Great tour of Montague Island (Barunguba). Great views from the lighthouse. We swam with the seals before our Island tour booked though Narooma Charters.
It it really an undiscovered place! (well, compare to Sydney city I would say that) I went 21-23 Feb and didn't see much people around. With less tourists comes cleaner water and a more natural environment. The snorkeling with seals tour is more than amazing and I highly recommend all the adventurers to try that.
The island across from Narooma is small and does have limited accommodation upon it. We visited as part of a tour but did not utilise the accommodation. The volunteer guide - "Debbie" was very informative and helpful and helped us around the island. Birds galore nesting upon the island were extremely noisy and made it hard to hear each other at times. In saying that it was lovely to see such an ecological system in play. Great history involved in the island. Glad to have visited.
My first time to visit a Bird Territory. The island keeper Peter is a nice guy. Snorkeling with seals is the best part of our holiday.
NPWS tour was fantastic. Really interesting history both for Indigenous people and European settlers. The ongoing conservation here is a huge job, well worth a visit to appreciate it. I would suggest a reasonable level of fitness to get the most out of the tour.
Snorkel with seal is the best activity in this island! Super beautiful island. Very protected natural reserve park!
Montague Island is a heritage place, and must visit place if you are in Narooma. It has a great history and if you go in breeding season then you will find lots of nesting birds on the island. It is a guided tour and guides are very knowledgeable. we booked through Montague Island Adventures, very good experience with them.
A magical experience!!! Everyone should snorkel or scuba with the seals! There were hundreds of playful seals, giant bull rays, schools of fish and baby port Jackson sharks

It actually looks like the Australian Map. You can cross the rock from the left corner when it’s low tide. Few more walks through the rock-walk, you will reach to the Seals Rock where you will encounter lazy seals sleeping or lying on the rocks. They look so cute though. But do not feed them and make that area dirty. Please keep the area clean.
Such a beautiful and unique natural landmark! The rock really does look like the shape of Australia 🇦🇺It is incredible to see in person. Perfect spot for photos, especially during sunrise or sunset when the light hits the ocean. The coastal walk around the area is peaceful, and you can often spot seals nearby too. Definitely worth a stop if you’re visiting Narooma!
Sunrise here put me in a state of trance. Absolutely tranquil sights and stunning views, the rock is really cool and unique - can see why it’s got the name. Strongly recommend coming here during sunrise for breath taking start to the day.
A great spot to stop for a little break or if you're wanting a short scenic walk. There is parking right at the top near a lookout, then you can take the stairs down to Australia rock. You can also park at the washrooms and walk up the hill to get to the rock and lookout.
It's a great spot for photography. The rock itself is amazing, naturally shaped like the map. Beautiful landscapes with cute seal.
Breathtaking views and fresh, invigorating air make this a truly refreshing place to visit. Watching seals play is an absolute delight, and the stunning Bar Rock formations are a must-see. The unique rock formations are simply amazing. Highly recommended!
Came here to see seals and it was pretty cool to see. Came here early in the morning and under roughly 15-20 seals. Most of them were kind of sleeping on the rocks some of them were swimming. A few of them were far up enough on the rocks that they felt pretty close to you. A highly recommended stop if you’re around here.
Australian Rock is named by the aperture in the rock, which resembles Map of Australia. It's a good and beautiful place to visit. Seaside view is fascinating. Seals are also found on the rocks, mostly sleeping when i reached. One much take precaution, not to disturb them. They may be dangerous. Especially take care of kids. Parking area is very small. No tickets are required to visit this site

Sally and her team are wonderful. You can have a delicious coffee, croissants and the best cinnamon bun, while getting great advice on exactly what to do and see here. We came for the oyster festival, which was a fantastic experience. However our bike tour, visiting the seals at Australia Rock just blew us away. Sally’s enthusiasm for all the gastronomy in the area and incredible wildlife. Had us wanting to move here. Don’t miss the light house museum , Tilba ,The Quaterdeck and the Oyster farmer’s daughter ❤️
We went to Narooma last month to take pictures of seals. We popped through the visitors centre to get some information on where to find them. The two ladies there were lovely and very helpful. They gave us a map and circled the best spots to see seals and large black stingrays. They have a nice selection of gifts so definitely go there when you get to this amazing city!
Many thanks to Sally ! Very helpful!! A lot of good advices and suggestion. She helped us to make an important decision !!! "Try the E-bike ..... it could be an expensive decision !" Thanks again
The very friendly staff at Narooma Visitor Center were wonderful. We have been travelling for four months and actually didn't stay at Narooma but we had to stop here just to ride your wonderful bike way along the coastline. Thank you Narooma for your friendly staff and great bike ways.
The staff were extremely friendly! We didn't know a thing about Narooma when we walked in and if we didn't stop we would have never gone to see the seals or happened across some AMAZING stingrays.
Friendly staff and service. Narooma is a great place for the kids
Two very helpful ladies helped us know more about snorkelling tours to Montague Island, and even called all the guides to get tour prices, times and numbers for us. Highly recommended!
Lovely staff, interesting lighthouse museum.

Amazing place! Absolutly stunning! Saw seals swimming on the beach
Good little beach and big carpark. There is a safe spot for the kids to swim in. Good for fishing. Has bins, toilet, outdoor shower, bbq, playground, picnic tables, and a drinking water station. Got to see the seals having a nap.
Really nice beach with safety nets and lots of parking in various spots. Can see seals and sometimes dolphins from here. In December 2021, we were lucky enough to see a dolphin and her calf.
Such a great family beach with parking close by. Shower is near and the shark net is handy. Waves are not big which is ideal for little kids.
Clear water, gentle wave, good place for snorkeling, especiallyclose to the head of breakwater, surprisingly great, lots of fish, stingrays, also saw a Monta (we believed so) and a port Jackson shark!
Excellent beach for family, surprisingly not overcrowded. Calm and clear waters fenced for safety. Cleanup showers, clean toilets, BBQ in adjacent park with 2 covered/shaded benches and few other open seating areas and lots of parking available. Don't miss this place if you are in narooma and are after peaceful afternoon with your kids.
Stunning beach to bring the kids! Fabulous fenced off area to keep the little ones contained, lovely beach, public toilets and ample car parking surrounding. Main thing is the water. Lovely and warm in summer and crystal clean green / blue color. Just stunning! A strong recommend from me!
This is a beautiful spot where the snorkelling is really good when the swells are down, and fascinating to watch along the breakwater when the swells are big (boats go down in big swells apparently). I have seen a large variety of fish and ray species with the snorkel and look forward to coming back here with my boys (who can be enclosed in the safe part of the beach).

Many great experiences here from sunsets in the afternoon to cuppas and pancakes in the morning play in the park for the kids and a spot to walk your dogo .its got it all .you can even launch the tinne.
Great for a stop! Lots of facilities like a bbq, toilets, shelter, picnic table and the bonus: great views!
Nice park. Small play area and dining areas.
A cute little park right near some great eateries. We bought food and sat at the park to eat it. the waters are shallow for about 20m so its great for kids or fishing or boating. The water is also quite warm in the summer. Lots of little sea creatures including fish and starfish can be spotted among the reeds.
Beautiful park at dusk, at low tide you can see the hermit crabs in their thousands walk around. Some bbq and picnic facilities and toilets as well
Beautiful park with an amazing view! A few picnic tables and a bbq area which was great. Plenty of parking. Not gated. Very clean and tidy. Must visit park when in Narooma
Perfect place to picnic with the family and young children. The toilets are across the road are clean and the park is well kept. The children had a good time here.
If you're visiting Narooma there's worse things to do than grab some fish n chips from nearby, plonk your butt at the tables, pour a glass of vino and watch the sun go down over the fabulous Wagonga Inlet. If you have young children there's plenty to amuse them. Toilet facilities available. Perfectly located park, quite busy over Summer.

Lovely place, clean facilities. Plenty of sea birds etc. Even the dogs are happy here.
Easy water access, plenty of parking including cars with trailers, and a public toilet nearby.
Fantastic Beautiful little boat ramp Beyond description
Great ramps. Fish Cleaning tables, washdown facility 🎣👍
Try the Mill Bay Boardwalk next to the boat ramp.
(Translated by Google) Anglers here will like the facilities for processing the fish they catch. But we liked more the fact that seals like to come by here to pick up leftovers from gutting the fish. And even though they are of course wild animals, they were already quite used to people.

Nice place to take a stroll out to Australia rock or just catch up with friends. Lots of fish in the water and a very clean park
Spectacular...the water is so clear and the marine life can be seen frolicking in the beautiful inlets, seals, stingrays, fish and majestic sea eagles, this place truly is absolutely gorgeous.
What a lovely spot simply fantastic on a nice day to eat to lunch. Great views. Can sit on the grass at waters edge. Toilets nearby. Swings for the kids. Immediately close parking. Not to be missed for lunch or morning or afternoon tea.
Nice place with a bbq, toilets, drinking water and play area for kids. Right by the bay where you can see/ swim with sting rays and seals.
Rv parking if no cars on street front dont pull into parking bay near toilet no where to turn around. Good grass area for animals and play ground
Beautiful spot this is exactly where we had lunch after riding our bikes from Dalmeny also a beautiful spot. The fully paved shared footpath follows the coast all the way so plenty to see. I think it's about 7 or 8 kilometers with a few hills thrown in to get the blood pumping. You have to use the boardwalk and bridge to get into Narrooma township just follow your nose you'll love it we do this ride at least once a fortnight. 😊
Very nice park, kids love this place.
1. BBQ 2. Kids playing in the playground (safe enough because of the fench) 3. Wonderful sea view 4. Nearby the australian rock where you can see the seals. If you drive along the east coast, this is one of the place that you want to stop by.
