Old-fashioned chairlift but very well maintained!
Great, fun and cheap way of getting up to the high vista point. The funicular is pretty retro, looks like it hasn't been updated for decades. I'd recommend holding small kids up to age 7 tightly on your lap, as I don't think the safety bars in the seats are very safe – don't let kids wiggle around when up there! You can walk down, but be aware that it's a winding path about 7km (it is in the shade of the forest, so not too bad in hot weather).
Old-school classic cable from which you can enjoy wonderful views to the country in the southeast direction. The cable goes so slowly that we could examine details of the vegetation to see the borders and changes of its stages depending on the altitude. As we came by car, we just made a round trip but it must be great to have a bicycle with and go on the other end.
Nice experience gets you for a penny up to the best viewpoint of the all environs. Than you may follow the mountain tracks and enjoy the cultivated nature with the stories of history written in the landscape on horizon.
Wonderful machinery, this classic sideways chairlift. Transporta Chrudim under license from Von Roll, Werk Bern. The only one (VR 101) chairlift from 1952 that's still running. A beauty!! Hope they will keep this nostalgic and amazing ride 'till 2052 and beyond!!! This thing is very special and must be kept operational. Hopefully someone will pick up on this and will try care and invest in this classic - last of it's kind unique transport!!
A beautiful experience. Up at the top there's a fantastic restaurant.
Fun ride, great views over the valley.

600m guided route, worth visiting. If you speak the other language, be aware that the tour and all the descriptions are in Czech only.
Great visit, well worth a look....
(Translated by Google) Stola Starý Martin - Visited 10.8.2024. Nice tunnel tour, good guide, lots of interesting things. Free parking, small mining museum outside. Reservation and payment in advance via the website. Tickets are picked up at the tunnel ticket office. The tour guide is great. Lots of interesting facts about the tin mine. Very low corridor profile in places. (Original) Štola Starý Martin - Navštíveno 10.8.2024. Prohlídka štoly pěkná, dobrý průvodce, spousta zajímavostí. Parkoviště zdarma, venku malé hornické muzeum. Rezervace a platba předem přes web. Lístky se vyzvedávaji na pokladně štoly. Průvodkyně skvělá. Spoustu zajímavostí o cinovém dole. Místy hodně nízký profil chodby.
(Translated by Google) We were in the tunnel today. The excursion could have been good if the guide had a better attitude. But it was terribly rushed. When he found out that we were Ukrainians, he didn't pay attention to us at all - he only talked to Czechs. Overall impression – a biased approach to foreigners. Instead of the promised 45 minutes, the tour lasted a maximum of 25 minutes. Unfortunately, everything was too fast.

The Starý Martin tour tunnel in the Steinknochen district is a mining monument of primary importance, the mine follows the Lukáš tin-bearing vein, which, with its approximate length of around 2 kilometers, is one of the longest tin ore veins in Central Europe. The Lukáš tin vein belongs to the flat ore veins, it is deposited in the rock as a kra. Its thickness ranges from 15 to 50 cm, and the local tin ore, called cassiterite, has a tin content of up to several percent in the richest sections, without unwanted additives, e.g. arsenic. Until the middle of the 18th century, tin ore was mined by digging pits from the surface. In 1864, the Krup mines were bought by mining entrepreneurs Lewald and Schiller, who started mining the Starý Martin tunnel. After four years, the tunnel was already 227 meters long. After the death of both businessmen, tin ore mining was managed by the military administration, the so-called Militärbergbau Graupen. In 1916, the latter had the profile of the tunnel enlarged and also the laying of tracks for transport by mine carts. In the same year, the mining rights were sold to Škoda's plants in Pilsen. Three years later, Hugo Mautner became the new owner of the mines. In 1919, 3 casings were in operation, on which 120 miners worked. Mining was stopped in 1923, only maintenance work was carried out in the tunnel. During World War II, exploratory works were excavated from the main corridor, searching for tungsten deposits, which the Germans wanted to use for war purposes. The excavation was completed up to the area under Komáří vižka, but the expected results were not achieved. At the end of the 1960s, the Starý Martin tunnel was definitively closed. The idea to open it as a sightseeing route was implemented between 1999 and 2000. On 15 September 2000, the Starý Martin tunnel was ceremoniously opened to the public. In 2015, the Starý Martin tunnel together with the hereditary Dürrholz tunnel was declared a cultural monument. As the main mountain monument of the Mining Region, Krupka became a world heritage site in 2019, when it was included on the UNESCO list of monuments as part of the Mining Region Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří.
(Translated by Google) Super tour with an excellent interpretation of a person who knows what he is talking about, by chance we were the only two on the tour for a certain hour, which we appreciate very much. Basic information the tour lasts approximately 50 minutes, the tour tunnel measures 600 meters and is the longest route in the Czech Republic, so the length of the route there and back is 1200 meters, some sections are lower in height and the lowest one is only 140 cm in height, a helmet is really important !!! I am attaching the photo for inspiration, but the personal experience is unrepeatable.
