Our group enjoyed the journey up Mt Washington on the cog. We had 2 different “docents” who shared info with us on the way up and back. The first one was quite hard to hear (Pink cat) and the speaker system was not great. The second spoke louder and I caught most of the comments. Unfortunately, we went up on a cloudy day and didn’t see much once we were 1/2 way up. I believe they said this is the case about 40% of the time. The summit had nice facilities and we enjoyed a comfortable, climate controlled lunch on some of the many tables. The railcars and seats were moderately comfortable and windows could open and close. On the way down, the clouds broke and we had some lovely vires of the colorful filiale and valley below. I would love to come back again on a clear day, but we felt it was still an enjoyable ride. The timing was great I our opinion. About 45 minutes up. About 45 minutes at the summit. About 45 minutes down.
This was a fantastic experience- this group is well organized and well trained. They were informative as well as entertaining- we had a great day on the train and at the top of mount washington. Views are 360 degrees spectacular. The cog train is so unique and an engineering marvel- don’t miss the exhibit at the base station - so interesting. The seats flip over so you are facing forward in both directions- the better view is on the left side of the train going up the mountain. Would HIGHLY recommend this trip- well worth the money.
Perfect autumn day views! Everything was perfect. The directors on the cog were very educational and fun! Little shops at the top and bottom of mountain had a great selection of souvenirs. Highly reccomend if you are visiting the area!
This was a cool experience. I do think $100 per person was a little too expensive especially when you have a family. However, we didn’t regret doing it. You will learn about the history of the cog as you go up and return back down. Once at the top of Mount Washington, you will have about an hour to hangout before the next cog returns to bring you back down the mountain. Check the weather, it is drastically different from the bottom to the top. We live in a state with mountain ranges that are higher than Mount Washington. This was still very cool to do and better than expected. I gave the experience a 5 but not the price.
Well worth the money spent on the ticket for this experience. A fascinating journey into the ingenuity of the past. The 2 small museums at the bottom and summit are great but the real star is the Cog itself. A fun family trip just make sure that you dress on layers. The temp on the summit will be much colder than at the beginning of the ride.
We had a wonderful time taking the Cog Train to the summit. Our breakman was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the railway and the mountain range. It was about 30° cooler on the mountain than at the base with sustained winds of 67 and gusts up to 85. It was an amazing experience and glad we did it.
What a fun day we had. My son loves train and he couldn’t wait to experience the cog on the mount Washington. It was definitely worth the money: $89/adult, $61/child. We got super lucky: clear skies. The views were mesmerizing. Once you reach the summit, you can spend 1 hour walking around and taking pictures. There’s also a cafe and lots of restrooms. Just remember to bring some warm clothes, it can get very cold at the summit. It was 77 when we went there, but the summit had a windchill of 40.
$100 per person. Recommend selecting seats of C,D and E for better view and towards locomotive. Hopped on final service and sunset was amazing on way back.. ok but if the Auto road have same scenic area view , $500 is not worth it for group of 5. Don’t know about Auto road. But this is good great view and great great staff . Always take your jackets for summit

My wife and I celebrated our 38th anniversary zipping over the Columbus Day weekend! At first we were a little nervous but as soon as we received our practice lesson, we felt at ease and very safe. Our guides Patrick and George were very patient with our entire group. I would definitely recommend this activity, the views of the foliage from the zip lines were AWESOME!!!!
It is an interesting experience with multiple zip lines and rappelling. The selection of zip lines is good , but did not feel special. However , the guides are amazing, and I can bump up rating of the experience due to them.
This is the most amazing experience. We absolutely loved it. We were part of a group of 8 ranging in age from about 18 to 50’s. Everyone was great company and we had the best time. The instructors John and Aaron were fantastic. They build up your skills and confidence so quickly and expertly that you feel safe and comfortable to give everything a try and the result was an exhilarating experience in the most beautiful surroundings. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Don't waste your time at other locations. This was cheaper than other locations and totally worth it. A guy in our group said he did another one in the area, and this one was much better! George and Eric made sure everyone knew what they were doing before sending them out on the line. They made it fun and enjoyable! Highly recommend!
Shout our to Rob and Dan! This zipline tour was tremendous! Our guides, Rob and Dan, were so kind, knowledgeable, and patient. They made everyone feel safe and confident by ensuring that we understood each part of the zipline and rappeling process. I was originally hesitant to book this adventure since no one in our family had ziplined previously, but it turned out to be a highlight of our trip and an experience our kids will remember forever.
What a fantastic tour! We were a little hesitant at first due to price (there were only two of us) but it was well worth it. Rob and Patrick were amazing tour guides, knowledgable on the area and even helped give ideas for other activities to do while we were in town. I thought I would be most nervous for the rappeling but I never felt unsafe or "too high". We caught the beginning of foliage season and it was gorgeous! Being my first time with this tour I do feel I spent a lot of time focused on waiting for hand signals etc. instead of taking in the scenery, so I guess I'll just have to do it again! :) Because there was only 2 of us I felt we zipped through pretty fast, so I might reco bringing some friends to stretch it out a little more.
This year was my third time doing the canopy tour, and I love it more every time. The zip lines themselves are beautiful and exhilarating, but it’s the staff that keep me coming back. Always professional and awesome to hang out with. They’re eager to answer any questions, and they make everyone feel comfortable throughout the tour. I’m excited to hear that they may be expanding the course. Absolutely worth every penny.
Heath & Rob were amazing guides, funny & very helpful. The views of the foliage was splendid. They even lent us a helmet with gopro attachment. We got the deal of $110 for 2. Best way to end our foliage road trip!

Playing golf at the Mount Washington Hotel’s course was a wicked awesome experience! As someone from Boston, I’ve seen my fair share of golf courses, but this one stands out big time. We grabbed the unlimited golf package, and it was worth every penny. If you happen to go and get the package be sure to let the staff know about it and they’ll treat you like a king. The course itself is a beauty, nestled right in the heart of the White Mountains. You get killer views of the Hotel and mountains, and the layout keeps you on your toes with a good mix of challenging and fun holes. The fairways and greens are in mint condition, making it a blast to play on. For any golf lover looking to escape the city and soak in some nature, this spot is a must. It’s a perfect getaway for a day filled with golf, gorgeous views, and that peaceful vibe we all need now and then. Can’t wait to head back up there head to the Veranda and tee it up again!
Great views and scenery on just about every hole. Greens were in great shape, fairways were a bit burnt out but unfortunately that's the case for most in the area currently given the severe lack of rain this summer. Staff was friendly and can't beat seeing Mount Washington in the backdrop for many of your shots. Would definitely plan on a round here again if back in the area.
Seems like Mt. Washington is becoming less about the golfing experience and more about profit margins. Great course, but the conditions are below standard this year. Dead spots in fairway, closed tees. I would give them a pass for the conditions and chalk it up to a hot, dry summer, but rolling out the “Dynamic Pricing” this season has left a bad taste in my mouth. The standard rate is $165, and charging $205 because it’s “busy” is a pure money grab. Seems like they are raising prices and cutting back on maintenance costs to increase profits. Hoping Omni doesn’t ruin one of the best courses in NE
Course was in good shape. Only one group of cart girls, with limited drinks. For $165 a round it seemed steep. Other courses I have played at that price point have a lot more amenities. Range was not included and they were out of range balls. We were unable to warm up before playing.
Decent golf course nestled within the scenic white mountain. Front 9 is relatively flat with several bunkers coming into play keeping things interesting. Back 9 finally brings some elevation into the mix especially no. 13 and 14 with expansive mountain back drop. But the course condition, fairways seems quite poor. For $165 green fee, it falls short of what a great golf course it can be. Fairways are patchy, dry and very unappealing to look at and play. I suppose the idea is to not look down and just enjoy the scene. The carts are noisy and driving range and practice facility is very subpar. All in all, if you are staying at the resort, definitely a good place to play, especially in the morning as the fog slowly unveils the mountains… but I hope the course management, brings the fairways to a better shape.
Like playing golf in a fairytale storybook. The Donald Ross course is true to the style with great bunkering and undulating greens - some of which are enormous. The views are worth a million bucks everywhere you look and the hotel presides over all of the action. Great hospitality and golf staff make this a must play. 9-hole Mt Pleasant course makes for a nice added bonus too.
When I went to pay at the Pro Shop. I noticed what the guys in front of us paid, each of us were charged $40 more than the guys. I asked the women checking us in why I was charged more. She said Omni Resorts uses Dynamic Pricing, as tee times book and less are available, the price goes up, like Airplane ticket pricing. Paying a 35 percent increase from last year, makes me feel like I got screwed. I have always played there a few times a year. I'm done, NOT GOING BACK.
Awesome course. The views are beautiful.

Great way to start and end hikes in the White Mountains. We hiked to Zealand and spent two nights. Made use of the shuttle service for first time. Highly recommend this option! Came to highland center, bought lunch. Showered & headed to Diana's Bath. Ate dinner at center and had a great shower and sleep. Headed home clean & refreshed!
Hi. I am a 2-time AT thru-hiker. I mention this just to say that I have stayed in every type of place along the trail from the smallest hostels to no tell motels. The treatment I received at the AMC Highland Center was absolutely the worst I have had on the trail. This is all due to the man who was running the front desk. The other staff was terrific. His behavior was completely outrageous and is the reason for this review. Being a thru-hiker, I did not have transportation…otherwise I would have left. I can’t believe that this person is allowed to speak to customers this way. There must have been complaints from other guests and customers about him
Amazing mini vacation with our family, including little ones. We stayed in one of the rooms that included bunk beds for the kids. Enjoyed all of the meals included in our stay and the hikes around the property. I was pleasantly surprised with the many opportunities in the area for kids to enjoy the mountain views and nature. The staff were extremely helpful and even willing to supplement foods for one of our little picky eaters. Can't wait to go back again soon!
Excellent location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The group dining lends itself well to meeting other like minded people. There was plenty of good tasting nutritious food. The scenery is truly special. It’s a quiet environment for getting restful sleep. Puzzles and games are available for use, again offering more opportunities to get to know other visitors. Lots of interesting photos on the wall offering the history of the area. Oh, and you just may happen to be in the company of a musical visitor who happens to play the piano so beautifully! I’ve already booked my next trip there coming up in November! Excited about what new adventure hike I’ll be able to do!
Stayed here quite a few times before, and we used to really like it. It has been 2-3 years since our last stay though, and something appears to have changed for the worse. Staff was very nice as usual, nothing but good things there. The rooms were fine, though clearly showing their age; beds are ok-ish and there is no AC. I can live w all that. Cleanliness could be better. It wasn’t dirty, but our duvet had obvious stains. The food is were it truly has gone downhill. Buffet Dinner options were very minimalistic and clearly prepared long before dinner time, likely during lunchtime. Salmon had dry edges all over, dumplings were oddly uneven as if they had been microwaved, grilled asparagus was fine if not fresh. Breakfast similarly was just ok and pretty bare bones. Frankly I wonder if it’s just major staff shortage or something else. All of this would be fine if the price reflected it, but they’re not exactly cheap. For 1 room w 3 people we paid over $500 for 1 night. Yes, location and views are great.’, but honestly for those prices it’s not good value anymore.
Stayed in the Shapleigh Bunkhouse. Clean, quiet, convenient. Great place to get a good nights sleep before a hike. The meals are an excellent addition.
I only took the shuttle from there and got some information. The crew was super nice knowledgeable of the area and trails. I got some good advice on planning out my route across the Presidential Traverse.
Rooms very basic, good is good, mattress time for replacement, beautiful spot and very friendly staff. We were unlucky because of having our room just on the spot of a dripping sound in front of our window.
