We always like golfing here. I like tree-ed golf courses, and this one is almost all trees. Greens are interesting. Staff is always pleasant and helpful. The adolescent black bear was cute, and staff kept us aware of his location.
For $99, I was expecting a similar experience to Waskesiu and Elk Ridge. I was very disappointed. The tee boxes were not level (some were falling down), the greens were shaggy, and the pins had not been moved in a number of days. The course layout is nice, but it completely lacks the level of care that Waskesiu and Elk Ridge have. The course, in general, seems run down. Parking lot was gravel. Signage on the course was poor. We were not allowed to fill up water bottles at the turn, so you needed to buy water. I have never experienced that. I would not recommend playing this course for $99.
It was my first time there . Great course with nice scenery. The fairways and greens were in great condition. I’d would recommend and will go back.
Excellent course and very well kept!!
I played the course twice at the end of July (29th and 31st). I had never played Emma before but was excited based on the description on the course website. I had booked rounds early in the year as it was part of an annual golf trip I take with friends. The cost for a round at Emma is 99 with a cart. Waskesiu is 105 and Elkridge is 85 for comparison. Due to this I had high expectations. Upon arrival I was surprised by the lack of development for course amenities. The parking lot is gravel and the clubhouse is very basic. The real disappointment occurred when stepping on the putting green. It was shaggy and soft and I hoped the course wasn’t going to be like the practice green. Unfortunately this was not the case. The greens were all long and must not have been mowed in days. They were extremely slow and the hole edges were all shaggy. I also found the greens to have gimmicky slopes. The holes were cut in very difficult odd slopes on many holes making putting very unpredictable. The tee boxes were also uneven making it difficult to find a suitable place to tee the ball. The actual course layout is interesting and the fairways are in decent shape. Almost none of the bunkers were raked either of the days we played there. When we returned on the 31st they had finally cut the greens so they rolled better. I was shocked to find that they didn’t bother to cut new holes on the front 9 leaving the edges still shaggy. If this was priced as it should be, a 50-60 dollar lake course, I would give it a better rating. However, they are charging premium fees for a subpar course. I do not recommend to play based on the current pricing. Save your money and play Waskesiu or Elkridge.
Nice course. Tough as it has hidden shots. Long par 3's. Friendly staff. Unable to find rating of course. Lush grass, nice greens.
Emma lake is one of my favourite courses, for the reason i've been playing here since i was kid. I however, now live in BC and do not get here as often. I was here this summer and the greens were in some of the best shape I have ever seen them. I do believe Emma Lake prices are a little steep. When i was there, it was a beautiful day and the course was dead. Prices need to come down a bit to attract more golfers, and same goes for the price of a cart.
The golf course is very disappointing this year. Emma is one of my favorite courses but the fairways all felt overgrown and much of the course felt under construction. Hole 3 now has a tee box directly behind the green of the par 3 2nd for what reason I dont know as the people on the tee box have to be aware of people teeing off on the previous hole as if they miss the green long they will hit the next tee box. Being a 200 yard par 3 with a slope toward the tee box the miss you want is long......... pretty stupid design and a lack of thought process was involved to move the hole 3 tee box there.
