The baked rice pineapple with tofu was just sooooo good! I am vegetarian, but my two friends aren't and they got the same dish and they loved it soooo much! Very nice local food! And when we arrived we got free tequila shots! It is an amazing place with very friendly people! :)
Rin Bar is the best hangout in Chiang Khong. Great atmosphere, karaoke, pool, darts, and tasty food at good prices. Perfect for a fun night out!
A bar with a lot of atmosphere from the decor, darts area, pool table, table-football, graffiti and many other memorabilia on display. Good food menu and seating indoors or outside to watch the passing traffic. A very social vibe and easy to make new friends there. Do visit!
warm and kind bartender, we had a pleasant chat
You never know when you find a bar that plays go music and have a good time. Thank you.
Feeling lost? Here's your spot, grab a beer and be welcomed with open arms. Free pool and free smiles.
We had a free dinner there from our hostel, and it was delicious. Amazing red curry and fried chicken. We saw the menu and it was cheap too so great value restaurant/bar. Cool games (pool, darts, etc)
just arrived today in town and came across this place the owner is very friendly I needed a Samsung new model charger and she had one on hand and a table with a plug so I could charge my phone 2 pool tables karaoke and good overall atmosphere I didn't try the food so I can come and then. Quality accommodation for unbeatable prices. Very friendly staff and superior quality homemade western food cooked to order here. Vegetarian options also available. I also participated in excellent guided hike through the jungle to spectacular waterfall. The guide was very knowledgeable about the local area and the local Hmong village that we passed through on our hike. The hike included lunch and took about 4hrs round trip. The hostel also offers free bikes to guests which is awesome for any small trips into town. A perfect stop off for anyone passing through to Laos or coming from Laos to Thailand. I would definitely return.
Great hostel! After not knowing where to stay after crossing the Laos border, this place seemed pretty good. The room prices are cheap and the owners are very friendly. The private room had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. I'm sure the dorm bunk beds would be the same! The bar area was a great place to calm down after the long boat ride. Easy to make small talk with other tourists, if not there is two adorable dogs you can get along with. It's funky and cozy at the same time. I would definitely stay here longer if I could.
Best place in Chiang Khong! Amazing place to stay, the owners are so friendly and helpful. Lovely bar inside, relax zone, pool table, great food also! Free bikes for the guests. Try the hiking they offer, amazing day in the jungle with some beautiful waterfalls.
$3 a bunk, best beer selection in NoThai and a friendly (hilarious) couple running the place... you need to stay here. Bed was softer than most in SEA. The vibe was funky and it was a peaceful stop in this sleepy town. Perfect entry point into Thailand after the boat trip up river. Thanks guys!
An amazing atmosphere. Rustic and authentic. Private rooms, or dorm, The Hub can accommodate you. Need a western cuisine fix? Burgers, bolognaise, stew and toasties will sort you out. Pull up a seat at the bar and enjoy an evening beverage with great conversation. One night is not enough, you will book for one and stay for three, it is like magic. The Hub is working hard to introduce people to Chiang KHONG, hiking, hill tribes, bike riding or fishing, it is all here and only newly discovered.
Very cool place to stay connected to a bar, incredibly nice & cordial new owners. Great food too! Solid sanctuary on the way to Laos from Thailand or vice versa. Would come back again for sure! ✌️👍
We stayed one night at the dorm for 100Baht per person. We could leave our bulky bicycles inside which is always a relief. We found the place was though a bit unattended and I doubt they had even changed the sheets. A bit disappointing.
Such a great hostel, orginally only booked for one night but ended up staying for 3 as it was so lovely. The dorm is spacious and is cleaned daily and the shared showers and toilets are spotless. The owners are very friendly and make you feel welcome. They both have great knowledge about travelling across the border to Laos and you are able to book the slow boat directly with them. I also went on a jungle hike to a beautiful waterfall hidden away away from the tourist trail with one of the owners. There are also two friendly dogs (belonging to the hostel owners) which like to follow you to town. A lovely hostel and one that you should definitely stay for more than one night, Chiang Khong has so much to offer.

This is the oldest temple in Chiang Khong, located right to the bank of Mekong River, offering a very nice view of the river and Houay Xai, Laos on the other bank, especially at the sunset, very peaceful . Don't miss the ceremony / ritual to wash Buddha's hair at the chedi.
A typical northern Thai religious architecture. This local temple is located tight at the Mekong river side. It's a pleasant and peaceful place to relax late afternoon to watch the sunset on the Laotian side of the river. Usually not too crowded and worth a visit to understand the local culture.
Visiting temples or Wats has been very educational, especially the designs and decorations of the temples. Wat Phra Kaew in Chiang Khong is no exception; it is a smaller version but has its own charms since it is located beside the Mekong River and borders Laos. This riverside temple blends beautifully with culture and heritage. From the outlook, you can tell it is a very old temple/wat, based on the decorations and design. Besides overlooking the Mekong River and neighboring Laos, this peaceful yet elegant temple offers a serene atmosphere. Though it is built within the town, the quietness reflected in the scope of scenic river views is perfect. The temple grounds are well-kept, featuring elegant Lanna-style architecture and a tranquil ambiance. Though smaller, Wat Phra Kaew in Chiang Khong holds great local significance and showcases intricate craftsmanship, with the river breeze and distant mountain backdrop making it a lovely stop for travelers exploring Chiang Rai’s border town. A Like is most welcome!!
Another stunning temple, this with lovely Mekong river views. This is the oldest temple in the district. The is also a legend of a sacred stream joining this temple with Wat Luang. Colorful lanterns are seen from the main road side.
Oldest temple in downtown Chiang Khong
The temple is located in the city center. Entrance gate is on walking street side. Inside has river view. Emerald buddha is beautiful.
Very nice temple with beautiful views of Mekong River.
Enjoyed the visit to this temple. It's in the center of downtown chiang khong
