One of those places you may not even know exists, popped in and was totally amazed how big inside it was , informative pieces and well kept and maintained. Recommend a visit, and it's donation entry awesome...
Do NOT miss this museum. It's donation-based and one of the best authentic collections we've seen in our 7 weeks in NZ. Local families donated artwork, artifacts & historical knowledge. The extreme detail to cataloging the items from the early 1900s and late 1800s was impressive, sorted by interest. Iwi Chief from this town signed the original treaty with England & the museum did justice to the sad aftermath of British takeover. A mix of exhibits from Maori portraits & artifacts donared from local families, as well as early English settlers. While we visited, there was also a Bob Marley photogtaph exhibit. Nicely done! Donate as much as you can and go here!!!! (Then stop at Osler's Bakery) A wee local gift boutique is also housed in the museum.
Great visit, our Ancestors Sir James Carroll is along with many others beautifully represented amongst the awesome displays
Tatou Tatou - this little gem is on the main street of Wairoa. Local custodians work with volunteers preserving local history. Stop by and immerse yourself in something money can not buy, but your donations will make a big difference for the preservation of history, Maori tanga, and those generations who contributed to a wonderful town - past and present.
Stunning little museum put together by the community for the community and wide. Can feel the Wairoa connection all the way through.
Lots of information about Wairoa history. The interactive section was a favourite of ours. There are about 4 steps to access the museum. Access is by donation. There is plenty of free street parking. Staff were super friendly.
Great and informative service from staff on hand. Best experience for a bit of local history fix.
Excellent opportunity to do some research on History of Tribe and Township Development. Our Museum has a Computer Touch Table linked to nearly every aspect of History, plus all Items contained in the Museum and their background etc! A truly unique educational, easy and fun way of learning! The more you explore the more information it will present to you! Well worth visiting! Staff service is the best you will ever get anywhere!

Wow, so beautiful. Did the Great Walk for four days. So peaceful and lovely spots to stop and camp or stay in huts.
Love this place. A world away from civilisation. Relaxing or adventure, camping or hiking, swimming, or boating the choices here for a holiday are endless. I've been coming here for over 20 years. My kids have enjoyed many holidays here playing and fishing on the lake. Great for families or even go solo. The hike trails are really well maintained with tramping huts. One of NZs great walks. The views are stunning. Love it
Went for a ride up the Napier Taupo road and just before waipunga falls took a left through the whirinaki forest to minginui then turned right to head to lake waikeremoana absolutely amazing country, native bush as far as you can see . I was expecting old camping grounds but was pleasantly surprised and the nice modern looking facilities . Next time I will stay and have a look around but I had to get back home this day . Great ride
A hidden gem, beautiful Lake tucked deep into the back country. If you don't mind a few corners and dirt roads, check it out. Definitely off the beating track, but has that untouched feel to it.
I'd recommend going during the summer because there will be more people around and because it gets quite cold up there on the winter. The trek is not that hard, it does have some uphill parts that will make you a little tired depending on how heavy your stuff is. Don't forget to bring enough food if you're doing the whole walk, make sure you bring fire sources and a good camping knife. Water and wood are provided at the huts. You'll have beautifull views of the lake, it is worth a visit.
Beautiful Lake and heaps to do in the region. If coming from north the gravel road is intense and takes a good car and experienced driver. Definatley worth it when you get there it is beautiful and serene, the forest and surrounding lakes are also mind blowing. Ultimate place to relaxation and exploring nature at its finest and untouched. The photos form the lake high up are from Loos lookout its a 30 min walk up, and 15 mins down
Beautiful walk! If you are fit and don't stop all the time to take photos of the many point of view, you'll probably be much faster than what the sign are saying so take your time and enjoy!
Waikaremoana is a beautiful place with amazing views of the lake. Natural bush as far as the eyes can see. It has many walkways that are a mixture of easy and med hiking. I would recommend that you visit during summer time as winter can be challenging. With snow and road closures due to road/hill slips. Also if you visit please ensure to keep Te Urewera clean by taking all your rubbish with you when you leave. No electricity, No cell reception, No Gas and No Treated water. You can rent a beaken from the boat transportation service areas. We did trekking during winters and I will recommend you to try it out in Summers orelse trekking would be challenging. We were unable to use the tracks either.

Me and my husband have always loved going to the movies. After we had a baby going out seemed just that little bit harder. New years eve we finally built up the courage to go see a film with our 8 month old. Very child friendly. There was an area behind the seating where I could settle my baby to sleep (my daughter is not one to fuss much in public and is rather easy to put to sleep)and continue watching the film. Would definitely go again
What a real treat to enjoy Movie Lovers night, watching one of the top 10 movies of all time in this charming, well run, hospitable little theatre. Excellent wine, too. Fabulous experience
Big big screen love our movie theatre
The seats need updated i went to seat down on a seat and one of the arm was broken or was missing arm
Haven't been there since I left wairoa back in the mid 60s but it was ok the seats where a tad uncomfortable.
Loved it, good old fashioned family cinema, perfect for a good film. Great prices great coffee and muffin deals. So pleased we didnt miss out, we were visitors to the area. Highly recommend.
Wonderful experience, staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great and the cinema itself is beautiful and tidy. Going to make it a regular thing to do on the fortnightly :) will recommend in future to friends and family

We did it with our 1 and 2 year old. It was steep to begin with, but the 2 year old managed to walk the whole way with just his hand held and tips on where to place his feet. The caves were very muddy once the steps ended.
Lovely walk on the track with good views and the caves was good to have a look.
Awesome! Went on a pretty wet day and didn't have appropriate footwear or a hardhat so we had to abort mission once partly in the cave. Gonna have to go back on a nice day with the right gears and explore.
Wonderful walk in, across farmland, first bit is steep, but the remainder of the walk in is easy. The bottom of the main cave can have patches of mud after rain, but I would recommend climbing the ladders and venturing further into the caves (note they stop 100M or so in) Bring a TORCH, and enjoy the caves! The family loved it!
A steep climb to the top of the hill, then down slightly to get to the cave entrance. I spent 58 minutes here including exploring the caves. There's a staircase to the bottom of the cave, then deep mud halfway to your knees throughout the cave. Please be careful. Cave exploration is dangerous. Don't go too deep.
Nice 30 min walk through astonishing landscape. Be prepared to get muddy in the cave
Very steep climb up the hill, saw some sheep and tried to not disturb them (lambing season). It was extremely windy, so hats must sit tightly on your head. The main cave is nice but muddy, we wore big hiking boots but still too muddy. Gumboots would have been better. We skipped the first ladder as the entrance to the higher cave did seem slippery and there was a crevasse you could fall into. All in all very nice tour, just be careful of the log trucks coming down the long gravel road (7km). I wouldn't recommend this road to very large campervans, as some parts of the road are quite narrow and you would have to drive backwards quite a bit in the case of a log truck coming.
It's great that the farmer allows us access through his property too experience these caves. They are not huge by any means and saw 3 glow worms. Still I would say it's worth it. Good foot wear and a torch a must

From the moment I arrived about a week ago, trying to organise my trip back to Auckland a week later, I was very stressed out The staff were absolutely wonderful and handle my situation in a very friendly and professional way. It felt like I was talking to a family member! 10 out of 10 for great service.
We had decided to stop in Wairoa at the last minute and jumped off the bus. This place was very welcoming, helped us get transportation to our motel. Then when we had a 4 hour wait for our bus after checking out, stored our bags and suggested places to go in town. Very friendly and helpful.
Information that was given to us was, get a pie and sit by the river. We queried the waterfalls and the person we spoke to had no knowledge of whether the waterfalls around the areas were swimmable and which were the best spots.
Patient & helpful girl here. She made a phone call for us for accommodation & gave good info. She let us stay inside using wifi right up until she left herself. Lots of brochures & merchandise here plus free wifi.
Staff are helpful and friendly you can use the computer, find out about camping area places to visit maps of local area very informative and assortment of local craft jewelry small jars of honey also can book plane flight, intercity bus to Napier that can connect with the Napier airport also in the afternoon intercity bus takes passengers to Gisborne. You also find out what happening in the town
Friendly staff with great knowledge of the local area and of all attractions. Will go out of their way to provide you with everything you may require for your trip.
Austin was extremely helpful and friendly. He found the perfect lodging for us.
Air conditioning, friendly knowledgeable staff. Best place in Wairoa for private computer work and printing.

Beautiful service! Highly recommend - we had a 'last minute' order within 30 minutes of closing and Susie had it all sorted and delivered just in time. Thank you so much for the wonderful service! You guys are amazing!! xx
Highly recommend to always support local! My brothers and I have had a few deliveries over the past year to our Nan up in Wairoa and it’s been such an easy process to choose flowers and get delivery sorted online. Absolutely love that they email a pic after delivery! Thank you tenfold Bloom’n’co team for always pulling through with the best bunch of flowers at such short notice!
Absolutely amazing service from Susie & the Team. I've placed the order online at 10:00pm on Wednesday and the gorgeous bouquet had already been delivered by lunch-time the next day. Not only that, I also received a lovely personal email to let me know that all was well. So, so pleased I found this wee gem of a florist.
Love the fact that you are online and can deliver. Great service and delivery. Beautiful flowers, and appreciated the photo of the flowers that were sent.
Placed a new order this week for flower delivery. I received the same excellent service that I experienced a year ago. Flowers (purple) are beautiful and exactly what I ordered online. Thank you for the personal email you sent following delivery. You went the extra mile to ensure your customer was satisfied! 5stars! First order one year ago: Thanks for the quick delivery of our order. I appreciated receiving an email and a photo of the flower bouquet before you delivered them. They are fresh and look beautiful. The website and whole process was easy.
Love bloom 'n loco, they delivered a beautiful bouquet of dried flowers to my mum in law. I got let down by another company on the day of delivery, so I quickly googled and these guys came up. A quick phone call to confirm I could get delivery on the same day. Order in, job done, to easy. I've saved you to my home page, your my go to for all things flowers & gifts.
Absolutely top of the shop customer service! Communication 10/10. Highly recommend this service. The arrangement for our Dad was beautiful and on point. Ngā mihi nui ki a koe, Suzie
Excellent customer service. I made a mistake when placing the order online but they realized my mistake, contacted me immediately and helped me solve the problem. Excellent service. My friend was very happy with her flowers. Thank you very much.
