By far the best distillery to visit on the island if you want to find out more about the making of rum! Loved the thoughts, the explanations, and the attention to detail of the free non-guided tour. Get carried away by the smells of vanilla, tropical flowers, and sugar cane right before you enter the tasting room. Very highly recommended!
Distillerie J.M. One of the most stunning views of a distillery I have ever been to. I could not get enough of the pictures and the location of this distillery. It almost looks like it is at the bottom most part of the volcanic mountain, with a couple of creeks that run through the building. The building is filled with mango trees, beautiful humming birds, and a handful of flowers (which I wish I knew the breeds). They have a very large barrel room where they cast their rum, and the smell for the barrel room is to die for. The tour is a self-walking tour and they have some interactive smell and taste portions of the tour. I do recommend getting a couple of bottles for the trip back home because their rum is good. I highly recommend the XO bottle but they were all good! There is a lot of parking and enough seating for a large group. The entrance to this location can be easily passed if one is not careful. The employees are very nice and welcoming. They do offer some samples so the customer knows what they would like to purchase before making it. Great location, must stop. Cheers Martinique!
Absolutely gorgeous We went with a group during our Buggy Quad tour and it was amazinggggg. The staff was so welcoming and attentive. I took videos of everything, sadly I can't share those here.
There’s a lot to like about this place but a general caveat that JM is pretty focused on the rum and less about the extras (art museum, sculpture garden etc)like Clement. That said, the location is beautiful; it’s mountainous with a stream flowing through it. The information inside the facility is well done, especially the “smelling” room where one can smell the different notes that color the various types of rum. We took a personal car tour with David which was absolutely worth the extra money. He was able to share details about the banana and sugar cane crops, as well as information about the manufacturing. My one criticism is that the rum products were really edited down. One can buy more JM varieties in the grocery store versus what one can buy at the distillery. Also, I would have loved if the tasting servers were a little more friendly, but we’ll chalk that up to my limited French and their limited English. A word of advice: if you’re coming from Fort de France, take the “highway” on the west coast of the island. It’s a beautiful drive and further, it’s not as windy, start/stop, up/down as the middle highway.
This distillery is beautifully located and very well set up for visitors with a self guided walking tour through the whole distillery process and with tasting at the end. Very impressive.
One of the best Rhum distillery in there island and a gorgeous place to visit, one of the best experience I had in the island,a must see.
Best distillerie in Martinique to visit. Free access and you can visit the entire factory. Nice and warm employees.
Most beautiful destilery on island! Great place with great location. Different and calm.
