Great hike to do with kids. It's 2.2 miles in and 2.2 miles out. We saw an eagle and fish trying to swim upstream.
It was an okay hike. Personally i found it way overrated. First off it cost $15 to park. The trail is very nice and well marked. However there are no views, pretty forest but you can get that anywhere. The viewing platforms were full of people and we saw a few fish jumping. It was a long walk without much excitement. Overall, I wish I went elsewhere with a prettier quieter trail.
$15 to park which I found steep- the hike to the falls is pretty flat with minimal views. Easy hike yet a boring hike. The platform viewing area is small, but it was a nice view- did not see Bear but did see a few salmon jumping-the mosquitoes were horrible
Amazing place to watch salmon run and maybe catch some bear viewing. Easy 5mi round trip trail good for all versions of hikers. $11 CASH ONLY to park for the day before hiking/fishing. A grizzly has been living there for quite some time, I was lucky enough to catch some awesome pictures when she and her cubs came out. You are never guaranteed to see a bear, so be patient!
Beautiful, amazing natural falls. If you're lucky you may see a bear eating salmon as they jump up the falls, which is a sight to behold. I highly recommend doing the 2 mile hike to see the falls, it is definitely worth it. The path for the hike is a good gravel path, so even those who are not prime walkers can make the hike fairly easily.
This is a great hike. The trail is well maintained and easy. About 4 miles round trip. It is amazing to see the salmon jumó up the falls. We stayed at the end for a couple hours enjoying the unique experience. I’d highly recommend doing this hike.
It is so fascinating to watch the salmon try to go up these falls. Some jump right into the rocks. Some swim furiously up the intense roaring channels only to be swept back down again. Some jump to a middle pool and then to an upper pool only to be swept back down a different channel. A few make it to the next round of falls and start the ordeal again. A seagull watched all day long on the shore for a salmon to give up and provide it with an easy meal. It really makes you think about the intense struggle of life. This location allows you to watch from above on two different platforms. You can also hike down to the bottom of the falls to get a closer look. I was able to reach into a pool and touch the salmon who were temporarily resting before their next attempt.
We visited on a Monday in early June. We were able to watch a handful of salmon leaping out of the water trying to traverse the rapids against the current. It took some patients, but if you kept an eye out you would see one jump every 3 to 4 minutes
