Want to get away from the hassle of streets, pool, and beaches for a couple of hours? Once you make it to the top of the hill, you can have an incredibly relaxing walk around the monastery, it's grounds and along to the viewpoint. There's a cafe for refreshments and peacocks, too. If not part of an organised group, there was a 10 Euro entrance charge for casual tourists, but it was worth it.
If you’re staying in one of the resorts between Rhodes Town and the airport, you really shouldn’t miss this place (you can also get there from the town, but the trip is a bit longer). We decided to visit the mountain on a day when the sea was rough, red flags were flying on the beaches, and boats weren’t allowed to leave the harbor. It turned out to be the perfect choice, and we didn’t regret it for a second. In fact, it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Highlights of the Visit The monastery – a beautiful old complex The views, especially at sunrise and sunset. The castle ruins – to get here, you leave the monastery courtyard, cross the road toward the Cross on Filerimos, and walk about 200–300 meters. The peacocks – without a doubt, the stars of the show! Dozens of them wander freely around the grounds, showing off their amazing colourful feathers. The Cross on Filerimos – a striking monument, especially for Christian visitors, but also a fantastic spot for photos. The Via Dolorosa – a beautiful tree-lined path with 14 marble and bronze sculptures illustrating scenes from the life of Christ. Good to Know There’s free parking. Right by the monastery, there’s a small kiosk/bar where you can grab a drink or a quick snack. The peacocks are very friendly and used to people. If you can, bring them some water or a little bird food (though there are so many, you won’t be able to feed them all). Try to avoid visiting on very hot days, especially at midday, as many spots like the Cross and the castle ruins are not shaded.
Peaceful and beautiful place. Very nice view. But I consider it too expensive 20€. You don't must to pay if you're there for the view only, just go to the cross on the other side from the same parking lot.
The place and the scenery is beautiful, it is a shame that the monastery hasn’t been looked after the way it should be by the local authorities. There was a door broken and inside there were old abandoned furniture and rubbish. For the price of 10€ for a ticket one would expect at least a new door.
As well as the cross, Filerimos Church, Monastery, Chapel and fortress are definitely worth a visit. (Modern toilets are available if you pay to visit the buildings) The car park (which is quite large) had many spaces when we came. Oh, and you can't miss the peacocks.
The monastery is beautiful and the location offers great views. The tickets are quite pricey though.
Definitely worth the visit, it is a beautiful spot! I recommend you to go a bit before sunset, see the monastery (6€/person), wonder around with the peacocks and then walk over to the cross for the sunset. The monastery has a stroller friendly way up as well and there were peacocks literally everywhere. Keep in mind, this has opening hours, the cross do not.
Monastery was nice albeit a bit expensive for its size. Views were amazing and lots of peacocks to see and feed. Surrounding area was great to hike around too

An absolutely amazing place full of ancient history! Missed this last year but so glad we went this year! The views are spectacular! Lots of peacocks live there too and they like showing off! Choose your time wisely though as can get very busy!
Cost 10 Euros to enter the site. Great views towards the north and West. Number of Peacocks and their displays impressive. Lovely green wooded environment surrounding the site. Two hours sufficient to visit site and surrounding areas.
At this place, I was surprised by both the peacocks and the rich history that has been preserved here. From the monastery to the castle. You can walk around it crisscross. Beautiful views await you here, beautiful buildings that you can also see from the inside. Entrance to the castle and monastery grounds is paid. The grounds are well-maintained and clean, and the toilets were clean too.
Filerimos Monastery and the Calvaria walk is moderately visited by larger crowds, so you can enjoy the beauty of history, art, nature, the surroundings and the amazing views from there. Tickets should be bought at the entrance, friendly and English speaking staff there. If you come by car, nice ride up to the hill, parking available.
Beautiful place, full of ancient history. And of course, peacocks! You can buy some feed from the shop. The entrance to the monastery is €10 pp and is really worth the visit. If you have the energy, I highly recommend walking up rather than taking a bus/car. It's a scenic walk.
Lovely little walk around the monastery. It's quiet and interesting. Beautiful views from the big cross. Great if you want to watch the sunset! Take cash as there's no WiFi to pay for your entry up there.
Filerimos is definitely worth a visit. The drive there alone is beautiful, taking you through rocks and pine trees with regularly fantastic views. Once you arrive, you're greeted by many peacocks roaming freely – very fun! For history lovers, the old, no longer inhabited monastery can be visited. The silence and peace among the old buildings is special. We went there on Sunday, September 28th, and it turned out to be "Tourist Day," so the entrance was free 😁 On the other side, a path under the trees leads to the cross. The view from there over Rhodes is fantastic!"
Lots of peacocks and peahens tickets are 10€pp. No running water when we went so no toilet facilities available. Nice walk around you'll only need about 45mins-1hr there to walk around. If you travel by taxi prebook it for your return if you call when you have finished the taxi can easily be a 30 min wait.
