The Friary was founded by William Delamer in 1250. In 1525 it was suppressed by Henry III It's beautiful place to have personal Prayers, Confession and spiritual guidance.
One of the most amazing locations I have ever visited, the small cemetery, the friary, the life size stations of the cross, the garden and large cross, it really is up there with the best locations on offer, I truly loved every minute of my visit, you will too, cheers
The Stations of the Cross are so beautiful and poignant. The Church is beautiful, themed around the Children of Lir. There is also little ladders around the grounds for the fairies. Someday I hope to be married here. 🙏🏼✝️🙏🏼
This is the first settlement in Ireland in the year 1270. So much history and cultural significance is in this building. Stained glass windows tell the story of Ag Chriost an siol, and the fairytales of Old Ireland. The grounds have life size depictions on the way of the cross and a small garden. Would recommend if you are in the area.
I could not belive how beautiful and tranquil the Abby was, and how I had never heard of it.
A beautiful place to visit. There is a lovely walk in the trees with life size depictions of the Stations of the Cross strategically placed among the trees. It is very calm and tranquil walking among the trees, listening to the birds singing. Being there defies stress! There is a beautiful old Abbey dating back to 1240. The grounds are always well tended and it offers a different beauty in each of the four seasons. It is a universal spirituality that emanates from this wonderful place and not religion.
Beautiful church with stained glass windows..was raining so didn't get to walk the grounds. Free to visit
What a fabulous place. The Abbey is interesting in itself but the grounds wow. Abbey is the shape of a cross. Nice quiet church worth a visit. The highlight by far are the life size stations of the cross in the garden grounds. Really amazing. Also wheelchair accessible. Well worth the visit.
