So yummy and such a sweet nice place! Had the New England salad. The ham sandwich was amazing! We loved the chocolate cupcake and the sticky bun. The croissant was great too.
What a fun store! Definitely a bakers dream. Loads of products, boxed mixes, pans, baking implements, jams, etc. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Fun to walk around and stock up! They also sell sandwiches and beverages. There's a nice outdoor space where you can sit and eat, play corn hole etc. Plenty of parking on the premises. Fortunately this popped up when looking for a place for a late lunch on our road trip We stopped just after 3. The cafe closes at 4. What they don’t tell you, or remove from the menu board is they stop serving soup at 3 (doesn’t seem logical) and if they are out of something. I had a ham sandwich- it was good. The bread is challenging when cold. Broccoli slaw- good flavor but dry! Cajun Shrimp sandwich- hubs really liked it. Croissant was one of my favorites. Chocolate chip cookie was bomb! Citrus honey cookie was good Chocolate cupcake- great frosting. Vanilla cupcake- snoozefest and dry. The shop on the side is great too! Cute space and area, lots of seating inside and out
We made this a special stop on our driving trip to New England. Having purchased items online we wanted to visit the HQ so to speak. We were not disappointed. The retail bakery had so many delicious items and the shop had everything we had seen online plus some. It was the beginning of "leaf season" so there was a crowd, but manageable. We left with three bags full of mixes, baking pans, and goodies to eat on the rest of our travels. Do not stop here if carbohydrates is a bad word in your culinary vocabulary. Long live bread (all kinds)!
Went to check out a pop up flower seller on their patio. Stayed for the amazing s’mores latte. Breakfast sandwiches on house made bread were also delicious and I loved their selection of pastries. The patio seating area is lovely and they have a nice field for Adirondack chair seating as well. Will definitely return!
Grocery Store + Bakery Stopped by this past weekend to grab some pastries in the morning. At first, I thought it was just a small local bakery, but it turned out to be more of a multi-concept space with a grocery store, baking school, and café all under one roof. There’s also a large outdoor lawn, which made it a nice spot to hang out with coffee and pastries. In the bakery section, they had both pre-packaged goods (like apple pies and cookies you’d find in a grocery store) and a full display of fresh pastries. We picked up a few cookies and pastries, but even with a dedicated pastry kitchen, everything felt fairly basic. The cookies were too sweet (especially the almond cloud ones), the chocolate croissant was too soft inside with little flakiness, and the sticky bun was the only thing that was solid.
Awesome place if you're a local or a tourist, to stop by for lunch (eat outside if you're lucky!), pick up treats for a dinner party or gift, shop for essentials (or non). Banh mi sandwich, pastries, chocolate chip and almond cloud cookies were our favorites.
The happiest place on earth! I love to bake, and almost always use King Arthur Flour recipes when I do. The store has everything you could ever need for baking, and the cafe has all the delicious results. Try the Rye Sea Salt Brownie because that recipe is exclusive to the cafe and isn't published on the site. And the Almond Cloud Cookies (and any bread) are excellent.

Modern complex with interactive exhibits, an aquarium & an outdoor science park & nature trails.

I visited the Montshire Museum of Science with my 10, 8, and 5 year old daughters on our way to Burlington, VT. We thought of it as a stopover to break up the 3 1/2 hour drive, and figured we'd get at least a few hours of respite from the highway. We've been to A LOT of museums, and the Montshire is by far the best children's museum we have ever been to. The exhibits were educational and interesting for kids and adults alike. The outdoor areas were beautiful and a ton of fun for kids on a hot day; how many places will let you wade in what anywhere else would be considered a fountain? The gift shop was basically free of all the pseudo-educational junk (army men, annoying dinosaur noisemakers, etc.) that you typically see at science museums and was instead filled with top-quality, genuinely cool science books and toys. There are miles of walking trails around the property too. The quality of the overall experience was so much better than many of the museums, children's or otherwise, in Massachusetts. I'm looking at you, Discovery Museum in Acton, and Boston Science Museum! Do better! This museum is incredible!
This is the best place to bring kids for a day of exploring. I especially love it in the warm weather when the outdoor activities are accessible! But there's so much to see and do and often there are extra events happening throughout the day. Today we participated in an electricity event. My kids, 7 and 12 enjoyed the museum equally.
The best children’s museum I have ever visited — and we’ve visited a LOT of museums. The exhibits are so thoughtful and engaging - our two kids (4 and 7) happily spent all day playing and learning here. This multi floor space is well laid out and organized. Exhibits are in great shape and clearly lovingly maintained. Staff members were kind and engaging. This place is a true gem. This is our new “must visit” spot for our annual summer Vermont visit! Parents, this isn’t a play space. It requires active participation and sometimes explanation on behalf of the parents. You won’t mind - it’s a joyful way to spark science curiosity in kiddos of all ages. I learned a few things too! I think it seemed ideal for ages 4/5 and up - even better for fluent readers who can be more autonomous in their absorption of the science concepts. But if you have littler ones there’s still fun to be had - everything is so hands on. What truly sets Monsthire apart from other facilities IMO is the incredible outdoor exhibits trails, and scenery. It’s a true indoor and outdoor experience. We loved and appreciated it.
One of my favorite museums ever. So many cool activities for children to do (and for myself 🤫) Really feels like learning and playing at the same time. Well maintained trails with cute facts to read as you walk, and a wonderful outdoor water area that has fountains and waterfalls for the kids to play in. Multiple floors with something new on every floor.
A must see if you are looking for fun or a day trip to Vermont. The kids will love the sights, sounds, interactive displays and learning activities. There is plenty of fun and education for all who join. Handicap accessible trails. Hands on and visual experiences.
Nice little hands on museum for children, I would say best ages are between 5-10 and allot of the exhibits are geared towards that age group. Beautiful grounds and trails for walking with a small water park for the kids. I would say children under 5 should be free or at least a substantial reduction from $18 dollars currently charged.
One of the best museums I’ve ever visited! My kids (8, 10) had a great time, but so did my husband and I! We easily spent 2+ hours inside and then explored the grounds. It feels rare to find a museum that doesn’t cater to the younger crowd. This museum has a wide range of activities for all ages (I could live in the puzzle/brainteaser room!) and the property is incredible. The trails, fountains/splash pools, the unique and fun activities in the woods; it was all so wonderful. We were visiting from CT and man, I really wish we had something similar here! It was a delight.
Great museum. Call the day before for closures - the website is not always updated ahead with *major* exhibit maintenance closures. Unfortunately when we checked the museum website for trip planning just 5 days before, invited friends, book a hotel, took time off work/school -- we expected a museum of this caliber to have an updated website. Unfortunately, we got there and all the exhibits we hadn't seen before that we were returning specifically to visit were closed (this was not mentioned on the website when we checked before planning our trip, in fact, the website specifically said those exhibits were open, which is why we planned to attend those days). I wish they would give visitors more lead time with website announcements on exhibit closures, or offer a complementary ticket to return at the desk when these closures are so last minute and people have traveled from far with much expense and planning.

Loved this place! I pity whoever is in charge of inventory but this store really has the largest assortment of goods I think I've ever seen under one roof. The people are friendly and helpful and the building itself is even worth seeing.
"If we don't have it, you don't need it" -is right! Everything from diapers to Postcards and more. There is just so much in all the never ending rooms! Unfortunately prices are about $2+ more than other stores, so you pay for convenience, but they also have unique/hard to find items as well. It's just a quirky wonderland! I bought rubber key identification holders for 40 cents! (They also make keys!) I also got a sack of soil and limited edition beer all in the same trip. I was amazed! If it's busy parking will be a challenge as they don't have much in front.
I typically love this store and enjoy stopping for lunch, but today I have never been more disrespected and shocked at the way the lady at the deli spoke to me. I understood she was cooking for lunch, but I even offered to come back in 15 min and I was still responded with such a rude comment that I had to walk out of the store and take my business else where. I feel horrible for posting this but I'm a business owner myself and couldn't imagine treating a customer the way she talked to me. Just be aware of this women. Again I do love this store, but this was so uncomfortable and disrespectful. Hardware depot always gets a 5 star rating in my book!
Really gone down hill in a big way. Very expensive for everything and very dirty and dusty shelves. We won't be back.
They aren't kidding about " if they don't have it you don't need it". After living in the area nearly 10 years a friend showed me the ' back rooms' today. It was like the little general store expanded into a country version of Macy's....but way cooler. Thanks Dan & Whit's!
Classic Vermont. My father-in-law was one of the meat cutters here in the 80's and 90's. We visited in Aug 2017 after 24 years of not stepping foot inside and it hasn't changed a bit. It's true if they don't have it- you don't need it. Grab a bite to eat, you can't go wrong and be sure to snap some Dan & Whits merchandise. What a classic Vermont country store, enjoy the locals chatting.
First time at this institution. Dropped $200+ on food and alcohol as well everything else you may need.
We stopped by to buy maple syrup, apparently a must-buy for out-of-state visitors. The store looks quite ordinary, until we read about it on a New York Times article a few days later. The article, probably one of the stories in the run up to the 2018 Winter Olympics, featured Norwich as a training ground for Olympians and mentioned this store as a kind of institution in the small town. The article even quoted the store's famous slogan, "If we don't have it, you don't need it".

Good prices on all pumpkins, adorable display outside. A nice location too near King Arthur’s Bakery.
As the summa progresses there display of flowers and plants increases we were looking for a certain thing that wasn’t available yet, but they go out of the way to try to help you get what you need. There’s a good assortment of produce and plant milk and cheese. Nice place to visit.
What an amazing store. They have everything you need from a farm stand. Fresh veggies and they have coffee too. A must stop
Great spot for local produce and more. I have not had one disappointing experience here, everything I’ve purchased has been amazing, from zucchini to all types of tomatoes to herbs, onions, turnips, cheeses and so much more! The prices are affordable and everyone who works there is very kind. This has become my new spot for produce and then some.
Wonderful selection of hanging plants, annuals and fresh veggies and fruit! Strawberries from Edgewater Farm are in and they are primo!!!
So cute! Always really good corn and other veggies although it’s so expensive… the staff are always attentive and friendly though! It is not accessible to get to though since the stone path leading to the farm stand is pretty uneven.
Extremely fresh is the produce sold at Crossroads Farm Stand. We picked a fresh basil bunch, some cherry tomatoes for a caprese salad, apples, strawberries that melted in the mouth, and some pork loin chops. We had a most memorable dinner that night!
The best tomatoes around very friendly too

I absolutely LOVE this farmers market. I've been going every weekend almost all summer. The booths aren't the same everytime and it is relatively large for the area. There has been live music everytime I've been and tons of people. One downside is that they only allow service animals. The parking is a bit hectic but if you go to the back you'll be able to find some spits on the grass.
My car was scratched by bushes that were growing into the road. I reported it to the manager and she told me she would email me her insurance information. Which she never did. I notified their landlord, darthmouth co-op and they confirmed it was the Norwich farmers market’s responsibility to keep the bushes trimmed. They never responded to my emails or requests to be reimbursed for the damage to my car. Not only is this unappreciative of patrons who have spent thousands over the years at the farmers market, but it is unprofessional behavior. After being a regular for over a decade I won’t be going back. I can get what I need from most farms by going there directly. Edited to address the comment from the manager. I gave them my cell phone number and my email address but they have not contacted me. Despite their response saying they have emailed me several times with no response - that is not true as I have not received any calls, texts, or emails. Horrible management - if you care about your car don’t go.
Such a wide variety of vendors— food, baked goods, fruits, veggies and crafts abound. A happy and popular place to spend your Saturday!
Felt more like an actual "farmers market " than a community market. I am an artist as well but would like to go to a farmers market with mostly farm products to buy. That said, the artisans were fantastic as well and I would suggest that you definitely check this market out.
We love this place. Breakfast burritos, yummy fresh bread, fruit and veggies and wonderful crafts. The best FM in the upper valley.
Wonderful farmer's market with a good variety of veggies, fruit, pastries and goods (photographs, jewelry, etc.). There was free music while we were there and my kids enjoyed a Jamaican lunch that they said was better than the Jamaican food we recently had in the Carribean. Lovely farmer's market.
It's a super cute and fun market! Norwich Farmer's Market hosts dozens of vendors. Here you can buy everything from organic produce and eggs to artisan goods such as pickles, jams & jellies, raw honey, hand-crafted jewelery and candles, specialized apothecary teas, and more! There is also plenty of fresh, hot food, like samosas, and for drinks: lemonade, coffee, and teas. When the weather is nice it's a beautiful place to spend a Saturday! But it gets very crowded, so bring a mask if you're not comfortable in close-quarters with others.
Best farmers in all of Vermont!!
