Emanuel took me and my two daughters snorkeling at Playa Danita. He was an amazing guide! He made sure to guide us to interesting areas and highlighted amazing marine life, including sea turtles! My girls and I had so much fun, and we will certainly return (and request Emanuel) on our next visit! Highly recommended, as my girls were first timers!
Coffee on a La Marzocco, Pivot MTB rentals, crabs and iguanas on the trails and views like you’ve never seen…what else could you want? Thanks to the super friendly staff for the hospitality.
Stopped by here and rented bikes. They were helpful, friendly and we enjoyed the ride. The trails were good and had fantastic views over the ocean. It is a resort so prices reflect that but they were fair. Be aware, it is pretty warm so choose the time you ride wisely. We stopped a lot to cool off and didn’t cover anywhere near the distance we expected. Also the trails are dry and can have loose gravel compared to what we usually ride. It cut our confidence a bit. But we would do it again … but perhaps at sunrise.
I showed up here at the end of my 1,000km bike journey around Guanacaste and the guys immediately took care of me. Cleaned my bike up without hesitation and then gifted me with the best banana bread of my life and a cold drink! Pura Vida! Definitely come here for any bike needs or really anything in general! The best!
Rented gear from here during our wedding week back in July 2025! We hosted a big beach day as a welcome event for the wedding guests and they had everything we needed. Don't sleep on the snorkeling!! Its great snorkeling and they have good gear and the staff is so friendly. It became a daily stop for me (including wedding day)!
Had a great ride with Braulio. Glad I went with the guild on these trails. Booked 2.5 hours, but ended up only riding 1.5 hours. A bit pricey, but there were plenty of bikes to pick from, they even changed the petals out for me. The shop owner was quick to respond to my reservation and all my questions. Braulio was excellent, and his English skills were great. Would pick Pura Vida Ride again, but 1.5h ride next time. Thanks guys
Had a great tour of the mountains surrounding Catalinas with our guide from Pura Vida Ride. The bikes we rented were in great condition (they have a selection of hard-tail, double suspension, and e-bikes), and the guide was very friendly to some of the n00bs in our group. The only hiccup was with the bike rental process itself; the office staff were somewhat unresponsive the day before via Whatsapp, and a bit slow in getting us out the door the day of the ride, which meant we started later than we would've otherwise liked.
Shop was great, the staff was really friendly, the ride was great. You also had legit bikes, which helped. It felt like a hidden gem, and was so happy to be able to get out to you guys. Thank you #puravida

Beautiful beach. Lovely drive from Playa Grande. Main road in Las Catalinas is under heavy construction and lanes are blocked off. Other than traffic everything about our experience was lovely. Many restaurants strips away from the beach.
9:15 a.m., the beach was deserted and the shore was huge! The youngsters in our group had a superb time playing in the soft sand. We all enjoyed swimming out to the raft and bobbing in the waves. Two of us walked to Dantita via the rocks/beach. It was spectacular as well. As the day progressed, the shore slowly disappeared as the tide came in and the waves got bigger. We enjoyed body surfing for quite some time. Take note, there are no public bathrooms. There are several trails you can take for a hike from the public parking area. We paid 3000 CRC to park for the day. This might be one of our favourite beaches along this coast. So nice not to have a pile of people. The villas in the hills give a very European vibe.
Pretty and easy to access. They’ll charge you for Parking, but you can nestle under a tree for some free shade! This being said, if you’re up for it, 1.3km hike down the trail takes you to a way nicer spot… Playa Danita
Cute little village that’s a great spot to see a beautiful sunset. Lots of restaurants. I don’t know if I found the tourists very friendly seemed a bit cold. It was as if we were intruding. Also people drive quite fast around the bend that barely fits two cars.
Beautiful clear water not many waves great for kids. Small easy hike. There's also another beach adjacent Dantita it's well worth the extra hike or during low tide you can cross over by the rocks.
One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen in Guanacaste 😍 The water has this rich turquoise color. You can hike up the mountain and see the gorgeous views pictured here.
Breathtaking.. leave behind whatever stress and worries you have and come here to be restored. Costa Rica and its beaches are healing and unlike anywhere in the world. The Pura Vida lifestyle makes for calm respite and peace. The sea is buffered from wind and big waves, and no matter the time of day or evening, it’s perfect. Our view from our terrace at Santarena Hotel made it all the better. We’ll most certainly return and stay in Las Catalinas near Playa Danta again soon
Great beach that has nicer surf on windy days. Great dark sand. Trees for shade. Very few people in April. Top spot. The sun sets behind the hills to the north at this time of year so you will not see it disappear at the horizon.

Honestly… I’ve always known… the more effort it takes to achieve something in life, the greater the reward awaiting you. This beach is no different. 1.3km hike up a steep hillside and back down again to this secluded private feeling beach. Picturesque would be an understatement. Crystal blue waters, fine perfect sand and gentle waves lapping onto this hidden cove gem. 💎 Plan accordingly. You’ll need water, snacks and plan to head back before you’re out of light! You’re welcome 😎🌞
It's a fantastic beach. After parking the car , you'll need to hike a bit, around 15 minutes, the hike isn't hard, but it's better if you wear water shoes or proper shoes, though I did in flip flops. The views were amazing! We were alone at the beach from 14.00-16.00, after 4pm peoe who are staying in Las Catalinas started slowly gathering. The beach is great, you can swim there. If you wanna have a beer or some snacks, you should take everything with you. There's nothing at the beach, and the town, Las Catalinas, is rediculous ly expensive.
Beautiful beach, great for family with kids, no waves❤️
If you don't mind a little hike, it is fantastic. We were practically the only people there. Waves aren't too rough. The sand is a little rougher than some other places but a great beach.
An absolute hidden gem. Very easy accesable from Danta Beach. No need to hike through the mountains. Just walk by the shore. The water is crystal clear and warm with turquoise colour. The sand is so soft and has mixture of black, orange and white particles that makes this beach even more beautiful. The beach is quiet, not crowded and has one of those waters that allow you to swim without a fear of being dragged to an open ocean by strong current. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Remember to bring your own food and drinks as there are no facilities at the beach itself.
Nice beach, very quiet and untouched, always a little windy so you always have very long strong waves, beware of the water. It takes a while to get there but it’s worth it
Incredibly scenic beach. Completely worth the 10-15 minute hike. Not too crowded, beautiful sand, shaded trees with a backdrop of the Costa Rican cliffs. Magical place
Maybe our favourite beach in Costa Rica!

I went diving with my young son over Spring Break. We were impressed with Connect Ocean’s focus on education and conservation. We had an amazing experience from start to finish. They arranged all of our transportation when our original transportation fell through. Ernst (owner), Camilla (Dive Master), and Jorge (Captain) were each exceptional. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. P.S. Be sure to try Ernst’s wife’s banana bread. My son rates it as “spectacular”!
ConnectOcean is an absolute treasure. Whether you're scuba diving or snorkeling, the experience is consistently incredible. I’ve seen giant mantas, sharks, octopus, devil rays, whales, turtles, and an abundance of colorful fish— every dive guarantees marine life. Each season brings a new underwater adventure, making this one of the most exciting and diverse dive spots in the world. The center is perfect for all experience levels. Their equipment is top-notch, and the staff is patient, professional, and deeply knowledgeable. Camila, the dive master, deserves special recognition — her calm guidance and passion for the ocean make every dive feel safe, enriching, and unforgettable. I also prefer the smaller boat and individualized attention you get over the big boat charters. Besides making a dive run more efficiently, you have many more opportunities to learn about the ocean and connect with your dive mates. Special shout out to Jorge, the dive captain, who has the most amazing eye for surface sightings! Ernst, the owner, has built ConnectOcean around a powerful mission of marine conservation and community harmony. You can feel that purpose in every aspect of the experience, from the marine education on the boat to the way they engage with the local community on ocean safety. And don’t miss the fresh banana bread they serve to divers — it’s the best and a perfect dive treat! Whether you're diving, snorkeling, or just looking to connect with the ocean in a meaningful way, ConnectOcean is the place to be. I keep on coming back and cant wait for my next trip!
This was a very professional operation and you get to board the boat right at the marina. The captain and dive masters took good care of us and were very safety conscious: good boat and dive briefings, adjusting the dive profile based on conditions in the water, etc. I would happily dive with ConnectOcean again.
Great dive in a small group so a completely different experience from the large dive boats. First rate equipment and our instructor took really good care of us. The ocean floor is not reef but volcanic Rock. Still lots of wildlife with octopus, moray eels, turtles, white tip reef sharks and many others. RECOMMEND to give ConnectOcean a shot when you are looking for some great Scuba.
We had 2 incredible experiences with Connect Ocean. First, we did a guided snorkel trip, where we saw lots of ocean life, including a blowfish that followed us the entire time. The captain of the boat lined the sunset up perfectly in between two islands! A few days later, we set up a fishing experience. This was my favorite, as I love to go fishing. It was a different experience than I am used to, though. We fished with hand lines, and the conservation and education aspect of it was very interesting. They work hard to change the local small scale commercial fishing industry to be more conservationalist, in a way that the fisherman can make more money, by catching less fish! Truly a great experience!
I did my first discovery dive with them, and it was awesome! The morning pool session was instructive, and the two open sea dives were so cool - the instructors on the boat (all marine scientists) were extremely knowledgeable about marine life and scuba diving. 5 stars well deserved!
Connect Ocean is one of the most incredible experiences in all of Costa Rica! Whether you're scuba diving, snorkeling, or going out with a local fisherman to learn about the ecosystems around Guanacaste--- everything is done with professionalism, fun, and safety in mind. The education aspect is unmatched, and each time I return to the area I book something new with Ernst and the team... I've been scuba diving twice (once to get my partner certified), and went out with the local fishing program once. The best part is how much you're giving back to the local people and local environment. 10/10 recommend.
I had the best time ever!!! It was my very first dive, and the whole team made sure I was completely comfortable and safe every step of the way. They were super attentive, explained everything clearly, and never rushed me. The captain was so much fun, and the entire crew was amazing—friendly, professional, and always looking out for us. Highly recommend this dive center to anyone—whether it’s your first dive or your hundredth!
