While this is a small museum, it has some great artifacts from traditional Djerba culture. I especially enjoyed the clothing and jewelry exhibits.
Nice compact interesting museum which focuses on the cultural systems of Djerba and the Djerban regional differences. Sections detailed agriculture, pottery, marriage, fishing, music etc. Nice staff. 8dinar entry is worthwhile.
A beautiful journey into Djerba’s history and traditions. The museum is well-organized, with detailed exhibits on local crafts, clothing, and daily life. You can really feel the island’s soul here from the architecture to the artifacts. We visited on August 13th, Tunisia’s Women’s Day, and all Tunisians could enter for free, as they do on national holidays. It’s a must-visit for anyone who wants to understand Djerba beyond the beaches.
This is very well put together cool museum. I highly recommend visiting.
Not too big, that's good. Descriptions in English, Arabic and French. No indication of the age of the artifacts though. But what's upsetting is that local Tunisian visitors allow their children touch the artifacts where it's written "don't touch". They just don't care. It's awful.
Very nice museum in Djerba. It shows how the people lived on the island and what they did for a living. The museum explains this in Arabic, French and English. It covers the agricultural part of Djerba, pottery, weaving, gold & jewelry, clothes and marriages. Beside the good explanation (and funny English translation) it is foremost a very beautiful museum!
It was nice to discover the Tunisian heritage in details especially the one in Djerba it's totally different from the other areas
Excellent museum. Well laid out and v informative in Arabic French and English. Apart from a few of the info videos not working when we visited everything was impressive and gave a v good idea of djerbian life. Absolutely worth a visit

Superb experience and a very good travel agent company. We booked a 3 day tour from Monastir to the south of Tunesia. We were really lucky to have Nourredine as our guide and chauffeur. The company really listened to our wishes and made a perfect to us all inclusive offer. We had the full capacity of enjoying ourselves and this beautiful country while everything else was taken care of. They even had some surprises arranged for us. Thank you Autre Tunesia Team!
No idea. Found the office but they weren't open. My french phone card would cost 7 euros a minute to call so didn't bother. Arranged fantastic camel ride through my hotel.
Quadbiking and Tour guide were great, would definitely reccomend this
We had an amazing experience with AUTRE TUNISIE during our trip to Djerba! They organized all our activities, and everything was perfectly planned from start to finish. The team was professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Even when our Flamingo sea trip was unexpectedly cancelled due to bad weathrr, they handled it with great flexibility and allowed us to swap it for another activity without any hassle. Thanks to them, we had a smooth and unforgettable vacation. We genuinely enjoyed every moment and couldn’t have asked for better service. Highly recommended – truly a five-star travel agency!
(Translated by Google) Thank you once again to the entire team for this 10th, 11th, 12th trip (we've lost count!) for a wonderful exploration of the cities of Mahdia, Monastir, Sousse, Port El Kantaoui, and Kairouan—with a detour to Sidi Bouzid to remember the beginning of the "Jasmine Spring." We enjoyed strolling with our excellent guide, Amine, through the medinas of Mahdia and Sousse, visiting ribats and mosques, and the Habib Bourguiba Mausoleum in Monastir. Our accommodation in Kairouan was very unique, right in the city center near the Great Mosque, with a breathtaking view from the terrace and a very warm welcome. A huge thank you to Autretunisie for everything and for putting together yet another fantastic tour for us, and to our guide, Amine, for his expertise and kindness.

Amazing piece of history. The fortress was initially built by the Romans, and later restored by the Ottomans! I wasn’t lucky enough to get inside, however I had a nice night walk around it to admire its architectural masterpiece
A little to nothing to see. For a 5D ticket, don't expect much. Suggest a link between the fortress and the museum.
This fortress is not big but very interesting and left me with many questions. There were many archeologists actively working on projects inside but little information otherwise. I really enjoyed the views from the battlements and wandering around this historic building. 8 dinar entrance is very reasonable.
Small but interesting little fort part of a chain of them down the Tunisian coast This one is currently the subject of an archaeological dig.
Entry for Maghreb region is 5 TND,Eurpians pay 8 as of Jul/2025, place is small no access to the catacombs or the water reservoir or the tunnels between the fortress, part of the sea view vantage point is closed as will, has decent toilets. I noticed also fake carbonate based tablets with the goddess Tanet and Indian numbering on them on them, someone must have added them for suspense i guess but its sad to see them among genuine archeological site.
A must see with a beautiful panoramic view 🌅
Borj Ghazi Mustapha, also known as Borj El Kebir, is a historic fortress in Houmt Souk, Djerba. Built in the 15th century and reinforced by the Ottomans, it defended the island against numerous invasions and remains a powerful symbol of Djerba’s resilience and strategic importance in the Mediterranean.
The fortress itself is a great landmark, inside is a bit empty though.
