IMPORTANT: this road will lead you to a gated private property. Do not go this way to get to the beach. Use the other ramped areas.
Ninety Mile Beach in New Zealand, despite its name, is approximately 55 miles (88 kilometers) long. This stunning coastline is renowned for its golden sands, rolling dunes, and breathtaking sunsets, making it a paradise for photographers and nature lovers. Cultural Significance Known as Te-Oneroa-a-Tōhē, the beach holds deep cultural importance for the Māori people. It features prominently in Māori legends and stories, reflecting its historical and spiritual significance. The beach was officially given a dual name in 2014 as part of a Treaty of Waitangi settlement². Tourist Attractions Ninety Mile Beach offers a variety of attractions: *Te Paki Sand Dunes: Popular for sandboarding. Cape Reinga: A sacred site for the Māori and the northernmost point of New Zealand. *Fishing and Surfing: Ideal for fishing, especially for snapper, and surfing during favorable conditions. *Wildlife Watching: Home to diverse wildlife, including shorebirds and marine life. * Travel Considerations The beach is one of the few places in New Zealand where you can legally drive, though it's best done during low tide due to the compacted sands from consistent wave action. Ninety Mile Beach is a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and recreational activities, making it a must-visit destination in New Zealand. #DRCSBUCH #Newzealand
Awesome family fun day, kids played football- soccer on the beach. Girls built sand castles and placed seashells around it.
Absolute magic driving on this endless beach. Should be on everyone's bucket list. Make sure you have a 4x4 drive. Also, look for low tide time before you go for a drive.
was nice, a lot of fishermen were there. Still had a nice sunset swim
Ninety Mile Beach trip to Cape Reinga, was a great experience for me. This beautiful trip shows you a part of the Northern Territory of New Zealand. You can start your trip from Paihia and end at Cape Reinga(the last end point of northern New Zealand or peak of new Zealand) that is a gorgeous scenic view to explore. I really recommend this beautiful trip. 90 mile gives an infinite view of beach which is very rare and fantastic to experience. If you haven't been to 90 mile beach and you're planning on enjoying a trip to New Zealand I highly recommend you put this on your list of things to do in the North Island. Beautiful peaceful and very few people around so if you want peace quiet and still have access to some fantastic restaurants cafes shopping, then this is the place for you.
Really nice place to visit. If you’ve made it this far up north, props to you! Just a heads up the way I went had 2kms of road and then 8kms of dirt road. I’m a beginner driver and the Northland drive wasn’t an easy one 😮‍💨 but I think visiting ninety mile beach is totally worth it. Hidden treasure
This place is a must for everyone. The view is beautiful. It's very peacefull, made my soul feel at peace. Photos & some videos attached. P.S - Be carefull odf the cars & utes driving on this beach.

Very informative museum. Friendly staff and beautiful library with coffee shop.
Great attraction for our township. Stunning entranceway, could take hours just checking out the carvings. Great information desk and they do wheelchair hire for a donation. Wonderful.
I visited Te Ahu in Kaitaia and it was an amazing experience. I learned so much about Northland’s history and culture. The museum was really impressive, and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable — they made the visit even more meaningful.
Pros: It's fantastic that somewhere as small as Kaitaia gets to have the latest movies on the big screen. The seats are comfy and although the screen is not huge, it's a classic old-style cinema. Cons: Consistently across three visits, we found the majority of other patrons to be older patrons who seem blissfully unaware just how rude it is to chatter during a movie or to giggle at tense moments in a thriller.
Came here for my moko's muay thai fight he won to by the way lol sori yea finally kaitaia gta centre my tane frm kaitaia ain't been here in a while so first tyme at this centre big pl wat kaitaia needs xx heaps parking too 😀
This is the best community centre I have ever been in. The library has a peaceful calm about it and many great books to browse. Ah, an enticing smell from the café! There are freshly made snacks and great coffee, too. Most important, all the staff are friendly and approachable - smiles are everywhere you look! As well as the library, there are numerous more things that make Te Ahu great. An excellent cinema showing the latest movies, intriguing artwork in the atrium, an art space for local artists to display their work, souvenir and information centre, computers to use for free and also a museum. Come see for yourself and enjoy :)
Watched a movie only thing the sound was far too loud so was pretty hard to endure they definately need to adjust the sound i wasnt the only one going deaf
Great place to walk around. The loop, around Te Ahu and neighboring properties is being developed. Here's some morning shots on the loop.

Such an incredible find on our travels. This was an awesome experience and we were both amazed by the size and array of collections. It wasn't just one focus there was everything and more you could imagine and my partner and I were both extremely grateful to experience such a collection. It's a great time when you can admire a Bel Air, buy die cast AND see or feed the animals on the same property. Thank you for allowing us into your space, we can't wait to return
The majority of the vehicles on display were farm vehicles . Also some cars. I was impressed with info on the Daimler double six. Also , they had a mix of everything telephones, batteries, music players, even a dentist's chair. It was a great experience. They have a 15 dollar entry fee. You can also pay 2 dollars extra to feed the sheep nearby. They have a toilet onsite. They also sell some soft drinks and ice-cream.
Amazing treasure trove of beautifully restored vintage cars, farm machinery, horse and buggy and other collectables. Winston Matthews is clearly an enthusiast. Really worth a visit. One point to note if you are driving there - we were travelling from Coopers Beach direction and made the mistake of driving past the sign for the Museum on Twin Coast Discovery Highway opposite Aurere Beach Rd, where we should have turned left onto the sealed track that takes you directly to the Museum. We followed Google's directions at the end which was not a good option - an unsealed farm track that was way longer, wasn't clear and we ended up detouring to a farmhouse instead. After reporting this to Google, hopefully Google will amend its directions!
Very interesting place to visit a good selection of vehicles including tractors tools machinery and all inside under cover so weather is not a problem. Also an area with Museums history and antiques of the past. A wonderful knowledgeable host. Very friendly and a true gentleman. Wheelchairs and baby prams have easy access into and around most of the Museum.
Impressive private museum and you get to hangout with the pony and sheep as well. Beautiful collection of vintage car, tractors and everything. Lovely stop during my road trip. I will definitely visit again.
The guy played a special music for us which was the best part of explore the vintage museum. Very antique collection of vintage cars and tractors❤️! Must recommended
Beautiful Vintage cars +. Mr. Matthew himself gave us the welcome to his fantastic museum. We really enjoyed every bit of it. Cars, motorbikes, machines, artifacts, musical instruments and more. Not pricey. Highly recommended!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We fall in love with this place Not just old cars, but lots on very old staff (see the pics) If you love history and olden days, you must visit

Terrific, Annina secured a room reservation in Auckland while I was waiting to catch the innercity bus to Auckland central. All worked out fine, I wasn't left to search for a room after a long day on the bus. Thanks Annina

A lovely Jewel set on a remote Country Road surrounded by beautiful native bush. A large amount of finished products on display, and all the machinery and equipment for making more. A fascinating place for anybody interested in Artisan pottery.
An interesting gallery in a secluded country setting. Some different pieces and craftsmanship. Our excursion was made even more interesting playing dodgems with the potholes for the 6km of poorly maintained gravel road.
A little off the beaten path, but they were very welcoming and had some really nice pieces. Second time we've made the trip.
Wonderful place. Worth the trip out. Excellent value for beautiful pieces.
What an absolutely amazing pottery shop.

TA hikers should put this on the map! Such a great find! What a beautiful garden, it goes on and on. So lucky they are happy to share it with campers. The owners are very generous and really made me feel welcome as a solo camper.
Another amazing stay at Serafina's! This is truly a little piece of paradise.. My kids and I spent five nights here in the summer, and a couple of nights here over Easter, and highly recommend the gardens as a wee sanctuary stop if you're ever in the Far North. Beautiful gardens and native birdsong aside, you will never meet a couple quite like Murray and Serafina, they are so much more than great hosts! Thanks for having us🌺
Fantastic site and hosts! Murray was great and so nice to us. We’re on holiday from the US and he loaded us up with citrus and knowledge. We’d recommend this to anyone touring the North and would happily stay there again.
A beautiful, peaceful place to stay. The owners were very friendly
We visited this secret paradise on the Easter holiday, and it was definitely one of the most unforgettable experiences! Such a beautiful treasure which hides in Kaitaia and you can't miss it. I would call it a national park as it has all sorts of plants and flowers from different areas. The owners really hospitable and gave us a wonderful tour of this amazing and well designed treasure. It a such a huge area, and I bet it would have different stunning views in varied seasons. Another amazing part is that such a huge area has been looking after so well by owners themselves, you will feel how unbelievable of this, but the stunning view is sooo true. I really respect and am inspired by how hard work had been done and needs to keep going. And it would be a perfect and private place for people who want to have the wedding ceremony, and they have facilities to make this happen. And it's also a good place for teaching or gets experience in landscaping and horticulture, as the owners have hands-on experience and extensive knowledge in those fields. Would be the best place for the related majors students in Universities or schools to have the field trip. I just can't wait for the next visit!
This is a beautiful spacious place to camp for the night. The garden is amazing and full of fresh fruit. Murray and Serafina are incredible hosts and some of the nicest people we met during our 3 week trip around the north island. Highly recommend staying here if you have the chance. P.S. The also have the sweetest little dog named Lulu. Very friendly!
This is a fantastic holiday park on state highway 1. Their gardens are beautiful and feature a variety of flowers and fruit trees. We stayed here on the way back to Auckland from Cape Reinga. Murray and Serafina (and their dog) were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We left with full stomachs and a bowl full of fresh fruit from their garden. Highly recommended!
Called into Serafinas on our way to Kaitaia.. Had a very interesting tour around their amazing garden by an enthusiastic host Murray. They also make their own sausages, bacon and cheeses.. We had the Morracon Lamb sausages for dinner tonight and they were very flavoursome. Doesn't look much from the road at this stage (still a work in progress) but definetly worth a visit.
