We had a group of four (two 50 year old couples) in February and had a blast. Admittedly, I have a massive fear of heights, but I felt safe and encouraged the whole time. The guides were not only very safety conscious but also a lot of fun! They made the trip spectacular. We also had young kids with us and an older couple and they all equally enjoy the trip. Amazing time...highly recommend if you are visiting Santa Teresa!
An absolute five star experience! The views are exquisite and the zip lines are moderately thrilling but accessible for all ages. The guides make the tour with lots of laughter while ensuring safety first. Even though it rained during our session, I loved every moment and highly recommend it! Note that while cards are accepted, a $9 premium fee is charged compared to paying in cash.
This was the perfect zip line tour for someone who is looking for a bit of adventure but nothing too scary or too much physical exertion. My partner and I are on opposite ends of the thrill seeking spectrum and this was just the right blend so we both enjoyed ourselves. Our guides were so friendly and very humorous. They made both of us feel very comfortable and safe the entire time. They even got my partner to go upside down! Highly recommend!!
We had a great time with Canopy Mal Pais! The crew was great and very humorous. When my daughter needed some assistance they quickly stepped in and made sure she felt safe and had help for the rest of the course. Thank you so much for making our day great! Everyone should go zip-lining with the crew at Canopy Mal Pais!
The Mal País Canopy Tour exceeded expectations! It was exhilarating and fun. Would go again and highly recommend to anyone visiting the Santa Teresa region looking for something unique to do.
This was a fantastic experience. The workers were very friendly and a lot of fun and did well picking up on who was nervous in the group. I’ve done ziplining before in Jamaica but this beat that by a landslide. Worth the money and definitely worth purchasing the photos! We also saw monkeys from the treetops which was a great bonus.
The employees here absolutely made this zip line tour memorable for us! They were fun, funny, and laid back (but made us feel very safe still). 8 total zip lines through the jungle with amazing views, plus some unique zip lines like a surfboard. They even let us zip line upside down.
Great friendly staff, who make the whole experience better. They have 8 lines, all of which were unique, and one of them was really loooong. They make it fun as to offer different ways of sliding, like Superman, or wrapped around each other , or no hands, or over a surfing board. The interaction with the customers is great, they make you laugh, even if you’re terrified. It’s $50 per person, and $20 for all the photos if u want. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area and have about an hour and a half to spare.

I have fished with this family at least 10 times and every trip is better than the last. If you are a real fisherman this is the place to call. The scenery alone is worth it. I have a 16 year old son who of course doesn’t talk to his dad a lot, BUT if I bring up Miguel & Marlon at any time he will talk to me for hours on end! If you catch zero fish it is still more than worth it to meet this incredible family in Mal Pais. I cannot say enough good things about them.
Miguel & Marlon were awesome - we went out for 6 hours targeting Rooster fish & could not have had a better day. They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly and set us up in some great spots. We closed out the day with 3 Rooster & 7 yellowfin - Miguel was kind enough to clean the tuna for us to bring home for dinner that night. Absolutely recommend booking with Costa Rican Tropical Tours.
What an amazing two days of fishing we had with Mincho and Carlos, first day in-shore and second day offshore. The first day of fishing we put many species in the boat including tuna, amberjack, grouper, snapper and Spanish mackerel. The crew were super helpful and accommodating for all of us that included three adults and two young children. The second day we ventured 27miles offshore, just myself and my mate, and what a day!! We found the big schools of yellow fin tuna multiple times and we also hooked onto two sailfish. Me and my mate fish a lot and this had to be one of the best experiences we ever had. I cannot recommend these guys enough and will certainly return!! Pura Vida!!!
We go to Mal Pais and Santa Teresa a few times a year and we always go fishing with Mincho. He knows exactly what he’s doing and we always catch fish. Mincho speaks excellent English which helps a lot. We catch tuna, sail fish, dorado, amber jack and a few other types of fish. I would definitely recommend mincho to anyone who likes to fish or who just wants to see the area !
We had a very exciting and adventurous day, everything was phenomenal. We caught 3 dorados and 2 roosters. Mincho and his brother are exceptional; They have a lot of experience and are very professional in everything they do. The boat is in excellent condition. Mincho filleted the fish and that night we were able to enjoy an exquisite dinner. I really recommend Costa Rican Tropical Tours!!
Our experience with Coatsa Rican Tropical Tours absolutely exceeded our expectations! Michno was incredible! He first started out with pointing out some humpback whales and allowed us to sit and watch them for a while. Then he knew exactly where to go to troll/catch some smaller yellowtail and then was able to help us catch some bigger ones. However we were blessed with catching about a 3 foot/30 lb Wahoo, which he said was EXTREMELY rare. Michno was on top of it when we reeled in the Wahoo! He guided, helped and hooked him so quickly. He was awesome and was telling us he was the third generation of his family to run fishing boats, and IT SHOWED. He was on top of it the entire time and helped each one of us every time we hooked a fish! He also filets fish so quickly! He even made us fresh sashimi while he did it, which is probably the best/freshest I will ever have. This day was incredible. I highly recommend booking with these guys and ask fo Michno!
Great gents that know what they are doing and will do their best to put you on fish! Also, probably the nicest boat of the area, definitely the go to for offshore fishing if staying near Santa Teresa.
Amazing day on the water with Miquel +506-8899-3309 (english&spanish) and his brother Marlin. They run a first class boat with plenty of space for four. The boat we had was a 28' foot with twin 200 HP engines and outriggers for four lines, plus three more flashes lines out. Caught a marlin, swirdfish and dorado.

The best experience at Jobbies Longboards! Friendly staff and great board selection. They just want you to be happy. I had no issues with them. I rented a 9"0 longboard for almost a week, which included a calf leash and wax. In low season, they were flexible on price for multiple days. I'd happily go back! I recommend.
Jobbie is the Santa Teresa OG of surf board rental and overall good vibes. He's super friendly, provides quality equipment, and even helped us load the car. Additionally, his storefront is STEPS from excellent waves. This is the dude to visit when you find yourself looking for a board in ST.
This is a fantastic place to hire a board and / or get lessons. Jobbie the owner is super friendly and helpful and is very trustworthy too. Couldn’t recommend this place more.
Couldn’t have been any better great boards and merch and even better staff that works there. Always stoked and happy to help with everything. 5 star experience minimum
Friendly rental spot! I had a great experience renting a surfboard from Jobbie, who was recommended to me by someone on the beach. He was super responsive over WhatsApp and was extremely flexible. As a beginner, I had a great service.
Came over without my surf board because traveling with a board is a mission but was also skeptical on what boards would be available for rent. Managed to come across Jobbies, they had a great variety of boards for all surfing levels. The guys were all super friendly and helpful with recommendations on where to surf and what times of the day, also hooked me up with some wax. If you are looking for a good board and some local knowledge definitely hit these guys up!
We had a really bad experience and they showed a poor customer service. The guy was apparently friendly but turned out to be very aggressive and made us pay for 3 days even if we returned the boards on the third day as soon as they opened in the morning. My suggestion is to NOT rent with them, but if you do, write a small contract so that everything is on paper, or they’ll keep your ID until you give them what the money they want. We also had a small inconvenience and we lost one of the strip that was holding the board on the car, and they would charge us for 2 strips instead of one. Really unfriendly and not honest. BAD VIBES ONLY.
We took lessons with Jobbie yesterday. Super cool dude, and we all had a great time. There were 5 of us, and I would highly suggest him to anyone! We rented boards today. The prices were very fair!

We had an amazing experience with Day Trips Costa Rica! Aaron and his team were incredibly professional and made sure every part of our trip was smooth and enjoyable. One of the highlights was Aaron himself—he cooked us fresh fish on two nights, and it was absolutely out of this world. Hands down, the best meals of our entire trip! Beyond that, he arranged all our excursions and fishing trips, pairing us with the best guides. Every guide we met was not only skilled and knowledgeable but also warm and welcoming. They truly went above and beyond to make sure we had an unforgettable experience. What impressed us the most was how attentive and accessible Aaron was throughout. He was quick to answer any questions and made the entire booking process feel effortless. His personal touch and attention to detail gave us complete confidence in our itinerary. We can’t recommend Day Trips Costa Rica enough for anyone looking for a stress-free and memorable adventure. We’ll definitely be back to visit Aaron and his team again soon! Also don't forget to ask him for some of his home made Tuna Jerky! It's the best!
We had an awesome time- I appreciated Gary giving me some history of the area. We caught quite a variety of fish from the kayak. and most importantly - we got the Roosterfish that I literally came for. Thanks for a great experience. We will surely be back
My wife and I went out with Aaron and his co-guide for a morning kayak run near shore. We wanted something more adventurous than sitting on the back of a boat trolling. This ended up being the highlight of our trip after catching numerous fish species. The guys got us on school after school and we got to try different techniques. They know these waters better than anyone and supposedly this was the low season! The seas were relatively choppy that day but we were very secure and safe in the two person kayaks and I felt good with mine and my wife’s safety in their hands (helps that they are on the national kayak team). Also Aaron is fluent in English and Spanish with roots in Canada so that made communication easy. Can’t wait to comeback to this corner of the world again and fish with Aaron and his team, thanks so much!!
Went kayak fishing with my wife and we were guided by Aaron and Gary. Had a fantastic time, both these guys know their stuff when it comes to fishing. Both of them worked very hard to put us on fish. Aaron and Gary both clearly love what they do and that is part of the reason why they are so good at guiding. We didn't find the rooster we were looking for, but still caught fish including an awesome snook, and have that much more reason to come back!
Day Trips Costa Rica was beyond our expectations! We went on a fishing and snorkeling trip with kids ages between 2 and 10, and everyone had an amazing experience! Not only everyone caught a fish, with all the laughs and joy that comes with it, we also had the chance to snorkel in pristine waters, see a couple of turtles and eat fresh ceviche on the boat made out with the fish we just caught! One of the best experiences ever. Aaron is super fun, knows a lot about the area and is an outstanding chef. The Captain knows exactly where to find the best fishes, his knowledge and professionalism were amazing. A great experience that I recommend 100%.
We had a great time fishing with Day Trips Costa Rica! Aaron is very accommodating and knowledgeable not only about fishing but also local activities and things to do. He is very passionate about his work and he will take care of you. He is a top bloke!
Such an INCREDIBLE experience!!! Aaron and the team were so kind. Took us out in the morning to catch a lot of fish and then prepared one of the best meals we had in Costa Rica in our AirBnB! The kindest service and went above and beyond teaching us the art of making ceviche and grilled fish. Gave us other suggestions for our remaining time in CR. Cannot recommend this higher!!!!!
Day Trips Costa RIca was INCREDIBLE! My bf and I did a half day fishing tour and everything was seamless, fun, exciting and really really special. The crew - Clei - was personable and professional (AND we caught a HUGE red snapper, tuna, and multiple others!). After, Aaron worked with the lovely Sharon from Drift to create the most unique and delicious dinner with our catch. Cannot say enough wonderful things!

I wish I could give Jason's Fishing Tours 10 stars! This was definitely a major highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We booked the tour after reading glowing reviews, and Jason's had the best by far. We went on a 3-hour tour with Emilio, who was an incredible captain. He went above and beyond to make sure we had the best fishing experience possible. We had such a great time that we ended up booking a second day! On our first trip, we caught a Bonita, Mackerel, and Triggerfish, and on the second, we landed two massive Rooster Fish—such an exciting experience! Highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure!
This was our second fishing trip this month with this company, and I just have to say Emilio is the best! The first time, it was just me and my daughter. We didn’t know much about fishing, but Emilio made us feel comfortable, welcomed, and excited to learn. We had such a great time that we knew we had to come back when my partner joined us and we were lucky enough to have Emilio as our guide again! He’s incredibly kind, patient, and passionate about what he does. You can tell he truly enjoys helping people have a great time on the water. We had an absolute blast and now really understand how thrilling and fun fishing can be. Can’t recommend this experience enough.
Fantastic experience fishing with Jason. Very professional and knowledgeable captain. Nice, comfortable boat for offshore and very high quality fishing gear. We went 2/3 on enormous sailfish on a slow day fishing off of Costa Rica. Highly recommend!!
My wife and I and our 1.5 year old son did a 4 hour trip with Emilio. We had an amazing time and caught a bunch of fish. Emilio is a great captain and was very good with our son too. Can’t wait to do another trip with Emilio and Jason tours!
We had a fantastic two days of fishing with Jason Tours in Costa Rica. The first day was an off shore 8 hour trip. The boat was large and comfortable for the four of us. The extra large Bimini top was a bonus that kept us cool during the hottest part of the day. We got into the tuna in the morning and quickly 8 in the fish box. We decided to switch gears and focus on other game fish. I ended up landing a large Wahoo and my friend landed a large Mahi Mahi. Lunch was an excellent smoked tuna pasta salad. We let Jason keep half the catch and still had enough to feed our party of 8 and all the staff in our hotel. The second day was a 4 hour in shore trip. There were six of us and we each caught all we wanted. Again there was a large Bimini protecting us from the direct sun. We also had two humpback whales surface right next to us. Another great trip! Thanks again Jason! Returned Costa Rica and went out again with Jason on 1/4/25. Landed to major fish that have long been on my bucket list. A 60lbs Sailfish and a 400lbs Blue Marlin! Jason does not disappoint. He really works hard to get on the bite! Thanks Jason!
Ok, so, hands down the best 4 hour trip I’ve ever been on. Our captain was Emilio and he absolutely showed out. We caught Jacks, Tuna, a massive Rooster Fish and saw dolphins, a humpback whale and the only underwater volcanic gas vent on the Nicoya Peninsula. It was money well spent and an unforgettable experience. I will be calling Jason Tours anytime I am ever in Costa Rica.
Awesome fishing charter. Quick responses to questions, experienced captains, good equipment and reliable boats. We did the 6 hour inshore And we caught bunch of fish! Highly recommend.
We just had two fantastic days with Jason Tours. A little on the shoulder season, so we weren't sure what to expect. Captain Jason and his mate Eric took us out about 12 miles, started putting out lines and before we them all out we hooked and brought in a 300 lb Blue Marlin! Great way to start the day, but it wasn't over from there...Jason and Eric were true fishermen, and went looking for more fish. Got us into some Yellowfin and brought in a Mahi as well, which Eric said might be the first of the season. Day two was a snorkeling and boat tour with the wives and Eric was able to get us close to some Humpback whales before getting us on more Yellowfin and Jack Crevalle. Locals that have been fishing there forever and you can tell they love what they do! Next time we're back in Santa Teresa, Jason will be my first call!
