A must visit if you are in Bonaire! Nice wildlife and good snorkeling spots. Be prepared and bring a lot of water and food, especially if you are doing the long route.
The roads are rough but its worth it. A great place to drive around with plenty of hiking options. Be prepared to spend 4 to 5 hours. The roads are slow going and there are a lot of places to stop and get out. Lots of great birds to see and some neat history.
If you love hiking, being out in nature, or bird watching then you must visit Washington-Slagbaai National Park while in Bonaire. You will see more if you do a guided hike than just driving through. I highly recommend doing a guided hike as opposed to exploring on your own. This park is HUGE. There are some great snorkeling spots only accessible through the park. Be sure to check with the park rangers for the current conditions when you enter. This park has beautiful trails, lots of birds (goats and donkeys are still hiding in here), and scenic bays and coastlines. Flamingos too! The terrain is part volcanic, part limestone so wear good shoes and watch out for the cacti growing everywhere. Check out the small museum in the visitor center as well.
Fantastic Park! This is such a contrast to the shores and coral reefs on the other side of the island. It rained but we still had a great time driving through the park and getting out periodically. The muddy roads were terrible and we definitely would not have made it with anything less than an SUV. Your STINAPA fee payment receipt gets you in here.
Boka Slagbaai: A Hidden Gem in Bonaire If you're visiting Bonaire, don’t miss Boka Slagbaai—one of the island’s most scenic and rewarding beaches. Nestled within Washington Slagbaai National Park, this spot offers crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral gardens that make snorkeling an absolute delight. You’ll find an abundance of colorful fish and calm conditions ideal for swimming. The beach itself is a mix of soft sand and fossilized coral, so water shoes are a smart addition. And the ochre-yellow colonial buildings nearby add a charming historical touch to the landscape2. Whether you're hiking through the park or just looking for a peaceful place to unwind, Boka Slagbaai is well worth the visit.
A must see when you visit Bonaire. Make sure you bring a 4x4 and your snorkelkit. Important: When you want to snorkel or dive at Bonaire you have to pay a nature fee (STINAPA). With this you can also enter the park for free.
Must visit place on Bonaire. Nature is truly remarkable, as if you are on another planet. The park is very well maintained.
The roads are quite rutted/bumpy in places so definitely not to be taken on if you are of a delicate disposition! We had a fantastic day and did the long route which probably took the best part of 4hrs including stopping at every site marked on the map and snorkelling at two of the sites aswell. The landscape is untouched, much like Jurassic park without the dinosuars! Not to be taken on in adverse weather, we went the day after heavy rain and there Was a lot of mud/puddles to navigate through. Would recommend as a day trip If you are staying in the island for a while.

You can see amazing fish in the corals here. One of the best places to snorkel. Take your water shoes with you.
Very pretty, and very popular. The cliff jumping was a hit. Beach is pretty rocky but has nice pockets of sand. Bay is very calm and nice to swim in.
Beautiful bay to swim and snorkel. It provides a small climb to a cliff with great views and the possibility to jump in the sea. There is enough shade to rest and picknick. Two picknick tables are available. Flamingo’s sit behind the beach at close range
Very beautiful spot is definitely worth the visit! Also, be aware they are closed Monday's and it's best to go in the morning to be able to take your time and enjoy the park.
Absolutely beautiful area! Wild flamingos hang out near the beach, the rock walls on either side of the beach have a lot of fish and coral to see.
Boca Slagbaai is a great snorkeling destination in Washington-Slagbaai national park where you can see barracuda, puffer fish,highly-deadly scorpionfish and eagle rays roaming around in the crystal clear water of Boca Slagbaai.
Are you looking for a wild adventure on the island of Bonaire? Then look no further than Boca Slagbaai National Park! Just be prepared for a few unexpected surprises along the way. Boca Slagbaai is a stunning national park located on the island of Bonaire in the Caribbean. The park is a must-visit for nature lovers and adventure seekers, offering a range of activities and sights that are sure to impress. One of the standout features of the park is its rugged terrain, with rocky hills and cliffs that provide breathtaking views of the coastline and the Caribbean Sea. There are several hiking trails throughout the park, ranging from easy walks to more challenging treks that will take you to the highest point of Bonaire. Don't forget to bring enough food and water because the park doesnt come with a supermarket..

We have climbed the highest mountain of Bonaire twice. Nice adventure. Better you choose a day with enough wind as it can be very hot. Good footwear is recommended as some passages are very stony and steep. Take enough drinks with you. The ascent takes about 70 minutes.
(Translated by Google) Nice climb. Well doable for someone with average fitness. Very warm and you must like adventure. Don't expect a neatly planned route, you sometimes have to find your own way and actually climb here and there. Pay close attention, especially when descending. The undersigned was lost for some time. Once at the top you have a beautiful view. An experience not to forget. (Original) Leuke beklimming. Ondergetekende was daarbij namelijk enige tijd verdwaald.
(Translated by Google) A beautiful rugged route to the highest point of Bonaire. When you enter the park, follow the short (green) route. The signs clearly indicate where you need to be. See photo of the board for the preparations you can make. You really have to climb and clamber for the last part. Follow the yellow dots and you will reach the top with a beautiful view over the island.
(Translated by Google) The location on Google Maps is not correct, but it is a beautiful walk, the last part is a real climb without a path.
(Translated by Google) Personally, I would like to give 5 stars because the view was fantastic, but towards the top we felt it was more like mountain climbing than hiking, which is why we did not continue the last part.
(Translated by Google) Don't start the climb too late. The end is really climbing, a bit of searching for the route, but super fun to do!
(Translated by Google) A must do!!! (Original) Een must do!!!

Soft white sand beach with crashing waves, surrounded by epic volcanic rock formations. One of the best reasons to take "the long way" when traveling through the park. Sadly a lot of plastic has washed up on its shore.
(Translated by Google) The rough ocean hits itself hard against the rocks here. That produces beautiful pictures! (Original) De ruwe oceaan slaat zichzelf hier hard tegen de rotsen. Dat levert wel mooie plaatjes op!
(Translated by Google) Turtles lay their eggs in these dunes, next to the rough sea. A beautiful picture to see.
(Translated by Google) The views of the sea, the waves and the cliffs are too breathtaking and photographable. The waves are strong, therefore swimming is prohibited on this beach. I would say that it is a place with a special charm.
(Translated by Google) Beautiful view. You can't swim there because of the current. (Original) Prachtig uitzicht.
(Translated by Google) Not very spectacular, but big waves! (Original) Niet zo heel spectaculair, wel grote golven!
(Translated by Google) Beautiful but difficult to access! There are so many spectacular beaches that even though it is very beautiful, it barely comes second.
