An unforgettable adrenaline-filled experience! We went rafting with this incredible team and it was one of the most exciting adventures we've ever had. From the start, they gave us all the necessary instructions to make us feel safe and enjoy ourselves to the fullest. The river had the perfect amount of excitement, and every rapid was pure fun. The guides were super professional, attentive, and had a great vibe. Plus, the scenery was breathtaking. Definitely recommended for those looking for adventure, laughter, and a good dose of nature! 💦🚣‍♂️🌊 We would come back a thousand times over!
We had the most wonderful time on our Lower River trip with the kids. Our guide was a delight and we felt we were in good hands through the whole tour. It was a first time for most of us and everyone loved it so much we’re dying to go back. The river was beautiful and on the Lower River trip there was enough excitement to be fun while also having plenty of time to enjoy the view and chat with others on the boat. Highly recommended!
Our family of 3 had an awesome time! Perfect amount of thrill and beautiful scenery. My 8 year old son was nervous at first but Bart, our guide, made him relax and he loved every minute of the river. Bart "nailed" the experience! We will definitely be back!
Soooo much fun!!! Must do!!! You realistically may fall in but you’ll be ok! Just a blast. They give you all your gear and there is a guide. We made a reservation
Absolutely 5 stars!!! We had an awesome time! It was definitely the highlight of our family vacation and we’re all talking about how we will 100% do it again! Our guide Lilly was awesome! All four of us were first timers and I am not a swimmer and she made the experience an amazing one for all of us. Thank you all for a great experience all around and for memories I’m sure we’ll be talking about for years to come! Can’t wait to join y’all again next time!!!
Booked thru trip advisor as one of the planned events on my Bday tour to Gatlinburg/ Pigeon forge. This was the best and most value eccentric tour I did out of 4. Courtney Shoemake our river guide made this a very fun and memorable experience. I do like the organization and extra thought put in here. All the guides have pictures on the wall with their venmos vs alot of places want u to hunt them down or give cash. Big thumbs up on that! Og I was scheduled for the upper pigeon River which has the lvl 4 rapids but the upper river was closed due to interstate flooding. Unlike apparently some other tours that just canceled ppl for upper river (according to other people I met elsewhere the next day) they just switched us to a longer stretch of the lower river. Perfect thing to do to enjoy the scenery and the water is nice and cool there's even a stretch they let u swim in. A good HR and half -2 hrs of occasional paddling. *Highly recommended to bring swimming trunks or swim gear and water shoes. Big parentheses on water shoes. You need something that can get wet but allow u to shove your feet in the nooks and crannies of the raft so u don't get knocked off. If not u can buy some on station ** Advisable to arrive very early . You need enough time to park, check in, get dressed, and get ready to get organized into the tour and catch the bus to the start point. They send an email about it the day of but if you're like me that's prob far too late of a notification to rearrange times. I think they're pretty flexible with it I arrived with about 15 min to spare so I'm pretty sure I got flexed into the 1:00 tour. There is a bathroom with a shower to get dressed in with stalls. They have lockers (paid for) but honestly if u have a phone water pouch your keys and phone can fit in there and u can catch the entire trip on the video if u secure it right. Otherwise a go pro or insta (waterproofed camera in housing) can prob catch the trip and scenes for u. They do have a picture package however it is 36$. And only 12 shots which ,depending on your raft orientation and seating arrangement, may not have many of u in it. ( I think with mine I could only clearly be seen in maybe 3) It is shot on one section of the river. You get a link to download via text or email. There was a food truck on site( don't know if it was a weekend thing or not) and it was great, bc Hartford was about an hour away from where I was staying, to have hot food after 2 hrs plus. *** Side note apparently most of the guides apparently stay near the base camp they have neat lil cabin with western names they get to have for 120$ a month as a guide! Nice I definitely want to come back and try the upper river with the same company as I had an amazing experience and hope other do as well. Almost makes hertz messing up my original trip last October worth it ( as this was not available at all in my Original planning)
We had a family of 6 and used SMO to do white water rapids for the afternoon. It was a gorgeous day in August (temp around 75). According to our fabulous and amazing guide Eleanor (get her if you can!!), the post hurricane river landscape has changed dramatically, but we still had a lot of fun! The SMO buildings are pretty much brand new (built in Feb 25) because of that hurricane as a result. Everything about the experience was great, and I would highly recommend it.
Had a great experience rafting with Miami as our guide. Staff were fun and competent, buildings were under construction following Helene but were coming along great. It was sad seeing the destruction TN faced in the hurricane, but good to see the area and businesses recovering. The river itself was awesome. We opted for the 2hr tour for ages 8+. Nothing too crazy but definitely enjoyable.

Rafting In The Smokies was an absolutely amazing adventure!!! Our raft guide, Barbie, was super amazing!! She not only provided awesome coaching and instruction (had us out there looking like an Ivy League rowing team...Harvard...Yale let's race) but she also jumped into action with no hesitation when my son fell in. Surely one experience he won't forget for years to come...in my opinion he had the BEST experience out of everyone. He was a little shaken up at first, but later (after lunch lmao) found the courage to jump in during the swimming parts of our rafting adventure!! The high tides (smooth ride), low tides (bumpy ride), the wildlife, and the scenery are all worth it!!! And if you are as lucky as my son, you'll fall in at some point and then get pampered like a prince for the remainder of the adventure. Definitely an adventure I'd go on again. Definitely worth it!!
Our first experience as a family going rafting and the lower river family float was the perfect way to g et our feet wet! Our son LOVED it and was ready for more. We felt completely safe and our guide Allie was amazing! Highly recommend for anyone wanting an adventure without the fear!
Moss was a great guide. Had a 9 yr old with us and she had a blast. She said it was her favorite part of our week long trip. She got to just sit in the front since the paddle was too big and enjoyed all the dips and splashes. Loved how quick and efficient everything was to get into the water. Grabbed a bunch of souvenirs and quality photos from the experience.
Everyone there was super nice, friendly, and welcoming. The rope course had different levels for each person’s comfortability. The guides for the rope course made sure to explain the rules and that they could assist throughout the whole course. There is a chance for rope blisters, but the staff had first aid prepared. To avoid blisters, one could ask for some gloves. The guides for the zip lining were very experienced and could show off their tricks on the line. It was cool to see and a great experience!
We had an amazing experience with Rafting in the Smokies! The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and ensured everyone's safety while keeping the adventure fun. The rafting trip down the Pigeon River was thrilling, with just the right mix of rapids and calm stretches to enjoy the stunning scenery. The equipment was top-notch and well-maintained. This is a must-do activity for anyone visiting the Smoky Mountains, and we highly recommend Rafting in the Smokies for an unforgettable outdoor adventure!
Lots of fun!!! Camping was amazing!! Nice clean showers and kind owners. Fourth of July was incredible with fireworks. Definitely be back!! Very family oriented. Thank you for a fantastic time.
Such a fun experience for my husband and I, and it was super affordable!! We were walk-ins and they were able to get us in within the hour. Our guide Mason was super funny and knowledgeable, and the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. We highly recommend eating at the Pigeon River Smokehouse right across the street before or after your trip. The brisket sandwich was sooo good!!
Went here with a group of 11 with kids and adults. We first went zip lining and it was great way to have my first zip lining experience. The zip lines are not super long so for first timers is helpful. The workers were informative and attentive. Sean and J1 were our guides and made sure everyone was safe, comfortable and having a good time. We brought lunch and were able to eat at the picnic tables but they do have food places around. Our second activity was the lower level rafting, due to ages of kids, and it was one of the coolest things I have ever done. You have to paddle on the lower levers rafting but get to relax more down the river. We were able to hop in the water at one point and float down the river with the mountains all around us. The Mountain Views were a sight to see. Our guide Jason was the best. He was friendly, informative and helped us be the first boat to make it to the pick up spot. He also was able to lift me out of the water and back into the boat which I was worried I wouldn’t make it back in. He was able to answer all our questions and made the trip enjoyable. The youngest kids got to sit in the front of the boat and enjoy the ride while the rest of us paddled. You need water shoes to participate and will be putting on a helmet and life vest. Great place to bring the family.

It was absolutely one of our favorite things. our guide was wonderful and calm and kept us informed on what was needed done and when. I got to sit up front at the princess place on the raft (😉)and video and take pictures it was my first time going such a blast. Highly recommended
KO was our guide and she was amazing! I took my 5 year old granddaughter for her first rafting trip so we did the Lower River trip. My granddaughter and I both had an amazing experience and I’d have to say this was the highlight of our week long trip in the area too top everything else we did. My granddaughter started out with telling KO she wasn’t going to row when she was handed an oar but quickly changed her mind once on the river and saw how much fun it was. I’d definitely recommend this company to anyone thinking of doing rafting. When we get a chance to come back this way we will definitely come back.
Today, I got to mark rafting off of my bucket list. We chose the upper, and I will have to say, I'm ready to go again. Our guide was Chris (Fornite), and he was amazing, I highly recommend him. He was very informative about the river & told about Hurricane Helene. He was so upbeat the entire ride. Chris, thanks for an amazing wild ride today. I can't wait to come back.
The whole family had a fantastic time. “Thank you” to all the competent staff and Griz, our guide. We rolled up to the outfitters down a scenic route, got there early for plenty of parking, by the time we hung out for a little while and were ready it was time to grab the gear and get a quick lesson. We piled onto the bus for a quick trip upstream and dropped in. The bus was a little cozy but the ride is pretty quick and it wasn’t a big deal because in no time, after another lesson on the bus and a few extra jokes from the staff it was time to hit the water. It’s a short one hour trip with a few really fun class threes, just enough to cool off, have a thrill, grab lunch after, and catch a small hike to round out the day. Nice job guys.
We had the best time on the river today. Our guide, Jay, was friendly and shared stories and facts about the area that made our trip even more entertaining. He is also very skilled at helping a girl out when she fell out. She is me. Thanks Jay!
They were awesome! The guides were really experienced and fun. When my youngest child was a bit nervous, one of guides spoke with her and made her feel less fearful and more excited about the trip. Our whole family had a blast!
My fiancé, cousins, and I had so much fun rafting with Raft Outdoor Adventures! Our guide, Lance, ensured we were safe and well-prepared and kept us entertained with a wealth of knowledge about both local history and rafting. I highly recommend rafting with Raft Outdoor Adventures and will definitely return if the opportunity arises!
I don't usually do reviews, but couldn't pass up this one. Our family went rafting for the first time ever over Labor Day weekend on the III course to celebrate our daughter's upcoming 16th birthday. Courtney was our guide. Our party was 5 people, myself, my spouse, and our daughters, age 15, 10 and 10. We had the BEST time and everyone wanted to go back and do it again. Courtney was so great with our group and patient as we learned, but also able to teach us and encourage us. This was one of our favorite experiences and I can't say enough about how awesome our guide was. Highly recommend! If you are wondering who all was there and what type of crowd goes on these trips, I can share with you that other people who went out in our rafting group included a college group, couples without children, and a group of young men out for a bachelors weekend, and a few other families. Everyone had fun! We will go again and seek out other rafting opportunities in the future. Courtney hooked our whole family on this

When I tell you, we had the most perfect day on the water, that is not an exaggeration. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, but our raft guide took the cake. Bate was super energetic, funny, and ready to give us the ride of our life! We cannot recommend River Rat enough! They take their time and make sure you are truly enjoying yourself. We’ll definitely be back again to try the upper rapids with them next time.
This company has their stuff together and I would highly recommend you book with River Rat! My family of four had an excellent adventure with our guide “Tommy”. The organization upon arrival, safety brief, and comrade tie amongst the guides made it even more fun. We felt safe the entire time and will definitely be going back. It was about a 3 mile raft ride and we saw some 3s and one class 4 whitewater.
We went whitewater rafting with River Rat in Hartford, TN, and had an absolute blast! Our guide, Haas, was phenomenal—super knowledgeable, funny, and made the entire trip feel safe and exciting at the same time. He had us laughing the whole way down the river and gave us a memorable experience we’ll be talking about for a long time. You can tell he really knows what he’s doing and genuinely cares about making the trip awesome for everyone. If you’re thinking about rafting here, ask for Haas—you won’t regret it! Thank you, River Rat, and big thanks to Haas for making our day so much fun!
Awesome experience ! Ethan was a fantastic guide! Turns out eberything he told us to do was the correct thing to do! Lol. One dude fell out and we, with Ethan help , got him back in quick and kept moving on! Super fun ride.
This place was amazing. We did 3 boats on the upper extreme adventure and one on the lower rapids for the littles and we all had a blast. Polly, Jamie, and Liam were amazing and really made the experience for us. Seeing the pictures afterwards was so fun too.
This was the second time white water rafting for my wife and me. We decided to take the whole family including my parents this time. We had a total of 8 people ranging from 65-8 years old. Everyone had an amazing time and enjoyed the wonderful experience our two guides took us on, Sarah and Bobbie. My mom who was leary at first, never been, had a great time and was able to check that off her bucket list. My son who is 8 enjpyed himself and Sarah made sure he was good the whole ride. Wpuld for sure recommend this place if you are new to it or someone that is experienced.
This was absolutely the best choice we could have made!! The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly, they are all about keeping you safe and being able to enjoy your trip. Our guide Dan was amazing!!! He made us feel secure and made sure we had a great time keeping us laughing the entire time. We would DEFINITELY choose this group again! YaYa's 2025
I’ve been rafting plenty times before but this was my son’s first time and he loved it. Most of that reason was because of our guide Dan. He had us laughing most of the trip and even had heart felt conversations. He quickly calmed my son’s nerves and he was hyped for the trip. River Rat has everything. They have the mount clips for GoPros, water shoes, clothing, hot showers, food, and drinks onsite. They also have splash suits to borrow which was great for the trip but my son had such a blast that despite the water being really cold, he jumped in the water and floated the rest of the end of trip in. The entire staff from check in, guides, and bus drivers are the friendliest as they come. I can’t say enough about them all. After the trip my son said it’s one of the best memories he’ll have. Thank you!

FUN & Beautiful The ride was pleasant and safe, they had restricted water flow at the time we went(Oct), wish it was more violent. Our guide Bobby was awesome, you get a history lessons on your journey. Curtis was there to help if we fell over board. All the staff was friendly and wonderful. Make sure you dress accordingly to temperature.
Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. We did the rafting with 2 young kids and it was fun and easy. Our guide Jeff was nice informative and good with the boys! Glad we chose the pace for the rafting trip.
We did the zip line and rafting. For the rafting our guide was Gabe. He was amazing. He knew the river really well, gave fun facts during the trip. Last but not least he could handle the raft so well and made sure we got wet and had a good time. He is the best guide ever. Highly recommend. And his team lead was prerry awesome too. He took photos for us and gave good safety tips. These guys are great and the whole day was great!
I love taking what I call "one tank trips" a tank of gas round trip to enjoy getting out of the house. I enjoy traveling, day trips and vacation. I'm always bringing my best friend along. He had never been on a zip line before. So I got to work looking for a place close to home and that looked exciting. We did the waterfall gorge canopy zipline. The staff were friendly, professional and our personal guides were excellent! After we registered we went upstairs where they trained us to use our equipment properly along with some "do's" and "don'ts" to ensure safety. The scenery, river and zip lines were so much fun. It's good for groups or just a few people. We had one another laughing so much it made for a great day!
Such a great experience! The tour guides were hilarious and super helpful. We did not have to wait long to start rafting as they were super efficient and quick. Their equipment is new and clean. Two hours of unforgettable fun, worth every penny. Highly recommend!
This was the best thing we did on our vacation.. I've never been rafting the water was cold rough and it did rain on us but that was the fun and interesting part.. The staffs was excellent and full of jokes.. as the water calmed down a lot of us jumped into the water for a swim.. I would definitely recommend this...
What a great experience! This staff was very professional. The views were absolutely incredible. Our kids (9 and 10) had an incredible time. Guides were well trained and safe. Equipment was well maintained. This is for those who enjoy adventure and heights. (Photos were taken by the staff in the training area.)
This was my first white water rafting ever and was nothing short of amazing. Our guide was super awesome and we couldn't have asked for a better person to lead us down the river safely. Our whole boat crew worked really well together and didn't flip the boat (as we seen one do, and luckily no one was hurt). Thank you Gabe for making it a great experience for everyone on our crew and teaching us about the river, oh and by the way, awesome backflip off the boat lol. Thank you to all the staff for being so polite and helping everyone get geared up and staying safe, also being very helpful with questions. Keep putting smiles on peoples faces. We will be back in the future. Your friends from Louisville, Ky Regina and Derrick.

We had the best time rafting with Big Creek Expeditions! Our rafting guide, Judd, was helpful and informative. The bathroom/shower/changing areas were decent sized and clean. We will definitely book with them again.
Our group of 10 had an amazing time! Our guide Joey was so friendly, so knowledgeable and such a kind, patient guide. We did the lower float and we all said that we'd love to go back one day and do the upper tour. Definitely an experience we'll all remember.
Big Creek Expeditions was AMAZING!!! We had a group of 9 people ranging in ages from 8-66. We opted for the upper pigeon river and every person had a blast. The guides were amazing, the entire staff is friendly and the gift shop was reasonably priced. Get the photos… they do not disappoint!!! Big thanks to Darryl and Judd for making this the best activity for all of us. We can’t wait to come visit again :)
We wanted to do a rafting trip while some family was in town. Big Creek Expeditions couldn’t have been better. Jason was our guide and he was excellent both in knowledge and experience. The gift shop has an amazing selection of tee shirts (comfort colors) and hats. The restrooms and changing rooms were very clean. It was a perfect day and everyone had a blast, even the ones who had never been on a river before. Thanks everyone for an unforgettable experience!! See y’all next time.
We had an AMAZING time on the river with Paul. He was fun, kind, knowledgeable and super engaging. Our family would raft with Paul again any day of the week! Highly recommend Big Creek for your next adventure!!
This was my family’s first time rafting with Big Creek Expeditions. We thought they were excellent! Our guide Elton knew a lot about the area which made the rafting experience more interesting. The rapids were great and we definitely hit some good waves. We would recommend this company to anyone looking for a fun rafting experience!
The staff were extremely kind and helpful and the facilities were wonderful! They had nice showers, changing facilities, and bathrooms for your return from the river. Our guide Mark was phenomenal and tailored the experience to both our desire for a more intense experience but also our safety. As tourists, he gave us a lot of information about the area that we wouldn’t have known before. I can’t recommend this company enough!
Went rafting here for the first time and let me tell you 100% worth setting the time aside to do this. Our guide Jason was not only fun, but also was clearly knowledgeable about the area and history. Which made the experience not only entertaining, but partially educational as well. The ride itself was great having some thrilling sections, but our guide always made us feel safe. Specifically wanted to leave a review because after seeing some of the other local companies in the water, it was clear that Big Creek’s guides seemed more experienced and better prepared.

We had an absolutely amazing time with big Bear Rafting. A warm and welcoming staff greeted us as we walked in. Making the reservation and filling out the waiver online was super easy and saved us time. Our raft guide Ashley was "AMAZING"!!! She was great and giving instructions and making sure we had a safe and very fun ride down the river. She didn't hesitate to joke around and have fun with us....and to shout instructions when we needed to be prepared for the next set of rapids. She may look small but she was able to get my 6'3" 285lb frame out of the water and back into the raft 👏 💪 Her momma definitely did a great job raising this one. We even got to meet her dog afterwards. Thank you Ashley for making Maxine's first rafting trip one to remember! Thank you Big Bear for hiring an amazing group of river guides. Cheers!!! Mike and Maxine
This is a must do!! We had so much fun. Our guide was amazing. We have not stopped talking about how much fun we had. Even my nephew who never smiles, was smiling the whole time. Don't miss out on doing this. The cost was very reasonable and well worth it! Thank you for providing such a great rafting experience!!!
Priceless family fun that far exceeded our entire family’s expectations all bc of the incredible staff! We had Grandparents, Parents and kids….the guides were super friendly but demonstrated a strong focus on safety first, were very professional and from start to finish….they gave us memories that will last a lifetime. They found out my niece was celebrating her 22nd bday and the guides literally stopped the entire river full of rafts and got everyone singing happy birthday! Every group was laughing, splashing each other and embracing the entire experience!
We had the BEST time water rafting with Big Bear Water Rafting! Our group of 6 couldn’t stop smiling the entire trip. The scenery was absolutely stunning, the water was thrilling but safe, and everything felt well-organized from start to finish. Our guide, Montana, was phenomenal! Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable about rafting and safety, but she also had such a fun and engaging personality that kept us laughing and enjoying ourselves the whole way down the river. She struck the perfect balance between adventure and making sure everyone felt comfortable, no matter their experience level.
July 2022 I was truck driving and for the first time in 25 years my wife went with me. We had a great time. Big Bear was AWESOME!!! We had the most remarkable and memorable day. Spent most the day rafting. It wasn't very busy at all it was just my wife, the guide and one other person in our raft. I went over the side of the raft to swim in a very long calm area and the water was comfortable. Anyways the guides, some are young but don't let that fool you, they are good at their job and know what their doing. Our guide that day was mid 20's I wish I could remember his name to post it. He was fun. Big Bear is so much fun! I'll try to find videos from my go pro and post them when I do.
What an EXPERIENCE and ADVENTURE! Was on our bucket list and couldn’t have been a better experience. Thank you Koda for an amazing experience as a guide! This was my sister and I’s first time rafting. He explained everything so we understood in full and practiced before heading out. I love the pictures to capture the experience, from booking online to check in to hitting the water, it was all smooth!
We had a great time with 4 adults and 3 kids (7,9,11) on the lower river. Gracie Cooper made our day, and was an excellent raft guide. Thanks again Gracie!
It was our family’s first time rafting- mom, dad, grandma and 2 kids 13 years old. We were vacationing from Texas and found Big Bear on Groupon. After purchasing the Upper Pigeon on Groupon it was very easy calling and scheduling our time slot. On the bus ride from the outpost to the river the crew went over safety and kept us laughing the whole time. Our guide Sam was awesome! Super knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience feel safe and unforgettable. This was a major highlight of our summer vacation!

We loved our rafting adventure- the staff made it super fun for all ages. The river was beautiful and we loved the views. ( a little difficult to find on the GPS - and lots of rafting companies- so make sure you find the right one. Rip is across the river )
This was absolutely the highlight of our trip! I am so glad I trusted the other reviews and chose Rip Roaring Adventures to be our guide company on the river. The trip was made so perfect because of our guide Shealy! Ask for him! He has almost 20 years experience guiding white water rafting and he has knowledge beyond the local area and suggested other places in the US to go. He is a also a veteran. He was also so funny but serious when we needed to be. We laughed so much the whole trip. He taught us a lot about general rafting safety too. I felt completely safe with him guiding us. I booked a different second tour on this trip and cancelled it and rebooked so I could go with Shealy again. The second trip with him was completely different and just as fun if not better as he changed some things up for us. They also take photos for you that you can buy so you don’t have to take your phone out. I loved that! I will absolutely be back and can’t wait to be back in the river again.
By far the best experience I’ve had in my life! It was my husband & I’s first time white water rafting. J money 💰 was the best guide without a doubt. He got us pumped up & gave us a ride we will never forget!
My family had an amazing experience that we will remember forever! Booking the trip online was very easy. Danaconda was our river guide and he made the adventure spectacular with his humor, river knowledge, and 9 years guide experience. We felt safe at all times and the views were incredible too. The Pigeon Forge river has a beautiful rock bottom and clear water, you don’t get out of it feeling dirty. We had so much fun we almost did it a second time on our trip. This outfit is exceptional as they only hire extremely experienced guides and they don’t over fill their rafts. Look no further if you are trying to decide which outfit to book and be sure to ask for Dan!
We had a BLAST at Rip Roaring Adventures with our raft guide Scooty P! Not going to lie, when I saw that we were getting the young guide, I was like Oh Lord hopefully he knows what he’s doing! Scooty P def knows his stuff! He made sure we were informed about everything we would need to know for our raft trip and he also went out of his way to make sure we all had a good time! I was also impressed with all the knowledge he shared about Tennessee and it’s environments. I really liked that he shared the little story about how his parents first met and about them being raft guides as well! Cool history! You can tell he’s an all around good guy and rafting with Rip Roaring Adventures is so much fun! You will not regret it, they’re a fun group of people!😎
First time rafting and we picked the right company and had the best guide. Many thanks to Joe for a wonderful trip, from encouraging my daughter at the start of the trip and answering ALL my son’s questions the entire trip. The rapids were exciting and the entire trip was the highlight of our Tennessee vacation
Fantastic white water rafting!! Our guide Nolan McDermott, was exceptional!! He was the absolute best of the best!! We had a blast!! So much fun, laughter, excitement and joy whitewater rafting with Nolan at the helm! We will definitely be back! Thank you!!
My daughter and I had an excellent time! Our guide was Dave, and he was truly amazing. There are a lot of rafting companies in the area. After seeing all the guides with Rip Roaring Adventures, and then seeing the guides and operations of the other companies, all I can say is yeah.. Rip Roaring is the way! All the guides were very knowledgeable, they are all very approachable and professional, and, unlike some other companies we saw out there, all of our rafts kept the people inside.. There was literally an eddie we stopped in to watch the other companies rafts go through the rapids we just did, flawlessly, it was quite amusing, to say the least. Rip Roaring is definitely a step above the rest. The price is good, staff is friendly, it is a great experience, what more could you ask for?

We had a wonderful trip down the river with Jay . He was extremely experienced and friendly and made me so confortable with my 3 young boys on the rafting experience. All the staff was friendly and it was very organized. Its a smaller operation and they really make you feel welcome . We hope we get to come back some day !
100/10 recommend them!! Out of all the rapid tours around, they clearly knew the water best and always found the best routes to take. All the guides were hilarious, professional, and made safety a top priority. We had Dan as our guide—he was super knowledgeable, and not a single person fell out of the raft! I always love supporting local businesses, and they truly were the best. Don’t hesitate—book with them!
We had the best time with Miss Em and Presley!! They were very knowledgeable about the river and rafting. Made everyone comfortable. Had 2 older women(60’s and 70’s), one a first timer. We had a group of 7 total, everyone enjoyed the day!! Everyone at rapid expeditions was very accommodating and helpful! I highly recommend a trip down the river with rapid expeditions!!
My family had their first white water rafting experience on the upper Pigeon river on 8/30 with rapid expeditions and I cannot stress enough that you should go no where else. We genuinely enjoyed our experience so much, we went back the next day! Let me start by saying we have a 10 year old daughter, and rapid expeditions took safety very seriously. Our first trip down the river was with guide Wiik who was so calm, and patient with our inexperience. (Yes that’s his name, and no he doesn’t have a speech impediment lol ifykyk) We at no point felt that no safety measures or in-case scenarios were not covered. Never did my daughter feel uncomfortable. He even gave us an amazing hiking trail suggestion! Since the afternoon floats had booked up since we were on our trip, and we were waiting to see how comfortable my daughter was with the trip, the gentleman offered us to float again the next day. Our second experience was with Captain Dan, who is a hoot! Also, it was very clear he was highly respected by fellow guides from other companies. Since we had a little experience with the day before, he taught us a couple different paddling techniques and hit a few bigger waves. He was VERY informative of the area and natural history of the river. I would also like to praise guide Miss ‘Em for her welcoming demeanor. She has impeccable customer service, and several times checked on my daughter, or went out of her way to talk to her, despite neither day was in her troop. Finally, what really stood out, was the love this company has for the River and people in general. They were always quick to call alert if ANYONE no matter the company fell out, and would do anything to help any floater or guide from any company that was in need. To me, that shows integrity you just don’t see anymore.
A fantastic family trip. If you are going rafting on the pigeon river I highly recommend rapid expeditions. Every staff member was warm and welcoming. We had M&M as our guide and she was awesome. Very knowledgeable and lots of fun. After everything this community has been through this past year it was awesome that they kept their heads up and continued on. We will be back soon and this is the company we will definitely raft with. Also they had the best value money wise. Thank you guys for a great day.
This was our first time white water rafting, but will definitely not be our last! Captain Dan was a great river guide and kept us all safe through the rapids. My daughter and son even took a cool dip in the river through a calm section of our trip.
I was a little worried being that it began to rain heavily during our booking and the water was very choppy. However, that made the experience way more fun! Ms.M was the absolute best guide and we’ll be requesting her for our next tour! Thank you so much for this experience! 10/10
What an absolutely phenomenal experience! Ms M (Emily Cox), and Mr J (John), were the best guides, amazing with our kids, funny, adventurous, great storytellers & entertaining throughout the excursion. We felt safe and excited the entire time. The company is top notch in their safety and training protocols. Definitely loved the small business type feel versus some of the larger, more well known companies. Highly recommend! Team Fruity Pebbles baby!! 🫶🏽🤘🏽🤙🏽🌊🚣🏽‍♀️🏔️

Although we couldn’t do the upper because of I 40 being closed we still had an amazing time! Ryan was the best with his funny dad jokes and just great attitude. He made it so fun for the kids. We all had fun and definitely recommend this place.
Man o man where can I start. For the 1st time white water rafting I would have to say me and my children met WILL and had a blast. My kids loved every minute of it and would totally recommend Will to guide your water adventure. I would give him more than 5 stars. He was very polite, trust worthy, and most of all made it FUN AND ADVENTUROUS
This was my first time going rafting and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip! We were a group of 17 Lady Veterans and some of us had been rafting before and some had never been before. Willie was the guide for my boat and he was phenomenal!! He made sure we understood all of the safety instructions and worked together as a team to keep us safe and that we had fun!! We did the Lower Little Pigeon River and it was beautiful. We also were able to leave all of the technology behind and enjoy nature and the company of friends & fellow lady veterans. I highly recommend 5 Rivers Adventures and i will be returning to experience the Upper Little Pigeon River!
Brought the family to pigeon Forge for the week and decided to go Whitewater rafting. My wife found five rivers adventures and booked an excursion for nine of us. I was very nervous, I am not by any means the picture of being in shape. Shortly, after starting, we had our first major rapid and I fell in. Everything we went over in the safety course fell out of my thinking process and logic no longer existed. All of that said our guide, Chuck went into action and pulled me back into the boat and I’m honestly very grateful for it and I don’t think I would’ve had the time that I had had he not been our guide. Looking at the pictures, I can honestly say I am very grateful for Chuck in his experience. Getting this out-of-the-way within the first 10 minutes of our trip allowed for us to really enjoy the rest of the ride down the river. It is an experience I will never forget in a very grateful and thankful that I did it. And I’m glad we booked with five rivers and I’m even more thankful we had Chuck for our guide! I definitely give this five stars and hope to be back again someday soon!
Willie our guide was awesome. Was our first time white water rafting and he made it pleasant experience. He is fun; outgoing; experienced and patient. Entire staff was great for all that matter from reception/reporting; hilarious safety brief and road trip to start point. They may not be the biggest outfit but I feel they make up for it with a very personal experience. We would definitely use 5 Rivers again. Thanks!
Willie is a fantastic guide and made sure we were thoroughly splashed and safe at the same time! Our family of 6 booked a whitewater adventure with 5 Rivers Adventures this past summer and had a blast! The company prepares its guides very well, and they entertain you during the entire adventure. Our guide, Willie, was excellent and incredibly knowledgeable about the river. I highly recon this company! Thank you, Willie!
We had an amazing experience with 5 Rivers Adventures! Our guide, Journey, was absolutely wonderful. She not only made the trip fun and safe, but also educational for my three homeschool teens. She asked thoughtful questions to get to know our family and answered all of ours with so much knowledge and expertise. It’s clear she has years of experience on rivers in multiple states, and it really showed. Her boyfriend Austin was also guiding another boat and was just as great — they’re the cutest couple and made the whole experience even more enjoyable! What I really appreciated about 5 Rivers is that while they may not have all the “bells and whistles” of some of the bigger rafting companies on the Pigeon River, what they do have are seasoned, highly skilled guides with extensive experience at every level. That’s what makes the trip special. One tip for future rafters: tips are very appreciated, since that’s where the guides earn most of their income. We felt our guides were more than deserving! Highly recommend this company if you want a genuine, personal, and memorable rafting trip.
Willie is an incredible guide! Just got back from our trip with Willie and he knew exactly how to read our group to tailor-fit the experience accordingly. He is very knowledgeable and experienced and made us first-timers very comfortable and calm. Would highly recommend to go with Willie!

The moonshine at bootleggers is the best moonshine hands down. It tastes natural and has so many good flavors. Apple pie (by far the best apple pie), peach, lemon drop, etc. and their solid food items, like the dill pickles. Please ignore any negative reviews as if you try it here there is no way one would agree and the master distiller is friendly, easy to talk to, and extremely knowledgeable. 10/10 and the single best thing in the whiskey trail as well. Only thing is be aware as the inside smells like a distillery which isn’t a down side, just something to be aware of.
Moonshine was superb! The guy doing the tastings also gave us a tour of the facility since we were the only ones there. It was educational and fun! Try the jalapeño moonshine for the shine but then eat the peppers too! Small place off the beaten path but well worth the trip.
When you get to “SAMPLE” what you sip on, it makes the experience even more enjoyable. Welcomed in like we were neighbors. Left with a few souvenirs to enjoy back home
I've been coming here since it was a rinky dink little shack- but it's not rinky dink anymore, it's filled ita briches out, and may need to upsize in scale. Some good moonshine, with a special tribute whisky named Helene, with a percentage of proceeds goes to help locals. I love this place, free testing or pay a little for even more samples. Nice merch that I can actually see people wearing. I've come back here for years, and I will continue to come back for years more.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bootleggers Distillery is hands-down one of the best distillery experiences in Tennessee! Derek and Shannon were great from the moment we walked in — they’re knowledgeable, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. The moonshine here is the smoothest and truest flavor I’ve ever tasted, with no harsh burn, just pure, authentic taste. You can tell it’s crafted with care and tradition. If you want real Tennessee moonshine, this is the place. Highly recommend!
Derek and River are a dynamic duo. The pup greets you and checks ID's. Derek serves up top notch service with a smile. They have a delicious and diverse selection. Remember to pace yourself with the samples because they will creep up. But it's so worth it. Bootleggers repeat customer three years strong.
I had a dog and pack just coming off the Appalachian Trail. I had got a ride to this joint and let me tell what. This is very dog friendly heck they got dog there named River that loves to be pet and is very friendly with other dogs my dog honestly doesn't get along with other dog meet this one it was all good. Now, first entrance, they offered me 3 free samples of there shine they got some beautiful shine and tastful too. The management was extremely kind to me, seeing that I didn't have enough to pay excepted it all, and I was on my way. This is a very simple and special place for the drinker inside all of us ❤️.
The owner actually served us and was super knowledgeable and quite generous. We were there as a group and spent quite some time there. We saw three moonshine places while visiting Gatlinburg and this was by far our favorite. It's out of the way, but worth it.

We did the guided walking tour today, and let me tell you it was well worth the 1.5 hour drive from Nashville. We got to see, do and learn new things about Jack Daniel’s and the process of making their products. Our tour guide Amy was awesome and she made the tour experience that much better. A must see and do if you are a Tennessee local or visitor. I also recommend checking out the gift shop which is located in the town square. I picked up a new favorite piece of furniture for our house ;-)
I arrived around 10:15am on a Sunday and easily signed up for the next tour starting in 10-15 minutes. It was a warm day, but comfortable in the shade. The tour guide was extremely friendly and provided great information. There are no restrooms during the tour, so definitely use the restroom before going on the 1hr45min tour. Easy drive from Nashville. Tasting is included and there’s an optional slushee for $10 you can purchase ahead of time. There’s also optional engraved bottles and photos you can buy too. I had lunch on the town right next to the distillery. Recommend if you have a day to spare!
This place is just so cool… even if you don’t drink whiskey, you learn some neat history of the area. Plus the property is just beautiful. And the tour guides are wonderful…they clearly love what they do and the company they work for. The experience is really worth the time and money.
Our tour guide Courtney was great. She was very knowledgeable. Very friendly great tour. Would come back again. Originally I didn't want to come due to it being a 4 hour drive from where we were staying I have never been happier with my husband convincing me to do something.
Five Stars All Day Long! Our visit to the Jack Daniel’s Distillery during the World Championship Invitational BBQ event was absolutely amazing! While you do need to make reservations for the Distillery Tours well in advance for this busy weekend, it was so worth the effort. Everything was incredibly well organized — from the layout of the grounds to the seamless flow of the tours — and the food at the BBQ Event was simply mouth watering! A special shoutout to Angela G. at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop, who truly went above and beyond! She not only educated us on the different Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskeys available that day but also helped us secure a limited-edition bottle, all with an infectious smile and genuine enthusiasm. Could not recommend the White Rabbit Bottle Shop and the Distillery Tour enough. An unforgettable experience from start to finish
The tour is informative about the whiskey making process and there’s a lot of history behind the distillery itself. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and the whiskey tasting at the end is the cherry on top. It’s totally worthwhile if you’re passing through Lynchburg.
Fantastic experience - guide offered many anecdotes about Jack Daniels and the border southern whisky makers. Beautiful grounds, Note barrel making is off site and process shown via short video. Also, bottling lines are not operational on the weekends. Items prohibited on tour can be left in free lockers.
Not just a great tour but a must for whiskey lovers and enthusiasts. Even if you know nothing about the whiskey or Mr. Daniel, the tour will shed some light about the distillery. I know all the guides are good but shoutout to our guide Matt, as he was very knowledgeable and entertaining while showing us around the grounds.
