What a wonderful general store. A neat place of Americana history that has been in the same family for 5 generations. Well worth a little detour to stop by and see.
Love the general store and people that work there! While it’s not Walmart, it has all the basics you’ll need - food, dry bags, water shoes, maps, shades, etc. - they even have a locally drawn map of the Hiwassee River you can purchase and color if so desired. The raft service is awesome! The shuttle carries you to the put-in and you float 5 miles back down to the Webb Bros store, taking anywhere from 3.5-4.5 hours. Rapids are fairly easy to navigate being class I-III. You can rent a single tube, single or double “duckie” (inflatable kayak) or 5 person raft. They provide life jackets and paddles for an added fee if you don’t have your own. No tubes to the top after 3pm. The float down river is absolutely beautiful and relaxing!! It never gets old. Webb Bros- thank you!! **See if you can find the hidden plaque on “Dem Boys Rock” pictured below…
Highly recommend! Everyone here was super professional and friendly, we weren't made to feel like tourists like some other places. Mr. Webb himself visited with us while we waited, what a cool guy. We had a ton of fun and were not rushed at all on the river. Great place. I recommend funyaks for this river, we've done it multiple times and they seem like the most fun. I wouldn't want to tube this river Edit: after reading some other reviews I would like to add that the truck ride felt very safe to me, the driver handled the road very cautiously, calculated, and gently where none of my group felt unsafe at any time. He had clearly done it many many times and it was a relaxing experience on the way to the put in point.
We had a blast. This is a perfect activity for a summer day! I took four 11-12 year old children and we rented a five person raft. The river is excellent for letting them work together and learn to row as a team. Enough rapids to be fun, but gentle enough to be forgiving as they learn. Reliance and Webb Brothers rafting is a great getaway from our busy world. No cell signal, a gas station with cheap candy for kids to buy, riding in the back of an old truck on winding roads (my kids loved riding/standing), easy rafting, and all of this is surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Tips for the trip: Look at your map. You will lose service about 5 minutes away. If you have a group of adult-size people, opt for funyaks. You will get stuck on rocks in the raft. Stay left like they will tell you. The rapids and water are better. You will see a raft rental area and go under a railroad bridge just before you need to exit the water at Webb Brother's on the left.
Super friendly people. If you’re interested they’ll share details about the history of the area. Really incredible cabins/accommodations decorated with tasteful antiques. A hidden gem because won’t find on Booking or AirBnB. Highly recommend.
I flipped my kayak half a mile in and called it a day. They came and got me then took me back up to wait on the rest of my party . I sat in the load out rocks watching people float in and had the absolute best time being entertained by the boys that work there. All of them were so nice. This place has a country family feel. I definitely will be back.
Webb Brother's makes floating simply EASY. With Webb Brother's all you have to do is show up, after that they take care of EVERYTHING. Never used anyone else bc they did it right in my book the 1st time. That in its self makes for a great retreat. Always super excited when the my weekends involve the Hiawassee River! Be sure to ck these guys out when you up or around Reliance,TN
I’ve been coming to Webb Bros since I was a kid, and it’s still just as great as ever! It’s family-run, and you can really feel the care and pride they put into everything they do. The whole team is friendly, welcoming, and always makes sure you’re set up for a fun, safe float. The check-in process is easy, the gear is solid, and the river is always beautiful. It’s the kind of place that keeps you coming back year after year!

So much fun! The owner Mike happened to drive our bus to the 'put in' and gave us the best historic tour along the way. We packed coolers with sandwiches and drinks, plenty of water and enjoyed a relaxing float down the Hiwassee. The rapids are chill, level 2s. They have life jackets and paddles and great rafts. 4 adults can sit in the large one, we rented a two person one. They have a bathhouse where you can change into dry clothes when finished. So much fun! Beautiful scenery, and you may see bald Eagles! Enjoy!
I had an amazing time falling out of my kayak and chasing the currents. Make sure yall take time out on the weekend to check this spot out you will not be disappointed
My friends and I camped over the Fourth of July weekend and had such a great time! We were honestly so surprised by how friendly the staff were. Everyone was all smiles and super helpful the whole time. They really went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. Our campsite ended up being super muddy, but the staff worked with us to find another campsite. Huge shoutout to Lucas for laying down mulch at our site so we didn’t have to walk through a puddle! Also, big thanks to Addison! Even though they were fully booked for kayaking, she still found a way to squeeze us in. That totally made our day! The facilities were super clean, and the location was absolutely beautiful. Can’t wait to come back!
Need an option for young children while in Ocoee country? The Hiwassee just a bit further north is a great raft/inflatable kayak trip for family fun. Hiwassee Outfitters can provide everything you need for a beautiful float with refreshing water and family friendly rapids.
We rented kayaks on a perfect day. Nice easy float. We had so much fun! Owners were super nice and helpful. Tshirt selection was great too!
We had a raft of 5 people, and we all loved it. Ages 14-42. We did get stuck twice on rocks but were able to push off with our oars. There weren't many openings for us to pull off and hang a bit like we wanted. Seemed like debris had gotten caught in areas that we may have been able to stop at. There are areas where the water flowed fast, and there were areas where we were just able to slowly coast along and enjoy the views. We were able to pretty much stay close to another raft of family members. Don't think about this trip people, do it!
I loved going down this river. It's one of my favorites now. When I went the water was a little high which is what you want. The river is beautiful but as soon as you get through the rocks It's nice but you do it again. The scenery is worth it... you just have to put a little work into it... nothing crazy though
My family had a wonderful time rafting and kayaking with this company. It was absolutely gorgeous views and just the refresh we needed. Thanks to our guides Brittany and Joe!

Cooper is a true professional. My dad and I had a great time on the water with Southeastern Anglers and I would recommend any of my regular clients up to fish with them.
My father and my husband took a trip with Tic in October and they had a great experience! My 78 yr old dad is still talking about the trip . He had been going down the hiwassee river fishing his whole life but never had such a good time as he did that day ! They will definitely be back in the spring ! Thanks guys !
Excellent knowledge of their rivers. These guides know what fish eat. If you are not catching fish it’s just a bad day. And Southeasten Anglers makes the best lunch in the country.
Great trip. Many fish, pro guide. Very enjoyable.
