Nature & Parks
Extensive English-style formal gardens created in the 1930s by the writer, Vita Sackville-West.

A beautiful place with intricate narrow geometrical paths guiding you through formal gardens bursting with abundant flowers and verdant foliage. Then there are informal woodland areas that let you relax into the unstructured escapism of rural life. A new addition is a Mediterranean-inspired garden. Also, the buildings are full of charm and beauty, including a row of large bold oast houses. And the impressive tower provides panoramic views across the countryside. The restaurant food is good and the staff are very friendly. It's a great place to escape to.
Another fabulous National Trust property. So much to see and learn about its history and the family that lived there. Extensive grounds and buildings. Definitely worth climbing the 78 steps to the top of the tower, great views. Lovely coffee shop, shop and you can buy plants there too. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Someone gave us an excellent introduction to our visit which was useful. Highly recommend!
I had high expectations and Sissinghurst Castle Gardens exceeded them! Cannot recommend a visit to this special garden enough, especially at this time of year (May). Abundant, romantic, and thoughtful plantings that are beautiful and differ from one outdoor “room” to the next. I also recommend taking the walk around the castle grounds that leads to the ponds and woodland. My children really enjoyed that space. PS good restaurant and gift shop too
A remarkably beautiful garden, full of surprises. I recommend setting aside a full day to visit the house and garden. The coffee shop serves delicious coffees, and the restaurant menu is enticing. The pet and garden shop is full of cute ideas, theres a second-hand bookshop, and you can buy freshly harvested organic vegetables from their very own garden. A walk through the vegetable garden and apple orchard is not to be missed, followed by a quiet period in the bird hide. Vita Sackville West, the co-creator with her husband Norman, of the stunning garden, has a fascinating life story.
Sissinghurst Castle is truly outstanding! There’s plenty of parking available, and the food selection is excellent with two different areas to choose from. The grounds are stunning, with lots of walks to enjoy, and even a lake where dogs can have a refreshing swim. It’s also a fantastic place for children, with lots of space and things to explore. Just a note: strollers aren’t allowed inside the premises, but they can be parked conveniently next to reception. The history of the castle is fascinating, especially learning about Vita’s remarkable and inspiring life. Sissinghurst is the perfect mix of beauty, history, and family-friendly fun – highly recommended for a day out!
Gorgeous place! The grounds are stunning, with plenty of lovely walks to enjoy. We explored the castle grounds, ponds, and woodland.
This National Trust property is called Sissinghurst Castle Garden, but there is not much of a Castle here. A tower in the centre of a large garden is the dominant figure and one can climb up the stairs to enjoy a panoramic view of the gardens and the landscape further away. The welcome centre is located in a picturesque oust house building with the conical towers typical of the Kent countryside. A building that used to be a stable now contains a large room which the previous owners used mainly as a library.
The flowers are great. Especially in season. The central tower is worth a visit. I recommend getting there for opening as it gets quite busy. You only get 30 minutes to view the gardens and inner court. But still worth a visit. The scones are also worth a try!

Had a Sunday family meal here and we were really impressed, lovely venue, plenty of parking and the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We all thought the food was first class. I would definitely book again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends.
Came for a pub meal during the week. Lovely experience. Sat in the garden and had pizza and a few beers. The staff were very busy and there was some confusion on 2 occasions with menu. We ordered 5 pizzas and only got 4 and we ordered one wine and got a different one. Despite this, a great experience. The food was fresh and plenty of it and it was a great atmosphere
The dining area menu was a foodie’s dream. You can tell that the kitchen puts a lot of skill and love into every dish. I wish I lived in this area as I would eat at this pub at least once a week. This is what all British pubs should strive to be. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent and the setting was very comfortable. The building has that old classic charm with a modernised look and the garden setting looked very welcoming. I would travel from afar to eat here again, it was that good.
I visit The Milk House around 4-5 times a year with my husband. Despite visiting an array of different restaurants, hotels and pubs in the area, The Milk House remains our favourite. The rooms are amazing, particularly The Byre which is our favourite. Huge bathroom. Great views and scenery in the garden. Food is great quality and very reasonably priced. Will keep coming back!
Nice restaurant with plenty of outside space. Also, large carpark, make sure to check your car in at the bar or risk a substantial fine. Food served all day from a varied menu along with a dedicated pizza kitchen. Friendly staff & prompt service & convenient for visiting NT Sissinghurst
Milk fest, sadly not the best experience. Drinks expensive and soggy pizza. Some of the more mature and grumpy staff should perhaps leave the event to the youngsters who appear to enjoy working there more than they do.
Chilled gastro pub with parking and a big garden. Halloumi burger was excellent. The hake got a big thumbs up from my wife. We didn’t try them but there are pizzas as well so something for all the family. I’m sure we’ll be back. Service was polite and food arrived quickly.
The Milk House is one my my favorite pub / restaurants in the area. Always a lovely menu with delicious food and friendly staff. Our dog was well catered for as well.
