lucky it was a crisp January morning and not baking heat. Well worth the visit.
Sad Hill Cemetery is an unforgettable spot, especially for fans of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Standing in the middle of the circular graveyard, you can truly feel the cinematic magic and the weight of history. It’s a peaceful, surreal place that stirs up a lot of memories. That said, the road leading to the site is in rough shape it definitely needs some work. A place this iconic deserves better access so more people can visit and appreciate it safely and comfortably.
I've given this 5 stars because I loved the film "The Good The Bad and The Ugly" You can basically drive up to the area and park right next to the location of the Cemetery. Its well worth the effort and you can see they have worked hard to restore the area back to how it was for the film. If you want to watch how this was preserved there is a documentary called "Sad Hill Unearthed"
Sad Hill is movie history. Sergio Leone, Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef filmed the quintessential scene of The Good The Bad and The Ugly (Zwei glorreiche Halunken in German) here -- widely recognized as one of the greatest cinematic achievements in history, ranking highly in most best-of lists. Leone and composer Morricone turned the "triello" (the final, nearly neverending shootout) into something unreal, and Sad Hill is the "cemetery" at whose center this history-making took place. In 2016, on the occasion of the film's 50th anniversary, a group of local cineastes and volunteers restored the site, bringing it back to its original movie glory. Their work cannot be lauded and praised enough -- being there now is a true marvel, triggering rich thoughts and feelings of those who loved the film and it's director's work. If you are among those, a visit is highly recommended, regardless from where you are. And regardless what the outer conditions are -- "Sad Hill" will do its job come rain or shine. (I was there on a cold and wet day in March 2017... -- and more recently on a sunny and hot one ;-).)
One of the greatest if not the greatest climax in movie history was filmed here, come on. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I saw the documentary "Sad Hill unearthed" and the effort that was put in to revive this holy place should be the same effort to keep it that way. Please, keep it nice. 🙏🏻
As Western movies lover , I was able to visit Cemetario Hill, glad to visit and see this
It is recommended to approach from the village of Conteras, from where a gravel dirt road, accessible by car, leads to the cemetery. Worth a visit, an iconic place!
A must for spaghetti western fans. The road is a bit hard but the reward is great

(Translated by Google) A good plan to visit. By entering the "Living Museums" page you can book your visit and enter with a code. It is highly recommended. Although it appears closed on Google, we have been today (04/11/22) and we have entered without problem. Taking photos of the instruments is not allowed because they are private collections. There are very curious things from many parts of the world. (Original) Un buen plan para visitar. Entrando en la página de "Museos vivos" puedes reservar tu visita y entrar con un código. (Translated by Google) Unfortunately, second time I come from Madrid and it is closed. There is a QR code on the door, but tickets cannot be purchased using this code. No one is ever present. I have tried to solve it through the tourist information - it is not possible either. They only left the contact for the monastery, which has very reduced hours and, it seems, is not responsible for this museum either. I do not recommend because you cannot visit it and/or contact someone responsible. And remove the information sign: it does not correspond to the information.

(Translated by Google) The innovative self-managed way of visiting the museum is very good. The content is quite good since there are a lot of different musical instruments. I missed a bit of contextualization of what was shown in the history of music. (Original) Esta muy bien la innovadora forma autogestionada de visitar el museo.
