My recent two-canyon whitewater rafting adventure on Six Mile Creek was truly outstanding. The guides exemplified professionalism, competence, and confidence, ensuring a safe and exhilarating experience. Prior to the trip, they provided comprehensive training and a swim test to confirm that all participants were water-ready and composed. Our guide, Matt, a.k.a “Popcorn,” brought nearly two decades of expertise to the helm. His serene demeanor and precise instructions instilled confidence. The guides’ teamwork was excellent (particularly during instances when participants found themselves unexpectedly in the water) with dedicated shore and raft rescuers coordinating efficiently. The service was excellent from start to finish. Post-trip, the availability of hot showers, hot cocoa, and a relaxing hot tub pushed the experience to another level. Chugach Outdoor Center has earned my highest recommendation for a phenomenal rafting adventure delivered with outstanding care and professionalism.
We did the nature float with our kiddo. It was beautiful, but I think we will definitely be ready for the white water the next time. The guides were great. They were very personable. Lots of wildflowers along the float.
What an AMAZING day on the river! We did all three canyons and had a blast! Our guide was popcorn and his instruction and skill is unrivaled. You are in great hands here! If you listen to their instruction you will have a safe and thrilling day! This is truly the best white water in Alaska. Be sure to get your photos at the end as they came out amazing and you can relive your adventure when you get home! 10/10 experience at a 10/10 outfitter!
We did the Six Mile Creek Three Canyon whitewater trip. Great experience and a thrilling paddle. Would definitely do it again! The guides were great and worked hard to make sure everyone was safe and had fun. Top notch outfitter!
It was a wonderful experience. We extended to the three canyon trip, it was a great time. Our guide Popcorn was an expert driver, and very knowledgeable of the river. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for some challenging adventures. Kylie took great pictures. Tommy was right there ready to help if needed.
What a rad experience! We ran all three canyons on Six Mile Creek at high water with Chugach Outdoor Center. It was phenomenal. Our guide was Sanders Pearsall and he expertly navigated our raft through the Strong Class III - V whitewater on one of Alaska’s most intense and technical whitewater runs. Six Mile Creek is renowned in the whitewater community, and this was an unforgettable experience that our group will never forget. Thanks to the whole Chugach Outdoor Center team for a fun, safe, and overall amazing trip!
Amazing experience! I can't recommend Six Mile and the Chugach Outdoor Center highly enough. The whitewater is world-class, the river is spectacular, and the guides perfectly balanced safety with a wicked good time. A must-do Alaskan whitewater experience.
I highly recommend Chugach Outdoor Center for whitewater rafting. It's an exciting ride and all of the guides do an excellent job of educating and preparing guests for the adventure to ensure safety and preparedness for all. The equipment is top-notch and the service couldn't be better. Don't miss out on an amazing journey down the Six Mile!

Jason did a great job from the booking thru the float. He was very honest on what to expect and set us up for a very successful trip. We had many personal best. His advise on the float was Steller! His cabin was very comfortable and was a perfect location for us. With many trips behind me at age 60 Jason rates up at the top. First class guide and I am planning more trips with him in the future.
For transparency sake I will say Jason is my brother-in-law (Husband of sister-in-law). That being said I had never been to Alaska or done anything like this. Well, I was lucky enough to get this experience and It was one of the best times of my life! Jason is clearly an expert river navigator and for me it would be worth it just for the boat ride and the beauty of the nature. But the experience is fishing and we killed it! We went a little later in the morning so we went trout fishing and we couldn't keep the beautiful rainbows off the hook. Jason was such a great guide and for me a teacher. At the end my wife even nailed a beautiful chrome sockeye salmon that was too big for the trout set-up we had. Jason's expertise was able to coach her during the battle of the salmon on 7lb test line. It was big enough for family dinner. We saw a bear, countless eagles and unbelievable views of Alaska. I could go on and on, It was really unforgettable in every good way possible.
We had the best time fishing with Jake on our honeymoon. He was so friendly, patient and fun to be with that we didn't want the day to end. We caught TONS of fish and laughed the entire time doing it. Thanks to Jake, we have some coho to bring home and enjoy for a long, long time. I can't say enough about the fantastic experience we had thanks to Jake and Jason.
Hands down the BEST guide service ever! Jason is so patient and thorough! He teaches you the moment you step foot in the boat. We learned everything from the wildlife around us to how to drift fish with a fly rod like a pro! We also stayed in his cabin which is accommodating and cozy! We can’t wait to book another trip back to Alaska to fish with him again!
Had a really great time with them on the river. Taught us many things and saw beautiful scenery. Need to bring my wife next time.
Jason was outstanding as our guide. Very knowledgeable in every way as he not only knows were the best fishing spots are but also teaches the best techniques for this style of fly fishing. Has relaxed, easy going personality and a pleasure to be with. Dennis and Mike
Angle 45 had to have been one of my most memorable vacations. Jason was an incredible host and made us feel so welcome. Our adventure on the Kenai River was indescribable. Jason had so much patience with our group and by the time we left we all felt like seasoned anglers. Hope to return someday.
I had such an amazing time fishing with Jake. He was super friendly and taught us a lot about the fish & some of the tips and tricks he's learned over the years. I would HIGHLY recommend these guys to anyone looking to really have fun. It was funny when we finished the day and caught ~40 fish between two people and then talked other people when we were pulling the boat out and they caught 2.

The buildings were especially interesting. We really enjoyed the one that told about the teacher and how he taught eight children and his small one room home in the early 1900s. The ice cream store just outside. The museum was also really really good. We had the chocolate covered cheesecake ice cream. Oink oink.
Small but adorable museum that teaches you about the history of the town. Each building has an audio description that is very detailed with great sound. It’s a free museum, but you can give a donation if you wish.
This place was SO COOL!! There was lots to see, great informational signs, a video (though we didn't stay to watch) and a very smart and kind young man being a tour guide. You can tell the town has really put effort into making this museum. I absolutely recommend you visit if you're in the area. Even if you are just traveling by on the Stirling Hwy, make the 15 mile trip. It's worth it!
I'm giving them five because it is such a great effort in such a small place. Nice artifacts, and Dawn was very informative and friendly. Hope is really a tiny even anachronistic place. We enjoyed our little tour there.
Really enjoyed 😉 ☺️ 😊 👌 😀 🙂
Great visit and I learned a lot. Wish my kids would have let me spend more time looking around.
Had a nice time learning the history of Hope. Walked around the old buildings as well. Very cool.. that school was so tiny!
We really enjoyed this museum! We were super impressed by it, considering how small of a town Hope is and that it's donation based (make sure to donate!). We had a ton of fun walking around the buildings outside, which all had really interesting items, plus buttons you could press to hear a former resident of Hope explain their story. Definitely worth the stop in Hope, which is a super cute, very small town that we LOVED!

Awesome lil find. Very clearly family run with a bunch of kids running around. They all do their share! Great soy latte and their special was an egg cheese and sausage on a biscuit. SO good! They have espresso, a lot of milks (soy, almond, oat, coconut) and lots of flavors. Smoothies and sandwiches too!
Excellent spot for breakfast! Delicious homemade biscuits and baked goods and their smoothies are so good! Wonderful coffee and the owner along with her team are all incredibly friendly. Woodsy, quiet, quaint atmosphere. Such a delight! Highly recommend.
This is the best coffee and breakfast sandwiches we have had in all of Alaska. Well roasted and brewed beans, outstanding biscuits, top notch friendly staff. We will be coming back and so should you! Hours on Google are incorrect but the photo included is accurate as of 7/3/24
Turnagain Kayak & Coffee House was our go to for breakfast and coffee the morning of our daughter's wedding and they did not disappoint! Jess was great to work with and let us place our order the day before so we could pick it up the morning of the wedding. Everything was hot and fresh when we arrived and their timely preparation helped us stick to a tight schedule on such a busy, special day! Absolutely a must stop while in Hope!
Stopped for a delicious coffee and a baked good. We got the cinnamon knot and very yummy. All the rest of the food looked good too. They are a walk up and order place with a couple of tables under a outdoor cover.
Coffee was great the sandwich was awesome and I bought a couple of baked goods Tess the girl working at the counter apparently is there a new baker. I purchased a cranberry bog bar she makes from scratch, it was delicious!!! Prices were also reasonable! I have lived in Alaska for 40 years plus I’ve never been to Hope, I am so glad I went there it’s a neat little town and not that far from Anchorage worth the drive, beautiful scenery and Super friendly locals. I will return!!!
Such a cute, unique little find. The service was so personable and friendly. My friend absolutely fell in love with the gluten free muffins. The Breve was one of the best I have had. Hope to return soon.
We’ve loved Turnagain Kayak since they opened, but the food and coffee this year are beyond wonderful. Freshly baked warm blueberry muffins, moist and still warm from the oven with plump and plentiful berries are a new favorite. And their coffee is amazing! Plus they’re super-nice folks in Hope, AK. What could be better?!?!
