The class was amazing! Me and my fiancé took 6 weeks of class and went from not speaking a word to ready to move to Spain! Our teacher Evelyn was the most patient, kind, creative teacher I have ever had. I’ve struggled with school most of my life, and languages are not my strong suit, so I was nervous coming in, but had the most amazing experience. Maybe if my high school had been next to the ocean with beautiful sun, sand and nature all around, I would have been able to pay better attention! Haha I’d recommend this school for anyone looking to improve their Spanish skills, and would highly recommend a few weeks, as the real learning comes when you start to make friends in town.
Had my best experience ever here!!! I’m so grateful for my 2 weeks here. I started with one week and I liked it so much that I booked another week as well. My teacher Evelyn was seriously the cutest one, she was so friendly, helpful and so understanding.❤️ my Spanish is so much better now! And also, we had a cooking class my last day here. It made my Central America trip. And the owner Juan was so helpful too and drove us to the ATM 2 times. We had homestay the first week. And unfortunately the family wasn’t that good because they didn’t talk that much to us. The only one in the family who really wanted to talk with us was the son. He was nice :) and we didn’t get so much food either.
Great experience. Instructor Marcela was fantastic. Location was incredible, where else can you hop in the ocean during your break from class? I learned a ton in a short time. I did the home stay which was also fun, the family was very kind and kept me well fed. Overall, an excellent, scenic,stress-free place to improve your Spanish.
We've just finished 5 weeks studying at the Gigante Spanish school and can't recommend it highly enough. The teachers were fantastic. We went from being total beginners to holding conversations in just 5 weeks thanks to the brilliant teaching. Juan and the team went above and beyond on numerous occasions, for example taking me to the local clinic when I had a surfing injury. Studying here also meant we could go surfing everyday, which injury aside, was the perfect combination. We went for the homestay option which sped up the learning process and was really cost effective. If you're looking for a beautiful place to quickly learn Spanish whilst also surfing, definitely choose here.
Add a wonderful experience at the school. The instructors were really good and the accommodations were pleasant ( too much food). If you're a surfer, the wave 5 minutes away were consistent and the whole region is very safe. The shuttle back and forth from Managua was on time and reasonable. I would thoroughly recommend Pie de Gigante!
Taking classes at the school has been a big highlight of my time in Nicaragua!! The school is very professional, the atmosphere is so so good and positive and the teachers are full of energy. Every morning I felt excited ‘to go to school’ again. At first I wasn’t sure if I would like the 1-1 classes, but I wouldn’t have wanted it any different way. You really build a connection with your teacher and you’re forced to speak, a lot. You’re not only learning Spanish, you’re learning a lot about Nicaragua as well. I look back at this time with a big smile, it’s a very special memory for me. Special credits to my teacher Julian, who has been a great teacher and still is a good friend. 🍀
I had the best 5 weeks in El Gigante and at the Gigante spanish school!!!!!! + one on one classes + amazing, professional, fun teachers (my teacher was Julian and I can not imaging a better person to learn with!) + group activities like vocabulary-games, beach volleyball and even cooking classes(!) + most beautiful surrounding There are so many activities you can do in Gigante and it is also so easy to connect with other travellers and locals (especially when you visit the school). Honestly it was one of the best experiences in my life!
I had an amazing experience at Pie de Gigante Spanish school. I did 5 weeks of Spanish classes. The professors were all well trained and very proficient in their teaching ability. The lesson plans were well curated and my Spanish improved immensely. There were also group activities everyday that made it easy to befriend other travelers/people studying in El Gigante. El Gigante a beautiful and tranquil place to learn Spanish. I looked into many different schools in Central America and can't imagine one being a better fit for me. (Right on a beautiful beach and great surf nearby). I give the school my highest recommendation. Muchas Gracias to my wonderful professors Keyner and Javi!

We had ten days of surf lessons with Brett and it was awesome! Actually it was much more then surfing. Brett combined especially for us a step by step process and totally ignited in us the passion for surfing. We had such a great time with him, and will definitely recommend anyone who interest in learning to surf to contact Brett.
I've had many surf lessons in many locations and Morrie was by far the best. His technique made a huge change in my ability to stand up. He's positive and has lots of information about the ocean. We had a lesson and then rented boards for a week. It was affordable and a wicked good time!
My partner and I took a lesson with Morrie and it was excellent. The start was an introduction of how the ocean creates waves and how to be safe. We then warmed up and practiced our stance. When we were ready we headed in to the water to catch some fun waves! Thanks for a great afternoon and I highly recommend to grab a lesson with Morrie!
Absolutely loved meeting Morrie today and learning how to surf. The first hour was really valuable getting to know about waves / rips and where best to catch waves for a beginner. Out on the board Morrie was by far the best instructor out there. He consistently got us in the best spot to catch waves which was epic. Can't recommend enough! 🤙🤙
Me and my girlfriend are what you can call advanced beginners and we came to Popoyo to work on our skills. Morrie first gave another basic lesson to make sure we knew what we were doing once we were getting into more serious waves. We really enjoyed this lesson and were amazed by the theory part as well. A couple of days later he took us further into the bay and we had a superb time!! It was amazing be in the Pacific at sunset riding waves with him!! If you go to Popoyo, you do want to surf. If you want to become a better surfer, you have to go with Morrie!
This was simply phenomenal. Morrie conveyed to us the wisdom of the ocean, along with all the practical experience to begin our journey of mastering the waves. It was both philosophical and highly tactical. The instructions were immediately usable and we got great results. There was even a beautiful moment between my girlfriend and I surfing a wave into shore together. Synchronized surfing! It was truly a beautiful experience to remember.
Today had my first ever surf lesson with Morrie and managed not only to stand on the board but even got a glimpje of that good feeling of riding a wave! For 99% thanks to Morrie, he is a great teacher who helps you understand the why and how behind surfing and what you should do to get up and stand on your board. Thanks man!
Morrie & Juancito are great! They offer the science of wave development to create surfers. Not just throw you on a wave. Think enjoyment for a lifetime, not just for a day mentality. I've taken a few lessons with different instructors. One lesson with these two gave me so much more. An experience worth every dollar!
