I had a lot of fun strolling through the more than two-dozen buildings in this museum that reflect life on the Prairies between 1738 to 1950. I was very impressed with the range of exhibits, which let me learn a lot about the history of the region. You can also access the Manitoba Softball Museum and Hall of Fame, as well as a corn maze, on this site.
Very interesting outdoors museum with many items donated. Replica of little town with buildings you can visit. Afforded entry fee: 8$ for students with student card. They also have a building with the SouthPort aviation museum. A lot of military aviation memorabilia as well as photographs. Nice little gift shop at the entrance as wel where you can buy local crafts about the Fort La reine Museum.
The museum has so much potential, and despite the efforts of the staff, it feels neglected. We visited with a member of our family who is in a wheelchair and it was immediately obvious that the site is actually dangerous and not accessible at all. Being that it is a city run facility, all the best intentions have given way to a perceived indifference. Sadly, the excellent collection of buildings, equipment, and artifacts are poorly maintained and will not last much longer without intentional intervention.
Thank you for accommodating our group of 16. We had such a great time visiting this gem of a museum. The tour was interesting and full of great information. Afterward, we enjoyed a special tea. A lovely place-highly recommended.
This is one of my favourite museums in Manitoba. It is really well maintained and interesting, with lots of different stories and artifacts. We came twice and spent almost 3 hours with my kids each time. The staff is very friendly and they strongly recommend covid measures.
A fantastic little museum! You can explore yourself or a free guided tour is available with your admission. I highly recommend the guided tour....you get so much information and fun facts from the tour guide as you're shown everything! Our guide was a just delightful gentleman named Chase. We had a GREAT time on our tour with him. We will definitely be returning for their special events!
We are spending a weekend in Portage la Prairie, and decided to check out the 'Fort La Reine' museum on the outskirts of town. I wasn't expecting much, but ended up being blown away. There is a lot to see, and you're pretty much given free reign to wander around and look at the houses/artifacts. There are about a dozen houses and various buildings from the late 19th century and early 20th century depicting various eras of life on the prairies. There is also a small railway display, and a building dedicated to the military history in the area. Oh, and don't forget the huge Allis Chalmers building FILLED with old tractors and farm equipment. If you're ever in the area of PLP and have a few hours to spare, check out Fort La Reine museum. It's 100% worth the $10 entry fee ($5 for kids!)
The museum has been updated, is cleaner/tidier than ever, and now features a ton of local events from tea parties to escape rooms. It's really come a long way! If you're local, you owe it another visit to see the updates. If you're from out of town, it's certainly worth the trip if you're a history buff, tractor enthusiast or simply in search of a good way to spend the day!

Very pretty park for in the middle of a city.
Our visit to Island Park was most pleasant; picked up pizza and went for a picnic with my sister and my puppy. We commented several times that it was so peaceful and quiet. Was so nice to see several little kids riding their bikes around and around the paved pathway around the duck pond; no worries of them getting into traffic. Puppy enjoyed all the sights and activities, even had a staring contest with a squirrel.
great use of the park, lots of shaped shots. challenging par3's. Dirt pads so slippery after rain, you have to move well to the side
Awesome park!! Very scenic, with a ton of things to see and do. Definitely worth checking out if you're nearby.
Nice recreation area in the town. Lots of garbage, recycling bins around. Many pathway fir walking.
What a great place! We were hungry On our way through town and the only patio in town looked too hot so we grabbed some take out and went to the park. Best idea of the trip!
Good place to pass with friends and family
Love it. Spend quite a few lunchtime over there. A great getaway from work for a bit. Especially at this time when the baby geese are now hatching.

Brought my family here over the weekend on a hot day. Very well organized and safe place— Out of all of them this is by far the best waterpark in Manitoba. The staff is very helpful and you can tell they take pride in what they do to keep everyone safe— They all deserve a raise.
We came as a surprise for my daughter’s birthday and she loved it. The slides are a lot of fun. There’s a hot tub area, a lazy river, and the pools are very nice. The place is surrounded by a park with picnic tables, which is also really pleasant. The price is reasonable. It does close early, though. Even so, it’s definitely worth it.
Awesome experience...was worth every penny. The kids had so much fun and didn't want to leave.
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the service I received. The lady at the reception blatantly deceived us by assuring that the pool would be open for 40 more minutes. Trusting her, I decided to let my child enjoy the pool and paid $18 for what was supposed to be a reasonable amount of time. However, barely 2-3 minutes after we arrived, the lifeguard abruptly announced that the pool service was over. This is not only unacceptable but also a clear case of false information being given to customers. When I requested a refund, the same receptionist coldly refused, showing a complete lack of empathy and customer care. Such dishonest and disrespectful behavior is disgraceful and tarnishes the reputation of your establishment. It is deeply disappointing to see a business tolerate such deceitful employees who clearly do not value their customers. I will certainly not recommend this pool to anyone, and I urge management to take immediate action by terminating the employment of this individual. A business that allows dishonesty and mistreatment of its loyal customers is doomed to fail. I hope you take this feedback seriously and make the necessary changes to restore trust and integrity. Date: September 1, 2025
It was fun but the line up to get in is about 45 mins. Not organized and the kids where going crazy in the hot sun. Should be walking and checking people in before hand. Otherwise two huge slides are great fun. However gimli was easier to watch all the kids.
My family had the best time here, most especially our kids. The water was warm which we really liked, lots of picnic tables and benches, and they even allow visitors to use pop-up tents - everyone had a place to use and sit down. We will definitely be back!
Risky to drive from out of town to get In unless you get there an hour before it opens. Closes when someone has a potty accident and the only thing to do when that happens is go to the park beside and wait till it reopens again. The nearest beach is 30mins away, so if you go be sure to plan in advance. Spontaneity probably won't get you in. Can bring your own food in, beautiful place to swim
Me and my family came from out of town and stopped at the island park to play at the playground and discovered the splash park beside it so decided to go. Upon entering the change room discovered the floor was super slippery when wet. Did my best to avoid all wet areas but on the way out, slipped and fell on my knee in an awkward position. Got an instant bruise and sore foot from it. There was no signage indicating slippery when wet. Also feel like the flooring should be textured and not smooth cement, this would help with that. Apart from that, the splash park was fun!

I have been dealing with Stride Credit Union for over 45 years and have never had a problem with them they are very helpful and trustworthy and I would never change to a different bank.
My experience was dismal at Stride Credit Union. Condescending, dismissive unprofessional rep.(Melissa), threatening behavior, lack of professional ethics and demeanor. Take your business elsewhere.
Went there today to get change from bills and a roll of loonies. Was told I need an account there even though I have been there multiple times to do the same thing. I don't live here, nor do I bank here. You should not need an account to exchange money.
Absolutely disgusting company. They left Plumas without a credit union, sold our community garden out from under us and yet they say they care about the communities they serve. what a joke. They care about money and not people. Please take your money out of this garbage business and take it literally anywhere else. At least the big banks don't pretend to care.
My little sister was the victim of theft & credit union allowed the thief to change my sisters debit card pin unauthorized? After they contacted my sister about fraudulent use, they assured her her card was locked & the thief was still able to make a transaction afterwards. 0 security measures in place, poor poor service, do not recommend at all. So glad I switched banks years ago & now my entire family will be too.
I was looking to switch bank's lastyear and opened up an account with stride. Long story short this bank didn't get my business because appointments were cancelled and never rescheduled, I couldn't just go in an speak with someone unless there was an appointment. So I stayed with my bank in Elie and I'm also disappointed with them and will be switching from Credit Union's today I hope this helps.
I've been a Stride Credit Union Member for over 20 years and love how I can walk into the branch and know I will be well taken care of by the tellers as well as my loans officer, Colleen. Thank you for being an important part of my life and the heart of the community!
Lost my debit card online bank wouldn’t work to lock the card; I tried calling and left a voice message. They got back to my voice message within 10 minutes.

Great little attraction. We were met by some of the locals and had a great time exchanging stories. Got some great photo opps. Really fun exchange. Mandy was displaced by the Northern fires and was staying near. She was fun to exchange photos with. We were on Harleys and she wanted photos with us. Made our day!
Completely free to go see. Trucked behind a building. I am a big fan of Coke so wanted to make a stop during my roadtrip. It definitely needs a new coat of paint. Pet Friendly.
I appreciate the idea and style, but the paint is deteriorating, and the surrounding area is cluttered with garbage containers. I wish the city would take better care of this unique symbol by repainting it and relocating it to a more suitable location, such as Island Park, rather than the backyard of a pub.
Fun little place to stop. Lots of parking. We went into the pub. Burger was good. Service was good.
Very cool to see but only that it's not like a park you can hang around there but it's cool
It is what it is , a big can of coke! Nice little spot to have a break and eat a snack.
Can spend as much time as you want to take pictures there!! It is right next to Canada inns!
Such a fun quick stop...just a "coke can" and you...

Beautiful, calming and relaxing little spot just off the highway
Good for fishing in morning and afternoon. take food for the day, mosquito repellent for convenience. one bathroom is there, separate for male female but close your nose while you are there. good for passing a day if anyone like fishing. portage la praire shops are couple of minutes drive to buy necessary for fishing.
Nice, peaceful place....Maybe good for fishing.
That’s a beautiful place to hang out especially in the summer when this place is filled with water from the overflow from the dam. overall peaceful place to fish and have a bonfire!
A beautiful spot along the river/spillway to have a picnic or rest. Surprised at the amount of pelicans that were around.
BIRDING We stopped here for the diversion aspect but stayed over an hour for the birding. Eagle, pelicans, shoveler, herons and more. Parking area suitable for trailers under 30, maybe longer. Water above spillway was low in late May so plenty of birds out in the flats.
Pretty decent little place to stretch the legs.
Did some fishing here with my son and my friend and his boys. Great fishing here and the people that use this area seem to respect it as it was clean and garbage was put in the many cans throughout the area. First visit here and landed a 35.5 inch cat. Will come back here again to fish some more.

Such a great experience and the staff are quite friendly. I'm very happy that there are parking attendants to organize the cars to avoid any complaints to be able to see the whole screen without being blocked by taller/bigger vehicles. Make sure to bring bug spray or fan during the night time, it was quite bothersome with the heat and mosquitos but the breeze was quite relaxing. Thank you Prairie City Cinema!
Great Service, Great Prices! 👍 had a issue happen during my visit and the owners helped to resolve the issue. Love our local Cinema ♡♡♡
Saw a movie at the drive in here. This is a make shift drive in theatre due to the challenging Covid restrictions, however the staff have done a great job with it. Concessions are open inside and are well done, and bathrooms are available indoor as well. Sound is provided through an FM station that you tune into on your in car radio. A very fun experience overall!
Friendly owner ran into him when I worked across the street, he was always working on the only theatre we have! doing improvements! 5 star friendly and who is there to compare it to? anyhow only theatre in town.
Great experience! Surround sound with comfy seats and great popcorn. Will come again!
Surprisingly it was great! I liked it! Watched Leo, never knew we have similar audience experience like we used to have back in India. I never expected this experience in a long time. The theatre was small and cozy, although the seats weren’t too comfortable. It was a great experience and I would visit again, if I had the opportunity.
After a long 2 years not being able to go to move theaters it was nice to get out and finally enjoy a movie. The Prairie City Cinema is a great locally owned movie theatre that will provide you with everything you need to have a great evening out, such as amazing popcorn and all the snacks you could want. Update, still a great option for an outing in the portage area. The chairs in some of the theatres have been upgraded and are very comfortable.
Totally love this theatre!! Awesome for birthday parties for your kids or a great family outing. Seriously can't beat the snack pack deal for a small popcorn, fountain drink, and a chocolate bar for $4.99. The price of your movie tickets are an awesome price too, especially on the deal days. Totally has that warm welcoming small town feel. Definitely has turned into my main movie place to go with my family!

We ordered online from Mayfair Farms.ca in portage La Prairie Manitoba. We picked a time that we could pick up our produce and I am delighted to say the strawberries were the best strawberries I’ve ever tasted, along with strawberries we ordered watermelon, asparagus, baby potatoes and some preserves. The staff are very friendly and the produce Is fresh. Earlier this week While travelling through British Columbia, I was able to purchase some strawberries in the Okanogan Valley. I would have to say the strawberries in Manitoba where better! Yum!
We did strawberry picking a couple years back . This year they mentioned in their website that “do not travel long distance expecting good strawberries “. But we wanted to try out anyways. Guess what? it turned out to be the best strawberries we ever tasted. We planned to pick a couple of boxes and end up with 5 boxes(lasted only two day and disappeared😄). I can highly recommend this place for Upick & pre-picked berries. They have a tiny market selling tasty veggies too😊👍
Great place to get your vegetables, fruit, jams jelly, and honey. Great staff. Manitoba grown!
This farm used to be our favorite place to go strawberry picking out of Winnipeg with our family and friends during the U-pick season every year but unfortunately the past couple of times that we've been here one of the owners (Aly?) has been following us and watching over us like a hawk during our entire picking time while pretending to be on her phone standing 3 feet from us. She has been making us feel unwelcomed and very uncomfortable during our most recent visits. Although the other employees have always been very respectful and kind but the owner needs to improve her customer service skills and learn to treat every customer equally. We are very disappointed with the Aly's unprofessional and poor treatment of our family that even though we have been coming to Mayfair farms and recommending it to everyone we know since 2015 we will no longer be coming to this farm again and we warn anyone who looks different from the owner herself that it is very likely you will be followed and watched during your entire visit at this farm.
Such a nice experience to get to pick up your own berrys! Wonderful!!
We went there for strawberry picking / U-Pick. They were well organized assigning visitors to specific rows of crops. I also saw areas for picking other berries (raspberries?). They also have a market where you can get other produce and ice cream too. For U-Pick, you can pay with cash or cheque. It is located in Portage la Prairie's island park which also has Splash Island so you can spend a good day or 2 in the area.
Strawberries are so small and sour. We thought we will enjoy strawberry picking with family, however we were very disappointed. Customer service is so bad. I asked them cordially if we can transfer lane since , we were 8 members in 2 lanes and we can’t fill up all are boxes because there’s almost none in the given lane. The staff ( who said she is the owner ) said I have to remove my sunglasses to see the strawberries, and Told me to pick up all the smallest strawberries as they’ll be rotten. I showed her that these small strawberries are still green. And she said we have to follow their rules, otherwise we can go find another farm like Connery. I have been into other strawberry farm where the owner and staff are so friendly, It’s really a very disappointing experience. I hope they will do something to improve their customer service in the future , because customers come to the farm to have a relaxing experience and to make good memories , and not to feel stress & disappointment.
I regularly buy onion from there. For red onion, 50 lbs $20 and 25 lbs $15. I used to buy 50 lbs.. They will help to carry that and put it in your car.. And a good service from them..

We had a great time. They have recently upgraded their scoring system which worked without any issues the evening we were there. Plenty of places to sit down in-between our turns at bowling and adequate places to keep our drinks safely out of the way of our "bowling approaches" 😁. We all had a great time.
We booked our bday party for 30 plus ppl .One day before our booking, they reached out to us to let us know the computer scoring screens are down if we'd like to cancel.. or if we'd like, we can still bowl but not be able to use the screens. We'd have to use Pen and paper to score . Having invited 30 ppl, we decided that it's ok to use pen and paper and not cancel the party as planned . We'd wing it ! All went well for about 40 minutes . Then the robots at the end of the lane quit working one lane at a time ..... We were pretty disappointed but accepted the fact that ya we were told about the screens, but no one is at fault that the robots quit working . The employees were very nervous and apologized over and over, sweet guy .. "All good,"we said. Just reanverce us for the 35 minutes that we hadn't bowled . NO problem, I was told someone would contact me, and a cheque will be mailed out for 65 $before the end of the month to settle up . Sure ok i said . 2 months later, I call back to ask about what's going on . I'm sure something was just overlooked . I received a call back from the (manager) basically to interagate me about why I waited 2 months to call them . Why did we expect a refund when we were told the screans aren't working ? Also, that nothing was written up o. My file ...( Not true) Later on in the conversation, she told me it's 65 $ not 60$ that I had thought it was . Let me say she argued about the 65$ like it was all my fault and was not very polite or willing to have a decent conversation about all this and guaranteed me that No cheque will be mailed out for 2 weeks .. That's fine. I said, "In this day and age, you'd think ppl would work together and come to a fare outcome when something like this happens but not with this manager ... I'm questioning her capability to run this position in an honest and fair direction ...
Awesome place to host birthday party! Bowling and Multipurpose Room make a great venue for kids to have a great time!
Awesome bowling, but service can be a bit slow to start or get drinks. Fun place to go to when you got time to kill
Staff is great! Lanes are good! The new scoring system is a bit glitchy, but I'm sure they will figure it out.
Took my kids there for a birthday party! They all loved it. Would definitely go there again!!
Awesome, had lots of fun. The place was clean and well kept and the staff freindly and respectful.
A fun place to spend a couple hours. It's well kept and the staff are very friendly, would definitely recommend if you're looking for somewhere to entertain a group.

Really impressed with this facility and course. The greens and fairways are well manicured and the layout is perfect for an average golfer that doesn't want to be stomping through the woods looking for a lost ball all the time. The carts are very nice and even have a cooler! Great clubhouse and the service was top notch.
Expensive!! Course was in good shape but very plain, too many 360yd par 4 holes that looked the same
Fun coruse to play. Bathrooms need to be cleaned and stocked with toilet paper. A few players where rude telling us we didn't match dress code when staff said we were all good and within. Rude players trying to get us to leave. Mostly ran into good players and teaching my son golf. Great as we where staying at the campground. Great rates for the few hours it filled us to play a half game as a group of 4.
Played last Sunday and had a fantastic time. So many elements make this course one of my favorites in the province. The greens were immaculate, best I have seen this year. The original 9 holes are 100 years old and provide narrow tree-lined fairways to keep you accurate. The newer 9 opens up a bit and provides a unique contrast. Club spaces out times and treats pace of play seriously which is great. We will definitely be back.
Course is awesome and in great shape! Also great pace of play.
Course in great shape and staff with quite friendly with a junior out.
I played this course in late July, 2021 and can’t believe how green it was. Challenging and fun course. Greens were in great shape and you can tell this course has watered more than most in Manitoba. Wish people fixed their ball marks more but what can ya do! Great course. Will be back and recommend to friends

I threw both my girls' birthday parties here and had an amazing experience. Sometimes It's so hard to find indoor activities in January, that aren't the same thing we do every year. So it was great to have this as an option this year! Food was good and service was great! Will definitely go back again!
Fantastic activity for the whole family! Reasonable prices. We have a blast every time!
Came in and the girl looked at us and went out and smoked with her boyfriend for more than ten minutes while we stood there waiting at the desk. We couldn’t pay to get in because there was no one to take our money. The entire time we were there she was never at the front desk. People were trying to buy snacks but no one was there. Great facility just crappy service.
Save yourself (and your kids) the disappoinment. Messaged them to ask about their covid policy (more specifically if they were going to allow unvaccinated persons in with the new restrictions) and they said they were unsure about that, but didn't say they were closed. Went with my kids and they're closed... Website and hours on the door state that they're in fact open.
We had so much fun here! The staff is very friendly and the place is always clean and welcoming. My kids love it here.
My kids enjoyed playing here for just over an hour. Would like to see the price come down a bit or offer a membership
Have taken my grandson on several occasions..clean,friendly,decent food and healthy choices...good variety of entertainment...fun fun!!!!
The place was nice but they dont care about their own rules, kids hurt each other in the bouncy castle and a few kids ran around without socks on.
