The power was down city wide today but Lucie and David were still more than willing to continue to do the tours and helped me with every question. With their assistance It was an amazing experience. Thank you both so much! Cheers!
You go by tour guides. In my case, t was just me and the guide was so kind and did everything in English. A must see, not spectacular place but the tour is enjoyable and you have a lot of information.
Very nice and enjoyable tour suitable for little children as well as adults. It is relatively short. The tower one can climb right next to it is also very nice and offers nice views.
The Beer Hall had closed early so we were unable to see inside after visiting the Hop Museum next door. Even phoning the number on the door was unanswered. Linking the two would be an improvement. However the the outside portal of the Hop Horologe is interesting with the clock circled by the signs of the Zodiac and pictures of the “hop year”. Others figures are festive beer drinkers, so time to move to the pub next door ...🍻🍻
Eliška and David were really nice and had a ton of knowledge to share ❤️
Funny place to learn something about hops, beatiful sightseeing from the top and friendly staff. Do a stop at the reastaurant, they have great beer and tasty food! And you can play chess there! ;)
Excellent tour on the history and uniqueness of Zatec hops
Super interesting and fun, the guide was great and it was very informative

I did not expect to spend 2 hours learning about hop production. The explanation of how and why of Bohemian hops was clear and fun. Even for two people who had no idea of the subject. We loved the machines, the photography, and that it was self guided - we could go at our own pace. We are not keen on heights and there are some cat walks, but there is route that goes around these (and they are not too scary). You should really make time to go, it is one of the best museums l have ever been too.
Zatec is in the heartland of the Saaz hop so this is an ideal place for this extensive overview and collection of equipment from the hop industry. On 3 levels of an old “Hop house” you can see the history of hops from the Middle Ages; hop breeding, farming and pathology; agriculture implements and farming methods ; hop cone treatment, drying and processing. The exhibit labels are also in English and the 6 page handout at the entrance explains the exhibits. It’s amazing the agriculture and industry behind one of beer’s key ingredients. Then go next door to the bar to taste...! 🍻😉👍
A 120 czk entry ticket is ridiculously overpriced for that establishment. 25 czk would be adequate.
DO NOT MISS!!! An amazing museum for adults and kids alike (even has a "Hopik" the elf for the very little ones). Nadia showed us the ropes and was maybe the nicest, best representative of the Czech people and Žatec city. I can't say enough good things about our visit ... and don't miss the beer garden out back either.
the biggest museum in the world is.... closed. 2hrs drivi g for nothing. Google and Website Info mis-leasing
(Translated by Google) Prepare at least one hour to walk through all the floors. Two hours is optimal, but I believe that whoever reads each sign can easily occupy the museum for three hours or more. I was surprised by the number of objects on display and I managed to take in all the information provided. In a word, exhausting. For those who are deeply interested in the issue of beer production, a visit to this museum is a must!
(Translated by Google) On Prokop Velké Square you will find the hop museum. Conceptually, it's fun for kids and adults alike. The place is dominated by the observation tower Chmelový maják, don't miss the Chmelový orloj in the alley. You can also get to the tower by elevator with video projection, but only as part of a guided tour, otherwise you have to take the stairs. I consider that a minus, the height is 42 meters. There are also two restaurants.
(Translated by Google) A large exhibition with many exhibits and period photos about hop cultivation from ancient times to the present day. It was very interesting to see what was involved in preparing a hop farm for the season, how to take care of the hops, harvest them, how they were processed so that they could continue their journey to breweries not only in the Czech lands. It was a reminder for us of how much new technologies and techniques generally simplify our lives and how much physical labor agriculture was (and partly still is). For children, there is a small battle game with several tasks and a treasure chest at the end. But we also enjoyed it as adults helping with the tasks, that's why I'm lobbying for some upgraded version for the elderly.
