Very well preserved chateau. Beautiful Gardens. Cute café offering homemade desserts.
A lovely place to start our Saturday off. There are 2 great castles in the #Benesov area. This location is also a hotel & a great place for wedding. It has a park with animals, ponds and even a few peacocks. #Enjoy
We really enjoyed this place-- there are only 4 apartments in the hotel, each sumptuously equipped in old world elegance. We had a huge bedroom with a canopied bed, a nice living room with a fireplace, and a large, well equipped bathroom. There is a very nice cafe (Custoza) and a pretty good restaurant-- all elegant and very inviting. The service, which is very polite with some English spoken was uneven-- we had to ask for coffee and tea with our breakfast several times until we got it, and the coffee maker in our room was broken and required, again, repeated requests for a replacement. There is a small park attached to the chateau, full of benches, and they provide blankets and pillows to make your stay in the park more enjoyable. We took a guided tour of the fascinating chateau (part of which is occupied by the current owner), which was built in 1725, and our guide, Barbara, was super nice and knowledgeable. She even poured us champaign to sip during the tour. We got a picnic basket for lunch, which was very nicely arranged. It is rather expensive (they charged us for tap water and for cutlery!), but we still enjoyed it enormously and shall probably return for festive occasions.
Nice garden, but I felt quite uneasy here, especially because you are supposed to make garden upkeep donation if you enter, but the trick is that the amount you have to donate is mentioned on the price list in the pub which is located inside the garden, so you don't have chance to decide before you enter. And as the prices (including the expected donation) is quite high here you will quite likely end up feeling like a cheater.
Well restored and maintained, amazing cafe and restaurant, a tour takes you to the interesting parts of the inside of the castle, on the outside, great area for a stroll with kids, say hello to all the animals, with two parrots and kangaroos as the main attraction!
Beautiful place, so peaceful and quiet and so complete.. Great restaurant with a great service, brilliant tour inside of the castle and very friendly staff. What else to wish for for a weekend out..? :)
A touching history. Pleased the property back in the hands of its true owners. Loved the eagle/owl in falconry display, also dining room decor. Well done to the owners.
We saw a falconry display, toured the chateau and had a wonderful lunch, we then went for a walk through the gardens. It is a beautiful location.
