Ausable Chasm: Nature's Grand Canyon in the Heart of New York I just got back from Ausable Chasm, and I'm still pinching myself! This hidden gem in upstate New York is a must-visit for any adventure-seeker or nature lover. Imagine hiking through a stunning gorge, surrounded by towering cliffs, rushing waterfalls, and lush greenery – it's like stepping into a real-life wonderland! The scenic trails wind along the Ausable River, offering breathtaking views and thrilling opportunities for exploration. Don't miss the iconic "Shaded Grotto" and "Railroad Trestle Bridge" – they're truly awe-inspiring! For the more adventurous, there's tubing, hiking, and even rappelling! The staff and guides are super friendly and knowledgeable, making sure you're safe while still getting an adrenaline rush. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, too. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience in nature, Ausable Chasm is the perfect destination. Trust me, you won't regret it! 🌊🏞️💚 - Wear comfy shoes or hiking boots - Bring a waterproof camera - Don't forget your sense of adventure! 😄 Can't wait to go back and explore more!
This place is a must visit. Such an awe- inspiring work of nature at its best. The sound of water, the way the nature has carved the stones will last in your memory for a long time. You have various packages to choose from depending on your interest and your group range. You can do trials, river walk, adventure walk, rafting, tubing. Be sure to check the age and height of kids while purchasing the tickets. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The guides are so knowledgeable. They answer all your questions and give suggestions on what more you can see in the neighborhood. You will definitely enjoy all of the activities here. The Rafting and tubing are good for kids and adults who would prefer light ones and not rapids. The shuttle runs frequently and has multiple drop you off locations. The parking is big. Overall you will never regret this trip.
This is a very magical place. It’s been on my list for a while but I was skeptical because of its status at a tourist destination. I was not disappointed! Well worth the entrance fee and plenty to do. Amazing hiking and picture taking opportunities everywhere! We hiked around the entire rim and it was fun and exciting each step of the way. There are rafting and ropes/climbing opportunities that we didn’t partake in, but they looked like a blast. This place is a wonderland and I’d definitely return for more if it’s enjoyment. If you’re in the fence, go for it! You won’t regret being immersed in this natural wonder.
Ausable Chasm was on the list to visit while in the Adirondacks and it did not disappoint. It was truly a fun and extraordinary place to visit. From hiking the scenic trails along the sandstone walls to floating down the river between the cliffs, every part of the experience was incredible. The views are breathtaking and the combination of adventure and natural beauty makes it unforgettable. Whether you’re looking for an easy walk, a more adventurous hike, or tubing through the gorge, Ausable Chasm has something for everyone. Definitely a place to check out if you’re in the area.
This was the perfect long weekend get away. The fall was a wonderful time to go. The water levels were low but still beautiful. While there the trees changed colors, the sun was shining and a gorgeous mid 60s day. It's worth the extra cost to pay for the boat and river walk. The staff were great, fun, and informative. It made for an awesome birthday weekend. Our family will go again sometime and highly recommend it.
Ausable Chasm was an extraordinary experience—we really loved it! We were hoping to go tubing, but the water level was too low the day we went, so we couldn’t. Instead, we did the rafting. It was a small, simple ride because of the low water, but still enjoyable. What made the trip amazing were the hikes—we walked the trails, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. I totally recommend visiting. It was such a lovely and memorable place to see.
After moving to the Adirondack area several months ago, the Ausable Chasm was definitely on my bucket list. My daughter came over from Rochester, and we drove up to the park. We left Jasper at home as this park is not dog friendly, and once you are on the trails you will see why. We did have a little bit of a wait to buy our tickets, but the website warned of the wait if we went during that time period. Everyone was super nice and helpful. We hiked the trail, which offered many beautiful views including waterfall, canyons, and many rapids. Definitely stop by the Elephant Face rock formation. It was really cool. Anyway, we followed the trail to the raft, where we waited about 30 min (again, website forwarded of a wait time during certain hours so we were prepared). We boarded the raft, went through the chasm and she rapids, and ended the hike by taking the trolley back. If I had to do it over again I would have hiked back. The canyons were very cool with a nice breeze. I thoroughly enjoyed the views and the atmosphere. The gift shop was nice as well. I think this is a must do for any Adirondack trip!
This is a beautiful summer outing with float trips available as well as a heart fluttering ropes course traversing the chasm. For those who enjoy their feet planted solidly on the ground, there are also lovely walking trails. If you want a free experience take a walk outside to see Rainbow Falls and the hydro dam, or up on the bridge for breath taking views.

After we visited Ausable Chasm we came here to this small museum. Hours are not regular but seasonal, so check before going. It was an interesting collection and there were so many things to learn about surrounding that time in our history. Moving experience. Would love to go again.
There were children who gave us a tour, told us the story of the area about the underground railroad, showed us movies. it was very interesting and informative. Well done to children!!!! It's a free museum that runs on donations.
This is an amazing facility, and a tremendous way to preserve my great great grandfather Herbert Estes’ home and residence in Keysville, New York. So thankful to Helen and Don! I am so proud of this facility, memorializing the underground railroad and the hope of freedom that propels our culture to confront and surpass all obstacles to freedom!
A small museum with excellent exhibits. Our interpreter was delightful and very accommodating. My curiosity was piqued by the displays and conversation; so I left with more questions than when I entered. How did New York (and much of the Northeast) shift from slaveholding as the dominant norm to abolitionist in the span of a single generation? The museum focuses more on the fallout from this shift (and the many schisms) than precipitating factors...but I digress. Perhaps the true litmus test of any museum is whether it inspires curiosity. This one did!
Such a nice place to visit for serenity!!
It was an interesting museum. Very small in size, but still interesting to learn about the former slave from MD & of about the abolitionists that helped him to start a new life.
I was impressed with the local history presented here. The museum is smaller than I thought, but there is a wealth of information. I liked the layout with the "church room" telling the story with the points of view from the local churches. There is a small "kids corner" with appropriate books and coloring sheets too.
Our guide was a wealth of knowledge, shared the local history. We were there a few hours reviewing the film, documents and exhibits. Our docent had a Genuine gift for sharing a horrific history, this site renews Faith in the true goodness of Humanity.

We fell upon this place as they were having their anniversary party. It was a great time with amazing beers. I made a tie dye shirt, saw some live music and fire dancers. We would definitely stop by this place again. Friendly and good vibes.
Really good beers, I got the flight to try out some different beers. Every one of them was really good. The best green beer I have ever had, it's wasn't some beer with green food coloring. Real thought went into it. I will be back again for sure!
What a find, great small batch brewery with every brew spot on. Also great pizza truck and music…
If you're looking for the perfect spot to unwind with family and friends, Ausable Brewing Company is a must-visit destination. Nestled in a picturesque setting, this brewery offers a delightful outdoor seating area where you can soak in the beautiful scenery while enjoying the fresh air. One of the highlights of Ausable Brews is its commitment to local culture, featuring live music from talented local artists that adds a vibrant atmosphere to your experience. Whether you're tapping your feet to the rhythm or simply enjoying the ambiance, the live performances create a welcoming and lively environment. To satisfy your hunger, a food trucks is on hand, offering delicious options that pair perfectly with their craft beers. From savory bites to sweet treats, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Speaking of craft beers, Ausable Brews boasts an impressive lineup of locally brewed New York beers that are a must-try. Each sip showcases the unique flavors and craftsmanship that the region has to offer, making it a true haven for beer enthusiasts. Overall, Ausable Brewing Company is an exceptional place to spend quality time with loved ones. With its stunning views, great food, live music, and outstanding local brews, it promises a memorable experience that will keep you coming back for more. Don’t miss out on this gem!
We made the trip here twice in one weekend. Once to get tickets for the eclipse viewing and once more for the actual eclipse day. Their beer, cider and soda are just fantastic. The family had a great time. The folks at this place made sure we were taken care of, comfortable and entertained. This means a lot to a family and we will be forever grateful for the experience. When we talk about once in a lifetime experiences, ausable brewery will forever be part of our vocabulary.
I love the vibes and I love the beer. Their location is second to none. I also appreciate how much they support local community efforts. They've helped many local nonprofits in a variety of ways, and truly give back to those around them. Good beer, good people, good times. 10/10 would recommend!
Every beer we tried was truly impressive and masterfully executed. The range of styles was broad, yet every one felt deliberate and balanced. What struck me most is how this brewery strikes a chord of greatness while staying humble and grounded in nature. These are beers made to be beer first, flavor second, meaning even the fruited sour showcases the yeast and fermentation profile before the fruit character hits. The pale ales are dry and crisp, yet layered with flavor. The use of rye in multiple styles is especially well done, pulling out rye’s sweetness without tipping into harsh grain bitterness. There's an emphasis on brewing tradition here, but also a willingness to experiment with local, farm-to-glass ingredients in a way that feels authentic and not gimmicky. Highly recommend to anyone who loves classic beer styles approached with care, creativity, and a deep connection to the land. Bonus for friendly, generous and knowledgeable staff.
So much fun! Small, outdoor (there is an open barn in case of weather or to get out of the sun) brewery with that small, hometown country feel. Unfortunately, the food truck (BBQ) wasn’t to my liking but if you like the simple, country vibe and live music, this place is for you! Oh, and the beer is pretty darn good!!

I have purchased steaks many times from the farm store and they are top notch!! Today I ordered them to pick up at a closer location through Barn2Door. I got there and my order wasn't in the cooler. I messaged the farm and they immediately refunded my money. I'm sorry that I won't be eating my steaks but that is fantastic customer service. Thank you!
Great service! People are very friendly and helpful. It's a self service little shop but there are people on the property to help out. Usually there's people prepping if you get there early enough. They have different variety of products. We had the English bacon which was delicious for breakfast. The salami and the garden party sausage were great also. Definitely a place to stop and grab a few things for your next cookout.
Fantastic little butcher shop featuring humanely raised meats. Some fresh cuts are available but mostly frozen. Cool variety of pork and beef sausages, broths, pasteure-raused eggs, local bread, and occasional cheeses.
What a treasure! I just purchased some spareribs for a family cookout on Sunday, so have not tried those yet. But I also got some pho broth and made some pho for lunch, outstanding! Also picked up some pate which I just sampled, just awesome. If the ribs are half as good the fam is in for some good eating! I just moved here and feel very lucky to have such talented purveyors nearby.
Amazing experience from the moment we went in. I usually get nauseated near meats but the butcher smelled kind of sweet! The meat smelled amazing and didn't make me sick. We bought Fresh Garden sausages (absolutely delish), bacon, whole chicken and chicken stock. I'm excited to cook the rest of the foods.
Awesome fresh butchered meats, homemade delights like Chicken Liver Pate, bone broths, pastrami- which is a huge treat!! My only suggestion is to have beef / pork sticks! Was hoping to find some, but didn’t have any for sale when I was there, maybe I missed it.
What a cleverly set up store. Very nice selection of meats. They can take special orders too. Cash, check, AND card is accepted. Stop by and see the chasm on your way home.
The meat we bought (ground beef and chicken sausages) was delicious and seemed healthy. The self-service butcher shop is very convenient.

Really cool spot worth the stop! It's a small road then a parking spot. You can walk right down near the falls.
Alice falls is beautiful, but they are closed on the weekends. It is gated, but if you go see Ausable Chasm, maybe do it during the week and you could pop in here too. It's a couple minutes from the park.
Nice relaxing walk. Take your time and enjoy the view
Oww just beautiful. We had picnic luch after going to eusable chasm. We were the only ones there!!
Scenic, quiet, clean. Great place to meditate or eat lunch.
It was closed to the public

Tiger stripe paintball is a total blast!!! There are many ways to play paintball there the prices are reasonable they Supply the guns and the paintballs all you have to supply is the bodies. The owner himself or one of his employees referees the games sets up the scenarios and make sure everything goes smoothly. The more people you have playing the better, you set up teams and also decide how you want to compete against each other. There's some great scenario setup and great battlefields the woods and all the forts and small town that you can play through make it really cool and easy to set up ambushes and just have a lot of fun play army. The big boy way. It's a well-run and lots of fun place to spend the day.
Great selection of courses, manager was super cool and understanding with the new players. Would certainly go again.
Guys were great and very accommodating! Loved the different courses! Will definitely return!
I pass by here on 9N. I have never stopped. I have seen it open once in 10 years. So I have no idea why you sent this to me. Interested? Look them up on Google.
Went to tiger stripe for the first time and had a blast with my buddies friends from his work awesome day hope we do it again
This guy is awsome! Super friendly and makes amazing courses!
Fun Paintball, but the guns really like to clog up.
