This experience was amazing!!!!!!!! We did the ropes course before rafting. The ropes course was a lot of fun! It was not busy and there were challenges for all skill levels. We had Justin Brown as a guide for rafting and he was the best. We did get stuck at one point but it’s because we were just messing around a lot (this was the best part of the trip). The waves are super high at the end of May/early in the summer!
I was really looking forward to going white water rafting, especially after speaking with the gentleman on the phone. He was patient, informative, and took the time to answer all my questions, which gave me a lot of confidence before we even got there. When we arrived, the three ladies at the sign-in shack were just as friendly and helpful. What stood out most to me was how focused they were on making sure everyone understood the process—not just for fun, but also from a safety standpoint. I really appreciated the way the staff in kayaks guided us, giving us clear heads-ups and reminders throughout the trip. That kind of attention helped a ton. The experience itself was absolutely exhilarating—riding through the rapids with friends was so wonderful. Our guides, Margo and Thea, were incredible. They were both friendly and supportive the whole time. At one point, during the last rapid, my friend lost his balance and fell into me, and almost knocking me out of the raft. Thankfully, Margo and my wife reacted quickly and grabbed me before I went overboard. Special thanks to Margo for that! Honestly, the whole trip was so much fun I was ready to go again immediately, but we had to check in our hotel and grab dinner. I just wanted to say thank you to the entire team, especially Margo and Thea, for making our first rafting adventure such a great one. We’ll definitely be back soon.
We had a blast rafting on Mother's Day! The water was cold, but the sun was out and we all had a great time. Some of us even swam for fun! The guides were very informative which helped ease the concerns that some of our group had. We had good, clear instructions which allowed our group to have en enjoyable time on the raft. We did the upper St. Louis river and flows were reasonably high!
I have yet to go to Swift Waters, but I can confirm the customer service is good. I did schedule for tomorrow and the weather was looking cold. My friend is sensitive to the cold but we were past the refund / cancel window. I called yesterday and left a voicemail. Today, a day before our reservation, Cliff with Swift Waters emailed me letting me know he cancelled the reservation and issued a refund. That’s great customer service, and we are excited to check it out later in the summer. Thanks Swift crew.
We had a wonderful Father's Day trip at Swiftwater Adventures! Our guide Fletcher was super knowledgeable about the St Louis River and our tour and the scenery was amazing! Highly recommend and we plan to ride the waves again. Thank you Swiftwater!
Could not have asked for a better intro to whitewater rafting then Swiftwater provided. It was fun, well organized, safe, and a perfect day trip. Cheers to the staff, especially Bruce, for ensuring we had a memorable experience.
What an amazing experience! We had an 8 year old with us and he did great, our guide Siri was very professional, respectful, and knowledgeable!! Recommend 10/10! We will be back!
Really fun! The only thing I am complaining about is the description on the website. Most of the guides are around 16 years old when on the website it said the guides had 30+ years of experience. Also there are different sized tubes, so if you get the bigger sized tube you aren’t going to feel as much rapids as the smaller sizes, which unfortunately was what happened with my trip. Also just to mention, there are like 5 rapids total. Still, I think it’s a decent price for what it was. Everyone’s super nice here.

Beautiful state park. Hiking is awesome and the river rapids area is stunning. Our dogs loved swimming in the shallow pools that form. Campground areas were great. Bathrooms are updated and super clean. Staff was very friendly. Will visit again for sure!
Simply beautiful area, really amazing rock formations and river views. Thomas graveyard is a blast from the past, I really enjoy visiting the century old Graves and walking the less crowded trail. I also drove up to a few outlooks and enjoyed the drive from south to north.
The perfect location for a state park that isn’t on the North shore. Nestles right before you head into Duluth, with the Saint Louis ripping right through it. I’ve been here many times on my way to/ from Duluth but this visit was special. On a weekday, low visitors and peak fall colors. It was stunning. Plenty of places to pull over and park to view the views
Love this park. Great unique rock structures, plenty of rapids to see. Short gentle hike to get upriver. Less able hikers can take the well manicured path. More able hikers can take the roots and rocks path. Cool bridge over the river does bounce a bit.
We only had a short time to spend in the park. Took the road into the park and stopped at the Old River Inn. Walked over the suspension bridge and took some pics. For those with little ones, some of the rocks are slippery and sharp. Would love to go back and explore more.
Great place to visit or camp. Early August the bugs were not bad. 🦟🪰The campsite🏕 we were at was perfect. Flat, lots of space and close to both the water and the latrine. Each site was full so it was a bit loud at night. Tons of hikioptions for both short and longer distances. The swinging bridge was crowded even on a Monday late morning/ mid-day. There was a place you could plug in your phone charger🤳 by the bathrooms. Showers were nice, hot water. The naturalist did some fun info activities. 🦔 Best part was if you happen to forget your tent poles like I did you only have to travel 15 minutes to the nearest Walmart for a new tent. ⛺️
Spectacular and fascinating geological scenery. Extremely well-maintained park and friendly staff. The facilities at the park are more modern and easy to use. Trail options are plenty!
We loved our visit but were surprised when we showed up it said the park was full and to come back another time. We ended up taking the Munger trail in and we often were the only ones on trail so I'm not sure how it was "full"? Maybe it was just the parking lot?

Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. One of the things we appreciate most when staying in a hotel is when they do not have the room doors that slam shot. The buffet on Saturday nights is excellent. I don’t think I have ever had a better buffet selection. The food was all good. The staff and service was excellent from the time we checked in until the time we checked out. Last but certainly not least we accidentally left two jackets in our room when we checked out. We live down in Minneapolis And it would have been a very long drive to drive back up there and then back home just to pick up our coats. Thankfully, the staff was able to mail our jackets back to us, which was really appreciated. Thank you Black Bear Casino for everything. We will definitely be staying there again..
Always have a good time going to the Black Bear casino. The buffet is very good, with rotating days. The deli is also very good, with great Waffles. The machines are fun, and kept clean. Never had a problem with staff. Attended my first real concert here on 6/13/25. Saw ZZTop. Had an amazing time!
I completely enjoy Black Bear Casino. The people that work there provide excellent, hometown customer care that you just don't get in large cities, yet you get that big casino feel with all the bangs and whistles! The food is great, and I believe my fun waiting staff has something to do with it, every time! I have fun playing, and it's a great night out for my fiance and I every time. Thanks Black Bear Casino, you do it right! (P. S. I've never stayed in a room due to being local, but I gave it all props anyway).
Wonder buffet. Prime rib was excellent, asked for rare, and that's exactly what I got. Staff was extremely kind and helpful when I stopped for the night to avoid driving in fog. I will stop here on my next trip up north.
We stayed there for 2 nights. Tues & Wed nights. We've never been there and will not return. It wasn't a big deal that there is no valet or bell hop, or restaurants open, or pull tabs were closed, and so was the bar. It was more about how unfriendly the entire staff was we encountered. Check- in staff didn't say a word to us, just literally handed us our room keys. When we finally were able to eat at the buffet, they asked us how we intended to tip our waitress!!! If we were going to put it on our card as we were paying to eat, or if we were leaving cash on our table!!! Not only were we not allowed to seat ourselves at the buffet but we waited at least 10 min before we were brought to a table, even tho there was no line!! We counted 4 different staff members step over a huge pile of piss at one of the buffet tables. We know it was piss since we seen an elderly man do it!! We found children's toys left under a chair in our room. How the house keeping missed such a big toy while "cleaning" I guess we'll never know. The staff is lazy and unfriendly. This was our 1st and very last stay. Very disappointing, we love getting away and staying at casinos. This is one we just won't be adding to our list.
This was our first stop on our vacation, one night. Great staff, check in was quick and easy. The casino is large, great selection of all the new slots, card tables. The gift shop has a great selection of snacks, necessity items and of course nice gift items as well with a friendly staff.
I visited the Black Bear with family to eat at their buffet. WOW! It was amazing. The prime rib was great. A lot of great food. Good service for as many people as we had. Played blackjack and I have never played with free splits and doubles. It made for a great game. Winning always helps as well. Everyone in my family won. The casino was clean and is very fun. We will return when in the area.
Checked into kiosk for Thurs all you can eat buffet. Waited too long and when we finally got into eat, the crab legs were a disappointment ( we have had crab legs all over the US.) They were over steamed too much. There was also no buns or bread. Over all driving 3 hours we would 2 out of 10...

We decided that we needed an afternoon snack after hiking at Jay Cooke State Park. Streetcar Kitchen was the perfect spot. We picked the Walleye Basket and French Fries with a side order of Pineapple Slaw. Everything was served up hot and fresh. Our server Alyssa made us feel so welcomed. Always a warm smile and friendly service. She was the best. If we lived in the area, we most certainly would become regular customers. Perhaps we can squeeze in one more meal before we leave town.
Went to a state park nearby and saw they had good reviews. Went in. Its seat yourself. Server helped immediately. Great service and food choices.
So, we had a really great experience the first time we went to Streetcar. We loved our food and had a great experience. Unfortunately, the second time we went, our food really sucked. The cook left my walleye strips in the deep fryer so long that they were hard as a rock. We knocked them on the table to demonstrate to the waitress how hard they were. They were harder than my knuckles. Really was disappointing that the dish was $20 and cooked so poorly. The waitress was really nice and offered us a $10 gift card for the crappy food. I just don't understand how you can see such overcooked food and send it out anyway. In my line of work, if I see something that is not up to standards, I would rather waste time, materials, and money to make it right rather than presenting it to a customer. Probably won't be visiting Streetcar for a while. The total visit was close to $100 and I was left thoroughly disappointed. As a Cloquet resident, we don't have many options. I thought we found a winner with Streetcar, but was mistaken.
I wanted to like it. I brought my daughter here for lunch. We were able to find a seat shortly (it is seat yourself). It took about 10 minutes before anyone talked to us. Things seemed to go well at first. Our waitress checked in with us a couple of times in the beginning and it stopped after we ordered food. When we first arrived it was a little busy. After we placed our order, our service seemed to stop. We ordered a gyro with sweet potato fries and nachos with brisket. Despite business dying down to only a few customers, it took nearly an hour to get our food and it was noy even hot when it arrived. The gyro was barely warm and it was soggy. The gyro itself was not good for flavor and the sweet potato fries were mushy/soggy and lukewarm when I picked them up they bent and flopped. They were also wet. The dish itself was so gross that we decided to put it to the side to be thrown out. The nachos were very good however there was close to no brisket, maybe the equivalent of 3 bites sliced. I also ordered 1 seltzer. The portion of the nachos was very large. Our total came to $50 and it was NOT worth it. We were ignored by the staff the whole time. My cup was empty and nobody checked in on us at all. I eventually made eye contact with the bartender and she came over. I asked for the check and she saw the whole meal sitting on the table and asked us if we wanted a box. I explained our issues with the food and showed her the limp fries. She asked me if I wanted them to remake it, but I declined as we didn't want to wait another hour and have bad service. The bartender was very kind and apologetic which is why I gave the 2nd star for service where I would have put a single star with the overall experience we had. We will not be returning.
I ate here twice over a two day period while with family on a visit to the Blackhoof region. The Walleye Wild Rice Burger was delicious. It was busy both Friday and Saturday evenings and service was great. We stopped in with 16 family members and they were able to accommodate us! I will go again when we are back to camp.
Brought my wife here and the food was delicious. My burger was well seasoned and cooked perfectly to a medium rare without asking. I prefer rare but no ones falt but mine for not asking. Wife got a gyro and said it was great the only small complaint was the Cucumber sauce was a bit running. Had a good amount of meat on it.
Really good food pickle fries were amazing
We sat ourselves outside and no one acknowledged us for 10 minutes. I ordered the prime rib medium rare and was very disappointed. It came out completely well done, flat and full of gristle. It was nothing like what prime rib should be. I couldn’t eat it at all, yet still paid $35 for a meal I didn’t touch. Very frustrating experience and a waste of money.

I sat at the bar across the street for almost 10 minutes and was ignored. I walked into 3B and before I could sit down the lovely and friendly Christina asked what I wanted and in less than 30 seconds I had a beer and a menu. Cali Burger was great, just what I needed after a long hike.
I really enjoy the Bloody Mary bar. Pricy but worth it! The patty melt was tasty as hell. Awesome vibes here!
It is a bar with good bar food. Sometimes you go into a small town bar and they are dark and dingy. This place was very clean, even the restrooms. The service was excellent and the food was good.
Great food and great staff conversations sitting up at the bar!
This appears to be a favorite with locals. If you are looking for a fancy place, or one with lots of windows and interesting decor, you'll have to go elsewhere. It is a large bar and grill wth plenty of seating inside, out back in a patio atmosphere, or next to the parking lot on some picnic tables ( you could probably eat at these tables if you have a dog with you). Inside they have two pool tables, two electronic dart machines, and a special counter where it appeared they were selling some kind of pull-tab type gambling tickets. There are numerous large screen tv's showing sports. Popcorn was free and tasty, and they have four or five kinds of flavored toppings you can sprinkle on it if you desire ( kettle corn, caramel, cheese jalapeno, etc). We were there twice, for a late lunch at 1:15 on a Tuesday, and again at 5:30 on a Wednesday. Tuesday there were only about five patrons, but Wednesday there were about 25, and the single bartender was kept busy. The cook brings your food out when it is ready. Bartender and cook were very friendly. On Tuesday, at the bartender's suggestion, I had the Mean burger. I liked it so much I had it again on our second visit. It is about a 1/3 lb hamburger with three slices of bacon, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions and jalapenos, and with A-1 steak sauce on it. Very tasty, and supposedly one of the favorites of patrons. It was served with your choice of tarot tots, crinkle cut fries, or seasoned waffle fries. Again at the bartenders suggestion, we tried the seasoned waffle fries-- they were excellent. $7.50. Upon recommendation of the bartender my wife had the Ultimate panini. It was turkey, ham, hard salami, cheese, and yellow banana peppers. It was large and tasty. Again, served with your choice of the three types of potato. $8.00. On the second visit my wife tried the Ray's Blue Cheese and olive burger, which had a generous portion of chunky, blue cheese dressing, and green olives. It was also tasty, and about $7.50 or $8.00. They have a wide variety of burgers, paninis, burgers, and wraps. The cheapest burger and fries was $6.00. Happy hour is 3 to 6 pm and got us $1.00 off each of my wife's draft beers. Our total bill with two beers, a fountain Pepsi (free refills), and the two burger baskets with the seasoned fries, was about $19.00. We were camping at the nearby Jay Cooke State Park, but if I lived in the area this would probably become my hangout.
Only visit one weekend a year for Carlton Daze. Two nights of excellent music under an outdoor tent with a thumping sound system worthy of an outdoor event. Glad they started using the same sound system for both nights....it makes both nights worth the trip.
Stopped in here for some food during hunting season. The food was absolutely aweful. The cheese curds were still cold in the middle, the fries were saltier than the great salt flats, the mushroom Swiss burger was luke warm at best and tasted like cardboard, the meatball sub I wouldn't feed to my dog. Definitely do not recommend eating here. The dark beer was good though.
Typical small town neighborhood bar. Volleyball in summer. Decent patio.

Great friendly place! I'm a new to town vet and decided to stop in. Was greeted by a couple of guys, and met a great couple who were super nice and great to chat with. And Kendra, one of the bartenders, sure is a looker! Yowza! If you want a great atmosphere and friendly, down to earth folks who will accept you and bring you in to their little world, this is a great place of real, true Americans. Hooah!
Stopped in a few weeks ago with my husband. I can’t recall the bartenders name, I want to say Dan? He was amazing! Super accommodating, friendly and a joy to talk to! Drinks are reasonable and you can grab a pizza if you’re hungry.
Great staff and customers, the old member dudes that hang out there need to go! I'm a combat vet that should be a member, but won't because of these old fools.
Met some friends for a drink. As usual the bartenders were awsome, had a great time. Will stop again whe. In the neighborhood.
Always a good conversation with the staff here and they have two poker nights a week
Poker at 7:15pm Thursday's.. good game!!
Great dancing bands on occasion. Friendly crowd.
Nice to sit down with my fellow Lions and and BS for a bit after 3months.
