The place is very impressive. It's really annoying that you can't tour the castle independently, only with a guided tour. Why? Why wait a whole hour for them to walk around with you for a whole hour and speak in a language you don't understand? Of course we didn't go in, but we walked around and walked around from the outside, enjoying the views of the area and the beautiful lakes.
Very nice well restored castle that was built in stages. You must choose a guided tour. There are several with different length of time. There are set times when the tours start. The shortest is 40 minutes which was just right. If you don’t understand the Czech language, there are English text which is handed to you to read while on the tour. The entrance fee which includes the tour is reasonable, the price is obviously higher for the longer tours. There are two parking places near the castle. The price is KC 100 flat fee for the whole visit. There are restaurants which serve food and coffee.
The renovated castle looks magnificent and authentic from the outside, however the interior is more of a museum than an authentic castle, but that is okay. Castle offers guided tours, however they are only in Czech since there is not that many foreign visitors. If you do not speak Czech you are given a textbook about most rooms, it's quite concise (the guide definitely tells more information), but it is at least something. Sadly last few places where the guide lead us are ommited from the book given to the non-czech speakers. There is also the possibility to use an audio guide app for most rooms, however even though I brought headphones for this I wasn't able to use that since I came to the castle 10 min. before the tour (come earlier to familiarize with the app, bring headphones).
Discover the Enchantment of Castle Kost Step into a realm where history whispers through ancient walls and Gothic architecture reigns supreme. Nestled in the heart of Bohemian Paradise, Castle Kost stands as a testament to the grandeur of the past. Its trapezoidal tower, designed to deflect the fiercest of attacks, and the surrounding lush valleys, make it a photographer’s dream and a historian’s delight. As I explored this best-preserved Gothic fortress, I couldn’t help but sketch its majestic silhouette. Each stroke of my pencil captured the essence of Kost’s timeless beauty. Follow my journey as I unveil more hidden gems and sketches of the Czech Republic’s treasures.
Beautiful castle, a great guide tour, dog friendly
Absolutely worth the stop as you wander the gems of Bohemia. Kost gives you a great example of how imposing the fortresses could be.
Fantastic castle, well preserved, with good exhibits. Suitable for anyone to visit. A little restaurant is on site, and there are a few tours available, highly informative. Highly recommended, about 1 hour drive away from Prague.
Just a few kilometres outside of Prague. Is very nice castle. The entrance is cheap (90 Kč and the tour guide is really interesting) . If you prefer only realx, Don't miss the incredible menu with super grill

A Sketch of Timelessness at Castle Humprecht Embark on a journey to the heart of the Bohemian Paradise and discover the architectural marvel that is Castle Humprecht. With its unique elliptical design and a conical roof that pierces the sky, this Baroque masterpiece is a sight to behold. As a lover of history and art, I was inspired to capture its essence through my sketches. Join me in appreciating the acoustic wonders of its 16-meter-high hall and the panoramic views from the observation balcony. My sketches aim to bring the spirit of Castle Humprecht to life, one line at a time. Follow for more sketches and stories behind the Czech Republic’s historic landmarks. 🏰✏️ #SketchingHumprecht
I was on a tour of the castle yesterday, Sunday. I was especially deeply impressed by the singing of the man in the large oval hall and our young tour guide, who was very attentive to us and her colleagues. The woman at the reception was also very pleasant. And I really liked that there are many fresh flowers and flowerpots in the castle. Everything is very ethereal and tasteful. The design of the castle itself is very unusual. Thank you 💖
Humprecht hunting castle situated on the Sobotka village hill. Built in 1666-1668 by Humprecht Jan Czernin from Chudenice and designed by the Italian architect Carlo Lurago. A truly remarkable place with an enchanting view.
Beautiful completely renovated castle. Great tour, very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Real flowers, plants and food on display instead of cheap plastic imitations which sets it apart from most other similar attractions. You can really see the care and love that went into this special place.
Note upon arrivle , the offical entry is by short walk with stairs from the cemetery parking lot. A truly special castle with unique architecture. Don’t miss the oval chamber, where you can experience a fascinating 15-second echo effect—a rare acoustic phenomenon. The castle features extraordinary wooden craftsmanship dating back to the 1600s, beautifully preserved. Take a peek into the daily life of the aristocracy, and enjoy the blend of history, artistry, and mystery this place offers.
Nice hunting lodge. Worth seeing the "tramping" exhibition at the top floor, though it's a bit of a climb.
Amazing view from the terassa, the location is green and peaceful.. They built here as a hunting home for king and because he had a nice relationship with Turkey that time he put a new moon on the top of the building.
Nice walk till there and accessible for strollers.
