Lake
Nature & Parks
Lake with surrounding trails for walking & cycling, plus recreation areas & birding sites.
Slide 1 of 8
A place with something for everyone. Walk, run ride, play or have a social gathering. Bbq and toilet facilities, playgrounds and park areas. Ample parking at various locations around the lake.
Perfect for walks without hills. The Black Swans are rarely seen now but ducks are plentiful and occasionally a pod of Pelicans will visit. Bird watchers frequent the walks.
Lovely park with cycle/walk path circling the entire lake, approximately 6kms or longer if walking the outter ring. There is, at least, 3 playgrounds & toilet blocks. A bike track/course. A coffee van on site. And an abundance of birdlife.
Oh, how I love Lake Monger. I’ve been coming here for years. Located in Leederville, it’s a fantastic spot for a walk or a run. It’s also nice if you just want to sit and watch the world go by. With city views, plenty of trees and open space, there’s peace and tranquility in spades. There’s also a coffee and food van called ‘What the Flip!’ – closer to the Powis Street side - which does thing like fresh coffee and juices, ice cream, pizza, burgers and a whole lot of other stuff too. I’ve had the coffee and it’s good. They have tables and chairs you can sit on too. Otherwise, you can always take your coffee on your walk. The lake is a great spot for families, couples and singles alike. There’s acres of grass to sit and chill on, which is perfect for picnics. Plus, there’s a dual use path around the lake for cyclists, walkers and runners. There’s also about three water fountains scattered around the lake, which also cater to dogs. Sometimes – between these water stations and the dog treats and water bowls at cafes – I think the dogs have done a good job of upping their social status! Oh, and there’s plenty of parking too, which is really good. I generally park on the Powis Street side, as it’s really convenient. But there’s also parking on Lake Monger Drive - on the opposite side of the lake to Powis Street. Kids will also be well entertained, with an assortment of play equipment at various points around the lake, including a relatively newly built set that even includes flying foxes. It’s very big and looks really fun! A bit more modern that the ‘80s equipment I grew up on. You know, the slides that got hot and burnt you on the way down! And there was none of these surfaces with give in them! Just old school bitumen, maybe some grass underneath if you were lucky! Exercise enthusiasts are well looked after too, with free exercise equipment including an elliptical, bars for tricep dips and a sit ups table available – you know, the ones you hook your feet on. And there’s a half basketball court for sports enthusiasts. There’s also a few BBQs around for anyone who fancies cooking up a storm on one of those glorious days Perth puts on. There’s also display boards at different points around the lake that talk about the local wildlife, like the Southwest Snake-necked Turtle (basically a long necked turtle). The local council also has signs up about what to do if you come across injured wildlife, which is great. As an animal lover, I really like it when animal welfare is prioritised. The lake is abundant with bird life, whether it’s ducks, cockatoos, pelicans, magpies, mudlarks or willy wag tails. It’s enough to make any ornithologist or photographer happy. I even saw a shag sunning itself on the grass. It’s a great life for some! And it wouldn’t be Perth without bin chickens would it? I happened across a couple part way through my walk. Some things never change. I timed my visit well, as I stumbled across a pelican doing yoga! As a keen yogi myself, I was very impressed to see this pelican doing ‘warrior 3’ pose! Check it out in the photos. I never thought I’d see a yogi pelican - but it just goes to show you never know what you’re going to come across in life. I once saw a long neck turtle on the bank of the lake but before I could get a photo, he was back in the lake like greased lightning! That said, I was able to snap a shot of a turtle’s beady eyes through the bush – see if you can spot it among my photos 😉 There’s also a footbridge that goes over the freeway, which is super convenient, especially if you’re on a bike or have kids or pets with you. I make it down to Lake Monger a couple of times a week. I’d recommend it to anyone. Time in nature is always well spent. If you want to walk off your day, Lake Monger is the place to do it. Now that summer is almost upon us, it’s even better.
Absolutely the best park! Walking, jogging, running! Super easy access to freeway or to city. Coffee vans around sometimes! Beautiful view along with lush native plants, lovely birds and sometimes a little surprise with double rainbow after raining days! 😌💓🙏
Great spot for a walk firm path for the entire lap lots of people Saturday morning but not unpleasant. Great bridge for crossing over the motorway
We absolutely loved walking around this lake yesterday afternoon. There were a couple of parks on the way, which my daughter thoroughly enjoyed. Could have sat down for hours as it was so peaceful.
A beautiful location close to the city. This is the fastest 4.5 km walk you will ever do. it is flat circuit around the lake. It is so tempting to stop at the many interest points, where you'll see turtles, bird life, snakes and drones. Don't be put off by how busy the car parks become as many people are there just for the playground or for picnics. We were heading to the coast for a walk but parked at the second of three parking lots off Lake Monger Drive, to answer the phone. Realising that we were already at a nice spot, we chose to take advantage of the lake walk. The path is wide, on the freeway side there are dual paths, the old and the new path. Shoes? Almost any comfortable shoes will do, I saw people wearing thongs. Its a clean smooth walkway. Water bottle? Take water as there's only the one tap near the playground. On the day we came across a caravan at the west end of the park, which was selling snacks and drinks. No jacket required. The pathway weaves in and out of shady tress. The trees provide shade along the way. It's clean and fresh. We'll be back!

Leisure center
Fun & Games
Sizeable complex with outdoor & indoor pools, a sauna & an indoor water playground, plus a huge gym.
Slide 1 of 8
Beatty Park Leisure Centre in North Perth is an outstanding community facility and easily one of the best leisure centres in WA. The pool areas are immaculate, with options for everyone — from heated indoor pools perfect for winter swimming, to outdoor lanes for lap swimmers, to kid-friendly splash zones. The water is always clean, the lifeguards are attentive, and it’s a safe and welcoming place for families. The gym is excellent too, with modern equipment, plenty of space, and a great atmosphere. I really like the group fitness classes — there’s a huge variety, including yoga, Pilates, cycle, and high-intensity workouts, all led by motivating instructors who know how to keep sessions engaging. The change rooms and facilities are always tidy, and parking is convenient with plenty of spaces close to the entrance. The staff are what really make Beatty Park Leisure Centre special. They’re friendly, approachable, and always happy to help, whether it’s answering questions about memberships, assisting kids with swimming lessons, or simply offering a smile at reception. You can tell they genuinely care about creating a positive experience for everyone. If you’re in Perth and looking for a high-quality leisure centre with swimming pools, a gym, group fitness, and family-friendly facilities, I can’t recommend Beatty Park Leisure Centre enough. It’s the perfect place for health, fitness, and fun all in one spot!
Excellent fun for the kids for a couple hours. The kids area is big and well equipped. There is plenty of seating. The water slides were really fun and ran consistently. A really good way to spend time as a family.
I was really disappointed with my recent visit. Almost all of the swimming lanes were reserved, leaving only a few available for people like us who did not make a booking. It felt very limiting and unfair, especially for casual swimmers who just want to enjoy the pool. On top of that, one of the staff members scolded us while we were using the slow lane (there was no leisure lane that time). We were stopping briefly in the middle because we can’t swim very well, and instead of offering guidance, the staff spoke to us quite harshly. It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I hope the management can improve lane availability for non-reserved swimmers and ensure staff communicate respectfully with all visitors, regardless of their skill level. The complex has great facilities, but the experience could be much better with more considerate service.
Without a doubt the best place for adult and child swimming lessons. The swim school is very accommodating and the instructors are great. On the whole a fantastic place for all of your fitness needs from in door and out door pools, to gyms, fitness classes, sauna and even a creche.
Such a great leisure centre. Timeless and dependable. Fantastic gym and wonderful swimming facilities. Always great classes and instructors too.
I’m 20 and I loved this place when I was younger it was so clean and it still is. I went with my lil Brother in 2024 he’s 13 years old and he said the best part was the waterslide and I can agree. I’m going tomorrow with my friends, some old classmates and my family it’s going to be AMAZING
Nice leisure centre with many pools, sauna and gym. Great location, lots of parking spots and great infraestructure. Sometimes it is too busy but it is price worthy.
Disappointed. We arrived with the kids around 4:00 pm, and the park is open until 6:00 pm. However, the lifeguards shut off all the water fountains and water slides at 4:30 pm. This early closure is not stated anywhere, and nobody informed us about it.

Fantastic playground for children of all ages. The toddler playground is new and a great addition to the park. It is all fenced in, with BBQs, toilets, waterplay, flying foxes. A great place to have a party. There is a cafe across the road to get coffee.
A fabulous park and playground. Plenty of open space plus 2 playgrounds. One classic (plastic covered climbing frames, slides and swings) and one adventure (full of dirt and water and flying foxes) Public toilets and free BBQ available. Plenty of cafe close by.
My son's favourite playground! It's quiet and spacious. There are picnic tables inside and also a clean toilet. Suitable for gatherings and parties!
Beautiful fully fenced and shady playground, suitable for all ages really with a nature scape inspired side and a toddler sized one separated by the community centre (which boast large, clean, well stocked toilets!). The only downside is parking is a bit restricted and since it’s such a nice park it’s certainly busier in that morning tea time but otherwise a lovely place to catch up with friends!
A lovely park in Mount Hawthorn, for small children, right next to the community centre. There's play equipment, toilets and plenty of space to run around. My 3 year old grandson had a great time.
The playground has been created with a smaller space for younger kids, and the Adventure area with 2 ziplines for older kids. The area is very open but also has shady areas and picnic tables, or you can bring your own gazebos for private parties. The park is fully fenced & gates as well.
One of the best park north of the river. Excellent for families, very popular with kids birthday party. Playground is brilliant, the mini flying fox is a hit with the little one. Parking can hard at times.
Great family, close to nature park.. fenced all around for safety and have very clean toilets. There's also another playground just outside, for smaller children.

I felt connected to this cottage because my great grandfather helped build it. Full of history of WW1 and Private John Porter and his family who lived there. Saved from demolition by the Vietnam Vets and now owned by National trust. Worth a visit
What an amazing little gem hidden away in Mt Hawthorn. This little cottage is filled with history, intrigue, and just a bloody good story. Love it!
Really special to be able to visit this place! Make sure you do you research to find out what days they are open, as the Cottage only opens to public a few times a year. We happened to drive past on Purple Poppy Day and attended a touching ceremony honoring the animals that have served in wars past and present.
Informative tour by Ann descendant of Private Porter the first occupant. Of special interest to our group as our great- grandfather and great-grandmother were there providing their services on the day it was built in 35-degree heat.
Very humbling and honoured now knowing the History of Anzac House. Thank you
Visited on an open day. Informative talk presented and cup of tea and biscuit for gold coin donation.
Restored by the Vietnam veterans and some their history Also a tribute to the people who built these houses for WW1 veterans.
Beautiful ANZAC Day sunset ceremony - last in Australia (mainland at least).

Pastor Peter is super friendly and have strong memory how to remember his parish. Love the way to worship here
They welcomed me as their Presbyterian brother and were so kind and informative. I was very grateful. However, I became saddened and discouraged when I learnt about them having a women’s “pastor” despite the clear commands for men to take responsibility as Pastors as seen within the books of Titus and Timothy. I hope they will reform and come back to scriptural authority. Bible over cultural pressure. “It is not wise to go against scripture or conscience.” - Luther
Beautiful, welcoming Church. Building is unique and delightful but the people are even better in my experience. Having attended 7 years, I feel very much part of the congregation. Please feel welcome to attend on a Sunday or other event.
With Women’s ordination passed in October 24 at synod under what could be only be called dubious and underhanded circumstances against what God’s word teaches. Recently the International Lutheran council removed the Lutheran church of Australia for this decision.. Soon St John’s welcomes their first fully sanctioned woman pastor. It’s a sad and unfortunate as Lutheran’s vote with their feet and have started departing in increasing numbers. The future of the Lutheran church is concerning as it travels down the path of being woke.
A beautiful, traditional, welcoming church full of kind and friendly Christians from all over the world who now call Perth their home. I was made so welcome from day one. The pastors are great guys and I made friends fast. Since going there for the first time I now come back every Sunday. There are regular services in different languages, e.g. German, Mandarin, Norwegian... All are welcome! P.S. There is plenty of free parking opposite the church.
St John’s Lutheran Church is steeped in heritage. Our founders’ vision was fulfilled in this iconic church so close to the city, built with great attention to detail in 1936.
It was wired church. I am not recommand you go to Aussie service if you are international person. People will not welcome you n you will feel left out and you do not want to get that kinds of feeling especually at the church. I could not find any love there. If you are international person go international church you will find more common things and feel comfort. Perth is not really exciting place n i cant find any benefit to live there. East side of Australia offer you more experience with beautiful natural. I felt Perth is death city n job opportunity limit n expact you more hard work with short money however, one of benefit to live perth is cheap accomodation fee compare than other cities in Australia. Strong recommand to go east side of Australia but if you have secure job n need to save money strong recommand to stay in Perth.
A welcoming church with a really international flavour. Worship services in English, German and Asian languages. Band style music and organ and hym services at alternate times/weeks

Great for AFLW Derby. 6100 in attendance. Queue for ice cream was long!
Bit of work getting done around the ground, grass in solid condition.
Great stadium and very clean, could do with some TLC and a reno.
Great atmosphere and great facilities Love watching the footy.
Nice oval, good coffee van and the Mexican food van did really good burgers. I wish I could remember the name of the burger van because like to try them again.
Great plenty of room can park near the oval on the weekends
A relic from yesteryear. Crap everything. Needs to be turned into medium density housing immediately.
Centrally located in Leederville. Parking at rear off Loftus Street
